flight instruction. we do not believe he's a licensed pilot. that is still ongoing to discover that. he is an employee of tupelo aviation and has been for ten years so he has access to these aircraft. he is a linemen for tupelo aviation which means he fuel it is aircraft. we do know that that aircraft was fully fueled the night before. at approximately 5:00 a.m. paterson from the aircraft calls lee county 911 to tell them that he's going to crash this aircraft into the west main wal-mart in tupelo, mississippi, soon thereafter they evacuated west main wal-mart in tupelo and surrounding areas and assisted by lee county so and numerous major streets in tupelo were shut down to help save lives during critical incident.
10:12 am
negotiatorsfrom tupelo police department made contact with the pilot and were able to convince him to not carry out this deed and to land the aircraft at tupelo aircraft. the pilot did not have experience to land an aircraft. a private pilot assisted us in helping this pilot complete this, however, it was not completed. upon final approach the pilot aborted the landing and traveled northwest direction away from tupleo word union and tifa and denton county. at this time we contacted all of those counties and their sheriffs to notify them of this incident going on. at approximately 9:32 the pilot posted on facebook a message in an e seasons it said good-bye. at this time we know he was getting close to running out of fuel. at 10:08 a.m., faa lost radar

10:16 am
thousands of americans mostly on the right stormed the capitol of power and most on the right are running on platform they will not certify elections in the future. to me that's quite evident that it represents threat to democracy. now when you talk about it coming from the right as i just did, of course, it's also political but both can be true. alicia: ted, i want to bring you into this conversation here. when you hear that and you think about folks, i spend a lot of time in the midwest and talk to a lot of folks who voted for the former president, they have those red hats, how is this not political to them, how did they hear this? >> well, of course, it's political, my mother, 88 year's old she's an air force widow, my dad fought in vietnam war, flew 78 missions in the vietnam war, he's american hero by any count. my mother is a trump supporter.
10:17 am
she's 88 year's old, does that make her extremist that's a threat to this country. i don't think so. that is what donald trump and my colleague here on the panel is saying is that my mother, an 88-year-old woman is a threat to the country. a threat to democracy because she votes for republicans who believe that we should have sovereign borders, believe that we should honor life that we should have peace in the middle east with the abraham accords. this is the incredible things that trump actually promoted and did but to support that, you are called an extremist and if you don't support the radical ideas of this administration, then this administration is going to put the fbi on you and call you a domestic terrorist and that's essentially where we are in this country with this administration can go after their political enemies on broadcast tv prime time and say that 71 million
10:18 am
people that support the trump administration are extremists and that's just ridiculous but that's where we are as a country. alicia: al, i want to give you a chance to respond to what ted said, however, i do have one question. i'm in colorado and this also happened in michigan. if there are trump supporters and maga style candidates and such a threat to democracy, why is it that nancy pelosi super pac spent so much money during primaries trying to elevate these candidates. that's one of the questions here? >> look, that's a fair question, alicia and it's evident hypocrisy. the reason that some democratic operatives elevate those candidates is they believe they will be more likely to lose. so i'm going to admit that, that's what's going on here. back to ted's comments, look, first of all, your mom, your father who is a hero, they are not the problem, the fact that they support the policy positions that's not a problem, people have the right in america to have whatever position they
