st. george's chapel. we just saw a clearly emotional king charles iii. it was an enormous moment as we watched them take the crown, orb and scepter of the top of the coffin of queen elizabeth. and we witnessed the lowering of the casket into the george vi vault commissioned by queen elizabeth to be the burial place of her family and lord into the area where her mother, father and sister margaret lie and her beloved prince philip, her husband of 70 plus years who died at 99 last year and it was really moving, i thought, when we heard the archbishop of canterburyy basically take the titles from the now-gone queen elizabeth the second saying almighty god has taken out of

that transitory life into his divine mercy, the most excellent monarch elizabeth the ii and went through her titles and asked for god's blessing on king charles iii and put all of those titles on him, defender of the faith, sovereign of the most noble order of the guard and ended with god save the king. just an extraordinarily moving ceremony. i'm here again with piers and ainsley. piers, your thoughts? >> how do you sum up a day like this? incredibly moving, quite extraordinarily spectacular. the very greatest example of british pomp and pageantry in remembrance and commemoration and celebration of our greatest ever monarch and soundly moving. someone who only ever had one monarch, this remarkable queen. the moments have given me

goosebumps or slightly well up because it's the end of an era, a 70-year reign. and these things happen and people say we'll never see that life again. i don't think we ever see the likes of this queen again. will anyone ever reign that long ago? who knows? but i think it was a wonderful send-off on a historic day for a magnificent, i'm very proud to be british, i've got to say. >> it is done. the monarch is buried, is with her lord and savior where she wants to be. i thank her for being a christian guide to everyone around the world, her modeling a life of service and putting her country before herself. a quote she said about living a long life. she said the years have slipped by so quickly.

there is no point in regretting the passage of time. growing older is one of the facts of life and it has its own compensations. one of the joys of living a long life is watching one's children and grandchildren. we can't be certain what lies ahead for them, but we should know enough to put them on the right path. we can do this if we have a good sense to learn from the experience of those who have gone before us. i thank her for going before us, for being a great example of grace and class and honor and duty. >> we're just watching the wales family, the prince and princess of wales and their two children, charlotte and george, lovely to watch through this and look at the hope of the future so important to the queen as the person who held the crown, the crown has now passed to charles iii and we're watching this extraordinary lineage that has gone on for

1,000 years and embody in charles, william, george and charlotte now. >> the queen is dead, god save the king. that's the where this works, that's the order of succession. i think probably if i was to sum up how the british people feel about this i would simply say thank you, your majesty, for everything she did for the country, for her people, and unbelievably dedicated seven decades of duty and service and we will always be incredibly grateful to her. thank you, your majesty. >> we just hope that her example rubs off on all of us in a little way, that service goes before self. that integrity matters, that a life of purpose and of faith that is bigger than yourself is, i think, the legacy that she would want to leave to her country, certainly, and around the world. these are extraordinarily powerful images and the emotions
