documents including some marked top-secret along with some empty folders with classified markings for an agent also took over 1000 documents that were not classified by printed news articles but let's bring in tom depree farming deputy attorney general for tom, thank you so much for joining us on this holiday weekend. we appreciate your time. getting right to this part of the story the trumpet legal team would like a special master to be appointed the justice department think that will be unnecessarily heard terms own attorney general calling it a waste of time for the judge is yet to rule. your thoughts on this potential appointment of a special master? >> molly, i understand the former attorney general is saying where he thought it may not really be productive it could be a waste of time for it my that the biggest consequence of a special master when it's appointed is that probably would delay things. in other words right now this investigation seems to be moving on fairly quickly. i think of a special master were to come in for one thing would probably take weeks to even

choose a special master he would have to find someone who would do the job, with a high enough security clearance. then it would probably take months, months for that special master to wade through all the documents that the d.o.j.'s eades from mar-a-lago for. >> quickly before we move on from this part of what were talking about, they judge it does seem to be considering it. your thoughts on the possibility? you think is going to happen? >> if i were a betting man i would say yes. this a judge originally said she was inclined to this point a special master. during the hearing she still has an open mind she still weighing in. my guess is she wanted to take a little bit of time to make sure she got it right spirit i would suspect she will issue a thoughtful written opinion was citation to legal precedents and the right. she understands how important this case and this issue is read my sense is she wants to make sure she got it right and wrote a good opinion on the question. >> what site sort of person would we expect to be the special master if this does happen? what's good question. number one are going to need someone who is experienced in this area of the law. so often you would find to save

a retired judge for you could find a senior lawyer ideally someone who is respected throughout the legal and political communities. to my earlier point you also need to find someone with a security clearance to review all these documents but a lot of them are classified in a pretty high level. she can't just grab someone off the street with no security clearance expect them to look through it. that actually narrows the universe of potential special master candidates pretty narrowly. >> i would expect so for this court filing unfilled field on friday revealed normal details on the material is not a whole lot. do not get the flip to them ourselves. the paperwork found has been listed as classified or classified markings some say top-secret some secret their empty folders as well which begs the question of what is missing? where the missing documents? how significant is it their empty folders and missing items? the obvious implication is one time there were classified

documents in the boulders but who knows where they are now. i think that is something the former president legal team is going to have to explain. i think also the government is going to be able to figure out what was in those folders but internet classified documents in a folder like that at the pretty tight control of the chain of custody. they're going to know what documents were in that folder but that does not answer the question as to where the documents are today. >> a tight chain of custody at boxes of documents were down at mar-a-lago. you think it's at all likely the justice department will ultimately charge the former president related to his possession of these documents? or the mishandling of defense information? what is the likelihood? what's the likelihood is increasing. i would say right now expect the first line of consideration on the former present himself but on the lawyers who at least according to the justice department released false statements in context of the

investigation. these lawyers and promised us there is no more classified documents they are they promised us they did diligent that may not have been entirely true. thus the first line of attack as this moves ahead. >> is that a legal strategy blamed the legal experts? [laughter] >> it is a common historic strategy to blame the lawyers. we'll look someone told us to say these things. someone told us the search was being conducted but someone told us there were no more classified documents there. i would suspect this investigations going to go on for quite a bit of time. >> when you think about the president's pushback. they're in control of lawyers, media their abuse of power that has occurred down there. your thoughts on the way the president of the former president trump is pushing back? >> this is the same type of

strategy he has deployed its controversies over the years he really likes to get out there in the court of public opinion and make his case. how he perceives the unfair treatment and what the prosecutors are doing wrong. look, and my view i do not buy any of the idea that fbi is correct it's not a corrupt agency i certainly do not agree with the former president there. the strategy is consistent with the weights attacked by the investigation. the legitimacy and the fairness and neutrality of those who are carrying it out. >> tom depree thank you for your time on this labor day weekend. next there's a suspect in the kidnapping of a memphis teacher and heiress, turns out he did time for another kidnapping. but there are still a lot of unanswered questions. like where is eliza fletcher? a closer look at the case coming up next.

kidnapping occurred which is the predatory kidnapping someone was going down the street saw a target decided to take action and make an attack? was this a planned attack those directly put in play with the logistics and support for it. or have to dig in as if that's possibly the case here. they're going to look at computers, text messaging, phone calls, information. people involved in the victim's life appeared and all involved in the suspects life to make correlation as to what went on here. it's affecting cleaning the interior of the floor what they cleaner. and he was his clothes in the house. this goes to show the police have been talking to people the neighborhood trying to figure

out where exactly this person is. looking at that, hearing those details what does that tell you? >> we are not going to give up hope yet. when we train people to defend themselves, we always tell people you do not want to address secondary location. you fight your fight in that location when the attacker comes to you. often times these these things escalate when the victim is taken to a secondary location. that often leads to other crimes and bad outcomes. before do have a sense of this is a crime or someone acting alone or if there were more people involved here? do we have a sense to whether or not this suspect is cooperating with police? >> we do not know that yet. i would suspect there was more than one person involved in t

this. based on the law enforcement response that i saw, it looked like they had prepared to age and one on one suspect at the time. in the course of an investigation or narcotics were involved in the links between those individuals. this could be a predatory check one person's driving down the street. or could be something planned and thought out. rich: do have a sense in this case or generally speaking if there is a suspect that is not cooperating with law enfor enforcement, what is the next route here? how do police officers deal with someone who they have taken into custody and is not cooperating? they are allowed the right to not cooperate. we respect that. within put pressure on family friends and associates and see what they know see what information they're willing to give out. some of that information may be able to leverage the non-

cooperator to come forward. there been cases when certain information evidence was recovered. we sent to the attorney who is representing the person not cooperating the decision is sometimes made to cooperate and come forward. also pressure on all the folks within his inner circle that may have information that may be helpful. it will be applied going forward as the authors and authorities go through whatever information they have two try to sift through in there. >> dan we have seen runners. usually in cases women runners have been abducted. women runners are also very often harassed verbally, physically. what can and should runners and joggers to do to be more aware of their surroundings? how can they defend themselves and make sure they are safe when they go out for run in the morning? >> you should run in the areas you are comfortable with that or where you are not alone. i know it's tough when you're doing a 4:30 a.m. run.

of two after a man with a disturbing past was arrested in connection with her abduction. now charged with a specially aggravated kidnapping and tampering with evidence. there is a lot more to this story. christina coleman live with the latest. >> we just got a copy of the arrest affidavit. the suspect tried to get away from law enforcement was detained. 38-year-old cleotha abston. they also located the vehicle of interest in this case. a dark-colored suv. as for the victim, eliza fletcher is still missing. she has not been found. last seen early friday morning around 4:20 a.m. she was jogging when she was abducted and forced into the suv. her water bottle and cell phones were found in front of a house owned by the university. fletcher is reportedly a alien air heiress and private teacher.

i expect britton will weather the storm. the uk is expected to be the world leader in confronting latimer putin over the ukraine crisis. it has been a very powerful opponent for putin and i expect that that will continue as she becomes prime minister. >> boris johnson has been very supportive. you do not think that that will change? what about relations with the united states? what shall we expect to see in this country as you expect her to become prime minister? >> i think more assertive in standing up to joe biden. joe biden has been absolutely awful in terms of his dealings with the united kingdom. critical of brexit. he has been, i think, very disruptive in regards to the protocol issue. joe biden has not been a close friend of the united kingdom.

i think liz will be standing up to joe biden on the world stage. we will see stronger british leadership globally. joe biden has been a very weak leader of the free world. she will be a very powerful figure on the international stage. she is going to, i think be more forceful than joe biden has been confronting the chinese threat. so, i think that in this age of diminishing american leadership, we are going to see increasingly robust british leadership on the world stage and that is a very good thing. john: very quickly, joe biden came into office parking has long experience, decades really, of experience on the foreign relations committee. he was going to fix a lot of u.s. interests around the world. you don't think that that has happened with respect to great

without access to clean tap water after flooding overwhelmed the cities water treatment plant. the damage could take months to repair. charles watson is in jackson with the very latest. >> good afternoon. there is still major concerns about the cities ailing water treatment plant. he is hopeful that residents could see the return of safe and reliable water in a matter of days. >> in terms of having water that will be approved by the department of health, as having tested and, you know, is fit for consumption, i think that it is a matter of days, not weeks. >> businesses like rod street baking company are pivoting while a boil water notice is in effect. an extra $3000 a week on bottled water to keep business going. >> we know exactly what to deal. it is second nature for us.
