it. president joe biden canceled an appearance in florida this week ahead of the storm. >> brian: we have been buying that for the last two years anyway. we have fox team coverage senior meteorologist janice dean tracking ian we start with nicole valdez in tampa. nicole? >> good morning. we just learned nearly every county in the state of florida is now under a state of emergency that includes not only hillsborough county but the city of tampa, specifically. where i'm standing is actually bayshore boulevard. this is an area notorious for flooding. especially when many of these storms make it to shore here. storm teenage mutant ninja turtle absolutely top of mind here for many who live in the tampa bay area. you will see the signs that people are taking this seriously. as you look at just the line of cars that go on for miles. this is the scene just yesterday all across tampa bay, what was a beautiful weekend turned into really getting down to work for many who know how seriously they need to be taking now hurricane

ian. lining up for the 10 free sandbags that people have been able to get not only in hills wore row, county but talking all over the tampa bay pin necessary also a county, clearwater. really top of mind here, again, as we focus in on the next several hours which will be crucial to learn just where hurricane ian may make landfall on the gulf coast of florida. we spoke to people who told us they waited more than three hours in line for those sandbags. of course, you know that there are so many other supplies people are going to need to stock up for the next several days. water, of course plywood getting the hurricane shutters on. it's what we are going to be likely seeing here over the next 72 to 48 hours, guys. >> steve: indeed. it is headed for tampa bay. thank you very much. meanwhile senior meteorologist janice dean is tracking ian's path as it gains intensity in the gulf. janice, it looks like the people in the east coast of florida are going to have a lot of rain but it's heading for the west. >> the west coast.

but the whole state of florida needs to be prepared for the storm system. it's going to be large one, even though we typically focus on the landfall, this is going to impact the whole state of florida. so we have a hurricane right now. it was named a hurricane in the 5:00 a.m. hour. we are going to be seeing rapid intensification over the next 24 to 48 hours as it crosses over the western portion of cuba. we have hurricane hunters on the scene right now. they are giving us the very latest information which will be brought into all of the forecast data that we bring to you over the next several hours, over the next few days to keep people safe. but the bottom line here is we have a hurricane watch now for the tampa area and also tropical watches for parts of the west coast of florida. key west you are under tropical storm warning. we are going to start to feel those effects in the next several hours. and then as we go through time, pay attention to wednesday and thursday. things get a little uncertain.

so that's why i need people along the big bend of florida and the panhandle to pay attention. sometimes these forecasts can move a little more to the west. the about the line is we will have major hurricane on the doorstep of the west coast of florida in the next several days. people need to be completing their plans. we have hurricane watches now in effect. this is going to be a big deal not only heavy rainfall, the storm surge will be upwards in some areas of over 9 feet over vulnerable coast line. this is going to be the biggest story we will be following over the next few days for the state of florida. of course they know how to deal with ukraine hads, but this one will be the first one of the season so people need to be completing their plans today. over to you. >> steve: indeed. all right. thank you, j.d. >> ainsley: all talking about how busy the grocery stores are. you can't find a lot of things now. people are taking all the water, buying the water just preparing for this. >> steve: got to be safe.

this was an abc-"the washington post" poll and. >> brian: they didn't want to talk about this on abc. >> ainsley: they sample over 1,000 people. it it's interesting that crime has is you are passed abortion. they trust republicans more than democrats. >> brian: i wonder why how could that be? >> ainsley: that's a 14 point advantage that republicans have because 52 percent said they trust the republican party 38 percent said they trust the democrats whether it comes to crime. >> steve: right with registered voters, it's even more. we are going to talk with a little bit about jen psaki what she said yesterday on one of the i think it was meet the press where she said if the midterms are a -- if the midterms are referendum on joe biden, the democrats are doomed. so they will lose. but, what was interesting is she said when you look at each state. state why state. inflation impacts everybody. but, when you look at a state

like pennsylvania, said that crime is very impactful regarding the senate race with mr. fetterman and mr. oz. so how big ultimately at the end of the day will crime be? probably pretty big. in the meantime, take a look. the cover of the the "new york " today, there is a guy right there by the name of pedro hernandez and what a story he has got. holy hell is the headline because just outside of saint patrick's cathedral on august 28th on, let's see, fifth avenue. he apparently got involved in a three card monty game. >> brian: every time i go to that game were sealed. the guys running it were hustlers. >> brian: glad they didn't let me in. >> steve: he lost his gold chain and cash. got into red mercedes. he i will pulls out a gun in front of saint patrick's cathedral and starts shooting inside the car. they were not hurt. they drove off to the palace

hotel parking lot. he gave chase in his black bmw. they dropped the money. they dropped the chain. he grabbed it. but they all got arrested. >> ainsley: one of the guys dropped the cash and chain. he stopped and picked it up and he fled. the two member in the mercedes, they were taken into custody on unrelated open warrants. and then the cops are now pursuing hernandez on a warranted for the shooting. he has three open gun cases, all in 2019. >> steve: that's the important part. why was he on the streets? because they say, ainsley, that if you have a gun violation, they are going to put you in jail. >> ainsley: that's what they say. >> steve: he has three. why was he out? >> ainsley: the busts among 15 arrests that he had on record at that time. so, he is facing -- he was the face. he is the darling of the rebail reform law. advocates for bailing him out of yale jail. he spent a year in rikers and bailed him out during all of the hoopla about bail reform.

you the poll numbers. everybody feels inflation. so ralph bostic is the president of the atlanta federal reserve. and there are 12 federal reserve banks across america that monitor essentially how much we spend and stuff like that. you know, given the fact that they jacked up interest rates on all of us by 75 bases points, three quarters of a point last week. >> brian: for our own good. steve: that's what they say. he says that while inflation right now is at 8.3%. the target of 2%, getting that down to 2% are still a possibility. he said there could be some pain. people may lose their jobs. because a soft landing would be kind of tough to do. >> ainsley: how long does it take you to get down to 2% from 8.3%. they are going to have to continue to increase interest rates. >> steve: absolutely. they need to increase it a lot. >> brian: the problem is the formula we used in the 1980s to beat it we are not subscribing to because we are not cutting spending.

your kind turn himself. in this is a disturbing incident by the fbi. kind of interesting you said that peter navarro said call me i'm run block away. that's the same thing we heard with roger stone. i was right here you didn't need to wake me up in the middle of night and scare my wife and then all of a sudden this happens. it's designed to, i guess, induce some degree of trauma. i can't wait to find out what the real deal is hopefully there will be video somewhere. here is what the fbi said. there are inaccurate claims being made regarding the arrest of mark hawk. no swat team or swat operators were involved. agents knocked on the door and identified themselves as fbi agents and asked him to exit the residence. he did so and taken into custody and did so without indictment. i went back to get him a sweatshirt and rosary beads. asked for a sweatshirt. i couldn't get it to them. they only saw the first page of the warrant hustled him out pointing guns to him said

tangentially to the other members of his family. regardless of how this comes out there. was an elderly pro-life volunteer in his 80's. he was shot in michigan after a heated conversation with a group. where was that -- where was that same type of answer when it comes to law enforcement showing themselves? >> you know, there has been an uptick in violence against pro-life clinics offering pregnancy advice. they have been the subject of arson attacks. the media pays no attention to it. but it's not at all surprising given the ugly rhetoric that we have seen from politicians in washington. and it's not just chuck schumer and liz warren issuing veiled threats outside the united states supreme court. you have got senator mazie hirono and representative tim ryan who are saying call to arms

against pro-life movement we need to kill and confront pro-lifers. is it any wonder then that we are seeing, you know, this kind of violence and it comes from the top and you have got president biden who says republicans are a clear and present danger to democracy. they are fascist or semi fascist, whatever the hell that means. you have got hillary clinton comparing trump supporters to nazis. i mean, this kind of incendiary rhetoric will inevitably result in acts of violence. and you know, once again, that's the sort of thing that has to stop. what disturbs me is the fbi and the doj, you know, have weaponized their immense power and there's now a legal litmus test if you check the box democrat, you get a free pass. if you check the box republican, the fbi will come after you.

asking for money from the federal government to construct these tent cities. rachel campos-duffy went up to the bronx to that burrow to hear from those people about the new neighbors want and she's joins us now. >> good morning, ainsley. i wanted to see what the people in the bronx thought about this idea. here's what happened. >> >> so about 1,000 migrants are going to be put up in orchard beach about 10 minutes from here. did you know that? >> no. i did not know that. >> how do you feel about it. >> i'm not too thrilled about it. >> tell me why. >> i think they should find a proper place for them. not here. >> in my opinion, i just don't think that new york city really has the space to house anybody else. i think we are just overpopulated at this point. >> i'm not very happy with that i bring my grandkids here. i have been coming here winter, summer, spring and fall. and it's a beautiful park. and i think it's going to make a

big difference in this park now. >> rachel: how do you feel about the tent city being set up here at orchard beach. >> i have no issues with it. >> this country was created on immigrants. and i think we had ellis island. we got statue of liberty. give us your hungry, give us your despair. i think it's a good thing. >> i think that now they are here, you are in a position to help, that's your job, right, to help? >> we're an asylum city. we are angst area city and do as much as we can to maintain our status. >> as a christian my heart goes out to all of those who are suffering and all those who are in need. but i feel like at some point either we all come together as one and say we are going to do it this way. i think we really need to focus on the needs that we have here superficially in the bronx. >> some people have said why haven't they offered this kind of housing to u.s. citizens who are homeless or veterans? >> there is a lot of homeless people here in the united states

around this area as well. >> should they be prioritized over people who didn't come here illegally and not citizens? should citizens be prioritized? >> yeah. they should. that's not fair. >> in my opinion, i think it should go to the u.s. citizens first. we have a big homeless problem in new york city as well. >> i think we should prioritize our homeless military first, then our citizens. because we are here. we pay taxes. >> so there has been no community meetings that you know about. >> none that i have known, about absolutely not. >> you are the kind of person that would hear about that. >> i'm a person who would hear about that. i'm pattern who attend them. >> do you know who alexandria ocasio-cortez is. >> i do not. >> alexandria ocasio-cortez is the congresswoman of this area. have you heard anything about how she feels about this spot being chosen? >> i don't. i actually haven't seen her in a while. i would see her a lot in my kid's school, in the neighborhood at the park. and i have not seen her. i was actually thinking where is she? >> rachel: she wanted these policies and now they are coming

to her district. how do you feel about that. >> we are paying for as it usual. i don't think they're living next to her house or in her park. >> what's your message to her. >> think about what you are planning before you just slam one together. >> ainsley: good job, rachel. >> rachel: thank you, ainsley. so a couple takeaways, one, no grassroots community involvement in this decision this was made top level. sos that very interesting. i will tell you something else that was fascinating, how many people would not talk to me on camera. because they said they were afraid of the repercussions of being against the tent and what their neighbors and co-workers would say about them would call them racist if they opposed. this i thought that was interesting. because we talked so much, ainsley, about how conservatives are self-censors how they feel if they support trump or pro-life they will get blow back. guess what? the freedom to speak -- people in liberal communities feel

that, too. i ran into a russian man who said this country is not free. if i talk to you on camera, my children will suffer in school from that. so, i thought that was fascinating as well. i would say in ventricle, most were against the idea. but, mostly were upset that it wasn't run by anyone in the community. it was a top down decision. >> ainsley: sounded like you only interviewed a few that were supportive of this. the majority were not. they brought up some excellent points, let's prioritize our military who don't have a place to live. the people who are paying taxes. let's prioritize them first. >> yeah. and the bronx is a poor area. and you see, you know, when you get a place like martha's vineyard that's wealthy and privileged, they quickly were able to get them out of their space. these people understand that this tent city is probably going to be there for a while. >> ainsley: we never heard anything from them until the immigrants started coming to their cities and now many concerns. i know that second tent city the location has not yet been
