descending into poverty. the most advanced continental and the planet, the birthplace of western civilization is getting much poorer, moving backwards at a high speed. just a year ago, europe was in a modern place. the overwhelming majority of europeans filled their homes with natural gas, as modern people do. in germany, the world's richest country, only about 6% of households heated their homes with -- and you can expect that given that germany is a modern, industrialized country, with central heating, indoor plumbing, the trappings of a modern society that has -- last year, only 6% of germans used wood to get their homes, but it's risen so fast, the demand, that there is none left to buy. so now, germans are cutting their own, scouring the forest

like their ancestors. >> some in germany are taking matters into their own hands. >> about two hours outside of berlin, residents of the small town -- to go have to be innovative for this project organizer, if you don't -- it will never succeed. this village -- of 60 people. >> so they call it biomass, but it is -- wood. tonight, cars queued up outside of coal mines looking for fuel. it's beyond imagination, 167-year-old polish man told reuters. people were sleeping in their cars.

"i remember communist times." france had so much energy that they were a net exporter of energy. 70% -- will go under, why? because -- happens across europe in every country. the question is why is it happening, and the answer is there is an energy shortage in europe. cheap energy is essential, the key to everything a normal society strive four: safety, sprouts -- safety, prosperity, the high life expectancy for its citizenry. energy costs in europe are expected to increase by hundreds of percents in coming months.

germany's prices for electricity of the benchmark f for all of europe, which just exceeded a thousand euros for the first time in history. just a week ago, last monday, the cost was about 700 euros, a record. in other words, that price was approaching 50% rising in a single week. in france, it rose 25% in one day, last friday. here is what europe looks like tonight. because this long, hot summer gives way to what officials worry could be a bitterly cold winter. skyrocketing energy prices have put europe -- what is described as a hybrid war. russia uses resources uses resources "like it does food."

food prices have doubled, coal prices have quadrupled, and natural gas, now seven times more expensive than last year. >> turns out if you don't have cheap natural gas, you can't run the continent. having a graduate degree in the beginning of a city in the united states come he might have been shocked by this, but fossil fuels were on their way out any day now! he met a floppy because our own -- you might have thought that because our own leaders have told us that for decades, that the future is here! as recently as eczema -- as recently as next month, the world economic forum says -- $1 trillion in economic costs by switzerland's renewal, but this might not shock you. they had no clue what they were talking about. they knew nothing about the subject, something they talked about endlessly. green energy can't replace

fossil fuels on a time soon. they remain with they've always been, which is the key to civilization, and has been true since homo erectus started the first -- in a cave nearly 1 million years ago. so-called green energy is nowhere near her place and, oil, coal -- is nowhere near replacing gas, oil, coal. could have figured this out and about 10 minutes, they couldn't replace fossil fuels with renewable, green energy. they must have known that. when they told otherwise, it was childish and destructive fantasy talk -- millions of their citizens. the green new deal means what it always meant on poverty. people pushing it must've known that all along. they don't actually believe climate change is an imminent threat. if they did, the first thing

they would have done, the first would have been to ban private jets, but to this day, al gore still flies on private jets, barack obama -- and beachfront property. they are all in on it. it's a scam, because they will personally escape the consequences of their own policies. when the french president says that his people are facing the end of abundance, he's not talking about himself. emmanuel macron and all of them understand that they will always be rich and protected. they know that for certain. what is very interesting is that suddenly, everyone else that has been paying attention can see that they were lying. the entire population of europe now knows that. four years ago, trump warned europe that the energy --

the german delegation laughed at him. >> germany will become totally dependent on russian energy if it does not immediately change course. here in the western hemisphere, we committed to maintaining -- from the encroachment of expansionist flow would have. it's been the formal policy of our country's president munro -- monty roe -- -- >> they are laughing. but, they are not laughing anymore. europeans have discovered that tthe real threat to human civilization was never global warming: the real threat to people is global cooling, winter. far more people freeze to death every year than die of heat.

2019, four times as many people died of cold as of heat to come according to the institute -- so when temperatures in europe -- this is a huge problem, which will be obvious to everyone that it's not global warming, its global cooling. that will kill your grandma. when everyone understands that perfectly well, a lot of things will happen. the status quo will crumble, factories will close, factories will rise, disposable income will disappear. this country, 60% of americans cannot cover a $400 unexpected expense, and credit card debt is increasing year over 13% good household that has hit an all-time record of $15.28 trillion. it's also -- so, high -- so, how

will spiraling energy costs affect all this? when the cost of keeping your apartment warm jumps 100% per year, you become a completely different person. you don't want -- $1400 iphone, shopping at whole foods, even picking up and exta cappuccino. the economy grinds to a halt because -- so it's impossible to overstate the downstream effects of this on -- how are central banks responding to this? not well. seems to be making things worse. in the united states, we seem to -- we are told not to notice what the fed does. they are announcing that "leadership of the federal reserve has become its most -- that are more female, black, and gay officials contributing to the fed's decision -- over time year

history." in other words "relax, we've got affirmative action, everything fine." the same central banks that intentionally caused inflation, the central banks that are hiking rates -- destroying demand. the problem is, this is not a demand problem, this is a supply problem. it stems primarily from the work in -- the war in ukraine. because of the outcome of the west doesn't have enough energy to maintain its economy and society. your response to that war is by imposing sanctions that they knew would inevitably cause energy shortages. they knew it when they did it. here is the president of the european commission back in may. >> i would like to be clear: it will not be easy, because some member states are strongly dependent on russian oil, but we simply have to do it, so today, we will proposed to ban all

russian oil from europe. >> are you going to be keeping your apartment at 49 degrees fahrenheit? will you be walking to work? of course not, you will have everything you want, but the rest of us "simply have to do it." it's not just energy being affected by these sanctions. russia wanted -- it says that food shortages are inevitable in russia. >> president biden: in regards to a food shortage, yes we did discuss this. it's going to be real. the price of the sanctions has not just imposed upon russia. it's imposed upon a lot of countries as well, including european countries and our country as well. >> so we are going to have to buckle down for freedom, shovel billions to ukrainian oligarchs. hate the united states because it's the right thing to do.

so, did these sections hurt russia? they caused energy shortages in the last. russia today has more than enough energy than a canoes itself. they have so much excess natural gas, but it's simply setting it on fire, flaring it, as they say. they are burning $10 million worth of natural gas every day. seems like it should be a big story. the media coverage -- "scientists are concerned about the large carbon dioxide -- exacerbate the melting of arctic ice. that is your concern for global warming? but, the immediate effect is to make it impossible for people to stay warm. you can reach a place in your society where the people in charge and the media become so completely disconnected from the

concerns of actual people, so totally uninterested in the lives of their citizens, society is very volatile, and we are fast approaching that. the war and ukraine -- we establish energy flows into europe. is joe biden doing that? other reckless leaders like boris johnson, are they doing that? no, they are getting billions more from dying economies to ukrainian oligarchs for no good reason. $2.8 billion to ukraine, and a country where 70% of -- because they can't afford electricity. the government is preparing for power outages in the middle of winter. as the guardian reported "this official debut -- could experience blackouts of several days in january if cold weather combines gas shortages."

of course cold-weather will combine with gas shortages, because that is when people use gas: when the weather is cold. it's not just happening in the u.k., it's happening everywhere. spain -- 50 million euros for ukraine, not including funding for military. another news, congress just implemented temperature controls on commercial buildings. air conditioning must be no cooler than a 27 degrees celsius, 80 degrees fahrenheit. after 10:00 p.m., shop windows and -- public windows will be lit. italy has allocated more than 600 million euros for ukrainian refugees, but at the same time, air conditioning and italian schools and public buildings -- that the government labeled "operation thermostat" that began in may. italy's ukraine funding is not quite as much as france. francis had $2 billion -- to the

ukraine, and they are currently fining shopkeepers for keeping their doors open, and -- to one of the most corrupt governments in the world. banned from 1:00 a.m.-6:00 a.m. the united states has sent more than $10 billion in military 19 packages of weapons to a mitch mcconnell tells us is the most important thing in the world. congress has approved more than $30 billion in additional spending. how's that working out? winning the war in ukraine. have we bankrupted vladimir putin? they just hit a seven-year high. take a look at this chart comparing the russian ruble against europe. russia is doing well, europe is not. joe biden is calling for unconditional surrender from vladimir putin. here's the weird thing: play any reality-based measure, vladimir putin is not losing the war in ukraine when he's winning

at the war in ukraine, andrew biden says we won't stop until you -- unconditional surrender. this is not just bad policy: this makes no sense. it only makes sense if the goal is to completely destroy it in the west in order to make way for chinese global dominance. what with the other explanation for this week? doug mcgregor joins us to assess all of this. i'm just wondering, this war has consequences not only for the ukrainians and the russian government, but for the west, particularly our people. for -- how long to extend this war -- factor that in? >> i think there is an easy answer to that question: absolutely not. there was no careful study of preparation for this policy in any way, shape, or form, and more importantly, the points you've made should give pause to

the ruling elites of europe and united states to remember that in 1789, the french revolution broke out when the people of paris could no longer afford to buy bread. where are we headed? we headed where our population can't afford to care for itself, can't operate without infrastructure? i think it's a very real challenge. i think it's going to hit europe very hard this winter. >> populations the reticle when their standard of living moves backwards. people think things are going better, the american dream -- but when they start sliding in the wrong direction, is this a concern for boris johnson, emmanuel macron, or joe biden? >> if it isn't for the people in your the ruling elites there, it should be, because we will see

it there first before here. as far as the energy, yes, end the war in ukraine, lift the sanctions against russia. they are doing former damage to us than they are to russia. that's part of it, but here's the problem, certainly since biden came in he has done everything in his power to effectively stop the investment of capital in the energy sector. capital has migrated away from energy. we have not built a new refinery in the united states since the 1970s. he canceled the keystone pipeline. the problem with those things is that it takes years to build the infrastructure, so you don't see energy flows improve. lost touch with another reality. 30-40 years ago, we had huge populations in india and china and the new economies of demand energy. >> we are lifetimes away from
