place. this is "outnumbered," i'm harris faulkner here with my cohost kayleigh mcenany, joining us today carley shimkus, martha maccallum, and bill hemmer. it's can it be great. no word from the fbi or the justice department yet since yesterday's early morning raid at mar-a-lago. however, fox news learned it was part of an investigation into the handling of classified presidential records which begin earlier this year after 15 boxes of documents had already been transferred from his florida estate. yesterday the fbi executed a search warrant looking for more material they claim the warmer president took with them after he left the white house in 2021. the raid drew outrage from trump supporter's who quickly gathered outside mar-a-lago. the former president was in new york at the time and issued the statement. these are dark times for our nation. a beautiful home, mar-a-lago,

and palm beach, florida, is currently rated and occupied by a large group of fbi agents. none of that nothing like this is a wrap into a president of the united states before. >> harris, we know too much ago an official from the justice department was meeting with officials at mar-a-lago and came to specifically ask for potentially sensitive documents that may have been out of mar-a-lago. we are told president trump actually popped by that meeting. it's not clear what happened between that point yesterday when the search warrant was executed and fbi agents were inside mar-a-lago. listeners a lot we don't know about yesterday. eyes go through what we do know. we know this is related to potential classified information about donald trump and his staff allegedly took to florida when he left office. this is not directly related to the january 6th attack on the u.s. capitol. from multiple sources of federal magistrate signed off on the

search warrant to go to mar-a-lago and take multiple boxes of items. back in february the archivist of the united states, now retired archivist wrote to the house committee on oversight about these boxes and was in contact with trump's team. the u.s. government eventually was able to take 15 boxes with potentially classified information. fox news is told by a source that inside mar-a-lago yesterday fbi agents looked in every office, save, grab documents and boxes without going through them in the pop property bid we told photographs were taken to go through later once they left the property. a source said they were not being judicious about what they took and quoted. so is fbi director, garland is really in a pressure cooker every day democrats saying he's not doing enough to investigate the former president former is not doing enough to investigate

side saying it was an absolutely perfect phone call. there is an attempt in these moments to color the entire thing and sort of curry favor with both sides and get people ramped up on both sides. i would caution everybody to wait until we get more information about what is in this affidavit which we may or may not ever see. also when you get the return on this investigation but what it is, they pulled from this investigation and whether they were looking for. do you even bf people like andrew cuomo saying that we absolutely need to have -- the doj must immediately explain the reason for this raid and why, because of exactly what david spunt said at the end of this report. this is an extraordinary situation. last night when i watch this i was a little bit unnerved. worrying about what this could lead to in this country, what kind of -- we talk a lot about the how the country is so fraught, and the possibility for

andrew mccarthy running for national review of file the piece two hours ago and he said this all has to do with january 6th. that's his working theory at the moment. why would that be? bill barr did an interview with catherine herridge on friday and "cbs news" bit if you go back and watch it a lot of her questions were directed around january 6. i'm sort of paraphrasing here, there are subpoenas that have been handed out for grand jury investigation, into what i do not know. but pat cipollone the former attorney for the president at the time of january 6th is one of those who was subpoenaed. what bill barr was talking about was that ultimately he and trump would have executive privilege. he wasn't quite sure how the courts would come down on that. maybe that's an issue that would go to the u.s. supreme court. ultimately. but he asked them if the president committed a crime and he said it's hard to say commute really have to notice state of

mind. then he went on to deflect and he did not sound necessarily convinced that a crime had been committed on january 6th. why am i bringing this full circle? if andy mccarthy is right and merrick garland went into mar-a-lago to try to find evidence that suggested he was guilty of a crime around januare committee would be looking at. and what bill barr said in this interview, he said during the early days of this hearing he was convinced they were going after her underlings. but towards the end, he was convinced otherwise that it was pat cipollone, maybe somebody like mark meadows and president trump he felt was certainly in the crosshairs. according to him in the interview filed last friday. >> we will follow the facts if they happen. >> i think bill is really onto something because it seems like there is a huge part of the story that is missing. and that is justification. president trump and his family members came out yesterday and said that they -- they had been working very closely with the

national archives on which documents to overturn. if that's the case why would a federal judge approve a search warrant to be executed by over a dozen fbi agent so early in the morning that it's still dark outside giving the secret service very little nervous why. what sort of information with a be looking for, unless it's politically motivated? we don't know yet. a lot of republicans seem to think so. i just want to say that the fact that half the country thinks the doj is the republican the big problem. when you think about the examples they can't be ignored, hunter biden last school board meeting set a big service -- allowing those protesters to still be there even though it breaks the law. so what will the follow-up be? i think if republicans get the opportunity they're going to clean house and launch their own, possibly politically motivated investigation. one less thing a lot of democrats are celebrating this

reports at the top of the hour. >> new york governor kathy hochul has signed a bill which replaces the word inmate with incarcerated person. in state law, one of the bills democratic sponsors in the state legislators says the word inmate dehumanizes and demoralizes convicts. this of course as the governor blame -- to fox blame for a sharp rise in crime. let's start with the first part of that though. bill, inmate, does it dehumanize? >> yesterday you are an inmate and today -- that's not cool anymore so now you are incarcerated. i just don't know where it ends. >> harris: the facts of the facts you are a prisoner, you are an inmate. and it's gender-neutral so why do we need the word person?
