breaking news. >> hi, jackie, hi, everyone. coming from south florida judge eileen cannon federal judge signed this order today a little bit surprising on labor day, federal holiday but did grant a special master which means a third-party neutral arbiter will now come in and look at those documents taken from mar-a-lago by the federal government by the fbi on august 8th, look at the documents and see if any of those documents need to be returned that may be outside of the scope of the investigation paid in plain english this means potentially a retired judge or an attorney not connected to this case will come in, they may have to get security clearance giving the nature, this will slow down the investigation. at this will slow down doj's investigation. we are waiting for some kind of comment from the department of justice, hope they did not believe a special master was in order. they believed they had their own neutral third-party filter team already looked through the documents to make sure there was

a neutral perspective on behalf of the justice department, but former president donald trump's team said we don't want someone connected to the justice department in any way, shape, or form. we want a neutral third party arbiter to come in, judge eileen cannon agreed with this so if essentially this means by friday she issued this order before september 9th on friday both teams must come up with a list of special master candidates. so again, in plain english, this slows down the investigation, the say victory for former president trump's legal team carried it doesn't mean the investigation is over but certainly it stops the doj in its tracks because also, jackie, it mentions that both parties including the department of justice should stop looking and using evidence as part of its investigation while at the same time allowing director of national intelligence avril haines complete her review. she is doing a separate review looking at possibly labeling the

classification of all of these documents. that will continue, but the actual doj investigation right now is halted. >> jackie: this slows down the doj investigation i understand that, but on the other side how long does a process like this take for special master to be appointed for that person to go through the documents, for the notifications to be made and if there were documents that were taken under attorney-client privilege for them to be returned to the former president? >> yeah, i hate to say this but there is no telling because we are in uncharted waters here dealing with a former president's home being searched by the fbi. this is brand-new territory, judge kennedy issued this order. we have seen that mike special masters before but the snow question is brand-new territory, unlike a special prosecutor's office where there is a lot of staff involved and can help go through investigative materials, this special master is one

as well, right? if she is saying this is using illegal migrants as pawns in abbott is doing that by sending them out to the sanctuary cities and they don't want to take them and i think what they are essentially trying to do is say they recognize how much it costs to bring people into their cities and house them. to give them food, to give them health care, to educate them, for as long as they stay there and it is a huge investment they have to make and these are mayors that have done very poor jobs running their cities, their taxpayers have all left and there are a lot of really with budgets that are suffering right now. it so i think what lightfoot is trying to say without actually saying it because it would erupt in an explosion is we will take them but you have to give us federal funding to be able to do this, right? that would definitely make it a little bit easier and better for these blue cities so instead they are shifting the blame on abbott and they are saying he is manufacturing the crisis. i would say they are using it as a chess piece to say give us more money so we can actually be able to house the people here. the second thing about kamala harris is she quietly acquit the border.
