border. they are talking about arrests they are making. but just look at their own numbers. john is exactly right. she's talking about we have expelled the most migrants ever with title 42. more than 2 million people have crossed this year alone. breaking their own records. last year, 1.7 million. we are not even done with this fiscal year yet, we are already over 2 million. so, yes, they are going to be expelling more people when you have a massive amount of people across the border. the other thing is, she makes it sound like they are using title 42 across the board in all cases. that is absolutely not true whatsoever. here in del rio sector, eagle pass, almost everybody crossing here is venezuela, cuba or nicaragua. those countries are not subject to title 42 because mexico won't take them back and neither will their home countries. instead, they are released and processed via title 8. released with a future court date. i'm going to give you a number right now. a few days ago more than 1800
11:18 am
people crossed illegally here. only 400 were expelled title 42. yuma, arizona sector. a few days ago, 754 people crossed in one day, 32 were expelled via title 42. it is not being used consistently, apologize, we have a border patrol boat going by us right now, they are not using title 42 consistently across the board as she's trying to make it sound like to the american public. >> sandra: back to the live picture there, bill. you've got a lot of activity behind you, obviously bringing the viewers the aerial shot of the border you only see here on the fox news channel, that's an example of the continued activity behind you. bill, amazing reporting there on the ground, getting the story straight because the white house saying somehow they are being lured on to the busses and planes, and you have been reporting that is just not the case, and in some cases, most

cases you are saying they are choosing exactly where they want to go. thank you very much. we'll check back in soon. john. >> john: let's bring in dave rubin, host of rubin report on youtube. the idea the migrants are being misled where they are going, only thing i saw was the migrants dropped off at the naval observatory thought they were going to union station, might have been turned. you know, this idea that this is becoming increasingly political, that greg abbott is bussing them to the gates of the naval observatory, desantis to martha's vineyard, lori lightfoot is bussing illegal migrants from downtown to a republican suburb, and el paso is bussing them to new york city, nobody is complaining about that. but the fact more than 2 million people have crossed the border and something has to give here.
11:20 am
>> right. let's deal with that part first. 2 million people crossing the border, that is the job of the federal government. so just looking where do you lay blame first, whether people should go to sanctuary cities or not or ok to bus people or put them on planes. number one, everyone has to understand. looking for who started this problem, it is 100% the biden administration no matter what jean karine pierre says, it's the federal government to protect the borders. and now, bouncing across state lines and different cities, i think this is quite good because it is bursting forth the fundamental difference between democrat policies and republican policies. i'm a very proud new floridaand desantis warned the biden administration what he was going to do. he said if they come here, sending them to d.c. or martha's vineyard.
11:21 am
and i suspect he'll send them to d.c., too. texas is doing the same thing. seeing states say ok if the federal government will not do their job, one of the few things the federal government is supposed to do, protect our borders then hey, go ahead and go to the sanctuary cities. and the democrats are freaking out now that, and the media is freaking out that they are showing up in martha's vineyard and chicago and other democrat-run cities, don't you care about immigrants? i thought everybody is welcome, nobody is illegal, etc., etc., although now d.c., their homeless shelters are overrun so they are struggling, too. it's exposing the nonsense of the policies, i think that's good. >> john: they call themselves sanctuary cities and yet when the people seeking sanctuary come there, they are not particularly happy about it. abbott sent the bus to the naval observatory after kamala harris said this over the weekend. >> the border is secure but also have a broken immigration

11:23 am
come? >> because see it on the news everybody come in illegally. so we do the same, you know. >> john: so what that migrant said to griff jenkins would seem to stand in sharp contradiction to what the vice president claimed. >> yeah, look, i'm sympathetic to that guy's plight and the news, whatever country he is coming from is saying the border is open and he gets here and the border is open, thus he is in american territory, who is telling the truth? him or kamala harris? she has one job, she refuses to visit the border and a nation is only a nation. she blamed trump, said the previous four years. donald trump wanted to build a wall and remember what everybody said, you know, put up electric fences and monitoring, everyone said he was racist. so is it now the policies of the democrats who apparently are very pro border, are they racist now, of course not. so again, we are exposing a lot
11:24 am
of hypocrisy in the policies and i think this should just continue. let's, you know, i th think martha's vineyard, just put out a warning, that's just 50 people who showed up. what do you think has been going down at the texas border towns for years and years? they didn't have a lot of sympathy then. >> john: no, clearly they didn't. dave, great to get your thoughts on this, appreciate it. and you know, sandra, when you look at what senator joe manchin told bret baier, that would be in sharp contrast what kamala harris is saying as well. he said she's wrong. >> sandra: indeed. and a lot more reaction to this. we are continuing to monitor that briefing, john, it's obviously a big day where the migrants were delivered to kamala harris's doorstep, and also those migrants were flown into martha's vineyard. she continues to get a lot of questions on just that in the

build a volleyball stadium at his alma mater, university of southern mississippi, where his daughter played volleyball. also indicate that then mississippi governor bryant supported the effort. investigation into misspending of millions and millions of federal welfare dollars in mississippi says money was funneled through a non-profit called mississippi community education center. 5 million to the volleyball stadium, 1.1 million through favre enterprises, that favre would put the money into the stadium. one of the texts shows a conversation between favre and nancy new, the director of the non-profit in which favre was concerned about the transactions going public. if you pay me, is there any way the media can find out where it came from, and how much? new responded, no, we never have that information publicized, i understand you being uneasy about that, though.
11:45 am
chad white is the mississippi auditor. >> now we know that mr. favre not only knew that he was receiving money from this non-profit, which was funded by taxpayer dollars, we know that the funding for that was a sham and we know he knows that, too. and we now know that he didn't want the media or the public to find out about this. >> an attorney representing favre says most people keep their speaking fees as quiet as possible, but they say favre was promised grants. home said favre never knew it was coming from welfare money and never put a nickel in his pocket. new and her son pleaded guilty to misspending welfare funds. bryant and favre have not been charged with anything. >> sandra: and we will keep following that story, thank you. >> john: one of the divers who found the body of a missing teenager in a california reservoir says he is convinced that there was some sort of foul play.
11:46 am
christina coleman has more, live in los angeles. bring us up to speed on this. >> 16-year-old girl was last seen on august 6th at a large campground party 12 miles from her home. after an extensive search by law enforcement her body and suv were found submerged in a reservoir 15 days later, less than a mile from the campground. a volunteer dive team called adventures with purpose located the vehicle. they helped solve cold cases. the dive team's lead investigator says the death reeks of foul play. her remains were in the cargo hatch of the suv and had one blown out window and the rear driver's side window was halfway down. so, bishop says it does not make sense she was scrambling to the back of the suv and into the hatch confined space while the vehicle was quickly sinking. and based off where that suv was found, bishop believes it had to make a sharp turn to the left on to a dirt path about a quarter
11:47 am
of a mile from the main road, he does not believe that that was an accident. but, another search and recovery group is pushing back on his theory. they know that when a vehicle sinks in water, the engine, the heaviest part of the vehicle nosedives first. if a person is found inside, they say they are normally found in the back because they are trying to climb out of the rising water. either way at this point, it's unclear what led up to the teenager's tragic death rnths john. >> john: back to the press secretary, sandra. >> sandra: jacqui heinrich just asked her, do you believe americans are buying it that the border is secure and should voters feel they are getting lied to. listen here. >> by the last administration. what the last administration wanted was a border wall that was ineffective and a use of taxpayer dollars and that's what we saw from the last administration. about you just recently cbp
11:48 am
reported the new wall along the southeast border was breached over 3,000 times, that new wall, and between fiscal year of 201 and 2021 it's required 2.6 million in repairs. that's what we are trying to deal with with a decimated system that was certainly not helped by the last administration. look, we understand. i'm not saying there's not more work to do. we are saying there's more work to do. we are saying the system is broken. but we are saying that as well we have done -- we have done a lot of work here to fix the system and again, more individuals encountered at the border will be removed or expelled this year than in any previous year. that -- those are the facts. >> do you have a message for the migrants, though, who are saying that the border is open, i mean -- today we talked to a few who arrived in d.c., they said that the border is open, we know it's open because we come, we
11:49 am
enter, no problem. we have not heard a message from the administration in a few months telling people not to come. we have heard you guys talking about trying to make it a more orderly process, but you are not telling people not to come. >> so the department of homeland security secretary mayorkas has been very clear. he was on tv recently talking about this, talking about the work that they do, and so i will leave it to the department of homeland security to speak to that specifically. but again, this is a broken system and we are -- we want to see congress act. we want to see bipartisanship to fix the immigration system. we are fixing, trying to fix a system that was decimated by the last administration, and again, we are calling for congress to take action. >> the president dismissed the inflation report and the stock market selloff on his way out of town yesterday and then he said
11:50 am
that test driving an electric car that cost more than double the average american yearly salary made him feel optimistic. is there -- do you have a response to critics who say this administration is out of touch? >> can you say that one more time. >> he dismissed the inflation report, said he was not worried about it, we are talking about 1/10 of 1% and said he was not concerned about the stock market selloff because he says the stock market does not represent the broader economy and then went to detroit and test drove an electric car out of the price range for the average american. >> so i guess your question now. so, the president's number one priority, economic priority has been lowering cost for the american people. you think about the inflation reduction act which was only passed by democrats, republicans reduced to get on board and pass it in a bipartisan way, it lowered costs for medicare recipients, capped that at 2,000 a year, when our seniors are
11:51 am
paying $2,000 or more a month, and then you have republicans as well who want to put social security and they want to put medicare on the chopping blocks. that is the work we are doing as democrats, trying to do everything that we can to lower costs, we are trying to do everything that we can to make sure that, you know, families keep their social security unlike republicans, and families have medicare unlike what republicans want to do which is take that away. the question the president was asked about the day before yesterday which shows more progress, the data, cpi data he was speaking to shows more progress in bringing global inflation down and the u.s. economy. overall, prices have been essentially flat in our country the last two months, that is welcome news for the american families. but no doubt, no doubt we have more work to do and we understand that. and so we are seeing some encouraging sign, including inventories up, used vehicle
11:52 am
prices down and a cooling housing market which is important. it will take more time and resolve to bring inflation down, which is why, again, we pass the inflation reduction act. we, meaning democrats, not republicans to lower costs of healthcare, to lower costs of prescription drugs, lower cost of energy and the president's economic plan is creating good jobs and bringing manufacturing back to america. we have seen more than 600,000 manufacturing jobs return to the u.s. in the last 19 months of this administration. i'm going to move on. go ahead. >> john: the press secretary answering questions from our jacqui heinrich, again saying that republicans want to end social security and medicare, putting it on the chopping block, which is not the case, that's in the rick scott plan, which is going nowhere. and then she again saying the prices were flat but that was between june and july. went up .1% july to august and
11:53 am
the core cpi, up 6% july to august. so you know, when you are the press secretary you get to cherry pick and sort of mischaracterize certain things and that's kind of what she was doing there. >> sandra: and to be clear, when pressed on responding to kamala harris's claim over the weekend that our border is secure, the white house just doubled down on that with karine jean-pierre saying yes, we agree the border is secure before she went on to say as she did many times in that briefing that there's more work to do. >> john: and we had a migrant talking to griff jenkins who disagreed the border was secure, standing there outside of her home and joe manchin saying that is not the case. philadelphia progressive d.a. facing a potential impeachment. krasner refusing to comply with a subpoena with the city's rising gun violence.
11:54 am
>> sandra: krasner has been under fire for far left policies, including a repeat offender to stay on the streets before he killed a police officer. what role did that officer's murder play in sparking an investigation into krasner's office. >> thanks for having me. one of the key cases people point to why he should be impeached. no one is more upset about it than his devastated with -- widow, 23 year veteran cop was kid in march of 2020. bill mccrane said krasner puts people at risk. hassan elliott, a known gang member was free to kill officer o'connor after accepting a plea deal from krasner's office on gun charges that allowed him to walk free the very next day.
11:55 am
>> sandra: after the plea deal, still other chances to lock him up? >> multiple times, he violated parole, did not pass a drug test, and arrested for cocaine, and krasner's office let him walk free without bail. only after he was accused of murdering another person that officer o'connor was killed while trying to arrest him. here is his widow. >> if those males locked up and kept where they are supposed to be my husband would still be here today. >> devastating cannot imagine frustration. >> sandra: one of many of them with extremely unfortunate outcomes. >> unbelievable statistic. more people have been shot in philadelphia than los angeles or new york city, and also progressive d.a.s in both cities, i found this interest. since 2016, amount of cases being thrown out has more than doubled, now it's 66% and of
11:56 am
course, sandra, this is leading to an even bigger repeat offender problem. >> it's not working. who thinks that this system of giving people second, third, fourth chances is working? it's -- our city is not safe. >> overall crime up 26%, the committee investigating krasner plans to hold hearings later this month. to impeach him, a simple majority in the house and two-thirds majority in the senate. if the republicans stay together would require five democrats to vote with them. >> sandra: important story, thank you for telling it. john. >> john: and election issue of education, new numbers show student enrollment fell more in districts that kept their kids online longer than those that went back to the classroom sooner. state and city officials are pushing the feds for more money for the schools, on top of the $190 billion allocated and not much spent.
11:57 am
mike emanuel is here with the story. >> a lot of students have moved on from public schools, experts say the schools that stayed remote the longest and held on to the masking requirements saw big drops in california, schools lost 2.6% of the student population. chicago, about one-third of the schools are only half full. one education expert say it could have a major impact on budgets. >> if students don't come back to these districts, they are going to face fiscal challenges and going to have to lay off staff, slim down on programs, or tighten their belts in some way. >> public schools lost has been catholic schools gain in many places. parents and students searched for private options and chose to stay. >> we offered a safe in-person alternative to a public school that was often closed and so parents close us because we are open. but staying with us because they fall in love with the communities.
11:58 am
>> the national catholic education association says the biggest increases come in medium-size markets, arlington, virginia, enrollment up 9%. chicago catholic schools, numbers are also up for teacher applications. >> while there was a national teacher shortage, we had a record year recruiting teachers for catholic schools and i think it's because teachers want to work in places that have a focus on academics, on values, on safety, on community, and they have been coming to work for us. >> one education mystery is what happened to 3 million disadvantaged students who went missing from public schools in the first six months of the pandemic. it was not clear where they went. >> john: don't even know if they are still in school. >> the data is not that good, they need to figure out where the kids ended up. >> sandra: mcdonald ceo is having a difficult time to get people to come back to work in a major american city, chicago.
11:59 am
>> everywhere i am go i'm confronted by the same question these days. what's going on in chicago? there is a general sense out there that our city is in crisis. the truth is, it's more difficult today for me to convince a promising mcdonald's executive to relocate to chicago from one of the other offices than it was a few years ago. >> sandra: and you go back to a lot of other big companies that have said the same. ceo there say workers are worried about violent crime they don't want to return to the headquarters, and affecting recruiting. but says despite the rise in crime he is not leaving that city. you can look at what citadel did and ken griffin said he was having a hard time retaining top talent, attracting top talent, and boeing and other companies have said the same, at least. >> john: good on mcdonald's for not leaving in the face of the
12:00 pm
rising crime. see if they can tough it out. citadel could not do it, they went to florida. boeing left the city, so a lot of people are turning tail and running. >> sandra: and mcdonald's is having a hard time with staff in the restaurants. that does it for us. a jam-packed two hours. great to be with us. sandra smith. >> john: good to be with you, too. i'm john roberts. see you on friday.
