castle in scotland tomorrow and arrived in london tuesday. she will lie in state for four days before the funeral. her son, the new king met with prime minister liz trust in full cabinet today after the ceremony formally proclaiming him the new monarch as king charles the third. arthel: as you mentioned prince william, princess kate, prince harry and meghan duchess of sussex appeared publicly together for the first time since the queens death. the greeted mortars and viewed floral attributes to the windsor castle. fox team coverage, fox news royal contributor standing by. alexis mcadams with more on the queens funeral plans but we will first go to senior correspondent greg, live at buckingham palace in london. i can hear people still are paying tribute to the queen.

>> we are getting into the evening here on a saturday night but people are showing up to pay respects. the crowds here the past two days have a couple of glimpses of king charles the third to their delight but you're right out in windsor, the public got a treat. for the first time in some two years we saw prince william and his wife kate and prince harry and wife meghan together. of course they were there too honor the memory of their late grandmother queen elizabeth the second. william invited harry and company to join, they paused to look at flowers and work the crowd and shook hands and exchanged greetings and accepted words from the public, the moment at least attention between the two branches of the royal family set aside. yes it's a day when charles was officially reclaimed, king charles the third in a 300 year tradition done by something called exception counsel.

president by his side, queens condors wife camilla and earlier in the day, next in line for the throne, a new title, prince of wales. various locations after that including the tower of london, cannons blasted away to make sure all were aware of the solemn changing of the guard. the speech of the ceremony charles go back to his mother, here what he had to say. >> i'm deeply aware of this great inheritance and duties and responsibility's of sovereignty which have now passed to me. >> the focus of course on the late queen elizabeth the second, her body will be transported in scotland to edinburgh tomorrow, six hour drive there will be a lot of well-wishers along the

way. eventually it will come down here to buckingham palace and on the ten days of morning for the state funeral set for week from monday. a lot of time for folks to remember in a bit of time for a few fences to be mended. arthel: the queen is already so missed. she represented dignity, grace, unity, love and it seems that feeling permeates throughout the air there. do you think that will cause everyone to cheer on the royal family to be unified as brothers and family? >> well we are feeling the love from the public for the royals. of course immediately for queen elizabeth the second and then

support for king charles the third, charles not completely popular here but he's like by a lot of people but we felt the support for him and prince william, harry and meghan so yes a lot of love shared, a lot of thoughts and memories shared. we got ten days but it's worth it because for 70 years the queen was above the fray, 15 prime ministers, 15 u.s. presidents, a political but rock upon which this country rested. arthel: and that's a great sentiment to focus on the reign of queen elizabeth the second and everything she represented and how she will be dearly missed. greg live in buckingham palace, thank you. >> thank you. eric: we can hear construction agreement getting ready as they build grandstands at buckingham

palace. more preparations are underway for the queens final journey. back to london where mortars will pay respects before the funeral about nine days from now. alexis mcadams with more on t that. >> talk about construction crews and so much to do before it underway. queen elizabeth will make her final journey as the longest reign in british history has come to a close. the morning will continue one week after the funeral. it starts tomorrow in the queens coffin believe the estate where she passed away peacefully spending her last moment surrounded by her family. medic from the scottish castle queens coffin draped of the royal standard flag will make its way to the palace of hollywood house, the official residence of the british monarch in scotland. the king and members of the royal family will be there and be part of this procession and born somber service.

queen elizabeth will be taken to the cathedral another large procession and she will lie and rest and guarded by visuals from the royal company for they will have a public appearance there to come pay for. tuesday the queens coffin will travel to london aboard royal air force aircraft, wednesday she will travel buckingham palace to the palace of westminster when she will lie in state for five days. her casket will be raised up on platforms in the middle, is the oldest part of the palace so entirely a lot of history throughout this process. her funeral will begin in coffin will travel westminster hall to westminster abbey, massive crowds are expected to come mourn the loss of the 96-year-old monarch heads of state, dignitaries from across the world, people will be there too pay respects. finally monday the queen will travel procession before being lowered into the vault inside of st. george's.

eric: that will be her resting place had the windsor castle. it's a place other family members are. >> other families will be the specifically buried next to her husband, he died in 2021 just during the covid pandemic and missed people coming in. less than two years later the couple will be back together, laid to rest next to one another. eric: what a story. well, the overshadowing prince charles, king charles the se second, william and harry walking out and windsor seen crowds, we see the video now after strife and oprah interview and the news of his upcoming book by harry, what is the reaction there? >> you could hear it in the crowd earlier, people so excited to see. this captured the crowd, they

are working to gather to create thousands in mourning dressed in black you can see head to toe, a somber mood but they show unity as they continue to grieve but every time there's a book coming out or an interview, there's something that comes out of it. eric: one would think this is what the grandmother would have wanted and reunited with the family. arthel: all right, more on this, the spring and duncan, fox news royal contributor and former royal editor of the sun and author of prince harry, the inside story mentioned. we will get to that in a moment that i want to ask you, what does the queens passing mean to you personally? >> that wasn't the question i was expecting i had a moment on the day where i spoke to my mom,

my mom told me the name and she remember's as a school girl where mistress came in and she was a little girl at age seven i think she came in and told the teacher and the teacher burst into tears but it wasn't until my mom and other children spoke with the parents it was appropriate to tell but it's like memories are bouncing around generations and some of the memories, 70 years in the case of my mom and a 10-year-old daughter waved the flag when the queen visited our village so there's a sense of bereavement for people and for me as well, we've all went up with the queen as that one constant is british people. no matter what people think, nobody has had a bad word to say about this incredible woman but

it's almost surreal few days but thank you for asking. arthel: thank you for sharing and you are right, there's something that seems unsettling and i feel untethered a little bit the queen is no longer with us on this earth so let's hope she can maintain in her wake the unity she forged in her life. that brings me to her grandsons with scrutiny of harry and meghan, can they do no right or will the family reimburse them ask especially the prince and princess of wales, william and kate? >> that is the question because we've just seen, their team described the scenes and windsor, this surprise walkabout

and finally the fat for her once spectacularly known back together after so much will it last? or is this the green shoots of healing? i honestly think it's one of the most tragic problems that have emerged because i covered prince harry when he was a teen and i got to know william and harry well. one of the things that struck me all the way through was they were just brothers, they were almost like identical twins not identical, they thought for each other, they are close and her majesty last wish would have been no mistake, for that rift to be healed so amongst this summer and said respectful occasion, we are treated to optimism and real hope, meghan

were migrant buses are in chicago. migrants may not be staying in the windy city for long. lori lightfoot has been sending migrants to century city, from the city to a hotel 20 miles from downtown in the suburban mayors receiving migrants while some of them are furious. alexandra hoff has the story. >> the mayor in illinois said he

bill melugin is live in eagle pass, texas with more. >> good afternoon. century city's likely will have more buses heading their way because the numbers here are not stopping or slowing down. look at this video we shot this morning here in eagle pass, epicenter of the border crisis like clockwork everyday sunrise we get single groups who come across, this one about 200 in total, almost all of them single adults, most from cuba, venezuela and nicaragua but that paled in comparison to yesterday. look at this video, a little town outside of eagle pass, a bigger group of up to 100 migrants who came across at the same time against predominately single adults from cuba, as well and nicaragua, not subject to title 42 so most of them will be released into the united states. look at this dramatic river rescue video also here in eagle pass. border patrol here using boat to save five migrants who were

struggling to the swollen river here after days of rain. the other day 13 migrants around here in eagle pass after the storms made the river swollen, the deadliest mass drowning here in years. last thing, look at this picture and arizona, cbp agents at the port of entry making a fentanyl bust finding 52000 fentanyl pills smuggled inside a vehicle hidden in the car's dashboard. thankfully a news stopped fentanyl from getting in to the united states. border patrol here report, they arrested a child sex predator from mexico with previous conviction for lewd acts with the child in south carolina. this guy was previously deported from the u.s. for months ago in may and evidently tried crossing in this sector this week. border patrol agents caught him and will likely send him back again.

>> i'm not sure if you know this but have these guys, the governors and mayors, president, having thought about let's get together too fix this instead of pointing fingers? >> it sure doesn't sound like it. we heard texas governor greg abbott at least invite president biden, eric adams to come down to the border and that hasn't happened yet. president biden has never been to the border in his life but it doesn't sound like there's a lot of communication going on in both sides. arthel: thanks, bill. eric: president biden stopping for democrats is midterms approach but parties candidates are still keeping their dis distance, just over eight weeks until election day. we will tell you about the midterms straight ahead here on fox news live.

midterm campaigns full swing, some democrats are giving president biden a bit of the cold shoulder. that's over low poll numbers but the numbers are climbing at record highs. the president visited ohio yesterday and attended ground breaking of a new until semiconductor plan. democratic senate candidate tim ryan was there but the president did not make it a partisan event. lucas tomlinson has more on the president and his plan especially in the wake of queen elizabeth's death. >> the president mentions him by name but did not mention his upcoming senate campaign. early this week the white house repairs for the president's trip to the new york in the general assembly meeting with other world leaders. president biden was the world leaders in london.

withdrawing from the kharkiv region. this news and development, a major one days after major gains were seen throughout the front lines in the south and east stemming from a large counteroffensive by ukrainian forces. as you watch this video showing ukrainian forces raising a flag, just one of the 30 different settlements ukraine says they've taken back. in some spots ukrainian forces have been so effective they are isolating russian forces cutting off vital supplies on the front lines. volodymyr zelenskyy tonight reporting he's forces liberated 700 square miles of territory since the counteroffensive start this month but listen to how he's responding to the withdrawal of russian forces. >> the russian army is showing its back and it's a good choice for them to run away. no place for occupiers in ukraine.

>> order according to reports from russian state media, the troops withdrawing are now focusing on liberating donbas moving to that region. regardless of what's happening on the front lines, this is a major win for ukrainian forces and near seven months long were. arthel: major development indeed. jeff paul, thanks. eric: meanwhile, concern over russia's close ties to china through all of this. vladimir putin and chinese president xi jinping. they will meet next week the first time since putin invaded ukraine. will putin tried to get china on board with an alliance that may include north korea and iran? former nato supreme commander admiral is not so sure beijing will support putin. >> president xi jinping doesn't want to go full here. he doesn't want to provide high

and weapons, he doesn't want to be that phone a friend arms stealer, putin is taking russia down a path that will be a junior partner to the largest chinese enterprise. the chinese will take advantage of russia again and again and again. i think putin at times can be a smart tactician is a terrible strategist. eric: putin on the losing end. rebecca joins us, former u.s. defense intelligence officer and author of the book, putin's playbook russia's secret plan to defeat america and if anyone knows about putin's brain and thinking and strategy, it is rebecca. good to see you. what is he trying to do and what you expect out of the meeting next week when he sits down with xi jinping? >> putin is definitely trying to deepen russians relations with china. the war is not going well for

putin when russia is looking for artillery shells from north korea and iran. that means the russian industrial complex is not able to produce what is required. this is part of a bigger plan, the russia china so-called no limit strategic ownership putin his trying to establish. eric: as president xi jinping putting limits on the no limits? >> absolutely. xi jinping is realizing putin miscalculated by choosing connecticut option in order to reestablish control over ukraine. since the war is not going well for putin the united states and the west having ukraine's back, xi jinping is thinking twice

whether he actually should invade taiwan and perhaps the option is to use what he calls subversion strategy and a slow reintegration so he's definitely not all in. it's a strategic alliance but they are not natural allies. there's fear, suspicion between the two authoritarians, what unites them is disdain for the united states and rules -based international order. eric: what's fascinating with china trying to relegate russia to a junior partner is china is trying to get the upper hand, do you think china will get the upper hand, china has moved and will move into the number one spot behind us when it comes to russia and china?

>> china's long-term strategic goal is the united states as the dominant geopolitical player as well as to replace u.s. dollar with chinese, the premier currency and exchange. right now in my analysis russia presents the top threat to the united states from the standpoint of connecticut th threat, the nuclear threat but china is a longer-term threat so eventually because russia is on the declining trajectory in terms of demographics, economics and china is on the upper trajectory, the roles are going to reverse. usually russia considered china as it junior partner but balance of power is clearly shifting in

beijing's favor. eric: and putin apparently hasn't done any favors, look at the ukrainian war now. it looks like russia is losing, ukraine wrapped more territory in the east, a brilliant maneuver around russia's most elite troops. is it your sense putin miscalculated? what do you see next that's a mistake with this didn't realize what he would get his country into? >> putin has spent the past decade calibrating strategies in order to win in ukraine but what he miscalculated on is the unprecedented level of support the united states would provide and is providing to ukraine in terms of traditional and military aid, weaponry but also

the response from businesses, practically every single business has russia. in that sense, putin did is calculate but in my assessment he's not going to stop waging war on ukraine because he's wrapped up his entire russian strategy, so-called the russian world whereby russia seeks to reintegrate post- serbia state over soviet control where putin believes he should go defend russians no matter where in the world they are located so it's a tough one and he's not the one to give up, his psychological profile is such that he will not lose, he will drag everyone down with him including the nuclear

police in las vegas say they've found dna of a county official under the fingernails of a journalist stabbed to death

and your experience hunting down those who would want to kill us. you safer now? we are but has the threat of of islamic terrorism early diminished? >> thank you for having me. yes and no, i think our knowledge of terrorism helps in terms of funding and over the horizon capabilities stopping the attacks but we have to remember where he was captured and it really was in the middle of the heart of afghanistan so the fact is heetty brazen and safe being out there and you have the taliban in control of that country and hotspots in africa. molly and sub-saharan western coast of africa and i think the threats are very real and i do think we can kill these people, we can kill in modern but the

reality is we can never kill an idea. technology and social media is incredibly different now than 21 years ago. i worry how quickly the ideas spread. eric: the first islamic terrorist attack was a killing in 1990 in new york city and then the bombing plot and 93 attack on the world trade center and others. how can we, or is it possible to kill the idea, attack the philosophy, militant philosophy the islamic terrorists follow? >> i think it's an excellent question and i would like to share an anecdote how i feel, we can't stop these things. when i worked at the cia, part of my job was to have conversations with terrorists in custody and the one thing i learned from them surprised me the most is the vast majority of them are not necessarily, they didn't begin as religious fanatics, they want to this

terrorist idea because they lived in what's called failed or fragile states that couldn't provide for their basic needs and al qaeda swooped in and provided them with medicine, food, comfort, everything they could possibly need and i think that's a key component. president bush and his national security directives did allocate assistance to fail state and was continued under a few presidents after him and i think that the critical thing we need to work toward, quelling the idea a little bit. eric: from your conversations, and their minds be changed? >> i do, i think there are so herein, maybe his successors, i am not certain of their minds can be changed. however, it can be made to be more difficult to recruit mid-level soldiers if we help
