7:02 pm
there will be retribution. >> laura: thank you. this is why we do the shows. hannity, thank you so much. thanks for being a good sport. i am laura ingraham. this is "the ingraham angle" from washington. thanks so much for being with us. despicable joe. that's the focus of tonight angle. just when you think the white house couldn't be more shameless, they surprise you and take shamelessness to the next level. lest you think everything in politics is just a reaction to donald trump, you're wrong. let's start tonight back in 2008 when republicans saw the political power of the then global warming crowd and they thought saw growing. supporting obama against mccain. sarah palin revealed who biden really was by goading him. >> the chant is drill, baby, drill. that's what we hear because
7:03 pm
people are so hungry for domestic sources of energy. >> laura: in response, biden did what biden still does. he deflected and then he just lied. >> john mccain has voted 20 times against funding alternative energy sources and things i guess the only answer is drill, drill, drill but it will take ten years to get one drop of oil for any of the wells. >> laura: think about how stupid his point was. so we shouldn't have drilled it was more drilling doesn't deliver oil overnight? notice democrats don't have that same concern about the long timelines for solar and wind. no concern there. no infrastructure required. then after eight years of obama's onerous energy breaks and after he signed the disastrous pairs of gourds, the democrats hit a major roadblock with the election of donald trump. >> over 40 years, america was vulnerable to foreign regimes
7:04 pm
that use energy as an economic weapon. americans' quality of life was diminished by the idea that energy resources were too scarce to support our people. the truth is that we have near limitless supplies of energy in our country. powered by new innovation and technology, we are now on the cusp of a true energy revo revolution. >> laura: 18 months later, just as he pledged the u.s. exported more oil than we imported. as for the first time in 70 plus years. think about this. in other words, trump achieved what would your nixon had promised 40 years earlier. it's astonishing. we had energy independence.
7:05 pm
the left and democrats were miserable. gasoline for cars was cheap. heating oil was reasonable. we had a glut of natural gas. america was strong and secure because we didn't just have energy independence. we had energy dominance. >> we have nearly 100 years worth of natural gas and more than 250 years worth of clean, beautiful coal. we are a top producer of petroleum and the number one producer of natural gas. we have so much more than we ever thought possible. we are really in the driving seat. you know what? we don't want to let other countries take away our sovereignty and tell us what to do and how to do it. >> laura: five years later, with trump gone, that's exactly what happening. other countries are controlling our destiny, our economy because joe biden's green goblins have
7:06 pm
sabotaged our energy independence. now opec is in the driver's seat along with russia of course. thank you very much, joe. joe biden is literally begging some of the most despotic regimes around to pump more oil. again, let's remember the steps that got us here. biden's own administration took out an early hit on the oil and gas industry, driving down production which of course drove up energy costs. then they started funding our proxy war against russia and launched meaningless sanctions against russian oil which only for the stove prices. now biden and company are fine with high gas prices. in fact they want high gas prices. but they knew the issue is hurting them politically so they recklessly tapped the strategic petroleum reserves which did artificially drop the price of gas. well, that ticked off the saudis and opec and russia so they simply responded by saying okay,
7:07 pm
joe, two can play at that market manipulation game. we are going to cut our production by 2 million barrels per day. in other words, everything biden did backfired. and we are left holding the bag. his oil play will go down as one of the most costly most craven, and most despicable political maneuvers in recent american history. and now biden and company are stuck between a rock and a hard place. americans are about to get hammered. even worse than before, recession is now a certainty. but it's not biden's fault. of course not. after all, he brayed repeatedly during the campaign of all the great relationships he had forged with foreign leaders around the world. >> what is this due to u.s. relations with saudi arabia? >> it's a shortsighted decision. it's its own purported self-interest. that opec plus made the decision
7:08 pm
upon. we see it is a mistake. >> laura: wow. she is kidding us. do you mean nations act in their own self-interest? this is actually a revelation to these people. do they not remember what other countries did? during covid. they hoarded their own ppe. before you panic, because things look bad. remember biden has an energy savant in place at the of transportation. >> we are in a transition then transitions are complicated. we need to manage the transitions in a smart way. we can't afford to drag our feet. there is nothing that we gain by trying to stop this progress. >> laura: this is progress. boy wonder is trying to south bend your thinking on what will be desperately sad time for so many americans who live paycheck to paycheck. none of these people care about
7:09 pm
your economic pain. none of them. they are fine with you having a lower standard of living because to them it's all collateral damage. it's all collateral damage along the road to the green nirvana. they will not change the policy. this is their policy. but the most loathsome action of all is the fact that they are playing games with our national security. because they are sucking down our oil reserves that are supposed to be for true emergencies. look at this chart. this is where biden has taken us. to the brink. this is beyond dangerous. there is no end in sight to what they are going to try to do to public support. >> use all the tools at our disposal to have adequate supply of energy globally. those actions including our historic piece of strategic petroleum reserve has had an impact, oil prices are down
7:10 pm
significantly. gas prices are down as well. >> laura: liars. prices are going up. the american people are going to suffer and there's no one of the 70% of them now say the next generation will have the same quality of life that they have. you can feel it, right? americans are increasingly pessimistic and the democrats just do not care. they only pretend to lay take dangerous tabs like the spr release. they only do that around election time. after the election if they somehow managed to keep the majority. >> when i get in there, you're in for a world of pain. >> sean: a world of pain. that's "the angle." joining me now is senator tom cotton. author of an upcoming book. senator, we have just over 400 million barrels left in the strategic petroleum reserve, the administration today made it
7:11 pm
clear they have no plans of stopping their release of more oil. explain why this is so dangerous. >> [laughs] it's obvious why they are doing that. they have an election in 34 days in the price of gas is gone up by a quarter in most places throughout the country. i think you put it well. and as i write, democrats plan is declined by design. we don't have $5 a gallon gas in this country by accident. it's not an unintended consequence. it's not bad luck or the evil machinations of oil company executives or opec. it's because joe biden and progressive democrats want gas to be that expensive. they want you to get out of your gas guzzling suv or minivan. they want farmers to have to stop using diesel for tractors and other firm instruments. they think they're going to be
7:12 pm
able to replace things things with electric vehicles which by the way really are coal powered or natural gas powered or nuclear powered because the electricity has to come from somewhere. it doesn't come from the sun when it's not shining or the wind when it's not blowing. this get back to the far less anticapitalist views. energy literally powers our modern economy. our founding fathers didn't have a much different quality of life in jesus' disciples and that's because sources of energy were the same. it's only in the last 200 years. fossil fuels, coal and oil and gas and nuclear power that we've achieved true energy independence. >> laura: senator. yeah. let me jump in. people want to know what next so let's say you do manage to get the seat and you take the majority. maybe you take a couple seats. what can republicans do to stop
7:13 pm
this madness if anything? >> at a minimum we can use our spending power which we've got to do every year, forced the biden administration to take certain actions whether it's permitting new pipelines or other oil and gas developments, issuing new permits. we did this. we won the senate and house in 2015. we lifted a 40-year-old ban on oil exports going back to the jimmy carter era. these are things, steps we can take to restore america's oil and gas production. we can encourage more drilling, more production not only for our own energy needs but for our allies and partners. the biden administration, the democrats are doing this on purpose. they recognize the political danger of it. that's why they are taking such risky steps.
7:14 pm
>> laura: it's beyond obvious that's what they are doing which brings me to my next question. again, if the republicans take the majority, can we expect hearings in the senate that probe whether the motivation for releasing millions and millions of barrels and potentially endangering the american people in a time of emergency, when that was done for political reasons. who was involved in that decision-making. to me that's really important question. i'm not saying it's necessarily an impeachable offense but pretty damn important that we find out why that was done. >> we need to get to the bottom of it. i think we know are going to find out in the end. it's the political czars throughout the administration report it back to the president. local allies, political aides in the white house. >> laura: that can't be allowed. >> it's not the political
7:15 pm
petroleum reserve. they recognize even though they want to gas to be a $5 a gallon, they recognize this is a unique pain point for most american families and they get to at least appear to be taking action 34 days before the election. they are blaming opec and evil oil companies for trying to drive up the price of oil but that directly translates back to their own failed energy pol policies. like hurricane ian. imagine if we had a hurricane like hurricane ian. >> laura: they are defrauding the american people. that's not they are oil. it's our oil and they are playing politics until that issue. i don't think we can assume anything. it has to be proven that this was a calculated political move which is endangering the future of america and i want to know who was responsible and i want to see the emails. i think you are perfectly

positioned if you get the senate to take charge. we can't let this happen again. senator, i can't wait to read your book. thank you. they are trashing our schools. this from illinois. a new report reveals children illinois schools aren't performing at even the most basic level and it's hitting minorities especially hard. before the pandemic, 36% of all third-graders were reading at ge level. that goes down to 27% for hispanic students, 22% for black students. you look at the cities, decatur, 17% of hispanic third-graders and 2% of black students read at grade level. in chicago in 2021, less than
7:17 pm
11.8% of hispanic third-graders and only 9% and percent of black students read at grade level. joining me now, cofounder and the executive director of chalkboard review. former indiana teacher. he revealed what was going on with crt. you hear people say that democrats care about the kids and racism is keeping kids back. what are they doing the other teachers unions to cause this to happen? >> using the same exact progressive policies over and over again to try to teach reading and math in a way that's not shown to improve reading or math scores for any student based on any research we've done. trying it again and again and expecting some kind of different result is the definition of insanity. now we are seeing these children pay the price for that kind of
7:18 pm
incompetence. quite honestly it's a shame to see some of the biggest schools in our country are doing the largest amount of harm to our students who need this material the most. >> laura: you hear the word equity thrown around a lot. we're going to have an equitable outcome. the but the more you look into what that means, and we have some news out of d.c. which we are going to get to. it just means lowering everybody's learning, reading, proficiency. d.c.'s already horrific scores, they continue to go down. the share of students who passed the math exam fell to a percentage .31 points, percent before the pandemic to 19% in 2022. that's the lowest ever recorded in d.c. >> it's incredible when you consider how much those districts spend per students. 30,000 per student and they can't get their students to read at grade level.
7:19 pm
chicago is approaching $30,000 per student per year. it's incredible. >> laura: a friend of mine who teaches in the d.c. public schools, who is fantastic, she said laurel, the sad thing here is that the big focus for the last two years was whether kids were going to be -- head masks properly fitting or social distancing, not whether they were actually learning anything. meanwhile you have educational fascist randi weingarten spouting. >> future depends on our young people being educated, being critical. how to be resilient and build relationships. be the kind of community that makes a better, more susta sustainable, more peaceful wo world. >> laura: selling out the kids for which he calls
7:20 pm
sustainability, she holds a stupid cardboard pencil that says investing teachers. how is it a national outcry about this? >> the same teacher who said she supported ukraine and the fly was upside down. she's claimed to get students back into schools where according to recent memory, she was going on national television during the covid pandemic. she was exposed for working behind the doors with the cdc to change the guidance. that's why enrollment rates are dropping. >> laura: great to see you tonight, thank you. the liberal media keep dismissing the idea of the red wave that we have numbers that may say otherwise. chris bedford is here. we will go to the big screen

7:27 pm
that flying? >> it's not. we were in wisconsin reporting before the 2020 election and there's one thing after the whole summer and everything to put a sign professing your innocence for joining a political cause in your window but it's another thing when they are burning down kenosha, the hotel staff in milwaukee has to say move your car because rioters will be here tonight. people wset. democrats might've been able to pull it out because there was distaste for donald trump among suburban women voters but despite democrats best efforts, trump is not on the ballot. his policies are on the ballot. releasing criminals, that's not a popular position. speech or talking about of rapists and murderers. his views are extreme but is it out of step with wisconsin? >> this is the difference between ron johnson being able
7:28 pm
to define his opponent. senator releasing advertisements that take the ads. he said acting like a baseball and hitting normal -- his policies are for cutting police. he says america is an awful counting. he says the green new deal should come to wisconsin. >> laura: typical democrat. let's turn to the house where incumbent democrat henry cuellar is battling a newcomer in the texas district. >> henry cuellar is the last pro-life democrat left. he's been yelling at the president about the border come he is a nine term congressman running against an openly conservative ted cruz staffer. this used to be the future of the democrat plans. they wrote books about how the changes going to usher in a democratic supermajority. it's ground zero. democrats keep on attacking the

border. it's hurting democrats. he's had support for democratic leadership but in general this is a showing a continuing trend of hispanic voters turning on democrats. >> laura: this primary went to a runoff and then a recount. he may have lost if the democratic leadership didn't step in to help him even though he's at odds with democrat leadership on most of these big issues. semiautomatic ban. why do they want him to win if he's just going to be a rubber stamp? >> over 40% against the president. that 60% is helpful. the rio grande is going more and more red. the young woman is a radical left-winger. democrat said there's no shot she's going to win and the general election and maybe we can get some concessions from henry cuellar. but it's never good for an
7:30 pm
incumbent to almost barely scrape by in the primary. >> laura: a couple years ago they said beto o'rourke will be at the forefront of flipping texas to blue. i think we saw that headline so many times. >> they are still doing think pieces. now we have mandela barnes. >> laura: let's stay in south texas. g.o.p. congresswoman is battling a democrat congressman in the 34th district. she is running for her first full term after she won the special election. this really does seem like a hispanic wave in some sections of the country for republicans. >> the first mexican-american woman elected to congress for a special term. she's the first republican in history elected to her own congressional seat because of rewriting, these two incumbents are forced to face off against each other and i think she's got a real shot.
7:31 pm
democrats in texas kind of run to the right of the republicans in massachusetts. it's not a left-wing state at the local level but democrats are in trouble with right-wing challengers. oecd, the political report said it's leaning towards myra. the summer of joe biden with his aviators, that seems to be puttering out in real time. >> laura: the number one state that could be a bellwether for an absolute republican wave would be what? let's see a gubernatorial race. if it went to republic, which would preside to republican wave? >> oregon. >> laura: it's got to be pacific northwest. if that goes red, all bets are off of the democrats. >> and i will go back to oregon. it will be safe again. >> laura: the lives of beloved children's characters, why are they being revealed. a big city mayor has an answer
