has is too hard. my friend, something has to give. and that's where it's going to start with parents and adults who actually really care about this next generation. they all need to succeed as best they can and we're going to have to try to help them. all right. set your dvr so you always stay connected with us. >> carley: a fox news alert. the cost of gas shooting up with the national average hitting $3.83 per gallon. opec announcing major cuts to its crude output today. you are watching fox and friends first today. i'm charlie shook us. >> todd: that would drive our prices higher but there is no indication president biden plans to tap our resources here at home to help out. the white house says it will not release more oil from its strategic reserves.
1:01 am
instead continues to beg middle eastern countries like saudi arabia and kuwait to keep the taps flowing. >> carley: oil producers here at home panic the anger the warning "banding or illuminating the export of refined products would likely decrease inventory levels, reduce defining capacity, put upward pressure on consumer fuel prices, and alienate u.s. allies during a time of war. >> todd: kevin live in washington with more. >> good morning, todd and carley for potential cut by opec that obviously lead to major headaches. not just for the white house but for american consumers as well. they of course are already sitting down next saddled with significantly higher prices compared to when former president trump left office. the average price for a gallon of gas topping $3.80 a gallon right now according to aaa.
1:02 am
$3.80 a week ago, $3.86, continues to get worse when we look back. those producers will meet today to announce a plan to cut oil production which could cause another skyrocketing gas prices as the government somehow someway tries to avoid a real disaster. but, this is important, were you expecting them to say the blame for the latest surge of the gas price and the pain of the pump? think again. >> is the president responsible for gas prices going up? >> it's a lot more nuanced than c and there has been putin's war, and putin's war has increased gas prices at the pump. >> there they go again with the putin's war. if nothing else, they stay on message.
1:03 am
in the meantime, asked if he thought the u.s. would restock the strategic petroleum reserve which is at its lowest level near 40 years going all the way back to 1984. transport secretary pete buddha jed headded this. >> even though i'm excited about america leading the way to a future where we don't have to wait on some middle eastern country in order to get our energy, the reality is it's not happening overnight. >> most certainly it is not happening overnight. then again, the production on the domestic side can make a difference for americans right now. all of this is happening i should point this out, carley and todd, the price of crude is nearing $87 per barrel. with some predicting it could top hundred dollars a barrel if opec goes through with this threat. carley and todd? >> carley: i'm sure the prices we saw in the spring when we saw $4 per gallon gas.

california, where there are at least eight hotly contested house seats, the average price of gas is $6.38 per gallon. an increase of $0.62 in the past week. 40 sends in the swing state of arizona. you wonder if this continues how people are going to feel when they drive to cast their vote. >> todd: it's happening all over the country. oregon, nevada, arizona, michigan, all of them north of $4.23 a gallon. north carolina over $6.32. real pain at the pump. let's not forget about poor heating oil. my poor wife try to lock in a rate. spoiler alert, it's not low. >> i can imagine. >> todd: what does this all mean for you if opec does cut production today? here is larry kudlow. >> the u.s. under biden who turned the fossil fuels begets
1:05 am
off and drove up prices, we are dependent once again on opec. by the way, it is opec plus. it is the saudis plus the russians who are now going to cut back production. oil prices have gone up about ten bucks in the last couple of days. if they cut back on 2 million barrels per day some of which is what's by insiders, that will raise the price of oil by probably 15-20 dollars and that would jack up gasoline prices across the country, not just on the west coast where they are already too high. >> carley: the first time in history the national debt is more than $31 trillion. the grim milestone comes as experts anticipate a $1 trillion budget deficit for 2022. the rise in debt comes after massive covid spending trickling down my triggering the highest rate in 40 years. the number has concern after the federal reserve issued three

days ahead bit four allege looters arrested in lee county where the majority of hurricane deaths took place. governor laid into them after revealing three were illegal immigrants. >> they tried to loot and ransack in the aftermath of a natural disaster. they should be prosecuted but they need to be sent back to their home country. they should not be here at all. >> todd: lee county and blended a curfew well as a zero zero-tolerance policy. they face grand larceny charges. 7 minutes after the hour now. to a fox news exclusive. the fbi being sued for allegedly covering up communications with big tech companies on censoring the hunter biden laptop story. >> carley: says he was de frauded by the first son. good morning. >> conservative group america legal filing the suit under the freedom of information act yesterday.
1:08 am
the lawsuit reads in part, "the evidence is fbi and big tech including facebook alluded to interfere with the 2020 presidential election by falsely and maliciously labeling the laptop "russian disinformation" and by censoring or discrediting all news about its contents. in august, and a half i made a request for the bureau to make its correspondence with facebook between october 1st and novembee to the public. the fbi called this request "overly broad." the suit comes as a former business associate of the president's son sits down with tucker carlson for a tell all interview. says the media is silencing his part of the story. >> i can't find another story in the history of our country that has been so suppressed. a complete blackout. there has not been one incredible interview, debate on refuting anything i have said or
1:09 am
any piece of evidence. >> carley: also reacted to the voice mail sent by president biden to hunter biden about a "new york times" article detailing hunter's business dealings with china. watch this. >> it's staggering. the sitting president of the united states. that is joe biden in his own voice telling the american people, "i was always well aware of the business ventures my family was involved in." imagine sitting in a room with national security in the intel agencies with that article. joe biden is saying, i read that article and you are in the clear, hunter. >> carley: claims hunter defrauded him out of millions of dollars. >> todd: let's bring in kentucky congressman member of the house oversight committee. this interview is very important for every american to watch. let's play another clip from it. take a listen. >> we now know that's true, it
1:10 am
was suppressed by a federal agency, how did the fbi not affect the election outcome? >> you can call it rig, you can call it stolen, suppressed. the american people can call it whatever they want. the fact pattern the fbi alone elders history in the election. >> from these revelations about the fbi to treasury not giving you the documents you requested on hunter biden's foreign business dealings, is this anything other than a cover up at the highest levels of our government? >> it certainly appears to be a cover up and i can tell you that we've been probing hunter biden for many months as you know, and everything said about hunter biden, we have fact-checked and found to be true. the fact that he said on national television that he met with the fbi long before the election and told them everything, which would lead the
1:11 am
fbi to believe without a shadow of a doubt that the laptop was legitimate and for the fbi to completely turn a blind eye to the hunter biden influence peddling and the scandals with hunter biden, it's very troubling. to learn there was coordination according to mark zuckerberg with big tech to be careful and don't run any big drop that's going to come right before the election, it's probably going to be russian disinformation troubling for the fbi. that's why when the republicans take the majority we will have to significant evil form the fbi and hold people accountable at the highest levels for this cover-up. >> carley: hunter biden has one example but a lot of conservatives do feel like fbi is targeting republicans for political reasons. look at what happened with pro-life activist markel, he was arrested. pro-choice activists who have firebombed birthing centers and
1:12 am
there is nothing legally happening with them. how, congressman, do we get back to an even playing field where everybody in the country sees the fbi as a nonpartisan body as it should be? >> there should be a dual standard when it comes to the fbi how they treat liberals versus conservatives and i think this is very damaging to the fbi. the fbi is going to have to reform itself and it's going to start at the top. we need extremely new leadership and congress needs to come in and investigate all the potential wrongdoings. what said alone, all this and evidence, fact-checked and found to be true and the fact that the fbi did nothing to hunter biden is very concerning. not to mention the fbi raided the former president's home over some documents with the national archives.
1:13 am
this is completely unacceptable. this is a double standard. it's going to take a long time for the fbi to rebuild its reputation. >> carley: thank you so much for joining us. >> tbillionaire elon musk is sao be the new owner of twitter. the daily mail reports says that dell might paying his original bid for the social media platform. papers have already been filed with the securities and exchange commission and the deal is expected to close in just weeks. has previously backed away from the deal citing concerns over the amount of fake spam accounts on the site. >> what a turnaround. >> all arise for the new wing. after mashing his 62nd home or of the season last night in arlington, texas.

because we all arise for aaron judge. it's been such a fun ride so far. made history last night. >> todd: they have another game today but he could if he wins the batting league title win the triple crown. again, the triple crown, not the belmont or the kentucky derby. >> carley: facing harsh new criticism on crime, this time from a very unlikely source. >> you have people shooting today being apprehended, released back in the community and they will be at tomorrow. >> todd: he has a whole lot more to say. do not go anywhere.

"russo was everything we look for in a leader. this posthumous promotion is a sign of our deep respect and admiration for all the selfless work she did throughout her career." her funeral will be held this morning at 11:00 a.m. >> todd: local officials slamming new york's assault on crime policies following the senseless murder per father of three visiting his son in college caught in cross fire between two homeless men with outstanding felony charges. hotel staff, his neighbor and police officer sounding off in the state's lawlessness, "new york state has graded an environment where violent crime is acceptable. law-abiding citizens are secondary and those who commit crimes of order protections that embolden more crime." neighbor is mourning the loss of a devoted dad. >> anyone that meets him loves him. he's a great, great guy. >> todd: the suspected shooter

being held without bond on second-degree murder charges but his accomplice being charged on a $500,000 bail. even the george soros back to d.a. from alanine knows new york's bell reform laws are failing. >> we are talking about the black community. the leaders in the state government forsaken this community. you have people who are shooting today being apprehended, being released back in the community and they will be shot at tomorrow. >> todd: going on this lame no meaningful legislative action has been taken to address bell reform and raise the age which have demonstrably impacted violent crime in our most vulnerable communities." he was reacting to another violent weekend in the new york capital and across the state. his final question to new york lawmakers, what number will the body count be enough to prompt action. carley, this begs the question
1:23 am
could this alvin edab finally realizing the error of his ways because he was on the george soros light on criminals situation and could this be the point where everything changes where people put in these horrible policies realize and turnaround. that killing of that dad is speaking to everyone because it could be any single one of us. >> carley: right now it's senseless, random, terrifying, think about the three crimes that just took place, it all happened in new york. you have the woman attacked in the subway by somebody who murdered his grandmother when he was 14 years old. the dad who was shot by two career criminals who were homeless, you see his picture there. you see all of these images and it becomes all the more real, all the more tragic. allison russo elling who was stabbed to death on her lunch break and the common thread is you look at the criminals committing the senseless acts of
1:24 am
violence and you see their background and every single crime was completely predictable and you look at what's going on in new york and their reaction to it besides this d.a. today, it's been pretty much radio silence outside of mayor eric adams and his hands are tied and the number one job of all these lawmakers is to keep citizens safe but they are choosing politics over reality here. >> todd: his hands are tied politically. this is a former cop. at the end of the day, he should go back to his roots and realize he has the power to affect change instead of kathy hochul, we hope you do something -- change the laws in the subway! do it now! >> carley: the woman who was punched and she may lose her vision, she's speaking out saying that you said there would be cops in the subway and they are not enough police officers in the subway. what about the fact there is a shortage of cops in
1:25 am
new york city and that goes back to de funding the police and police being demoralized. so many issues now leading to senseless acts of violence and also this from the cover of "the new york post" that came out a few months ago that should be continually repeated, a criminal that committed -- he was inte arrested 101 times sine 2020 when the bell reform laws were changed. another person 96 times, 23 times, 71 times. what's the definition of insanity? the state doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different outcome? at this point in

questions. watch. >> you are the only person in the world who does this. >> carley: the president made the remark as reporters were being shuffled out of a task force meeting on abortion. since taking office in january 2021, biden has sit down for just 26 interviews and held 17 press conferences as president. that number is low. >> todd: during that dustup with the press the white house announcing a reproductive task force to protect abortion rights is going to be in response to the supreme court's decision on roe v. wade. listen. >> we believe and i certainly believe a woman should have the freedom to make decisions about her own body. her government should not be making those decisions for her. >> folks, what century are we in? i said before, the court got roe right and the government should codify the productions of roe

once and for all. >> carley: polar show voters are more concerned with economy, inflation, crime. is this a smart strategy by democrats? >> todd: senior pastor of the first baptist church in dallas and he's here in the studio with us. great to have you come a pastor. what role will abortion specifically but more generally religion have this midterm? >> tip o'neill used to have a saying, all politics are local. we care about the things that happen in our life's. the border, crime, so forth but what i'm seeing is conservative christians are interested in some other things too. there is a level of concern i've never seen before about what they perceive as the rotting display of the culture, the agenda liberals are trying to
1:35 am
jam down the throats of americans and american children. they are going to turn out numbers during the usual sleepy midterms not because they love the republican party but because they hate the godless agenda of the left. i think it's going to be historic. >> carley: people in puerto rico, florida, cuba, so much suffering right now. people lost their homes and businesses, some people lost love ones. what do you say about those going through that right now? >> people asked me why a loving god would allow such a thing to happen and i remind people that hurricanes, devastation, death, these were not part of god's original plan for the world and thank god they won't be part of the next world that awaits christians and until that time we can cling to a promise. i watch those people in florida, i thought about that verse, isaiah 43:to, when you go to the deep waters i will be with you.
1:36 am
he exempts us going through deep waters -- he said he'd walk with us through them and take a safely to the other side. >> todd: the people in florida probably aren't thinking about how this adversity is part of god's plan and how it's going to help them on the other side. they are thinking about how tough their lives are right now. what advice would you give them as pastor? >> what i would say to them is i think they need to know that god hasn't deserted them. after all, or people of faith, their faith is a bedrock issue, their life. i think we need to do things to help as well and certainly we can pray. people can underestimate -- i heard the host of another network say, i just want to send good vibes down to florida. i'm not sure what the heck that is but i do think when you pray it changes things. we need to put feet to our prayers and i couldn't consider people to contribute like our church is to samaritan's first and other relief organizations to help in a very practical way.

>> carley: you have a great new book out. it's called 18 minutes with jesus and i love the concept. if jesus were around and gave a ted talk what would he say. tell us about this book. >> it's called the sermon on the mound which you can read for 18 minutes. jesus talks about the things we care about most in our life. your money, sex life, anxiety, how to deal with enemies and eternal destiny. he talked radical things and this is about the radical truth jesus talks about every day l life. >> carley: sometimes we need those reminders to ground us. thank you so much for joining us. pick up a copy of this book. 18 minutes with jesus is out today. love it. >> thanks for having me. >> carley: here is horrifying warning for parents but right before halloween the dea says drug cartels are targeting kids

1:44 am
they were package like popular candies such as skittles and nerds and hidden in lego boxes. the dea is warning parents to be vigilant. >> they have to be proactive, open up the packages. if it doesn't look right, they need to call the police. the schools need to get involved. the white house needs to come out with a sense of urgency and put this out to the american people. we are losing a future generation. 300 a day. >> they wear reprinted with 30m to look fentanyl seizures at the southwest border have spiked dramatically from over 3600 pounds in 2019 to more than 12,000 this fiscal year. with this new deceptive marketing ploy by the cartels, and anil has become an ever

government, i've raised this as well, this calls for a federal solution. let's look at federal staff to help supplement the city. >> todd: interesting she's speaking up now. straining resources as new york city officials housing the border crossers for 2900 migrants have been bused to york city. carley? >> carley: cori bush standing by her calls to defund the police despite a spike of crime in her home state of missouri and across the united states. >> the thing about defund the police is we have to tell the entire narrative. people here are "deep on the police" but say reallocate, divest, move. it's still the same thing but we can't get caught up on the words. people spend more time focusing on the word "defund" then addressing the problem of police violence in this country. >> carley: running to unseat congresswoman bush in the up-and-coming elections.
1:47 am
a congresswoman standing by her calls to defund the police. what do you say? >> good morning, carley. i think it's an abominable position to take. most of us understand that words mean something. again unfortunately our congressperson does not understand this and it puts us in a quandary, so to speak. we are not doing the things that are necessary to move our country going forward, so that we can go about the business of moving at a trajectory that is positive for everyone. >> carley: you are absently right. cori bush say people spend more time focusing on the word defund then caring and addressing the problem of police violence in this country. police violence is one thing. but violent crime is much more prevalent. what is crime like in st. louis right now? >> it's over-the-top because there is no direction. leadership has failed, as i
1:48 am
often say. the fish rots from the head down and we certainly have phenomenal police officers. those men and women serve and protect and they go about their duty, they are a professional but what they are not getting it right now is the leadership to go out and execute their job so we can have a strong economy because the economy cannot grow without safety and other things that are involved as well. but we are certainly moving in the right direction that andrewjonesformacongress.com to get us where we need to be so we can ensure we are moving in the right direction. >> carley: cori bush beat out a more moderate primary challenger, his name was steve roberts. his whole campaign was don't vote for her, she's trying to defund the police and it's hurting st. louis and voters didn't like that message in your area. is that concern you? >> it doesn't concern me whatsoever. think about my history, i ran --
1:49 am
[audio breaking up] we are dealing on that momentum and we can get things done because people are tired of the status quo, a status quo that is not as productive, a status quo that embraces violent crime, we are turning it around by talking about things and will move us in the right direction. >> carley: you mention the word momentum in the momentum in police forces across the country is to leave inner cities. what are police officers in st. louis telling you? >> the exact same way, exactly disappointed in the lack of leadership but there is a hope along the way, and i'm saying that i am that hope because when i first ran for mayor, i talked about the violence, described
1:50 am
what i think are easy solutions to move us in the right direction. if you look at very little support, we've got the public endorsement from the fraternal order of police and police either someone in their horizon coming across the bridge to lead us in the right direction because i will support our police. >> carley: congress when bush send hundreds of thousands of dollars for a private security while she's been calling to defund the police and we are glad she has that money to protect yourself but there are so many others who rely on police to do that which is why it makes sense to keep police forces funded. andrew jones jr., thank you for joining us. >> thank you so much. and [audio breaking up] >> todd: taking another bite out of small businesses. this time it's hitting bakeries right before the holiday season. you are going to hear from one shop owner who is changing her recipes because, wait for it, my

butter, you have my attention. how are you changing recipes to deal with the increase in butter price which is ultimately caused by a shortage in butter? >> obviously with butter and everything we make, not being able to find the same butter or the same amounts of butter has really affected what we are doing. for me specifically one of the things is in the frosting i made, i had to change the amounts of liquids to fats to sugars. also the amounts of salt, just a lot of different things that have gone into our recipes. >> todd: the most important question i will ask, what does that due to the taste, krista? >> hopefully not a lot. we try to adjust to make sure sure it stays tasting good and tasting consistent. it's the year that things may not taste the same or be the same quality that we are used
1:57 am
to. >> todd: why is this happening, krista? >> i can only assume may be it's just a lack of milk production due to staff shortages. that would be my assumption. that's why we are seeing the increased prices. >> todd: going to look at some numbers here. american families we know that they cannot afford the price of groceries they see. eggs have gone up 39%. increasing every time we put up this graphic. specifically for you i want to focus on this, the price hikes are even worse. the price of wholesale eggs which you need a lot of up a a 104%. a lot more of the cost than the regular folk. the cost of other dairy products up, almost 25%. how much more are you forced to charge as a result of those increases? >> gosh. i've been forced to increase my
1:58 am
price is b recently we increased 20%. that doesn't really even vaden to the cost that i see personal leave. we are really trying to find that balance between how much i increase my prices while still trying to keep customers happy. customers happy. >> todd: once all of this together doing to your business, your bottom line? >> obviously we are making less money. also the shortages have made it a lot harder to i guess just have last-minute orders or do things, we have to prepare in advance to make sure we have enough of what we need, the right types of what we need. it's made it a little bit of a struggle at a lot of different levels. >> todd: what does this butter shortage mean for and about to go months we all become bakers with the holiday season approaching? >> well hopefully everybody can still find butter and find all
1:59 am
the eggs that they need which honestly for me it makes me a little bit nervous because sometimes we rely on just running into the grocery store, we might run out of things. i would... yeah, i just worry it's going to affect everybody's baking. >> todd: your op-ed is now out on foxnews.com. we certainly hope it gets better because butter is life. we appreciate your time. >> carley: did you hear about the situation out of nyu? new york university firing a chemistry professor after students signed a petition claiming his classes to darned difficult. students accuse the 84-year-old professor of reducing the number of midterms from three to two, not offering extra credit, removing zoom access to his lectures. they also complained about what they call "condescending and demanding tone." macklin jones also happens to be one of the most storied organic chemistry professors of all time
