attention to this? is this going to be an issue for the midterm elections they are in your state? >> yes. i think people are deathly concerned about it. i have said this for the last year, this election is and should be about security. border security, economic security. people want to feel safe. they want to be able to send their kids are good school and not know it's going to be inundated with drugs or the kids are walking to school they're not going to be gunned down as a result of gang violence as the cartels perpetuate more and more violence into our communities. so it shouldn't matter. but at the end of the day i also think the people are worried about their economy because joe biden's america, gas prices are rising record numbers grid grocery prices are rising. when it seems like the only thing joe biden things is wrong with our border is that he cannot let more illegal people into our country. griff: will see how arizonans react to the border issue. i wanted to take a moment though and shifted gears mr. attorney

treated in the way so many others before her were. it is heartbreaking to watch. at the same time though there is a great sense of pride and all with the bravery of the protesters that i am seeing right now. i have been in protest and iran throughout the years, before i was arrested i saw people making great risk. but nothing like we have been seeing over the last week. >> i want to get your response to secretary of state antony blinken calling on iran to end its persecution of women. at the same time this administration is still trying to revive the iran nuclear deal. do you think the white house is taking the appropriate measures and actions in response to this most recent death? >> look, i think they are taken the measures that are available to them right now per they have to decide whether or not they want to continue negotiating with the regime that is willing

to kill indiscriminately the way this one has. i think it is a difficult needle to thread. at the same time we cannot have iran have a nuclear weapon. we also cannot have them practicing gender apartheid they have for the past 43 years and killing innocent protesters. it is unacceptable. at it is a situation that needs to be dealt with and we are at a point where there are no more excuses with the u.s. government 43 years has not come up with a good response. doesn't matter at the admits rations been republican or democrat with the abuse of power of the islamic government that's part far past time look i am an american citizen for the want to see america do well. i'm hoping the biden administration continues to condemn this sort of mayhem and abuse by iranian authorities. and that they become more pointed, targeted and exact and

this is got to be such a huge disappointment for nasa. not a real good pr moment for them right now. >> it is a disappointment. we are all excited to see the rocket launch, the mission be a great success. but i also think nasa is doing a wonderful job in making sure that the admission will be a success by delaying it, not risking the effects of weather on the launch. with an earlier launch delays also ensuring everything will go well. it is also something nasa has experience with. rocket launches tend to be delayed. back with the space shuttle program there are 135 admissions and 121 of those were delayed. so this is familiar territory getting to space. aishah: it is a familiar but it is quite expensive. if we can pull up each launch runs about $4 billion. this is already years late, it is way over budget. what is it costing every time it

fails to launch? >> i do not know the exact numbers, of the delays i think it's a folded into those numbers. it is a very expensive endeavor and that is part of the reason nasa is deciding to delay it as opposed to launching it when everything is not perfect. and in the long run it makes more sense to delay the mission until we know it will be a success. but i believe that's folded into those about $4 billion. aishah: teasel, what he said about private companies out there who are already in leaps and bounds of space exploration, when spacex starship perhaps comes online is quite a cost less is going to be able to do more. isn't sls a huge waste of time? >> sls has been in the planning stages for over a decade now. something we have invested in a long time ago and have been

working on. it's really exciting to see new capability coming up. and hopefully the next launch for spacex will be a success. everyone is very excited about starship as well. the more opportunities we have, the more vehicles we had to launch humans and cargo into space, the better. and i think sls is going to provide an incredible capability. a capability we have not seen in decades. it's also an exciting time for space because there is so much activity. because you have companies like spacex also developing heavy lift rockets. aishah: i guess my question then is this is hugely important because this is the first step in getting a man to mars. i get that aspect of it. i guess sell it to us for folks out there that are watching this now delayed one more time. they know that it is overbudget. it is already so many years l

late. is this really going to be worth the cost and worth the wait? >> it is hard question. this allowed debate on both sides. one thing that is exciting about the artemis program is it has been a priority for multiple presidential administrations. just not always something see in space exploration for this was a program that was started under it the trump administration and container of the biden administration produce nice to see that continuity that allows us to do much more in space when we have a continued support. but, to put the cost of the program into context and what else, the united states invests in our other priorities. and nasa's total budget is about half a% of the federal budget. it is not nearly as significant as it was back in the 1960s we were sending humans to the moans with the apollo program.
