10:00 pm
it just always feels so big. this is one of the best rivalries in the game. how much pressure is there on dallas and dallas every year? we're talking about zeke elliott, city land like a parsons. they have the pieces. there's a lot on the line for both these teams. that was incredible. the nfl sunday on the box, photobooks super bowl.s my worl. fifty seven .is a f this is oxa fox news alert. search and rescue operations are underway at this hour throughout the state ofrt o florida. hurricane in, as you know, fstera struck the southwestern part ofe the state yesterday as a category four storm and causedca catastrophictast roughly damage. roughly three millionav floridians no longer have power . many of them don't haved. communications. entire communities were flattened. there' tht as of s no official count as ofs right now, but it is clear this could be the deadliest storm in florida's history. x'let's go now to fox's
10:01 pm
steve harrigan, who is in placita, florida. statcharley, counting the southwestern part of the state. a >> so, claudia, whatre are youn? doing now? i'm i'm getting importantmy stuff, my paperwork, my husband's personal things. >> ernie, because i lost. and two months ago and now i'vel lost my only home, picking ity . up and taking it to my car. you're packing it up in a garbage can? yeah. have you gotten any help yet? no. gotten any i t that's okay. i'm strong.t it, ge i can get it. i can get the important things i thought. r >> i bless you. thank you. all right.l be you. a all right. you'll be all right. yeah.at so's claudia wha says she's str and that's what people aren relying on , at least in these first early hours here. their owsomeking un strength. some people have been asking us for water, food, and of course tough, communication is s
10:02 pm
tough thing as well with all hee cell phones down right now, really, it's neighbor helping each other here until help frome more than thirty five states does arrive. tuckern 35, back to you. >> are steve harrigan in pursuit of florida? e that we're going to assess the path of the storm and the damage that it's wrought with hurricane expert brian norcross, who joins us now for the third nightoss w >> brian , good to see you. tell us the status of the storm now. . tell us the storm streell, the storm is gathering strength again. rainstor this is going to be a big rainl. storm and a flood event for south carolina, then on up into the piedmont in the mountains via and virginia . so there's much more of this storm to come. e floo phases three and four, sdwo to speak, as the flood waters are just going down in north florida. so that's phase two. and then we get down toe bigg the original disaster and the biggesest part of this disaster, which is in southwest florida, this was the storm at landfall.t and what happens with storms
10:03 pm
is it depends on both the strength of the storm and the direction of the wind on who gets the tremendous storm surge, which, of course, does all that damage at the the coast. so when we look at this map, o the white areas here, those areh the winds of over 100 miles an hour. and then the yellow area out here is winds from 60 to 100 miles per hour. so what we see that's the windnd speeds and then we see the wind direction. and if you notice the wind direction, at landfall at three o'clock in the afternoon, that was right into the naples f area. >> sloodino the flooding in naps came first becauseg th they happened to have w the direction of those strong winds were pushing the gulf wate r into downtown. now, looking close up here,, here's fort myers. >> it's actually well up the caloosahatchee river. and so jus t beginning to push water up the caloosahatchee. well, when the center of the storm over here went up that way, that changed the orientation of the winds
10:04 pm
and that pushed more water up the caloosahatchee and the water there couldn't get out. and then more came and more came and more came. so it took longer to flood inhe. fort myers. looking farther south, dow nr here, you can see that thoseo 100 mile an hour winds were pushing water into fort myersd h beach all the way over why t the barrier island there. lon and that's why that placeg time is just devastated. it's going to take a long timetn before that's actually a workable community. again, here on sanibel, you get water from a bunch ofe sani different directions. and this is where wherbee the sanibel causeway here waslo knocked out.t so there'sgoin here. just a lotg on here. and then just to the northor,th gasparilla got water coming the other way. all the areas aroundareas ar th, tucker, took this ultra hard thi hit from this category fours hurricane norcross, thanks sow e much. feature you a fire in the picture fromeh sanibel there. of course, that's a feature always of storms like this. you fires break ou havt in some of the damage.
10:05 pm
so the pictures you have seen f is from burning, not fromall flooding. interesting. we're going do more reporting all nigh ni the stat from the state of florida, including on this show. but first, a sten sop back .t af so when something this awfulthei happens, something that affects ves ofthe lives of millions of your fellow americans, decent people step back for a moment.nr it's a moment that demands s reverence and silence to what we've just seen suf and then the practical questions people are suffering. >> how are they suffering? ey dt >> they don't have power. they don't have communications. how many homes were destroyens. you ask questions like that and and you try to assess what this means in the humanhu cost of its the one thing you don't do is immediately jump forward to score some sort of cheap and sleazy political point from that. used tclit'so be obvious. bu nt foo lor the past several h it's been clear it's no longercn obvious, at least to one political party. you saw thisago. happen after the forest fires in california two years ago. it happened after tornadoest it's happening killed people in midwest last year. and it's happening again now.on, on the immediately on cable television and on the floor oe fde
10:06 pm
the legislative bodies across this country. self-described experts are demandin accep forg you acceptt responsibility for whatever natural disaster has just occurred. it'sed. your faul your fault, ir hurricane ian . you did thisbecaus because you s support giving joe biden trillions of dollars to figh tt climate change.watch. t watchou caused i now with clima it used to be one or two c a season. what happened now with climate changehange, and extreme warm wl it's almost you know, it'sl happening all the time. this the warm in a way, is kind of bad news for the people that are still trying to denyepublica climate change as a factor. a >> florida republicans denys wil climate change as a monster storm barrels towards the coast . this will be a first time test for how you adapt to theser new , stronger storms on a on a warmer planet as a result of climate change. >> the threat exacerbated, of coursef >>, by climate change. p on charleston, like miami, gets water that comes on a good sunny day. that's climate change because water levels are risin irmerg, n
10:07 pm
our earth is getting warmer. and there is just nok, tha doub, i think, left it is feeding these beasts. imagine taking a science lecture from someone as stupid as stephanie rule or ali velshi. so on that level, it'ss ridiculs ridiculous. >> and it's alsoun, as wseeme jn suggested, unseemly are and antihuman. >> of course, people are dyinge . putting so wait just a momenforwt beforr putting forward your demands for more political power, but it's also factually untrue. so you just heard one herot sayd it used to be one or two one hurricanes this season, one happening now. it'sr ha happening all the timee and you hear this all the time pod it's a way of terrifying you into handing politicians more power over your life. but the fact is , it's a lie.e. it's not even remotely true. i mean, it's not a close call. there has been, as a factual matter, no increase in hurricane frequency in0 to the continental united states from nineteen hundred to020. hah twenty . that's one hundred and twenty years it's been recorded.
10:08 pm
we havtaey're one a data there b screen right now, in fact, is michael shellenberger has pointelookedd out it was actually looked at the numbers, the number of landfallinanes hag hurricanes has dropped slightly over the past century. wh we'ry? we're not sure, but we cane probably guess. there's nothing to do with climate or your suv. o know we did know that in that same period, deaths of human beings from natural disasters such as hurricanes have dropped a lot by about 90%. respo and the deatndh toll is forecast to drop even more as people respond to the changing environment. so people do. government scientists at the noaa and even becoprofessional alarmists, the ipcc, predict that5% hurricanes will become 25% less frequent throughout the twenty first century. e th >> oh, and that makes sensecane because the current atlantic hurricane season is the slowest one in a quarter century. so none of that is to downplay or minimize in any waywhat it' the savagery of hurricane ian or the sadness of what it's done to your fellow americans. it'sit's horrible, but it doese
10:09 pm
raise the question how exactly are you responsible for it?y well, of course, you're not in r any sense. you're not liable for that. you didn't do that. you're a normal person., you're grieving for the peoplenc who are just killed. you're not trying to score political points on their dea deaths. >> but don lemon steps into the breach, the breach betweenan noct and rhetoric with a brand new theory. donelon claims that storms may not have become more frequenve but they definitely become more , quote, intense. >> watch the w the science show listscience shows. it's undeniable what is happening. but listen a, let's talk abouto the storm surge. really, what i wasain, it' tryio explain, this is justs, a phenomenon of the intensifying storms over the years. ying to atwhat it is not tryingg that one that one particular storm , we could gauge something. but listen, you get an idea. you've been doing this for while. busin i've beeesn covering these for, yearknow, since i've been in the business for 20 years. i'velived in the gulf coast. stu see the intensity of the storms increasing. >> and that's the sciencer: ha-
10:10 pm
definitely shows thahat the intensity of the storms has increased. and notice how , like tv i presenters, the claim has ever. proven, they ever show you how it's true. they just assert it. they become more intense.w that how does anyone know thaty because of a longitudinal study he's done? well, yeah, in a wayid, he liver in the gulf coast. he knows the storms are getting more tense because he's been in this business a long time. >> well, is that true?u hear it constantly, an there's a it's worth assessing it sinceng you hear it constantly.. and there's a political reasone or telling you that, is it true? are the storms getting more intense? and ifh mo so, how muchthis more intense are they getting? what ww she did, our level bestl this is a news show to get to the bottom of that, according to the latest models fro them n, the worst case scenario is that hurricanes get five percent're 2 stronger this century. we're twenty two years int yo the century. >> seventy eight years to go .%e so hurricanes are 25% less common and at most 5%as sci more intense. >> do the mathen. well, as scientist roger talkee
10:11 pm
put a quote, even under the most extreme scenarios of climate change, futuristxtreme masters will look a lot like today's. so it's not really about science, is it? because actually there's noe science behind these claims.hing no, it's what everything is in this intensely politicized country. it's another opportunityr opporo punish people who don'tt vote the right way to call them into submission. to seize the moral high ground, to punish your opponents. e that's why even as bodies areeni still being identifieded, and apparently many have not been in the streets of florida, the view which apparently stillg on the air mocks the people of florida for daring to ask. disaster relief money from the federal government. >> watch this. governor just santurce says it's all hands on deck to prepare for what's coming, and that includes reaching across the aisle for help.? isn't it socialism when the government helps youaughter] and they say like social security and medicare, that gote
10:12 pm
a comment. yeah. and the police and i. , >> socialism. oh, so clever. what an incisive point. t this show is totally opposed too censorship or platforming orne o pulling anyone off the air. we're surely not calling for that in the case of the view. but this is an objective matter when that show finally does die, well-deserved death and isl gone and forgotten, this will be a slightly better country. that's just true. .so consider what you just saw.t a hurricane devastates florida,i kills americans, and theon reaction o of the on the view is to laugh at them, to mockiley the people who are suffering.m and while they're doing this, they claim it's really comingss from a placeion. of compassion.e they're laughing at peopleu. who are dying because they are>> better than you. >> see how that works. here's joy reid. it's a bit ironic now that you might have floridians having to actually pour over the borders and go north and get oute ofllin the state of florida in the exact same crisis that we've been talking about. longon a trolling level in thato state for a long time.e to and be careful about attackingto
10:13 pm
people who have to move to saven their own lives and safetyow, because you never know when it's your people that have to move, when it's your peopls youe who have to migrate, when it's your people who have to get on that road. >>ve t so we throw on a lot ofaf cable news clips on the air. o and on one level, it's like,t who cares? with the dummies on cable if yvision, say. but it's kind of a window intotr our broader political debate. if you winyd up in a countryt ec where no one can think clearly when the most educated harvardll graduates like joyt read literally can't think ithin a logical, linear way, they're incapable of rational thought. then over time, your wholet. country becomes incapable of rational thought. peopof thepeople just fall out f the habit of thinking like adults towar and we're moving td there. so these are the very same people, by the way, who cheered as illegal aliens they removed by force from martha's vineyard and sent to a military base. they called them trash trash. h they took them out withinmy 48 hours with the army. but other lecturing you about compassion as they gloat overmpi a deadly hurricaneon, it's time
10:14 pm
to stop taking them seriously. of course, they're notto compassionate. le they don't care about other people. what they care aboute is advancing the politicalif you power of the party they belongef to. and if you need more evidenceed that we read , we're on to h explain that the hurricane, the one we just saw, is not a moment to stop and reflectt on on the fragility of life. now, it's another reason to kee keep our border open. >> watch. the reality is that humans we're literally running from the what? the climate, from climatepening change that we're pretending, we isn't happening, but we're physically'reing mov being moved the earth because of it. it will actually be the single biggest cause of migration. we typically think of migration being caused by conflict and wars and things like that. y coin syria. it triggered it in ukraine.ukra. that's not going to be what it is . it's actually going to be migration because people can't move, generally speaking, prosperous people can moven th first because they can afford to. but eventually, when the grain stops growinn g, the fields keeppoor peo flooding. the poor people move to
10:15 pm
and we're going to have to comee to terms with the fact that majr that's going to be the major cause of migration around the world and here in america. >> as people go home at night and look in the mirror, oh, succher day of successfully pretending not to be stupid, another day of foolingd tendin o viewers going thinking we know we're talking about, but nobody's fooled. anyone knowsking anything, anyoo knows any common sense at all or just the powers of observation that most adults have would know what they'redicu saying is ridiculous. ian waand wasn't the first hurre in florida against hurricanes every year . and more americans have movedo r to florida in the past twoth years than any other statean an so actually , climate is not foi forcing people out of florida. they're somehow moving er toctly one of our hottest states . how does that work exactly n?evr they never answer. t and so they tell you the solution to climate change to keeborderp our southern bordr open. martha's vineyard still off limits, of course, because that's where their donors live. what's so interesting, eve vinn they make the case that the united states deserves to keep its borders open. we deserve the punishmen
10:16 pm
t we liv receive from mass migration because we cause climate change. that'se. i the argument they're making. this is atonement for our climate. since these same peoplt for clim change.e never tell china to open its borders, even though china is by far the burgest carbon emitter and the largest polluter in conventional terms in the world. but no one's ever in china's face about being an ethno state racist, not letting non han chinese into the country, which they don't. they have no moral obligationat to let burkina fasioo move to beijing.g. why is that exactly? in fact, leaders ofe mo the democratic party defending china, they defend china. the same people who tell you climate change is the most importanmatet issue in the worl. china, of course, the main driver of climate change by their definition, carbon emissions. those same people tell you thatr chineaa is doing a great job. we and we're sitting here's our climate czar, our the cadaverous john kerry. my question to you is , what can be done about china?
10:17 pm
their seeming reluctance to participate in affairs of aff climate control that otherange l nationiks? gl well, china, china, weterestingly enough, china has a plan. they put a plan innk t place.he we think they could be doing more . but but china is going to be building more electric t vehicles will be put on the road over the next yeartr or so in china than in all the rest of the world put together. they are deploying renewable they rate that exceeds all other nations. they are the largestfactur manufacturerer of renewables in the world. and so china is moving. so john kerry, who really is cadaverous, that that felt mean to say that. but actually look at the tape and it's pretty accurate, john . kerry is basically doing an infomercial for the communist party of china is the climate czar. this is the country that's built more koplow plants ine czr the past five years than any

place in the world, by far 10x . >> and he's not only sniffing there throne, he's defendingha-- them on climate grounds.ha >> it's not subtle. they're not even trying. they don't care about climate change. they definitely don't carechang. about natural disasters. they just want power.. and that's why they to the most powerful guy in x the room. >> and that would be gei. chairman, ge. yeah, it's unbelievable. how deep is their insincerity,je will ? last year during hurricane toason, joe biden leverage these natural disasters as a way to sels l his vaccines. >> watch this. god forbid the natural disaster strikes. agaiave to make sure we'rereto b ready to be protected against covid-19 as well. let me be clear. n if you're in a state where hurricanes often strikwhere huee florida or the gulf coast or a into texas, a vital part of get preparing for hurricane season is to get vaccinated.
10:19 pm
>> now, sure, the lesson ofs to hurricanes and tornadoes and tidal waves and earthquakes is to get the vaccine. >> can we just have a natural v disaster that we acceptn't we as natural h? ral? that's what they're calledthat's natural disasters, because we didn't cause the they'm. oductso they are products of nature.. god's in charge. we're not we're not god .we're but you really have to think you're not god in order to t admit that they think they are god . they think they're in charge ocf the weather. eopl and that's why they just can't give it a break. they just can't le be obt people and their deaths be observed for what they are, which is apor tragedy that demands reverence, not posturing, none otherine stupidof political speech. >> but they can't control themselves ever again. itontrols owens is a keen obserf all of this. she hosts a great podcast. she joins tonight with reactione . canciones, i would love toon set someone die in this country without getting a lecture posthumously. oh, you died of smokin.g. you died because you didn'tthat get the facts. you died because you drive an suv. can't we just acknowledgv.e dead is a sad thingea?a give it the reverence ite
10:20 pm
>> notes and move on ? well, not if you're a member of the democratic party, because they're utter sociopaths and psychopaths. and when they see thes party, be place, by the way, this is theis same methodology that takes place with school shootings. you would think thatplac we couh more than we can. but they say, wait s a second,co there are some children that are dead. so allow us to get in front ofe cameras and tell you why you need to give us more power back . if they think about their own power, consuming more powerwhen when tragedy strikes is , as ir, said, an example of auto, thatst they are utter psychopaths. and what's going on wh,at's g obviously, is an extreme tragedy. but as you pointed out, tuckerl, it is a natural tragedy. if t the earth has hurricanes.e face if there o was no human beings that walked the face of the planet, there would continue to be hurricanes like they would continue to be blizzards and like they will continue to be tornadoes.by t therhae is no lobby, inlaughe my opinion. that should be laughedarde atben harder than the climate lobby because they just keep being proven wrong. now, was when i was a kid, i wae told it was global warming.r ber hide under your desk, kidss . dn the polar bears are going to drown because there's global warming. but they stopped using that languagesing that around 2011 e

accidentally the earth started to coodentallyl and disprovednar their narrative before my generation. by the way, tucker, therativbefa generation that was told global cooling was going to spellglobal woe end of the world, except what happened was they were and wrong and the earth started to warm there. yeahthe eartted to, there was t layer. remember the ozone layer, the hole in the ozone layer. oops, that actually wasn'tacid a tragedy.ic o and so they moved on .ce there waan.tos the acidic ocean. there's going to be acidic rain because the oceans were acid. . oops, that didn't happen. so they moved on . they've been wrong over and over and over again. they're climate models are a complete fraud.ng over and ovr again. yet they look in and yet they're still allowed to look you in the face when a a natural disaster strikes mer e to tell you. itll, you know, i know we've been wrong forever and we've never once gotten it right. t give mbut give us your money . these people are sick. that. well, i completely agree y with that. and in general, people's kooky theories don't bother me. you can be a flatterer or circumcision activist where you give me whatever you want to be . but if you try to take overr you ower grid on the basis of your ridiculous theories, then i think we have a right to fig fight back . no, we absolutely have a right
10:22 pm
to fight back . and where we need toe startsystm is in the education system. because my mind wa s polluted about climate change or about global warming, rather, because they sat us down in health mad class and they made us watch inconvenient truth by al gore. that was a lie. it never came to fruition. and they keep focusing on these young generations to sell them fear for their own power. >> you're totally, man, no one can sum it up more crisply than you once. thank you. thank you. to live for their own power. so back to reality. r ealityphysical reality. the earth hurricane in still tha moving, moving northeast after leaving a swath of destruction across the state of florida. fort myers, florida, one ofhards the hardest hit placest- i've g to report live from there straight ahead. righnodet now, you're seeing vio from storm chaser brandon ivi. he's in port charlotte right his here. we'll see where we were before. we've go foot a lotayot of his e to show you tonight. >> we'll be right back .
