scolding them or demeaning them, but that is how the president speech landed for many conservatives of goodwell. the new york times says they are running a political operation in which the threat to democracy as leverage use to keep swing voters on side without having to make difficult concessions to the center or the right. maybe this threat too democracy is not much of a threat. the president is not wildly popular. can he afford to lose the new york times and the washington post? >> it is too early to tell if this was a political misstep. the early indications say that it probably was. you just quoted from the times, i read that whole column and ross hits on a very important point which goes to the tell in this. the democrats do not believe that they are on rhetoric.

matter our political affiliation >> tommy, what did you hear in the speech? >> i hear that she is helping people did not actually watch the speech. she can somehow make it seemed like it was unified because people did not take the time to listen to it. i think it is a great point to be made, the strategy behind all of this. at first when i saw what happened with the fbi raid, when i saw what happened with this horrible speech, i thought this was just attacking republicans. i think that this is almost a strategy by the democrats to rile up trump supporters. to get him to announce he will run in 2024 and that will make those hesitant, never trumpeters out there, mainstream republicans maybe vote a little bit differently. maybe it will prop up donald trump. at may not be what is good for the republican party.

particular parties. look at the vote for trump. the enemies of the state. people that voted against hillary clinton by choosing trump. people angry with the establishment. their people fed up with failure by government with bureaucratic overreach with the arm of weight and government coming down on them. then they see irs agents over 10 years. they had a leak of information related to form 990s. nonprofit filings. some information about americans of 130,000 americans. that is what the common man thinks. when will i be the victim directly or the indirect victim of a bad government structure. >> this is definitely a new tactic we are seeing to criticize half the country for not supporting the current administration. what do new immigrants, new americans, what do they think

♪ >> welcome back to the big sunday show. fox news alert. tonight there is a frantic search for missing mother of two who was kidnapped while she was jogging near the university of memphis. the suspected suspect is in custody. christina coleman is live with the latest details. >> memphis police say the abduction of eliza fletcher was violent and caught on surveillance video. the suspect cleotha abston is the man seen in that video who violently forced eliza fletcher

into an suv. the two struggled during the incident. several people later reported that they saw cleotha abston clean out his suv with floor cleaner and behaving oddly. they believe he was trying to clean blood out of his vehicle. also trying to get away from u.s. marshals yesterday when they found him in his suv. he was taken into custody. he has now charged with tampering with custody and an especially aggravated kidnapping fletcher is a billionaire heiress in a private school teacher. she was jogging near the university of memphis campus when she was attacked. cleotha abston has declined to provide investigators her location. this is not the first time he has been accused of kidnapping. twenty-two years ago he was convicted of kidnapping and aggravated robbery for forcing a prominent memphis attorney into the trunk of his car at gunpoint

♪ anita: welcome back to the big sunday show. police officers to truckers this labor day, it is about honoring the men and women that work hard to keep this country moving. each one of us thought about a job that we think deserves to be highlighted. i would like to highlight police officers all over the united states at a been defunded, demoralized sided by millions of americans over the past couple of years. they walk out of their front doors every day and they don't know if they will be coming home. they have also been the recent target of assassination attempts and many of them have been murdered just for wearing the uniform yet they still go out to help fight crime and say people from payroll. i just want to take a moment to salute them. hopefully people can remember how they felt about police officers after 9/11 they thought of them as heroes, not the enemy. i know you do some work with

truckers. >> i also do a lot of work with police agencies. half for many years around the country. from kids like myself all the way up, so many americans see them for who they are. still do today. truckers are, they get left out of the conversation. first responders and nurses and you think about covid, but everything that moves, it does not get to the walmart on the train. whether it though long haulers, three and a half-million long haulers, the 18 wheelers, local haulers, trucks move the entire world. they are doing this right now. they are moving goods and services. there working as team drivers, individuals, cold-weather, getting through storms of all kinds. there as a trucker out there somewhere getting a product, everything you are wearing,

flashback to about two years ago. we had a conversation about quiet putting in people not wanting to show up and stay at work and at home. big acrimonious debates about vaccine mandates and whether people lose their jobs for not getting a shot. there were people in the early days of the pandemic where we knew very little and it was very scary. they had to show up every day and they did. we would not have survived, literally, without them. stocking shelves in grocery stores or driving trucks. there was this whole infrastructure of people that could not just stay home and stay safe in their pajamas. they had to work very hard to keep the country going to the greatest extent possible and keeping us surviving as human beings. i think that that sacrifice in that work at the time got some sort of applause, but it was quickly forgotten and i wanted to remind us of it today on labor day weekend.

masks for next week. newark new jersey, jefferson county kentucky, clayton county georgia and philadelphia. they still have time to change their policy before tuesday. let's see what happens. they are actually requiring kids to wear masks as school starts. philadelphia says just for the first 10 days and then they will make it optional. but still. >> what is the first 10 days going to do? this is just a trial run? >> that all philadelphia factoid here, 62.2% of black parents and philadelphia have moved their kids to charter schools and they are trying to crush that in philadelphia. it's about controlling your kids because black parents are making the decision that my kids will do better or your kids will do better in schools where they have options and there not be masked up and shut down. anita: i think a lot of parents during the pandemic did move their kids from public to private schools.
