are you surprised? >> 40%, that's unthinkable in 2022 but when you have the rhetoric the president biden used thursday calling 74 million of fellow americans nazis and the biggest threat to this country, maybe there's a reason people are feeling this way. most of the people i see, they are good and kind and polite to each other and i look back to this one gallup poll this telling, 84% of americans agree the media is to blame for political vision in this country so perhaps that's what's stoking it but four out of ten people thinking we could have another civil war in this country, that is disturbing. >> civil war, is that a bit much? students need better treatment, not equal treatment and i guess we can't get the muster. i can't think of anything more racist. >> i agree, it racism and action. the numbers we saw, reading and math numbers, nobody was more effective than black children and i think the rhetoric keira was referring to where everybody wanted schools to open was racist which clearly made no sense, it impacted this and the fact that black kids didn't get to go to school when their white counterparts did had immeasurable impact on their lives and nobody has been held accountable and the fact is we are going to keep seeing this decline in numbers until we face what we've done. i don't think it's over, i think for example i know my own family we see a delay in what our kids

know based on closures lived through. were getting our kids help but not everybody is able too and i think we will see numbers continue to decrease. >> it's like we are going back in time instead of getting the kids proper education, they would just change the state, i think of anything more insulting. thank you for joining the program. with all politics in the educational space, no wonder we have a teacher shortage. l.a. alone, a new study revealed 70% of teachers have considered or are considering leaving the profession entirely. last week we introduced you to a teachers focus group and we are bringing them back to discuss school board that have become a controversial unilateral decision maker. >> we talk about leadership and we have folks in leadership that are ministers. what can they do to support teachers? >> i've been incredibly blessed because of been at the same school 19 years.

teachers at my school don't leave for random reasons and if they have to leave, they are very upset because we have such incredible leadership. happy teachers make happy kids and happy kids are learners. that's incredibly important and the district as a whole to teach and is extremely supportive. >> is it a numbers game the further away largest school districts, you just become a number because they have so many teachers there? the same for students who can't address every single problem. >> at times it can be because i have worked in a number of different schools but sometimes it's the district and sometimes districts put pressure on administrators and the administrators have to put the pressure on the teachers. unfortunately it falls to the lapse of the teachers. >> how do we recruit younger teachers, how do we raise standards for the profession with respect again? >> we have 122 billion dollars

sitting there from the american rescue plan. only 7% as of this past may has been spent. not sure why but why don't we put some of that funding into our talents? let's make teaching fun again. >> what you think it will take to recruit new, fresh talents and retain the ones we have? >> retaining i think depends on the district, the leadership. i teach 500 students because i teach the entire school. i am an elementary music teacher so i see k through four, that support system really needs to be there for the teachers to feel like i want to continue teaching. >> teachers have to buy a lot of supplies and stuff themselves. do you think that turning the profession as well? they're not making that much

already and now they have to pay for the stuff? >> absolutely, that's one trend people wonder. i know an elementary my daughter was going, who would get a laundry list of things teachers asked us to bring in and i would say i bring two to three bags of supplies the class would utilize through the year and during december we get a list that comes home during break where they say the things we are short on, anything you can do we appreciate but why isn't the school covering that? if they are school supplies for the classroom, shouldn't the school and county be responsible for covering the expenses? who want successful students than we need all the right tools at our disposal at every time we need them. >> next, latest details out of the florida fans

apartment in april. the 26-year-old is claiming self-defense, prosecutors say evidence says otherwise. she's charged with second-degree murder. joining enough to break down, bryan. thank you for joining the program. you have a lot of insight on this, they have this tumultuous relationship, like back-and-forth, they were going to get kicked out of the apartment because they were seen during this nonsense and she stabs the guy and pleads self-defense? where does this go? >> great to be back with you. this was a horrific case and let's start with second-degree murder, that doesn't require premeditation so this is something not premeditated but what the prosecutors do have to prove beyond reasonable doubt is she had a depraved mind when she stabbed the victim so that's going to be a daunting task for the prosecutors but here's how they do it.

prosecutors are going to show through semantics hibbs clarion artery was sliced, just below your clavicle, the main artery was sliced. she says i took the knife 6 feet away and threw the knife at him so forensics, that's going to come for prosecution as a way to minute, it has to be a close range stabbing and probably due to anger. conversely, she's going to argue look, i am the victim of domestic abuse virus defending myself but she lied about the 6 feet it wasn't 60 toss with the knife, is the jury going to believe her? number two, are -- is there evidence of prior police to report? as she called the police on him to prove they have been prior disputes between the two? >> before i let you go, first cops shut the investigation down, issue going to use it in her defense and say the cops

shut this down and prosecutors gave it a second look and now they are trying to charge me because there investigators? does she put cops on the stand for her case? >> good question. i don't think that will come in but you are raising good points, why in the world was she not arrested? have blood -- by the way, she had blood, massive blood all over her sweatpants, on her bra, that to me signals a crime of anger and passion. another thing, the videotape mothers videotape months prior of her pummeling him in the elevator. >> you see on the screen right now. >> i didn't see that. so real quick, two ways to get evidence, one is your own case, i don't think the prosecutors can get that video in their case but when she puts up the argument self-defense, i'm a domestic violence victim, prosecutors can use this video

doctor fauci, we seen backlash against him. we seen backlash the last few years and it's because of these mandates. one day you have to wear a mask in the next day you don't but if the next day the masks are kind of working in the next day the masks really don't work. whether or not we should get boosters, whether or not vaccines are working the way they need to be working. even right now coming up with a new booster shot this fall, a lot of people are saying we don't know if there's enough science behind the booster shots. we've seen it work in mice but will it work in humans? people are waiting to see if they are going to do it but i think what is so gutwrenching is what happened to our children and what they have done to our children in schools and also incense.
