>> we're awaiting major announcement from president biden about two hours from now. he is set to announce a student loan handout of up to $20,000. this is "outnumbered." the president tweeted this. in keeping with my campaign promise my administration is announcing a plan to give working and middle class families breathing room as they

prepare to resume federal student loan payments in januar. while he's set to an kel -- cancel billions of dollars. progressives they are not happy. they say this doesn't go far enough. critics say the move will penalize the responsible american who already paid off their loans by making them now foot the bill for those who haven't paid just yet. there are concerns of the handout will increase inflation and widen the wealth gap. let's look at the numbers. the plan is expected to give the $10,000 handout to those making less than $125,000 a year. that adds up very fast with one estimate putting it at $300 billion over the next ten years and that is on the low end. even still, that amounts to an additional $2000 for every single american taxpayer.
9:02 am
karlie, the left says handout to the rich. they complain about tax cuts. make no mistake. this is a handout to the rich. we have the numbers. anywhere from 68% to 70% of loans are going to go to those in the top 60% of the income distribution. that's a break for the rich. >> you put it exactly accurately. the unemployment rate now is 3.5%. earlier in month, the president made this whole speech calling the lowest unemployment rate in over 50 years. more people are working now than any point in american history. why would he cancel a portion of debt for a group of people who signed a contract saying they would pay it back and who are working. also a big selling point of the inflation reduction act, it would reduce the deficit by $300 billion. this would increase the deficit by that exact amount, plus the

chips act, another $300 billion on top of that. some of those things are money well spent. this really is stealing money from a group of hard working taxpayers to buy votes from people who are disproportionately wealthier, the left leaning brookings institute found that third of student let is held by the wealthiest 20% of households in this country. he's angering everything from progressives on the far left to conservatives on the right. >> and people like larry summers who is not necessarily a right wing economist. he's an economist from harvard said this could increase inflation by having colleges increase tuition. the bottom is 59% tells cnbc, this is going to increase inflation. >> yes. it will. here's one larry summers tweet
9:04 am
from earlier in the week. the worst idea will be a continuation of the current moratorium. this is the moratorium on making student loan payments that benefits among other highly paid, lawyers and investment bankers. in the short run, the worst part of this is extending the moratorium on making those student loan payments which the biden administration is going to do. they won't to make payments until end of the year. in the tweet from president biden, he said this is the final time we're gong this. oh really? don't count on it. inflation was at 8.5%. near a 40-year high. this does not but make the federal reserve job that much harder to fight inflation. at a time when inflation is the hardship that people are feeling. the greater burden on the fed,
9:05 am
the central bank to fight inflation through destroying money and raising interest rates, the deeper the recession will be going into next year. right now, one out of every six american household that make their power payments their electricity payment, this is in the middle of the summer, because electricity prices are soaring. there's never been a crises hike this ever at a time in electricity prices when americans were so far behind on their bills. the fed has to balance that with avoiding a recession. this only makes matters worse. can i add one thing? president biden should really just get out there and say, okay, i'm forgiving this debt. i'm extending the payment moratorium. screw the majority of american who don't have a four-year college degree. >> why is he doing it?
9:06 am
i will never forget this poll. we know young people disproportionately voted for joe biden. just one percent of 18 to 29 year strongly approve of the president. 94% of democrats under 30 say they wanted another candidate. this is why he's doing it. not to help you, to help him. >> we -- i know some of the surgeons and physicians who had their student loans on pause. i'm pissed. i graduated medical school with over $300,000 worth of debt. i worked ten years on paying it off. i had colleagues, some who made less than me and some more who hadn't had to pay their student loans throughout covid. president biden is just doing it again, fifth pause on the student loan payments. they make good money. they should be able to pay that back. not creating a larger federal
9:07 am
deficit. what is happening, he's furthering the equity, the wage gap here. recent poll showed about 53% of newly graduated students are not finding jobs right away. some of that is because of gen-z are not feeling the pressure to make money. more people are on food stamps he took away the work requirement and same thing happening for people graduating. you have rising tuition costs. you having to decreased quality of education. it's time for people to start paying back their student loans and you need to expand public service people who go into public service, help them pay off student loans. not everyone. this is not going to help. it checks the box for him because of his campaign. >> that's extraordinary what you

9:09 am
what they are doing, making generations of americans have to pay fair this -- for this one. you can't keep borrowing and borrowing. even the u.s. can't just keep borrowing and borrowing. if you get in this kind of debt and you say personal debt can be taken on effectively as national debt, go through this cycle passing the blame on to future generations. it's really indecent to the generations coming after us. >> it isn't going to work politically. you had the head of naacp saying this is true, we got a problem. he's asking for more. >> this is what is so perplexing about this. it really does anger groups of people across the political spectrum. he brought up that poll that shows the president is extremely
9:10 am
unpopular among young people. those are the least reliable voters. why would he be trying to buy votes from that group of people? also, why 125,000-dollar. you get your student loan canceled if you making a six figure salary. imagine what that looks like to somebody who didn't have a college because they couldn't afford it. they recognize they have to pay for a rich person's student loans. how is that going to play. >> it's a quarter of a million dollar for a couple. it's not just -- i use this -- i selectively chose the word screw. i get accused of being so angry on tv. i will say this with clinch teeth. seethingly. it's screwing people who didn't go to college. screwing people who paid their own way. it's screwing the parents who paid their children's own way.
9:11 am
it's screwing anybody trying to deal with the burden of inflation. >> that's the electrician, plumber and trade worker, who by the way, these were reagan voters who became trump voters who are now republican voters. this is likely to entrench that. >> why are they bailing out people. the other thing is, about the larry summers quote. one of the scandals in this country is the escalation of student fees. the universities should be giving incentive to pull the fees back. lower the fees in this country. the escalation of fees in the u.s..has to do with the growing bureaucracy in american education. they got a bigger bureaucracy they are paying for now. that should be brought down. the universities should be encouraged to bring it down. it's likely just encourage them to keep floating the cost of tuition up. >> where is my bailout?
