standards they have lowered expectations for they have manipulated crime figures, they stopped responding to certain crimes they stopped reporting proactive police work. by the time you get to defend the police movement, the riots of 2020 and you watch leader after leader of metropolitan police departments across this country basically stand it down, give up. the suspects are paying attention. they are suspects and that is what they do for a living. they commit crimes on other people. this poor officer was just working out. and i suspect he wasn't just the victim of robbery. but he was also the victim of suspects who knew that nobody is going to be looking for them. nobody is going to stop them. certainly some officer passing by is not going to stop the crime before it happened. that is the tragedy here. anita: part of this is no cash bail laws that have come into play. they came about during the

pandemic as a way to supposedly level the playing field for so-called criminal offenders who could not afford to pay the bail. now, many are blaming that policy on repeat offenders and rising crime. big cities like los angeles, san diego, santa clara say wait a minute, it may be that didn't work. let's look into the mayor of san jose. he said this. there is a compelling reason to we can cast failed to make sure it does not perpetuate the racial and economic inequities in the criminal justice system. but we have seen too many violent and compete offenders put out in our community without suspicion supervision, drug treatment or constraints. mark, but you think about this? the no cash bail been reversed in several cities in california? >> well, it is a mouthful actually to address the no cash bail. basically return of dangerous offenders back onto the street.

respect or fear maybe. a lot has been watered down in the last couple of years. how can trust and respect for policing be restored? and is it on lawmakers on the local level, to discuss that? how do you get a return to respect for law enforcement? but you need to back to the way it was in many regards. if police officers and rewards for being an outstanding officer businesses on a job or everybody gets a trophy. the way i see law enforcement and most of these major cities now is like your house is on fire and you call the fire department. they kind of leisurely show up and they watch her house burned down to the ground but that is law enforcement we have in most major cities now. for multiple reasons. one of them is a politicized police departments of the

officers who are competent and able to go out and actually address these crime problems are thrown under the bus something goes sideways. maybe the suspect gets killed but we bury officers day in and day out, no big deal nothing to see here. you have one and suspect in the crime at all the politicians are sometimes police chiefs and now, they run and hide it. or they throw some detective or police officer under the bus. it is going to be hard to get back from that. who would want to go into a city where the reputation is if you do anything are too aggressive, if you use your gun, your fist, your baton, you are probably going to jail. where is the incentive to actually engage with the suspects? anita: that is interesting pointer is a very dangerous job.

kelly is a mantra by accusation of using his fame to systematically sexually abuse young fans including some children. legal experts describe this new trial in chicago as a sort of do over trial of 2008 state childhood pornography case. in the 2008 trial r. kelly is accused of having on video with a girl no older than 14. she did not testify during that case. and he was acquitted. the big difference in the new chicago trial is that girl is now in her 30s is expected to take the stand. this trial is setting or right something that had been wrong. it goes all the '2008. the story this indictment tells is of an effort and orchestrated effort by him and his codefendants to lie and obstruct, and secure an acquittal with her should have been a conviction way back in 2008. >> based on court documents prosecutors will likely argue
