pandemic era lockdowns and he had carriage progress of the nation's school children. in that piece weingarten was accused of pushing shutdowns as long as she possibly could before parents revolted and ultimately weingarten according to the "wall street journal" tried to forget it ever happened. in response she said this on sunday, as a union leader in the public eye, i'm used to enduring attacks from your editorial page, while former president donald trump and his education secretary ms. devos ranted and raved, their successor is put the safety measures in place to get reopening done. now, that piece in the journal blamed covid-19 pandemic school closures for the unprecedented decline in reading and math scores among young students across the country. this as a research assistant as the california teacher's association looked to dig up dirt on parents who were calling for the reopening of schools

during the pandemic. and swing burn was suspicious that parents were used larger goal to disrupt, destabilize and burn down public schools. she actually emailed a parent group in san diego back in april of 2021 to try to, quote: understand the motivations of those demanding a return to in person learning. and speaking of returning to in person learning, striking teachers in seattle are demanding higher pay, smaller drample sizes and additional covid-19 measures. now, critics say that is just one of many reasons more and more parents are opting out of public schools. instead, they are choosing private, parochial and in many cases they are choosing homeschooling alternatives. that's a very big story, guys, back to you. >> steve: it is indeed. kevin, thank you very much. ironic those striking teachers want more covid stuff. it's the covid restrictions that initially during the trump administration sidelined so many

these people in newark, new jersey. >> they seem to be the only school district in new jersey because the governor almost lost because he locked that state down. he lost for almost -- murphy almost lost for a lot of reasons but he locked that state down and very barbaric way. so now he says listen, you guys decide if you want to wear masks. you guys decide about the vaccines and quarantine. and guess what? in newark, new jersey, most the minority kids, 38,000 they said wear masks. think about the how slow alleged am strung these kids are if they have to wear masks for third year or second year now. they can't see kids' faces. they can't enunciate. i was talking to a grammar school teacher over the weekend. and they said that they couldn't believe when the masks came off that they started at the end of last year how many kids needed speech work to the point where the specialty classes were so crowded the kids weren't even getting special attention built

exexempted and texas susceptible. then he watches all the attention go to the mayor of chicago when she starts saying horrific things about the governor of texas. >> so to his credit, new york city mayor adams has sent a delegation down for himself to see what's happening at the border. i think he missed a great opportunity to go with abbott. see for himself. >> ainsley: abbott was unresponsive. abbott asked him to come down in the very beginning. >> steve: they did. one of the reasons. there you can see the delegation from new york city in eagle pass. and in addition to looking at that now eninfamous scene under that bridge where our live reporters are. they also toured a temporary processing facility packed with 1,000 people. now, keep in mind. 1,000 people, some of them will be heading for new york city. and one of the reasons he sent the fact-finding mission down there was because we have heard that the conditions are inhuman on the buses. and we just want to make sure that people are not being

tricked. so, anyway, the mayor's office sent this statement out that said the texas governor's office has been unresponsive and has turned this matter into a political side show. we have sent members down of the team down on fact finding mission to hear directly from folks on the ground along the southern border and get real answers we are not getting from texas. including whether they are seeking asylum seekers to send new york city even if they prefer to go elsewhere. if you need to find the facts you, here are the facts. the joe biden administration letting people. in texas is going we can't take care of all of them so we are going to have to ship some people out. any further questions? it's that simple. >> ainsley: governor abbott, his press secretary responded saying governor abbott's invitation is still open for mayor adams to come visit our southern border and see firsthand the devastating impacts of the biden-made crisis on border towns, smaller than nyc burrow. instead of sending his staffers on a secret trip to texas. >> brian: if you don't stop -- if you don't vote against this.

that those teams aren't going to win that those quarterbacks aren't going to win before i rule them out. as long as aaron rodgers is in there and healthy i feel like the packers are going to win. >> brian: think about last year. off season. vaccine controversy and still were tremendous. take a look at the lineup on the whole as i look at the 1:00 games. two teams that intrigue me arguably the eagles add to the the roster ready to win now and jaguars might be the most improved. do you concur with that. >> i don't disagree with that i think the eagles have a legitimate chance to be considered the favorites in the nfc east. they made the moves to try to get into that position. and i think they are in a really good spot and look the jaguars are likely not going to win the division. got to deal with the vikings and colts in the south. jags have made a lot of moves starting at head coach position to try to make things easier on young quarterback trevor
