blow wrote an op-ed in the "new york times" saying that joe biden, though he is getting very criticized, todd, should not apologize. in fact, he should double down on this. >> todd: this blow guy flipped the script here and basically saying not only should he not nt apologize he should have been harsher in his rhetoric. let's review, one of the key things that blow says in this op-ed and we're going to, i believe, pop it up on the screen for you right now. is this notion that republicans should be shamed because of their vote. the title is biden shouldn't apologize to republicans and the rest of the headline reads as follows. if you guys could stroll, republicans are outraged are or possibly pretending to be outraged there was no scandal here. biden was simply calling a thing a thing. democrats have to keep line calling out the dangers some voters present to the company is somehow a divisive offensive, unfair attack on the innocent. no person, who voted for trump

or supports him now is above being named and shamed. biden doesn't owe republicans an apology. they owe the country an apology. so now democrats like blow or r. advocating public shaming for you exercising your right to vote. >> joey: the currency of the biden people is pretty high right now. maybe inflation hasn't attacked that so bad. i guess they really think they can mid in the midterms over signaling out, drawing a line in the sand and singling out half of americans or even more than half of measures. people who believe make america great or first agenda is greater number of people than those who call themselves trump supporters and i don't think democrats understand that what they do understand they want to defend biden. we have a montage of exactly that. >> he called out mainstream republicans, democrats, independents, to come join him to help protect, to fight to protect our democracy. so, it was about a specific,

particular, extreme, extreme part of the party that has taken over. what i have seen in this speech i see words of encouragement. i see optimism. i see a commander-in-chief who is calling out to all of us, no matter our political affiliation. >> two of the hallmarks of a fascist political party are one they don't accept the results of elections that don't go their way and, two, they embrace political violence. i think that's why president biden was right to sound the alarm. >> there is nothing the president said on thursday that has not been said by leading conservatives and republicans. >> i mean, republicans and the democrats are in large part in agreement. it's the maga movement that is extreme. >> rachel: can you remember at the start of the pandemic when people pointed out that the virus came from a lab in wuhan and called it the wuhan flu or the china flu. democrats went crazy. they said it was xenophobic. they said it was racist. but it's okay to call half of

america, as you said, the vast majority of republicans, i would say 95% of republicans call themselves maga republicans. yet you could call them fascist. what this is about is truly about silencing you. making you feel shame for putting out a trump sign. for wearing a trump hat. for wanting to make america great again. they want a one-party system where the only socially acceptable party to say you are from is theirs. meanwhile, by the way, let's note that they are the party of, you know, child sex changes, of long-term abortions, so many extreme positions, but they want to make it sound like their position is the only acceptable one. i saw representative burgess yet, he was on sunday morning futures. my husband was hosting. i thought he had some of the best remarks on why they are afraid of the maga brand. listen to this. >> they are afraid of the brand, make america great again.

they hate that brand because it works. and so you are going to -- let me tell you what that legally means for those of us who love this country. it means the economy is strong, nations are safe, governors accountability in a future that's free. that's what america wants. we are not afraid of the name calling as long as you call us americans. we love our nation. they are afraid of the maga brand for sure. >> todd: do you know what i thought when i heard that? not only is biden, and i thought that was very astute by burgess getting to this point. not only is biden attacking trump is he preemptively attacking ron desantis all in preparation for 2024. >> they are trying to label anybody. you will hear the argument oh, you know, i like trump policies i just don't like trump. biden is trying to defend against that because they are looking at desantis and other people who might take up that maga mantel and take them down. >> joey: they know trump's base is untouchable. or whoever carries the make

america great again or make america great again agenda forward. they are fighting i like the agenda. i don't like trump. i will vote for someone else. try to galvanize them and put any nasty thing about trump as a part of that brand. i don't think it has a chance of working. >> rachel: it has a much less chance of working when your own policies are resulting in record inflation. in the fact that, you know, right now the leases for energy exploration is the lowest we have ever seen in, you know, 45 years. so this is a brand, america first. that people like. you don't have to be republican to want your country. >> joey: that's exactly right. >> rachel: that's why they are trying to say trump equals the movement. the movement is trump. if you want to put america first you are extremist. >> todd: i think the movement will outlive even trump's political career.

>> todd: desperate search to find a kidnapped billionaire heiress takes a turn as an abductor refuses to talk. >> he wiped away evidence before being taken into custody. >> joey: jackie ibañez joins us with the latest. >> a judge setting that bail at $500,000 for the man suspected of kidnapping memphis mom of two aliza fletcher as authorities seized a dumpster where he may have left evidence. 38-year-old you see him there is the man they saw on surveillance video violently attacking fletcher before forcing her in his car. he was seen cleaning out his suv with floor cleaner and washing his clothes in his brother's inches at his brother's home afterst hours after that attack. that later found outside his home along with a pair of flip-flops with his d.n.a. left at the scene where fletcher was abducted. >> police swarmed his apartment complex saturday taking him into custody. he is now being charged with

tampering with evidence and what's called especially aggravated kidnapping. she set out for morning jog 4:00 friday morning when she was attacked near the university of memphis campus. later that afternoon authorities discovered the surveillance video of that attack. declined to provide investigators with the location of the victim so far. this is not the first time though he has been accused of kidnapping. 22 years would ago he was convicted of aggravated robbery and kidnapping a prominent memphis attorney at that time. fletcher's family this morning is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to her return. back to you. >> todd: jackie ibañez live for us. thank you. with that go over to ashley strohmier with the headlines. >> ashley: starts with a crime crisis in america. a deadly weekend in chicago with 44 shootings leaving 8 people dead. 6 feel are dead in philadelphia and 19 are hurt as violent crime broke out all over the city. this comes as seattle marks its

deadliest month in 14 years for 11 murders reported last month. that is a 267% increase compared to the 14 year average for the month of august. one person is dead and nine others are still unaccounted for after a plane crashed into a seattle bay. officials say the float plane crashed about 30 miles north of seattle yesterday after being in the air for less than 20 minutes. the deceased individual was recovered in the water as crews continue searching for the nine others though are on board. authorities are investigating what caused the plane to go down. 50 more migrants arrived in chicago by bus from texas leaving mayor lower light foot to slam texas governor greg abbott. >> collaborate tia and cooperated. some of us have to guess are they coming or not coming. many them what are their needs. that is insanity that doesn't have to happen. is he manufacturing a human crisis. >> light foot's anger over 50 migrants arriving in her city comes as hundreds walk across

me. i talk about them a lot because i'm so proud of them. i have earned titles with the marine corps but ache brick mason's son was probably the most important title i have had. so i'm just excited to be here today and represent some of those people. >> rachel: absolutely. we actually spoke with -- fox did with some truckers and here's a quote from a long haul trucker named gid dough miller from iowa. he is reflected on his job it was nice being labeled essential worker and hearing the appreciation to truckers across the country. there is a lot of truth to the saying from the food you eat to the roof over your head to the clothes on your back, and the fuel in your tank. if you got it, a truck driver brought it trucking moves america. and boy is that true. we felt it during the pandemic. we are still feeling it because there is a shorter labor shortage in trucking right now. of course we all saw the attention on the canadian truckers who were being

disrespected by justin trudeau and some americans were rooting for the truckers in canada as well. >> joey: talk about an industry that's been incredibly affected by the fuel prices. not only a labor shortage but a lot of these truckers are independent contractors which means the bottom dollar, the fuel price comes out of what they are going to make. when fuel price goes up their overall paycheck goes down right away. so we just thank them for it. >> todd: i think whether you are a trucker or another essential worker. think about how vital those individuals are to literally everything that we do. what we eat, what we wear. what we do on a day in and day out basis. everything we buy. none of that happens unless it's for all those individuals in that chain. that's what this holiday celebrates. and that's what trey gowdy, let us know about on sunday night in america. take a listen. >> it's a holiday most americans relish with cookouts and lakes and pools and family get togethers and maybe even a

people are working subset that just wants to play video games. >> rachel: we have the lowest labor participation rate from 45 years. we have 60% of people working that are able-bodied that means 40% of able-bodied working age americans are not working and part of the reason is that a lot of the handouts that were created during covid have not weaned out and also i think you right to some extent. people have lost that sense of working. if you don't learn to work when you are young in your teens and early 20's, you just never learn to work. that's a problem. we need to get young people out there working. i think about the jobs that my brothers had as teenagers. i was always the baby-sitter but my brothers, you know, mowed lawns, and they had paper routes when people had paper routes. those are the kind of jobs that. >> joey: cleaning cut will pressure on the back of a jeep grand cherokee. i would pressure wash your house and cut your grass.

>> joey: we are back with a fox weather alert. a state of emergency in georgia after severe thunderstorms dumped up to 12 inches of rain in northwestern parts of the state. flash flooding leaving several main roadways under water as residents tried to stop the rain from flooding their homes. officials warning several areas are still facing life-threatening situations. let's check in with senior meteorologist janice dean for a fox weather forecast. good morning, janice. >> janice: good morning, my friends. yeah, unfortunately across the south. including the southeast and georgia. we have more rain in the forecast over the next several days. let's take a look at it over the gulf coast towards the southeast and the mid-atlantic, we have rain in the forecast not only today but tuesday and into wednesday because we have this frontal boundary that has been stationed across this region for several weeks from texas through louisiana, mississippi, alabama, florida, georgia, and so that's going to mean more the potential for heavy rainfall in some of these areas and flooding. northeast, beware. today, your plans could be

hampered with rain and thunderstorms in the forecast, not only today but tuesday and wednesday. so we have, you know, this is much needed rainfall because we have been into a drought here in the northeast. but it is, you know, it's not great if you have plans for monday, tuesday, and wednesday. there is your forecast for the rest of the country. the eastern third of the country, that's where we are really focused on the rain today. the west is dealing with extreme heat where we have heat advisories and alerts from the southwest to california in towards the great basin and that's going to be a big deal. record heat for california. 114 for sacramento. they have not gotten much relief in this area over the last couple of weeks. so, joey, we will continue to monitor it, of course, labor day forecast fox weather.com for your latest details my friend to you. >> joey: thank you, janice. northwest georgia that's my home. i'm praying for those folks and everybody. like my dad said don't complain about the rain. complain about its timing we could spread it out a little bit. >> janice: absolutely. keep it posted.

it's only 6:30 in the morning. all of this despite secretary buttigieg's warning to airlines and new travelers dashboard implemented before the weekend. florida g.o.p. congressman brian mast sits on the house transportation and infrastructure committee. and joins us now. congressman, mayor pete has had a lot of tough talk over the course of the last few months. has anything improved? >> no. i don't think we could say honestly in any circumstance that situations in travel have improved. i think there is a number of places that we can look and say there really is blame to pass around. we he know they can't control the weather but we don't have pushing for next generation radar systems and more official flight patterns. that's something that a lot of people don't see. we know there is major issues with labor. not just with pilots but also with those flight crews on the ground and also with the faa and those that are manning the air traffic control towers and other place and their covid restrictions continue to put a damper on hiring people into the faa. continue to put a damper on

getting pilots into those training slots so they can get the hours that they need so they can get up into the air. and then, of course, there is the very, very sticky. that term that keeps being used for inflation. very sticky inflation we are seeing that is going to force the airlines go out there and up their game in terms of what they're paying so they can attract nor people to get them on those ground crews and the final point i would make on this. we need airlines that is going to schedule in an accountable way. if more the last month the schedule shows them that hey, they are scheduling five routes between a and b but they are only to get two routes off the ground to a to b on time. then they probably need to adjust those schedules or else are held accountable for it if those schedules are not working out and causing people to have to sleep in airports, get hotels, be delayed. schedule new flights, that can't go forward. >> todd: the federal government gave the airline industry billions upon billions of dollars during covid. congressman, where the heck did that money go?

because you would think that these airlines would have said okay, we know we don't have a lot of flights right now. but when this picks up, when people return to the skies, would we are going to want to have these pilots and support staff at the ready to go at a moment's notice. instead they let a lot of them go and now we don't have any workers. where did that money go, congressman? >> let's put a finer point on this. $50 billion to make sure that those crews were maintained on a flight capable status so they could get up in the air. and to say where all those dollars went, how many people were let go? that's not a number that we have at this point. it's something that i'm certainly curious about. how many people did you retain, who did you let go, was that done in the way that those programs were put forward to make sure that people stayed on the payroll not just on the payroll but on a flight capable status?

pete buttigieg hasn't wanted to give us that answer so far. >> if the improvements you suggest do not happen is there any chance this will prove by inertia by the fact that the summer travel season is over and maybe fewer people flying in september and october or is this going to stay bad into september into october november and be beyond? >> >> i don't think that it is likely it just improves because we get more time out? why is that? on the positive side, we are getting more pilots that will get those training hours and get off the ground. those that were grounded previously. that's something on the positive side. on the negative side of it, we are seeing more and more and more travelers. we are getting back to those pre-pandemic levels of travel, labor day is a perfect example of it on labor day, the big point that we need to make shear is labor is the issue. there is not enough labor that goes to inflation in part. the airlines needing to get people trained. getting people their hours. getting people on the ground crews and working with what they have for labor to schedule an

medical schools are screening applicants for their social justice views before they can even walk in the door asking our nation's future doctors to prove they're woke or risk getting rejected. registered nurse and do no harm program manager laura morgan authored the report and she joins us now. laura, i'm so fascinated by this because i have been seeing this. we have been interviewing professors here on "fox & friends" who have been sidelined because they actually said male and female and they were turned in by their students. this is happening at the application level. >> what are the dangers of having an ideological litmus test like this in a medical school? >> well, good morning, rachel. and thank you for having me. and, you're right, this is affecting all areas of medical schools and we're finding that even the top medical schools are asking questions of their applicants to help gawbleg their

acceptance of ideologies like critical race theory, or health equity or anti-racism. and this is bad for medicine because this can increase the amount of distrust between consumers and the healthcare industry. and it certainly diminishes the quality of education when the focus is on things that have nothing to do with medicine. >> rachel: i'm going to put up a list here of top medical schools, woke medical schools. will john hop kidnaps, the university of california san francisco. columbia, you see all those. it's not just these top tier, you know, woke schools of medicine. i want to play -- put up a question here by the university of miami medical school. here's an example of what they have. what have you done to help identify, address, and correct an issue of systemic discrimination. what happens when this is part of the application process?

schools ideas and health equity efforts or a commitment to antiracism or other woke policies and they want to know how the applicant will contribute to those ideas. so, this sets the stage for an early indoctrination before medical students ever see a patient. and the goal is to weed out those that don't agree with divisive ideologies. >> rachel: yeah. one of the things we love about doctors, sometimes it was frustrating to me during covid is how apolitical they were. i wish they would have weighed in a little more on some of the politicization of covid. it's because they love medicine. they don't want to get involved in politics. they just want to do their job. now we are going to be recruiting a whole new generation that does this. another thing, laura, is that some of the standards were already being dropped because there was an obsession already in medical schools with the diversified. which was lowering standards. >> that's correct.

and in the secondary interview questions, that are in the report. so schools are pretty blunt about it because they assume that the students already buy into these concepts. and so, some will even ask directly what group do you identify with? and how will your experiences as a member of this group contribute to the dei's standard dni standardat our school. those don't have anything to do with taking care of your medical problem. >> rachel: what is your group and what can america do to make sure that our medical profession doesn't get infected by wokeness and keep it based on science and good health outcomes? >> absolutely. do no harm is a network. of key stakeholders who want to protect medicine from these divisive ideologies that have been telling them how the system is structurally racist. must be transformed. and so, do no harm is here to

to other workers out there? >> we honor the working men and women just having a job and supporting yourself and moving this country along with very important. we honor them. i kind of know what they went through because when i was a state legislator meeting every other year and starting a small farming operation. i moon lighted on a assembly line in cedar falls, iowa. punching screw holes in furnace registers for 10 years when the legislature wasn't in session. i was a union member. i think i have some understanding of the people that produce and work hard to keep this country going. they are all taxpayers. we honor them. i honor them. they are the backbone of our society. and they deserve much more than what one labor day gives them.

is it leftover covid money, handouts? >> well, good morning, rachel, happy labor day. for joe biden to be touting this economy would be like john f. kennedy touting the bay of pigs. this economy has been a disaster under biden. when biden came in, we had the booming economy coming out of covid under trump. and look at the situation today, rachel, where the average middle income family, you know, working class people have lost about $4,000 in income because inflation is so high. so the real take-home pay is shrinking month after month. we saw that again on friday's report, rachel, that showed the same trend, 8 percent inflation, right, and 5% wage gains. it's easy to do that math. it means people month after month are losing 3% of their paycheck. so that's why i think americans are so, you know, feeling down about the condition of this

after the attack. the suspect's vehicle seen here in surveillance video around the time of the attack was later found outside of his home along with a pair of flip-flops with his dna left at the scene where fletcher was abductor to peer at the police swarmed his apartment complex saturday taking him into custody. he has now been charged with tampering with evidence and what is called especially aggravated kidnapping. fletcher set out for morning jog 4:00 friday morning when she was attacked near the university of memphis campus. later that afternoon, authorities discovered the surveillance of her attack. and declined to provide investigators with the location of the victim. this is not the first time he has been accused of kidnapping. 22 years ago he was convicted of aggravated robbery and kidnapping for attacking a prominent memphis attorney. fletcher's family is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to her return, back to you guys.
