it's a painful way to do it and to start it but he has done it in states because he does not want us to forget that they ever no matter when you are born, keep it in mind, keep it in your heart and keep all of those who are affected by it in your prayers. good day. ♪ >> the united kingdom has a new monarch king charles iii was proclaimed the head of state in a constitutional ceremony earlier today. the we are getting a lot of luck of windsor patacsil on the left in the uk embassy in washington on the right as we await details of her majesty queen elizabeth the second's funeral plans. welcome to fox news live i'm griff jenkins. >> hi there i am aishah hasnie, we have fox team coverage as
9:01 am
united kingdom enters the second day now good morning for queen elizabeth, alexis mcadams is live in new york city with the funeral plans but we start with brian and brett cal paek in london where hundreds are leaving flowers, cards to pay tribute to the late queen. >> i would say more than hundreds, thousands and thousands are coming here streaming to buckingham palace to pay their respects to the late queen elizabeth the second and maybe offer a little support for the new king king charles iii. he is inside as we speak already conducting meetings. even though immediately upon the passing of the queen it was made official today by the so-called accession council. the president by his side, the queen camilla queen consort by his side. the prince's wales 300 years this is how it's been done in yoking tail, once the ceremony was over the trumpets heralded
9:02 am
the news to the gather outside of st. james palace where we are now, in the proclamation of the new king was read in full. at various locations across the uk including the tower of london cannons blasted away to make sure all got the news. in his speech charles thought back to his mother, here is a bit of what he had to say. >> i am deeply aware of this great inheritance and the duties and heavy responsibilities of sovereignty which have now passed to me. >> the focus early is all the late queen and her remains in scotland will be removed tomorrow for ceremonies there brought down to buckingham palace and onwards for a full week's worth of remembrance, needing with the massive state funeral. a lot of time for the folks to remember and a lot of time to support the new king.
9:03 am
aishah: i want to ask you, sitting here in america it is so hard to understand the complicated emotions. on one hand you are mourning and grieving the incredible figure. on the other hand you have to get ready to celebrate a nation that is coming up bringing in a new king. what is the mood right now of the bricks over there? >> absolutely mixed. a deep deep sorrow, the queen was loved among royal followers and royal supporters and royal critics. there is also the feeling that not only king charles the third has to be supported in the time of grief but at the time of starting his job. his coordination will be for months and months. we don't have to worry about that right now, he's already on the job and he is already doing things as the queen is remembered. >> the whole world is watching, thank you for being there for us, by the outside of buckingham palace.
9:04 am
>> as the world mourns the death, preparation for the final farewell to the nation are underway. alexis mcadams has more on what we know so far about the monarch's funeral. >> there are a lot of steps, crowds gathering to pay their respects, we are learning more about what will happen before the queen is officially laid to rest. this comes as the longest reigning british history has come to a close. in the coming days the coffin will leave the state where she passed away peacefully spotted her last moments there surrounded by her family. buckingham palace says it will be observed until one week after the funeral. from the scottish counsel though queens coffin will make its way to the palace of edinburg, that is the official residence of the british monarch in scotland. she will be taken in a large procession at the saint giles cathedral. there will be a public viewing of her coffin and a lot of people are expected to show up.
9:05 am
she w will be taken to london ad westminster hall and her casket will be on raised platforms which is happened in the past, that hall is the oldest part of the palace, then her funeral will begin, it'll travel from westminster hall to westminster abbey traveling through polyp menswear, massive crowds are expected to mourn this loss as heads of state and dignitaries from across the world are expected to show up to pay their respects, the funeral is expected to be within the next two weeks but so much more preparation needs to be done is 70 people are expected to show up to. the coffin will be lowered into st. chapel, it is not confirmed the day of the funeral, planning is underway. griff: we can now report second to go confirming that that date will be monday the 19th and she will lie in state for four days and westminster prior to
9:06 am
the 19th will be the funeral and it is a very interesting development. alexis mcadams in new york, thank you very much. aishah: it is pretty incredible, we sit here and we watch the circumstance and everything that they are getting ready for, somebody steps as alexis mentioned. what are the greatest reasons why americans think so highly of the queen is very simple, she came from this war generation, world war ii a very simple person when you put her into the context of everything. she always put country first. i think americans really connect with that because country in liberty and patriotism is so important to us. she embodied that and let her country through so many ups and downs and even right now the country is in a bit of a crisis,
9:07 am
they have skyhigh inflation, worse than us. and they are really, really going through a lot of problems. she was always standing there firm to get them through those tough periods and i think it was really her personality i have to say that allowed the monarchy to survive into the modern era which was quite a feat when other monarchies were falling apart she was able to bring that into the modern era. i think now people are wondering how king charles iii is going to be able to do that as well. griff: you raised an important point, her popularity, undeniably exceeded her institution. we look back at that video in cape town when she was 21 pledging her allegiance to stand for her country in the role she would take on and be true to her duty but she did it for seven decades. that's why we may look back and
9:08 am
see a few historical figures in our lifetime are as revered worldwide and that is why the tributes poured in from world leaders, from the pope and everyone touched by the connection that they felt to her because of her popularity and now maybe we will see the king charles wants to continue to build upon that by creating a specific connection in the moment on the cover of all the newspapers now, the washington post and new york times as charles get it out of buckingham palace and engaging directly with people shaking hands. aishah: i think that was a big win that was very important for him, i was with scott the other day watching this and he has really big boots to fill, that's an understatement because of the connection the queen had and going back to her personality. something that king charles iii will have a tough time with is
9:09 am
his image. i think over the years he has come across as stuffy and he will have to ensure that he is able to connect with the british folks and try to bring the martin key going as well. we want to bring in now for the life and legacy of queen elizabeth the second as well as the future of the british monarchy, royal expert and world corresponded thank you for joining us on the commonwealth of mourns. it's a common figure. something that griff and i were speaking about, the one thing that we as americans really connected with this queen was because of her patriotism and because she always put country first, can you talk a little bit about her personality and how
9:10 am
that was what brought the monarchy into the modern era and really saved it. >> absolutely, it's a very sad time in britain at the moment. the queen was a person who showed politicians the world over. in the past to go down in terms of leadership for sacrifice. she is a woman who sacrificed huge parts of her life like the normal stuff that people don't even notice being able to walk the holiday inn walk into a shop and do what you like. she never had, at the age of ten she got the bombshell that her uncle was navigating the throne and she thought she was going to be a princess her whole life, she was now in fact going to be queen and what charmed her was dominated by the second world war and she only had a few years of a normal life and she married prince philip and had charles
9:11 am
and princess before her father then died in 1952. that is when she became queen. from that moment even gone at 96 she passed her 15th prime minister to follow new government. it is difficult to convey how much sacrifice there is within the ordinary life of royalty because they lived within these grand and huge and fantastic also they are close spaces and they cannot access the ordinary world that we are living in. aishah: i guess my question, king charles is a completely different personality than his mother and he had a bit of a tough time with his image coming across stuffy, he's a bit of an activist, very different from his mother. how does he ensure that the monarchy survives and i keep
9:12 am
hearing how he is going to reform the monarchy and slam it down, what you know about that. >> first of all i think on the point of what he does he needs to try to capture some of the queen's instinct for how you convey a message symbolically, people have been told to thank and told what to believe, but what the queen was good at doing is showing people and conveying the message of what example and how she did that in the funeral of her husband prince philip sat alone because of covid rules at the time. another person might've asked for the rules to be banned. i'm sure the government would've struggled to say no. but she wanted to make sure the public can see that she was going to suffer and sacrifice the same way as everybody else had to as well. i think charles will have a honeymoon period in which people will not want to criticize him out of their collective mourning
9:13 am
for the queen. a big test for him will come when he confronts his first crisis. there are always crises around the world happening. when he gets his first one that is when we will really see if he has the decision-making to get through it and like you say there have been times when you can be self-indulgent in his decision-making and it's gotten him into trouble before. but he has said in his first address to the nation that some of his old ways are behind him now. aishah: energy crisis in the uk might be his first big one. we will watch and see how he reacts to that. jack royston thank you for being here and giving us your insight. thank you. griff: president biden confirming he will attend the queen's funeral which we know will be monday the 19th. biden stepping up, his campaigning at the same time for the midterms here at home. lucas thomaston live from the white house for the latest. >> president biden following
9:14 am
protocol waiting for the official announcement in the official invitation coming from buckingham palace, not clear if that arrived at the white house. before that president biden before leaving ohio says he will attend the service and funeral at westminster abbey. >> are you going to the queen's funeral? >> yes i don't know the details yet but i will be going. >> have you spoken to the king? >> no i have not spoken to him. i did not call him yet thank you. >> the president was in ohio columbus for the new tell computer chip factory after skipping a previous trip he made to ohio tim ryan was on him. a democrat running for the seat about when republicans senator rob portman donald trump won in 2016 and 2020, ryan said the oldest president history should consider retiring. yesterday ryan says it's up to biden whether or not he should run in 2024.
9:15 am
ryan told our old colleague jacqui heinrich is no partisan. >> we are all adults i agree with the president on the chips bill that landed the intel plan here that will be $100 billion and tens of thousands of jobs, really good paying jobs in ohio but if i have a disagreement on title 42, five a disagreement on china, trade or terrorists i speak my mind. >> critics say otherwise that tim ryan has voted with his fellow democrats, president biden and house speaker nancy pelosi 100% of the time included $1.9n so-called american rescue plan which many people think led to the inflation crisis. >> lucas thomaston live at the white house. thank you. aishah: don't forget tomorrow we are so excited the first show as a permanent anchor of "fox news sunday", she has exclusive interviews, republican south carolina senator tim scott and senate veterans affair chairman
9:16 am
democrat from montana jon tester, she also has an interview with the united states ambassador to the united kingdom jane hartley, check the local listings for the time in the channel for "fox news sunday". add "mediabuzz" and how we coach will interview former chief of staff for mike pence, that is tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. eastern. griff: we don't want to miss that, arizona's attorney general to talk about the border crisis and blessing the record numbers of migrants to deep blue cities far inside of the u.s. we will go live to eagle pass texas where the illusion is next.of p ♪ who tried me felt more energy in just two weeks. uhh... here, i'll take that! yay!!! ensure max protein, with 30 grams of protein, 1 gram of sugar enter powered by protein challenge for a chance to win big! 9:20 am
griff: lie that images from the southern border. the border patrol airboat sitting in eagle pass texas, we have team coverage with alex half tracking the migrants arriving by bus loads to big cities, but start with bill melugin who is back in eagle pass. >> the record number continue,
9:21 am
the del rio which concludes eagle pass 1500 - 2000 illegal crossings every single day, there will be a lot more buses heading to the sink to a cities. case in point the video we shot like clockwork, as soon as the sun comes up we get the large groups crossing, 200 who crossed over at the same time predominantly, single adults from venezuela, cuba and nicaragua as usual, not subject to title 42 meeting most of the people that you look at here will eventually be released into the united states and a bigger group yesterday. take a look at this video this was in normandy a little town outside of eagle pass, a bigger group of 400 migrants. again predominantly single adults from venezuela, cuba and nicaragua, the del rio sector has more than 400,000 illegal crossings since october, that is putting a serious strain on border patrol resources, so are the number of rescues, take a look at the third piece of video
9:22 am
dramatic river rescue in eagle pass, border patrol and the del rio sector arrested five migrants in the water, after days of rain, you will remember a couple of weeks ago 13 migrants drowned all that once in the river in eagle pass after a series of storms, the deadliest mass drowning in years at the border but this is the thing the agents are having to do day in and day out especially after the summer storms, lastly we want to show you the ongoing that entrance that no crisis. making a major fentanyl. they found 52000 fentanyl pills being hidden in the car's dashboard. thankfully the cbp agents were able to stop it. back at hereby border patrol reported their own major bust in eagle pass they arrested a predator from mexico. a child pre sex predator he hadd
9:23 am
acts with a child in the state of south carolina. he was deported from the u.s. four months ago in may, he evidently try coming back across the speak. thankfully hard-working border agents able to arrest him as he crossed it. we will send it back to you. griff: an important point not everyone coming across the border has good intentions. bill melugin, live in eagle pass. aishah: texas bussing more migrants to democrat run cities, now chicago mayor lori lightfoot facing backlash for funneling the migrants out of her sanctuary city and into the suburbs. alexandria hoff joins us now without part of the story. >> a lot of irony, the mayor of burbage illinois said he was not given any notice that 60 migrants would be sent to his town they were dropped off at a hotel and they will stay for 30 days. mayor gary called out lori lightfoot for hypocrisy adding
9:24 am
there must be vacant hotel rooms in chicago. this is hundreds of people in the city of millions, why are they sending them to the republican suburbs. mayor lightfoot said part of her issue with texas governor greg abbott sending migrants to sanctuary cities like hers is that city officials are not briefed on their backgrounds. >> he is treating these human beings like freight and like we don't need to know exactly what is what so we can make sure that we have proper accommodations for them. all of this is about a manufactured political crisis. >> border state lawmakers say the crisis is clearly very real. since last week 300 migrants have arrived in chicago. >> we give them a touch of what texas and arizona have to deal with every day. it's really just a touch it's nothing like what we really have to deal with. >> about 5000 a day in the border communities.
9:25 am
to her buses arrived in new york city they appeared to be sent from el paso rather than the governor's office. more than 2200 migrants have arrived in new york and 8000 in d.c. where muriel bowser was asked if president biden was partially to blame. >> is he partly to blame here? >> is the federal government? yes. the president, the white house and anybody else who was involved in the national guard, not being granted for the district's humanitarian res response, yes. >> democratic mayor at that. mayor bowser requested federal relief to deal with the migrants being sent from texas and she was denied twice on that. aishah: alex hoss, thank you so much. griff: we are joined for republican congresswoman from iowa and member of the education committee mariannette miller-meeks, she sits on the house homeland security and
9:26 am
veteran affairs committees. thank you for taking time, we know you have a big iowa football game i want to talk to about at the very end of this. there is so much to unpack. let's start with the border you heard alexandria and bill reporting from. i want to talk about alex is talking about why the administration has an undeniable border crisis, you now have the blue big-city democrats blaming the border governors but also, the president as well for the chaos playing out. what do you make of it? >> this is a crisis made by the by dinner administration, we had the border under control prior to his inauguration, immediately coming in. he opened the border up, we don't have operational control of our border. it is one thing to say you're a sanctuary city when you are not the one that is being set by this avalanche of people coming
9:27 am
across the board. over 2 million people illegally crossing our southern border in the federal fiscal year and this year is not over yet. this is a crisis that they made worse than that, the fentanyl that comes across record numbers of overdoses overpopulation and that is fentanyl in synthetic fentanyl coming across the border. border patrol agents are inundated, overwhelmed, the morale is low because they cannot monitor the border, they cannot interdict people, you have drugs, you people on the terror watch list and millions of people coming across the border. you spoke earlier about the 13 who died in the flooding trying to cross the river. i would think if you would look, more people died coming across the board or illegally under this administration that the past administration. this is inhumane what they are doing. aishah: congresswoman i hate to do this, we are quickly going to break away for a second. griff: a quick break. hang tight. you are looking live at the new
9:28 am
prince and princess of wales greeting the folks turning out there outside of buckingham. i'm sorry windsor castle. they are now going to have a much larger role there and we got earlier today, the stat statement. we are just covering this, we apologize breaking into that important interview with marianne miller meeks, this is history playing out. when prince william, the prince's wales put his statement out about his grand mother the first official statement for the prince's wales very touching, he said his grandfather often said that grief is the price that we pay for love. aishah: have the statement pulled up all read it. it is beautiful how he puts it. he said my grandmother famously
9:29 am
said that greece was the price that we pay for love. all of the sadness we will feel in the coming weeks will be testament to the love that we felt for our extraordinary queen. i go back to greg palkot i was talking about how this nation is dealing with complicated emotions, they are grieving on one hand. you see that the royal family e see pictures of them driving their cars back and forth from church wearing black, looking very somber. griff: look at this. aishah: the first time we see harry and meghan and also doing the roundabout meet and greet with folks that have come out to pay their respects. i believe this is the first time we have seen her in quite a while here on british soil. meeting with folks and also sharing a few words of affection
9:30 am
as people come out and let them know that they are here grieving with them. by the way, something very interesting that i took away from king charles iii speech, i have to remember to say it's not prince charles. it's king charles. yesterday he briefly made a remark about harry and meghan but it was one line and he did not include titles, he called them harry and meghan and said he wishes them the best as they continue to build their life overseas. i thought that was really interesting that most of his speech was about the family that will continue to serve, talking about william and kate and they are the new prince and princess of wales. a big title change, and one remark, a quick remark about harry and meghan. >> i think that it is clearly a great interest that people are wondering about harry and meghan, you pointed out
9:31 am
mentioned in the king speech. i think also it is worth noting that the house of windsor does planning on like anybody else on the planet. the ten days of remembrances, the elaborate funeral. it's all laid out meticulously and you have to believe in some respects that keeping harry and meghan in the background initially was by design to not overshadow what is happening. it'll be interesting to see if we get a statement in the next hours or days from harry about his grandmother. william statement that you read is so eloquent and touching and so beautiful. harry had quite a relationship with his grandmother and played an instrumental role in allowing him to chart his path that he is not taken. aishah: this is a remarkable moment, i cannot remember the last time these two couples were
9:32 am
together doing a public event. it is been quite a while since everybody was calling the exit since harry and megan left the u.s. and establish their lives in california. this is truly an incredible moment that we are watching and what's happening behind closed doors because we've been watching the reports that they are seem to be some love lost between these members, we don't know what the relationship is like between the two brothers. i was watching a royal reporter talking about how things were getting better and then in the last two weeks fell apart again because of comments that megan made an interview and apparently were not perceived well by buckingham palace.
9:33 am
but i think this moment of morning a family member will perhaps give this family an opportunity to make amends. we shall see but this is the first time the two couples have been out seen publicly together. they are on opposite sides doing their jobs. we have not seen them speak to one another yet. we will have to continue to watch in the coming days. a reminder we did just learn and the last hour that the funeral arrangements have been set for the queen and her funeral will take place on monday september 19 at 11:00 a.m. british time, uk time. she will lie in state before the funeral at westminster for about four days. griff: i think you may have put your finger on what many of our viewers are watching right now, whether or not we will see the
9:34 am
four of them standing together at this historic moment. it's worth noting while we are watching william and kate doing the official duties of their role which is to be out there shaking hands. harry and meghan do not have an official role anymore doing this sort of thing yet they are because extraordinary circumstances of the queen's death. whether or not there could be some reconciliation beyond just the obvious and tragic broken friendship and we should point out a lot of criticism directed towards meghan but would there be some reconciliation of harry doing some sort of role now that their father is the king? >> they are only standing a few feet apart but doesn't feel like their world apart right now?
9:35 am
i think everyone watching in the crowd would love to see the two couples mix a little bit and talk with each other. maybe smile at each other, we may have missed that perhaps they did that when they first came out we were able to watch the live watching it together right now. perhaps we will see that at the tail end when they wrap this roundabout up and maybe we will see them walk together again as we did the first christmas when they were walking in together. the fab four and have not seen them together for quite a while. i want to go back to the statement from the prince, the new prince and the princess of wales. it is going to take a few days to get used to the new titles but i want to read another part of the statement from the prince's wales prince william and his first statement about the queen he said on thursday
9:36 am
the world lost an extraordinary leader whose commitment to the country, the realms and the commonwealth was absolute. so much will be set in the days ahead about the meaning of her historic rain. i however, have lost a grandmother and i will grieve her loss, i also feel incredibly grateful i had the benefit of the queen's wisdom and reassurance into my fifth decade. we have to remember that. former prince charles, now king charles iii has had his entire life to prepare for this moment and had the council of wisdom of his mother for so many years. nobody is better prepared for this role. i would say the same about prince william, he has been able to spend quite a bit of time, his entire life learning about the role that he will one day take. it is hard to think about, one day he will be the one taking on
9:37 am
that crown and taking on the role and grieving at the same time and also preparing for his coronation. griff: it's a remarkable moment of history, were looking outside of windsor castle, you can see our viewers are joining us that is william and kate greeting the crowd but not far away harry and meghan at buckingham palace down there on the bottom of the smaller screen and i looked back at the ap shots that came to us as reporters and it appears in the shots that i see the four of them walked out together out of windsor castle to greet this crowd and that would certainly suggest that they are intentionally doing this as a unified front. that is something we have not seen in quite some time. it's worth pointing out we are a few days past the queen's death and this is a ten day morning. to see this unified front of
9:38 am
certainly suggest we will see more of them coming together. i can tell you i'm not one of the people that follow the royals closely i did go to william and kate's wedding and covered that as a reporter for fox and i went to windsor castle and did reporting it in the line of the path and a lot of airplanes pass over there. it's quite a noisy place. this is certainly a moment of perhaps inspiration for many of the british people because they did not like to see these brothers who have gone through so much, certainly we observe them as young children and the grief of losing their mother. such a historical moment. more better to give us insight and context, greg palkot live outside of buckingham palace. this is quite a moment we are watching.
9:39 am
>> it is quite a moment indeed. we are watching it just like you are, amazed. the most amazing shot when they were walking down along walk that leads up to windsor castle, it's what we remember from various funerals and other events. we sell william and kate we saw harry and meghan, the four of them dressed in black, walking down together. it is said that tragedy can bring folks together and it looks like it's done that today. as you been recounting and as we've been watching right now we see william and kate talking to the crowds being very, very friendly. remember william is the prince's wales, he is the new title and he has a new role he is first in line to the throne right after his father king charles iii, he is a big responsibility on his shoulders. kate as well, their three kids are out there, they moved to get
9:40 am
away from the hustle and bustle of kensington garden palace, where they were. i think it'll really because the eyebrows to raise being together with harry and meghan. i am sure their grandmother would've liked to of seen. aishah: i would think so too. watching the walkabouts that they are doing starting with king charles iii who also went about and shook hands outside of buckingham palace. you have to think the members of the royal family have to be very cognizant of the fact this is a vulnerable moment because some out there would've liked for this monarchy to have ended with the queen. they really have to put on a united front to ensure that the monarchy continues and that they prove to people out there that they are still connecting with
9:41 am
the average common person in the uk. >> absolutely, probably the person who really brought the monarchy pulled close to the people was the mother of harry and william. the late princess diana. she brought the common touch in the warmth and connection between the sometimes stuffy royal household in the public. that was in the 80s and the '90s and they are carrying it on. we saw outside of buckingham palace, yesterday king charles iii working the crowd like an american politician. he was out there, i was counting eight or nine minutes shaking hands in looking at the floral arrangements. you can see his son william right now is doing exactly the same thing. griff: greg, i'm so struck that the two brothers, the feud
9:42 am
between them is a real feud. i think the question now and certainly in the british press i've heard them described as the roaring brothers. are they simply setting aside their differences at this moment or is this perhaps an opportunity for real reconciliation? >> i have no inside information but i've got to believe they are setting aside their feelings at this moment for sure, certainly for the next ten days. remember harry happen to be in a town in the uk along with meghan for some events per he flown to germany involving his charity, he was back in london when he got the word, witmer patacsil next to windsor castle where he was staying. he tried to make it up to see the queen before she passed. but he missed that. and a lot of other people did
9:43 am
too. it was only prince charles at that time and princess anne who saw her in her last moments. he will remain here with meghan and will be here through what we now know the funeral which will be a week from monday. aishah: great, let's admit it, these are members of the royal family, sure, but they are also rock stars. they are stars in their own right. i think this moment that we are watching is going to give a lot of folks out there certainly royal reporters a lot to talk about but also people who love the royal family they are probably loving watching this moment, the two brothers and their wives serving their country together, doing their duty connecting with the british people in a really, really awful moment of sorrow, deep personal
9:44 am
pain in their family. when we are watching this, how critical is it for this family to really be united in this moment right now? >> it's very important i came in here by the two, that's what they call the subway the underground. i was sitting next to a mother with her two children, they had a bouquet flowers. on the bouquet of flowers on the wrapping two cards one written by a 10-year-old boy and the other drawn by the 6-year-old girl they were coming in to bring their flowers and pay their respects. people of all ages from four or five or six years old all the way to as old as you can go. they are out here and buckingham palace paying their respects and offering their warmth. as we see it windsor castle, they are doing exactly the same thing this is the time when the country comes together and
9:45 am
certainly the day of the funeral which has also been declared a bank holiday here, that is a day off for everybody. that will be the focus but that is nine days away, there will be a lot of time to remember queen elizabeth the second and look ahead to the next rain. griff: we were talking about getting back to harry and meghan, obviously quite notable for the world watching the kings eloquent speech, a shout out for his love for harry and meghan. they of course do not have elevated titles, do we know if they will have any role whatsoever in terms of duties or what we can expect them to do in the future? >> that is not been specified for the immediate future and for the state funeral they will be present and prince harry still has an array of formal functions
9:46 am
even though there has been a great separation for doing it himself and the royal family. he will be there. meghan will be present as well there have been some reports that it was asked that meghan did not accompany prince harry up to scotland to raise attention to her added time when the queen was in her last hours but we don't know that for a fact. they will continue to do what they do but we will see what happens after this period good f mourning and see a greater coming together. we covered the two of them together when they were here last year to honor their mother, statue outside of kensington palace. we are hoping for a big coming together that time. we covered them when they were here for the funeral of prince philip, the late husband of the late queen last year. we were hoping for a coming

together then, that didn't happen but maybe it takes mom or in the case as william described maybe it takes granny to get them together. griff: our camera is close to william let's listen in for a moment and see if we can hear anything. [inaudible conversations] >> we have not seen the camera panned back to meghan and harry. i am wondering if those two are on the other side. if you are just joining us were getting live pictures and from windsor england this is outside of windsor castle. a lot of people have come out to
9:48 am
pay their respects and they have gone quite a treat and we are just watching harry and meghan and william and kate came out together and now grieving. people shaking hands and chatting with them accepting flowers and gifts and cards. we saw harry and meghan on the right-hand side they were working that part of the crowd while william and kate work this part of the crowd. we have not seen for a couple of minutes so we are not sure if they are still there. were not sure if this is the first public seeing of them together. the two couples in months, maybe even a few years. the last time i think is christmas in sandringham and also the spot coming down the
9:49 am
walk called the fab four. maybe one more time after that but it's been quite a while and we've had a lot of ups and downs since then we had the oprah interview of the famous oprah interview where meghan brought up a story where she thought somebody in the family had made racist comments about her, her son archie, that obviously was not received well by buckingham palace. and then more comments afterwards and other interviews including two weeks ago. we really were left wondering where the brothers were at where his family was at and now you are watching them, we were watching them a few moments ago putting on a united front wondering if the camera is not panning over to the right because perhaps harry and meghan have left. according to greg palkot. i want to ask you use all the two couples coming together, were they chatting? how were they positioned?
9:50 am
were the two brothers walking together were the wives on the outside? we want to know the details of how they presented themselves as they came out. >> it's a classic image and we will try to get that up for you. a very long walk that's what it's called from windsor castle out to the peripheral areas in windsor that's where we done reporting and live shots in various events there. we saw the four of them walking together. obviously all in black obviously looking to some degree solemn even though there were people around you can see how engaged they are right now. it certainly was a united front. i'm not sure if you called a sabbath for the absolutely the four of them together. i would imagine the camera is staying on william because remember he is the important figure now next to his father king charles iii, he is t the ar
9:51 am
and he will be watching the statement he released, he will say the best way that he can pay tribute to his loving granny is to support his father in every way that he can as king. that is exactly what we are seeing here right now. aishah: it looks like we panned over to the right we see kate and william talking to the crowd. i do not see harry and meghan there anymore. griff: grade you make a good point, for many of the people in the crowd, they are meeting the new prince's wales. many of the young children that we see there and many of the younger folks in the crowd they may yet see the day when william becomes king, king charles 73, we know this family has strong genes, by the way you see harry back there talking. let's listen in for just a
9:52 am
second i'm interested if we can hear anything from harry, let's listen. [inaudible conversations] griff: if we could hear the words being exchanged. a very interesting moment there and clearly the crowd excited to see harry as well. >> quite thrilled i talk to people here in attractive people over the last couple of years, there been a lot of differences, a lot of friction with meghan but i think there is still a heartfelt love for this fellow a little bit of a rascal in the naughty boy in a little bit of a younger brother and you had affection for even though he ran around and got into trouble.
9:53 am
basically he is honoring his grandmother to. he was very close to queen elizabeth the second. you can see the images of him going to bowe morrow and leaving instruct by sadness at this t time. there was a very special connection between the two of them. i think more than anything that is what he is doing i don't think he was taken after patch things up with william, i think you think about his grandmother and he is glad that the people are out here offering flowers and wishes and that's exactly what harry is doing he is conveying the deep feelings of remembrance for the late queen elizabeth the second. aishah: we have the camera on meghan and she is talking with younger children as we have seen her do in previous engagements when she was serving as duchess
9:54 am
and going on her formal engagement. a lot of folks would come out for those events. we would see a fanfare, huge crowds for her when she was still living in the united kingdom. obviously receiving a lot about k's having to hand those off to her aides or whoever is out there to help the couple. zeroing in on the kids and the young ones. a new mother of two and really taking this all in. this would be the first time in a very long time she is greeting and coming face-to-face with the british people and reconnected i would say and really reintroducing herself because it's been a while that they have seen her out and about and engaged with her. griff: aishah this is quite fascinating. there was speculation in the media that she would almost be
9:55 am
airbrushed out of this. a of mourning that will be kept in the background and not be present and we would see harry and maybe not too much of meghan but here we are the full second day of mourning and they are sending a lot of time out there. i don't know if you had a flock on it but it has to be 15 - 20 minutes in the public. it looks like the wrapping up or maybe he's working the other side of the crowd. harry is out there, meghan is out there. i had to tell you the feelings about meghan are little bit more mixed if i tell you the public opinion here but they seem to be embracing meghan as well. what's good for harry is good for them. it must be the attitude. griff: it is remarkable to witness this moment. we should note in our coverage we should give kudos to the
9:56 am
royal staffer that has to hold the flowers. they are getting so many flowers the camera pans and you see the gentleman in carrying so many flowers but i want to ask you. you covered the royals for very long and you understand how they work, very little is done without planning and foret forethought. the image that you described the four of them walking the long drive out of windsor castle. buckingham palace had to know that that will be the image on tomorrow's front covers of newspapers. that will suggest a unity. >> is pretty interesting. to say that could get a lot of media coverage tomorrow morning newspaper. this is the day the king charles iii officially became king. a couple of hours ago and
9:57 am
st. james' palace not far from where we are the proclamation was made, the ceremony was conducted. charles should be number one but i gotta believe at the very least this will share some of the spotlight. i don't think they mind i think the royals no this is all about honoring the queen in the grandmother the two gentlemen and their wives who are cared for and respected also by the public. i think they're going to let this role nobody is going to say cut, they're going to let this role which i think is a beatable thing. aishah: i wonder i'm sitting there watching this and taking it all in and wondering whose idea this was. this is such a smart brilliant idea i wonder if it was the two brothers that came together and thought i'm going to go out for the walkabout do you want to come with me or i wonder if it was king charles iii and if it was him i'm thinking it's brilliant marketing move.
9:58 am
it is the beginning of his reign and everyone is going to be talking about harry and meghan, it is the elephant in the room it's hard not to talk about them. they are there on the ground we are seeing the for the first time for a very long time there's a lot said and a lot of love lost over the last couple of years. i wonder if they came from buckingham palace or if it was at the two brothers. it is a brilliant marketing technique to present a brand-new era and to say i am the new king and i keep my family in order. it's something that the queen was really noted for, even though she had a lot of family members, four kids, tens of grandkids people doing things here and there and everywhere she was able to keep them
9:59 am
together into keep herself separated from the drama as much as possible she never really took the bad pr on herself no matter what any of her children were getting up to. >> i want to get your first point, there could be a plan, on day two of them mourning. let's throw the drama out. will they get together, want to get together, will they appear in public, will they talk to each other, not get it out of the way. that's a very insightful thought, that could very well be although we are not inside buckingham palace and not inside of the royal house we don't know what's going on to your second point absolutely, the queen just that she was the unifier of this country and the apolitical rock upon which this country stood she was also the unifier in the common thread throughout the long extended family.
10:00 am
remember harry and meghan is not the only rough spot in the family. there are other problems with other spouses, there have been issues in the past and issues still in the present. it was the queen that saul over those issues, saw the family members for what they are exactly that, royal family members. members of her family and it was important for her to try especially to patch things up and maybe we are seeing that right griff: you are looking live if you're just joining us 1:00 o'clock in the east coast outside of windsor castle. the new prince and princess of whales william with kate along with his brother harry and megan, the prince and princess of duchess although not serving in official capacity but out greeting the thousands that have turned out to mourn queen elizabeth as the united kingdom gets an official new king, king
10:01 am
charles the third, made official in a constitutional ceremony. welcome to fox news live, i'm griff jenkins along with aishah. aishah: so welcome to welcome you in brand-new hour of fox news live. a really historic moment here and here we go, we are watching william and kate, harry and megan speaking with each other for the first time in a very long time, live on the air, historic moment for the past 20 minutes or so, they have been shaking hands and greeting the crowds that have come out to windsor castle to pay their respects and now we are watching them get back into their cars and get ready to head out but they spent quite a bit of time greeting those crowds and making sure they had one-on-ones with as many people as possible particularly the children out
10:02 am
there who you said, griff, may we prince william become king william, really important point there. what a moment that we just saw. everyone has been wondering what the role will be for harry and megan, will we see them, will we see the two interact with the family, there's been so much pain between the two brothers over the years and we just saw really incredible moment wondering who was responsible for that moment but quite a way to set the tone as we all -- the world watches and gets ready to say good-bye, their final good-bye to the queen. griff: iconic image to witness the brothers together, setting aside their differences. we don't know for how long but i believe we've got greg palcock with us so well covering these things.
10:03 am
this moment that we just saw of the two brothers and their wives greeting the thousands of turnouts in windsor castle, certainly a moment that's historical in every sense. greg: historic and very meaningful for the family, for the country, remembrance of queen elizabeth the second for looking ahead of the future reign of king charles the third. both william and kate, permanent home is out at windsor and harry and megan when they are in the uk, they stay out at windsor and perhaps you want to pause and hear some reaction of the peoples here. >> i'm his mother, jody. >> and my mom joan. she got a hug. she's shy. come and talk. yes. >> harry.
10:04 am
harry, yeah. he has made our year actually, he was so nice and we have come far and thank you for coming and it was just terrific. so nice to see all four together and just, yeah, it was bill brilliant. >> we didn't expect any like this at all. >> he said he would make sure the flowers got to where they needed to be. >> really, really nice. he was so lovely. what did he say to you? >> similar, did we come far, how long did it take us and how long have we been waiting and thanked us and i'm pleased the rain held off. it's really generous. definitely. what you would expect. subdued but just so thankful so many people were here to support them, all of them. >> do you remember what you said to him? >> i said hi and i -- i also
10:05 am
said that i put down some flowers for her, for the queen. yeah. >> did he seem pleased. >> he did, yeah. >> yeah. really good. >> strange. meeting somebody that you see on television on the news, it's quite -- they were lovely as you would hope. they were so, so nice. >> thank you for your time. >> thank you. >> what's your name? greg: listening to that -- aishah, we can say that mission accomplished might be a banner that you could put across that scene. mission accomplished. hearing what they said and that they did came a while but loved talking to the royals and them asking the public questions about how long it took them, making sure that they knew that they would bring the flowers to the right place.
10:06 am
remember, this is about queen elizabeth the second, this is about remembering the late queen and, in fact, that's what this was all about. but it was about bringing the royals closer to the public and that's exactly what we saw. you can see in the image, that's the one that i was referring to. walking down the long walk, that's coming out of the grounds of windsor castle, windsor castle is behind. remember, that was where the queen loved to stay. she really didn't liking buckingham palace and felt much more comfortable at windsor castle and she could go with her horses and prince philip when he was alive and roll around the streets in his carriage. that was a very favorite spot for the queen and as i noted, william and kate now have moved out here. they are in a home out there and when harry and megan are in town, they also stay out there. so this made sense and now we can pretty much figure out the choreography of this. again, they were inside windsor
10:07 am
castle. they came through the main gate, this is right next to the town, the town is off to the left. we've gone live there several times and favorite pub for philip and if it just ended there, this would be a moment, a moment we would all remember but as we just saw, they took it much, much farther mingling with the crowds for at least 15 minutes in a warm and respectful way. it's -- >> aishah: truly incredible greg palcock who has been with us pretty much during this coverage and i want to bring jack royston, royal commentator, what an ironic moment as griff pointed out, this has to be on
10:08 am
the cover of all of uk's newspapers tomorrow but not only uk's but around the world because people have been waiting desperately to see these two together and here they were and they put on quite a show. what did you take away from this? >> this is hugely important. the strongest sign of olive branch from prince william. it's a great sign for the relationship and the closest in proximity that megan has been with william and kate in 2020 when she conducted last royal jobs before quitting and reminiscent of the really early days in megan's royal career when we called the fav 4 and the perception they had gotten really well and i don't know if you remember seeing shots all walking in a line, i was reminded of those days which
10:09 am
was, you know, before everything that we now know about since then. so clearly, i think, the last couple of days have been really difficult for everybody. everybody in the royal family, really tough times. william arrived at balmoral days before to say good-bye. so i think just see obviously there's been a really desire on william's part to welcome not just harry but also megan, it's promising sign for the relationship. it's good that this has come from william. griff: jack, you mentioned, fav 4, we witnessed the four of them spending time with the crowd, really bringing a lot of joy and
10:10 am
perhaps hope to this crowd in this moment of grief that the feud between these brothers might be set aside. we knew they set aside differences for the funeral, for this moment but what -- what about does this suggest to you in any way that there could be more of a reconciliation. by the way, we are looking live now at the crowds outside of buckingham palace but the expectations of what the -- the british people are witnessing, do they think perhaps maybe they'll set aside differences for more than just these ten days? >> i think it will be a long road to travel but hopefully this is an indication, fingers crossed they might be taking steps down that road. there's been false start and when harry came up for prince philip's funeral in 2021, he was filmed chanting to william, chanting to katherine like it was perfectly normal and hope
10:11 am
that something had rekindled but transpired that nothing meaningful took place in that moment but one big difference today that obviously megan has been here too. so we must assume that megan would have had a chance to speak to william and kate face to face and that's the first time she would have done that, you know, since oprah winfrey, all the things that we have all heard and discussing and debating since march 2021. there's mention in that interview and, you know, i'm sure that there are very strong feelings on both sides and to see that they've been able to put those feelings which must feel like they come from another world after everything that's happened since thursday to be able to put those feelings to one side and focus on this feeling right now, that does suggest that maybe this could be a moment when the long journey begins. aishah: yeah, jack, the images are a bit jarring because you are one sitting there wondering how they could be in the room
10:12 am
together, how they could be close together after the things that have been said but i think just hearing after a couple of those brits out there, after they left, you know, everyone seems to be so excited and happy and almost relieved, you know, sighing a breath of relief, good, they are together. my question to you is, how surprised are you that they did this on the second day of mourning and who do you think -- whose idea do you think this was? do you think it came from prince william, the new prince of whales or it came from up tom, the new king telling the world and setting the tone that my family is not broken, that we will be united, we will put duties before our personal matters? >> she was by my side in the happiest moments. aishah: jack, are you still with us? okay. i think we might have lost jack so we will try to get him back
10:13 am
in just a little bit but that's the question i have, griff, is, you know, we will never know because the workings of buckingham palace and the inside conversations we just don't know but i think we can all speculate and wondering and if it was a move by the king, what a smart and savvy move to put he is kids out there and say, you know what, put your differences aside for this day. remember what my mother was all about. she wanted to preserve the family. she wanted everyone to get along. family was so deeply important to the queen and this is such an incredible moment, again, just seeing these four together as jack pointed out and i wanted to make sure and confirm and justin: confirmed this is the first time we have seen them together like this since christmas, the first time when they were labeled the fav 4 walking down the same long walk
10:14 am
in front of windsor castle. so it has been many years. we've gone through a pandemic, we have gone through losing prince philip and now the queen to bring these two couples back together. griff: and you also -- having megan there and as jack was so rightfully pointing out, this would have been the first time for megan to speak directly to william and kate since march of 2021 and you have to wonder whether or not that in this moment, this ten-day period when the two brothers would have to set aside differences temporarily, whether or not the king, their father just hoped maybe this was a chance to really strike at what was driving the feud which is megan as we watch her now a part of this and, you know, when we were listening it was fascinating to hear the crowd, the few people
10:15 am
they talked to in the crowd there, the one woman just elated saying my mum joan got a hug from harry. that meant something to her. aishah: absolutely. griff: even the young boy they were talking and to know that that would be such a moment with a new prince and princess of whales to include harry and megan to be allowed to make that connection, to be included inside this connection to the british people in this period of mourning but also the period when they are lacking for the hope, when they are looking also at at the same time to the future, significant, i think, decision by both king charles and whoever else makes these decisions in buckingham palace to put her there despite as greg palcock pointed earlier there had been reports to keep megan at a distance. aishah: and i think the other part of the equation is the people on the left there.
10:16 am
the people of the united kingdom, the common wealth countries and really the rest of the world that watches the royal family so closely. but, you know, did it work? will it work in the coming days we will find out if public opinion has changed at all. i think, you know, this was one to have first times megan has been able to converse with the folks, the people who live in the united kingdom. she hasn't lived there for quite a while and so i -- i think, you know, the road to reconciliation is long especially for folks who live there but at least it has started in this way to where there might be -- there might be some -- some open doors, i guess you could say. i don't know that it's completely healed, the public perception of megan and harry but just seeing them together with prince william, the future king, right, the new prince of whales, seeing them together and
10:17 am
i will point out as royals are, these two couples were still reserved with each other. they weren't really -- i was waiting to see if they would chat with each other and laugh and maybe put an arm around each other and they really didn't. you can see william and kate here taking the lead as they should as protocol to be just one step ahead of his brother and his wife and then they both, the couple separated as they went to go shake hands and -- and greet those people that have come out to pay their sympathies and respects and right at the end i think they said a couple of words to each other before they got into two separate vehicles and took off. there was still reservation between the two couples, they weren't joking or smiling in which they wouldn't be in this moment. it all led on how they are really feeling.
10:18 am
griff: in terms of the friendly talking and -- and, you know, engaging with each other, i don't think they are there yet. aishah: no. griff: we have jack royston back. thank you, the troubles of modern communications sometimes, these things drop out but we are so fortunate to have you here because of the significance of the moment we witnessed with the four together, greeting the crowds and we had listened to a moment to the people in the crowd getting a reaction, a man on the street and one woman said that her mom joan got a hug from harry, clearly elated in this mourning period, speak to us about the significance of that. jack's screen may -- >> aishah: lost him again. griff: this is what happens in these moments. we are taking you back to buckingham palace. the crowd, aishah, is the story
10:19 am
and the thousands upon thousands just two days since the queen's passing and the first day of the official new monarch king charles the third made official in a constitutional ceremony earlier today, just hours ago, but as the crowds gather in buckingham also turning out for quite a moment outside of windsor castle when the two brothers william and harry walked out with their wives kate and megan. the four of them together showing not only had they set aside differences for the moment but they were willing to also engage with the crowds and as you see there, kate just talking to the crowd, people turning out with their dogs. i was struck with how many people brought their dogs out. aishah: it's a historic moment. the pets have to see it too. we will try to get greg palcock in just a moment.
10:20 am
this is a live look outside of the british embassy here in washington, d.c. and you can see quite the tribute. dozens and dozens of bouquets as she sends message to partner, ally and friends that we are all also mourning along with you and the royal family as we prepare along with the rest of the world to say the final good-bye to a queen who has become such an icon, for so many of us, we have known no other queen. we don't have a monarchy here in america but there is a connection, there is such a great connection between so many of the countries that actually fought, you know, wars to leave the empire, the great empire.
10:21 am
i come from pakistan which was also another country that left the empire, but at the same time, you know, having those emotions and feelings about whatever you might have about the united kingdom, there was always still great respect for the queen and -- and her service to the common wealth and her life and how she set a new tone in the monarchy. and always put country above everything else. just an incredible tribute that we are watching here live here in the capitol of the united states. griff: indeed, as the united kingdom is preparing saying farewells to queen elizabeth with her funeral now set monday september 19th, let's go to alexis mcadams live with more details, alexis, what can you tell us reporter: just the moments that you're talking about thousands of people

showing up with kids, their dogs and being part of moment in history. it was noble to have william, kate, harry and megan pay their respects. the longest reign in british history has now come to a close so the royal mourning will continue until one week after the funeral. it will officially all start tomorrow when the queen's coffin will leave the balmoral estate where she passed away peacefully after spending moments surrounded by her family. you can see the tributes there. the queen's coffin draped with the royal standard flag will make its way to the palace of the holly house in scotland. there are a lot of steps. we are trying to map it out for you. the british monarch in scotland is where the house is and the royal family will be part of the procession on this day. queen elizabeth will be taken to

up. she will be buried next to her husband prince philip. still a lot of steps there but we have learned just in the last hour, griff and aishah, that will be the day she's laid to rest, just in nine days we are waiting to have the queen's funeral and they don't know how many people are going to show up. people are going to come all over the world for this. griff: yes, alexis, that's exactly what everyone is wondering. look at the hundreds of thousands of turning out outside of windsor and buckingham today and who knows who is going to show up, not to mention who is who of a vip list of the dignitaries that will be in attendance, alexis mcdams, great details, thank you very much. >> thanks. aishah: griff, if there's any indication of what we just saw outside of windsor castle, i would imagine in all of the steps in the coming days we will see a lot of harry and megan as the tone has been set, they are definitely going to be a part of this funeral and all of the
10:25 am
things are to come before the funeral. well, president biden in the meantime has now officially confirmed his plans to attend queen elizabeth's funeral while ramping up efforts on the campaign ahead of november's midterms. lucas tomlinson live outside the white house with all the latest on the president. lucas. lucas: aishah, things change very quickly, of course, in britain and president biden was not planning a trip to london monday boris johnson prime minister and queen elizabeth was still the ruling monarch and, of course, that changed in the week. charles is now the king, liz truss is now the prime minister and pete buttigieg will be going to the service in westminster abbey. >> are you going to the queen's funeral, sir? >> yes. i don't know what the details are yet but i will be going. >> have you call -- have you spoken to the king? >> no, i haven't spoken to him. i did not call him yet.
10:26 am
thank you. lucas: aishah, the un general assemblies was supposed to kick off next week and president biden was supposed to be going to new york for for that with all the world leaders going to london and not new york this definitely upsets the plans for obvious reasons and changing everything and plans in place and moving rapidly. aishah: lucas is changing everything for the better for this administration because when you think about it, they are not only going to meet the new king, the president will also now get to meet the new prime minister, so he gets to knock two birds out with one stone. the administration has to be looking at this as a big win in a way for them because they get to do all of these things in one single trip albeit it is a sorrowful trip. lucas: that's right, if there's any indication, the popularity that we just saw there with prince william and his brother, megan and kate middleton walking the rope line maybe president biden wants to get on that a little bit. certainly you would think it's a very smart move and welcome and
10:27 am
certainly leaving behind some of the problems back here in the united states. aishah: absolutely. and a moment to take a breath for the monarchy because the uk also facing very similar problems if not worse when it comes to sky-high inflation, rising gas prices, all of that, the country really in a lot of trouble but for now there are united in their brief and we will say final good-bye to the queen. lucas tomlinson outside the white house. thank you, lucas. lucas: you bet. aishah: all right, we will be right back.

charles, give us your thoughts on what you were thinking as the couples came down the long walk. >> first of all i disagree with you that it was a snub by king charles on harry. harry is his son and right to mention as still loving couple but what we've just seen, i nearly fell off the stairs. i knew that william and katherine were going to come out and meet the crowds and i did not know that they would be joined by harry and meghan and we have just heard that the reason this has happened because william, our new prince of whales actually asked harry and meghan to come and join him and katherine on this walking. they spent a good 30, 35 minutes
