reading. and 7 points in math since the start of covid-19. and the lockdown. this is the biggest decrease we have seen in reading in 30 years and it's the deepest year over year decline in math scores on record. these numbers are indeed alarming. but they are part of an even more alarming trend. efficiency in reading and math they have been on a downward slide for better part of a decade and covid made it worse. school lockdown crushed students' ability to learn. and no one had a bigger role in keeping schools closed than the president of the american federation of teachers, randy weingarten. she found-she fought tooth and nail for kids and teachers to stay at home as long as possible. and now, she is rewriting history. >> the effects of that disruption. do you have any regrets for not advocating in a more strong fashion for a faster return to

in person learning? >> so this is where i'm going to really disagree with you. i mean, i was -- i personally i have been pushing for the return to in person learning since april of 2020. could we overcome all the fear? i wish we could have. but i don't think it's anybody's fault that we didn't understand what was going on in terms of school. >> pete: april of 2020? that's a flat out lie. and lucky for us, we have the tape to prove it randy and her teacher union friends had zero interest in returning to the classroom. >> we have an obligation to make remote better because until we can really decrease community spread throughout the united states, distance learning and distance working is going to be a fact of life. >> the reason we raise the issue about as a last resort on a local basis, a safety strike

action is because we are really concerned as schools start opening in august that you got the deniers and you have got the mac thinking. >> we know people need in person learning and remote instruction is no substitute for it but it has to be safe! >> pete: she said she has been fighting for it since april of 2020. all of those collision are from july and august of 2020 they say they are about protecting the kids. if these people wanted to make schools safer who kids could return to the classroom they would have actually spent, i don't know, the money designated for covid changes in schools to make it easier to reopen? i mean, isn't that what they say they wanted all along? more money? well, get this, of the 122 billion in federal money set aside for schools, barely over 15 billion has been spent. that means almost 90% of the

covid money is untouched. i'm sure they will spend the remaining 100 billion very wisely. how many diversity, equity and inclusion advisers and investors can you hire for that? and it gets worse. they are not taking any responsibility for the damage they have caused. instead, they are passing the blame on to somebody else, and you know who they are blaming. here is what education secretary miguel cardona said this week and i quote: today's data confirmed the significant impact the prior administration's mismanagement of the pandemic has had on our children's progress and academic well-being. we must repair the damage done by orange man bad donald trump's mismanagement of the pandemic and we will. what world are these people living in? donald trump said over and over again open the school. >> got to go to school. we have got to open up. we have got to open up our schools and open up our businesses. >> i want to say get open in the fall. we want your schools open.

detailed list of what the fbi seized from president trump's home as she continues to deliberate whether or not to appoint a special master to review trump's files. so what did the fbi take? well, a lot of reading material, a whole bunch of books, over 18 pieces of clothing or gift items more than 1500 magazines newspapers, the president like to have those. they also took over 90 completely empty classified on them or concern return to staff secretary military aid. they seized over 11,000 pictures and documents with no classification marks on them and we already knew about the supposed secret top secret confidential documents they took that weren't stored to their liking all of which may have been classified by president trump. look at that staged photo the doj released tuesday the one that the liberal media loves oh so much.

the walls are closing in are. the information we learned today not the we know it was a general search warrant. actually what the doj says about their investigation into the filing release. the doj wrote that they have already evaluated all of the items they seized, they are now looking into the much further in a much more detailed manner in order to develop, quote, additional evidence as part of the ongoing grand jury probe. why they were really there. the presidential records law was just a predicate to enter mar-a-lago. the doj is now scrubbing through the items looking for new evidence. there's other investigation that they need evidence to find they used the national archives to access mar-a-lago but they were interested in finding something else. what could that be? brett tolman is a former u.s.

attorney and right on crime executive director. what were they looking for? they released the detailed manifest of what they have yet they also admit they were looking for other things. what does that mean in your mind. >> yeah. you can see clearly that the department of justice is losing the pr battle. so what do they do? they bring out what they often do when they are behind, they bring out pictures that might inflame those that already hate donald trump. they bring out the perp walk type mentality. pictures of the classified cover sheets. when you back away from it and look at it. it screams of a case where they had an overbroad search warrant. they gathered everything they possibly could, they don't have clear guidance of what they're looking for. i think they are looking just for everything they possibly can because they are afraid of donald trump running again in 2024 they admitted it special

master someone should go through this and determine what should be applicable to the warrant and what has been ceased so they could look at other things. today on our network, bill barr, a former attorney general said that appointing a special master is just a red herring, is it a red herring or a serious step to try determine determine what actually happened. >> i'm glad you brought up the general warrant. this is in fact a general warrant. it's constitutional. that argument is going to be made. a special master is an objective third party not involved in the litigation and not part of doj. >> that's why you see the department of justice fighting against it. it's unusual for sure. the attorney general barr is correct. that it is -- it's unexpected. he turns a red herring, but i think it's a little more troublesome forever for the department of justice. they don't want someone else having insight into what they are looking at and having a different opinion. they are used to controlling the

narrative. >> pete: they didn't expect this. they are used to controlling the narrative. by the way, this is a former president, so they are forced to show the goods. and this is what struck me about what came out today. they rereleased the manifest. admit they are scrubbing it to look for additional crime. that's effectively what they admitted they are doing. >> yeah. i mean, pete, it's not the flex that they think it is. when you usually see a picture of stacks of cash and drugs and weapons, you know, it can inspire you to think that your law enforcement is really taking down a bad guy. here, that's not what we are looking at. we are looking at random documents, empty folders, on an individual who was absolutely entitled to look at anything he wanted. and, oh, by the way, he can declassify classified material. so this is different than a regular citizen and i have worked on cases where they possessed unlawfully classified material. this is not that case.

the white house is already playing defense on this story claiming these communications between facebook and the white house started during the trump administration. but who is really believing that? louisiana attorney general jeff landry joins you now to walk us through his court filing. attorney general, walk us through that court filing. what are you attempting to expose here? >> what we are attempting to expose is basically that the government infringed upon citizens and others who were disseminating that information fir first amendment right. so let's use this as an example, if you were a police officer and you believed there was criminal activity at a house but you didn't have probable cause to to be able to get in that house to get into that house. their neighbor now becomes a government actor, right? >> sure. >> that warrant would basically fall on its face.

there is. you are saying when big tech companies work as an arm of the government, they lose their protected status as neutral platform. >> that's exactly right. they no longer can put up this thing i'm a private actor. i can control things on my plat form. when the government basically tells you i need you to go do something and then you go do it, you no longer have that shield. you become a government actor. and that's what this case is about. what was remarkable was the ability for us to actually get over the discovery on or about stack and when we were able to -- when the judge allowed the discovery to happen and then starting to flood discovery. the things that we started to find were really astonishing. it was things that we believed. really hoped it wasn't true, but it is. and americans on either side of the aisle should be concerned.
