your day. a little rainy here in the northeast. we hope wherever you are it's going to be a good day. they continue down in florida, the recovery efforts are ongoing as the death toll from the monster storm continues to rise. >> ainsley: residents in one of the many hard hit areas imarg the devastation to a war zone. >> brian: alexandria hoff on the ground fort myers beach with the latest. alexandria. >> i wouldn't dispute that war zone comparison one bit. recovery efforts have been ongoing 24 hours and have been quite impressive. right now still about 440,000 floridians without power. that is down from 2.6 million. it is still estimated that in some of the hardest hit areas like where we are right now that power could not come back for weeks, perhaps even months. now, as those numbers go down in terms of power outages, ian's death toll is sadly rising. the a.p. reporting 78 death. 71 here in florida. survival plagued by trauma.

resident cheryl wise told the news press, quote: it's just the most horrible thing in the whole world really. it's like a war zone. i couldn't believe any of it. there is no possible way in the whole world i could recover. everything i worked for my whole life is gone. from the air a statement like that is best understood. yesterday we got an exclusive look at the wreckage on sanibel island completely disseminated by hurricane ian. only bridge in and out washed away. woe accompanied the florida national guard black hawk helicopter. continue dropoffs of heavy machinery and supplies on pine island also inaccessible by car. >> the bridges are completely washed out. the only way to get there is by air. helicopter, or by boat. so we have been moving pallets upon pallets of food and water. you can see the semi-trucks continuing to bring supplies. we are moving them over as fast as we can. we are here to support however long as needed. >> meanwhile, four people are arrested by the lee county sheriff's office for allegedly

looting through the damage caused by hurricane ian. they face charges including burglary and grand larceny. all four released after posting $35,000 bond. and governor desantis warned against looting last week. he also said in terms of pine island that a temp russia bridge is being installed there to get people on and off the island. president biden will be meeting with the governor when he he comes here tomorrow. >> steve: quick question for you i know you are in front of a big boat behind you. there are boats like that throughout your region the ground where they should not be what are they going to do with them? are they going to get a big displean are they going to saw them up? i mean, most of them are not sea worthy anymore. have. >> going to bring in a creab. felt his boat was salvageable. wanted it do repairs to it.

"new york post" looked into his claim and 50 years ago when joe biden launched his political career only 2,000 people of puerto rican ancestry lived in the state of delaware. joe did not mention any links to puerto ricans in delaware in his 2007 memoir. so it's just one of those head-scratchers like he has told so many stories that have been debunked like the story about the amtrak be conductor which is chronologically impossible. he has told that at least 8 times. he said he went to the tree of life after the synagogue shooting. the synagogue people said he was never here. he said to the people of historically black cleanings he was arrested several times for civil rights there is no evidence of that. this is the first time we have ever heard that story. >> ainsley: yeah. probably sounds like it's been debunked and it's just another bizarre comment. he keeps saying these bizarre

make transportation energy less affordable. >> ainsley: today $6.41. >> steve: california in some stations went up $1 in the last few weeks. now, in the great lakes area where we don't include that some up 50-cent per gallon in the last couple of weeks. the reason california in particularly, l.a. county set a new record yesterday with $6.46 a gallon. the reason for it is once again is supply and demand. three refineries unexpectedly are down for maintenance. they were not counting on that. because of the onerous restrictions on petroleum products in california, you can't ship it in from another state because it doesn't work. it's got to be refined a certain way. that's why california, look, they brought it on themselves. they have got these rules that restrict the kind of gasoline and the fact that they have got three refineries down payment. that's why suddenly everybody is looking to opec plus which is going to have a meeting

tomorrow. it sounds like they are considering cutting production by 2 million barrels a day, which is going to jack up the prices even more. >> ainsley: joe biden has continued to dip into our federal reserve because he wants to cool down these prices. he knows the election is coming up. he has already dipped in five times since last november. so, the elections are in november. and this is a big issue. for every american, it is for republicans, republicans are going to use this. but every family across the country, the economy and inflation are two of the top issues of why people are going to go to the polls. this will not be good for the election for democrats. >> brian: they are going to start pulling out gas prices are coming down out of his copy and prompter. next one extended war by vladimir putin in ukraine has jacked up prices here at home. >> ainsley: national average is 3.80. when it comes to his approval ratings, the monmouth poll, 30% approval rating for innerflation

and so was it really the flood or was it complaints from people in the bronx that said look, this is already a very low income neighborhood. it's already a lot of crime. please put it over there not in my backyard. so randal island is where they have men's shelter and other government facility. tent city. >> ainsley: a lot of these networks were not reporting what happened down on the border. this actually forced them to do it. saw these buses and planes. griff jenkins spent a lot on the border and down in mexico. this is his latest tweet. warning, graphic images. border patrol agents save a migrant's life after crossing into del rio sector with 7 stab wounds including a cut to his throat. not a child. look at these pictures. that is what is happening on the border. a cut to his throat and told agents he suffered on the mexican side. >> there is a tweet from the

'politico west wing playbook had a story that started this way. it started there is a tall fox news reporter in his mid 30's with slicked back hair and getting air combative indignation getting under the skin of some people in joe biden's administration and he is not peter doocy. they were talking about bill melugin, or go-to guy at the border. and apparently current white house administration officials expressed to playbook frustration in his on air coverage. said there is an alarmist quality to it. he was on last night with bret

baier who asked him about it. here is what mr. melugin had to say. >> i thought it was a little bizarre. i mean, they say our coverage is alarmist. what's happening at that border is alarming. we see it every day. we have seen it everyday for a year and a half. we'll can't even show on tv some of the things we see down there, the corpses. the little children who are sexually assaulted. it's something you have to physically go and see yourself to really get the scope of what is happening down there. i didn't truly understand it until i went down there physically and started covering it half of each month for the last 16 months. it appears they are not too thrilled that we invest in drones and we can see a lot of stuff from the air. that we have got these night vision thermal drones. we will continue covering that border and doing a great job and we have great teams down there and they can write whatever they want. it's all right. >> brian: the facts tell the story, also, by the way, bill melugin has been saying the only time the press showed up was when the bridge story. the other time the press showed up is when they thought they had a race story when border patrol was on horses trying to get

together with the number of haitians coming across the border. that ended up being there is no there there. so that kind of just went away. the president of the united states has been compromised, going to henry cuellar left wing groups infiltrated the white house. going on their agenda. when jim jordan comes out and says mayorkas should be impeached he should quit because he has no power. because the president will not give him power to enforce the border. as tom homan told us rerepeatedly he knows how to do it but not being allowed to do it. lying under oath saying the border is secure. bill melugin said you call this secure in one of his treats had images of thousands. people coming across. >> steve: bill melugin was face to face with mr. mayorkas homeland security asked him a couple of questions he said no. then again, what would you say if you were him? it is 6:26 here now in the east.

3-year-old boy shot and killed this weekend in the windowy city. the young boy was in the back seat when his mom got into a confrontation with another driver, when she tried to drive away, somebody in the other car opened fire and killed him. with 258 minors shot in chicago just this year. many including our next guest say enough is enough. pastor corey brooks is the ceo of project hood and senior pastor for the new beginnings church. he joins us from chicago. pastor, good morning. >> good morning, steve. thank you for having me on. >> steve: although, you know, it's a good morning any morning you wake up in chicago, you look at these numbers so many people are dying. it's hard for us to get our heads around on what is going on in your town. >> yes, it's unfortunate that we continue to have this cycle of issues violence in our city. just on august 18th, we had

seven children in 17 hours to be shot. and as you reported earlier, over 285 children have been shot in chicago. and out of those 285 children, 47 of those children are under the age of 17. and ten of those children are under the age of 12. have been killed. so we have this vicious cycle that is continuing. we should be outraged by it. but it seems that we're not getting ahold of it yet. >> steve: pastor, we have heard some times chicago's problem is a gang problem. that means these kids are either caught in the crossfire and murdered or they are just collateral damage to shootings that run related to them just being a kid. >> absolutely. when children aren't safe to ride in the cars with their parents, when they're not safe to go to playgrounds because of mass shootings. when he they're not safe to go to schools and walk to schools, we have a serious issue that needs to be dealt with. and it seems like every year we keep talking about this same problem in the city of chicago

and it's overtime that we do something about it. >> steve: pastor, this morning we catch you are off the road. you have been up on the roof i can't tell you how many days. you have been through every weather phenomena, snow, ice and rain and we have talked to you because you are trying to build a community center in your community to try to turn lives around. can you give us an update on how you are doing so far? >> they told me i was going to be on with you, steve. i dressed up and came off the roof today and came down to the studio. we have been on the roof over 300 days trying to bring attention and awareness to the violence and raise as much money as we possibly can our goal is to raise 35 million we raised 20 million since november 20th. we are going to try to build this center debt free. goal is to break ground on october 29th. work on violence and poverty in chicago. we need everybody's help. we appreciate fox for continually giving us opportunity to talk about what we are trying to accomplish.

and because of you, we are doing it. >> steve: you know, and, pastor, you mentioned fox. you appear primarily on fox. so it county kindness of these strangers all across america that are going to make this community center a reality. >> absolutely, steve. without a shadow of a doubt. if it were not for fox we definitely would not have raised $20 million thus far. fox has been so good to us. spreading our message. helping us do something about the violence in chicago when a lot of the other stations are being silent about the violence, fox has stepped up and making sure that they have a word and a say not just about the violence but also about the solution on the south side of chicago. and it's very much appreciated. all of the support we get all around the country has been garnered because of what fox has done for us. >> steve: we are just providing the air time. it's you with the message and you still need a long way to go make. >> 15 million. >> steve: 15 million. let's see -- listen, times are tough all over the country.

welcome back everybody. the battle for senate control could be at stake. washington senate candidate tiffany smiley trying to unseat patty murray. democrat must be getting nervous. institutions appear to be targeting smiley the seattle seahawks commanding she stop using their image after a campaign ad featured her husband wearing seahawks jersey. ironically given to him by the team as a tribute to him for his service. as the critics point out the team doesn't have a problem with democrats are pictured with their logo. "fo"fox & friends weekend" co-ht will cain is here. will is, seattle that way to the left that they're afraid of the public electing a republican?

>> seattle in general as a market the answer to that is yes, brian. one could argue that a corporation is catering to its local market. this is beyond the pale. because, in this case, so the smiley's husband lost his eyesight in iraq. gained a purple heart as an award for his service. then honored as the first active duty blind soldier in the u.s. army by the seattle seahawks as you saw there where he was the 12th man, fan in the stands, the honor of contributing to the seahawks winning environment. and the seahawks gave him that jersey as you said. that's too much for the seahawks for that jersey to be featured in two second of her ad. i find it sass continue sinating. brian. if a company wants to be completely apolitical, fine. between the want to be perceived as endorsing any candidate whatsoever.

as you pointed out it doesn't appear that the seahawks have been consistent in application. it doesn't appear they want to be a political they don't want their jerseys in an ad for republican. >> brian: but, will, are you still there? but, for example. >> will: yeah. >> brian: there is an example of a democrat wearing a seahawks jersey. doesn't seem to be a problem. >> will: exactly. >> brian: running for governor as a democrat, does it. >> will: exactly. right there on your screen vicky cayetano in hawaii. i would say that's pretty predominantly featured. that's the candidate herself wearing the ad. in this case only a candidate's spouse wearing the ad. corporations have made it clear which side of the aisle they stand. i'm sure they are happy to give campaign contributions to either party in order to do their will, to do their bidding, to make the business environment favorable to ultimate master. if it comes down to who they want to be aligned with, republican or democrat, at least publicly, it's pretty clear.

and i would love to hear from the seahawks. did they send cease and desist letter to those candidates you saw on the screen. those candidates. explain their position on why they would tell a purple heart, honoree by the seahawks don't wear that don't wear that jersey when you are in an time for your wife's campaign. >> brian: will, i think it's great point. on top of that i just think it's also important to point out that the people of seattle have seen their city go to hell. they have seen crime just go crazy. no place is safe. people are running for the hills. wherever i go i hear i used to live in seattle. and now people are just going for their livelihood. we are not debating on debating privatizing security or stem cell research. qualities of life and crime and punishment or lack thereof. will, thanks so much. always great to see you. bill. >> will: you bet. thanks, brian.
