likely to go higher after opec plus announced it will cut oil production by a shocking 2 million barrels a day. >> dana: now the biden administration is walking an economic tight rope. if the economy heats it it could make the inflation worse. if it cools down the risk of a recession gets more likely. fox team coverage this morning. larry kudlow standing by with the big picture. let's go to edward lawrence at the white house breaking down the numbers for us. >> this was a very good jobs report and could be part of the problem. it will likely keep the federal reserve on course to have aggressive rate hikes at the next meeting the first week of november. the unemployment rate went down to 3.5% tying historic lows because more people dropped out of the workforce. now leading the way for job creation, leisure and hospitality adding back 83,000 jobs in september. the sector is 1.1 million jobs below february of 2020 levels.
6:02 am
manufacturing added 22,000 jobs. president likes to say he created hundreds of thousands of jobs there. in a fact check the industry added back all the lost jobs in the pandemic and only created 95,000 jobs since february of 2020. healthcare, construction, wholesale trade all added. yesterday before the number came out the president looking for more credit about the amount of jobs he has added. >> president biden: this is about economic security, folks. it's about national security. it's about good-paying jobs that you can raise a family on. jobs now and for the future. jobs in every part of our country. >> so the fact is the economy added back all the lost jobs from the pandemic on net. under this president, though, overall it has created 514,000 jobs since february of 2020. so you can see the job gains, federal reserve was looking at all these job gains and seeing those people who got those jobs
6:03 am
have a paycheck now where maybe they didn't have a paycheck. they'll spend money and puts upward pressure on inflation and the fed is looking and saying it could be a green light for another aggressive rate hike in the beginning of november. >> dana: let's bring in larry kudlow, host of kudlow on fox business. why does the labor participation rate keep going down? where are all the people? >> well, i wouldn't -- you had a huge influx of workers last month, i think 700,000. so you lost about 50, 55,000. i don't think that's a big issue in this particular report. i mean, i think overall the government is paying too much assistance for various entitlement programs and we're paying people not to work. there is no work requirements so you probably have 4 to 5 million people at least who are staying
6:04 am
out for economic reasons. they are getting just as much from the government as they would from a job. so i think that's an issue. i don't think that's the biggest part of this report. this was a fairly solid report. we're seeing a gradual decline in job creation, about 500,000 jobs per month over the last year settling in to 250,000 or so. wages slightly easier but still your overall wages 5% this month, 12-month change versus 5.2 last month. production worker wages, blue collar wages and so forth 5.8% increase versus six. the problem is the cpi is running at close to 81/2. so real wages continue to decline. that's the soft underbelly in this economy. and you see the bond markets sold off. dagen knows all about that.
6:05 am
the ten year 390 up ten bases points. they'll raise at the november meeting in a couple of months and it will be perilous for the economy. nothing much else they can do. they waited 15 months when they lied to us about how transitory inflation was. turned out to be completely wrong. that's the stark fact. we'll have more fed tightening and it bodes poorly for the economy and we'll get a pop in gasoline prices because we decided everybody in the world should produce oil except the united states, which about the dumbest thing i've ever heard. >> dagen: that leads me into the policy mistakes out of the biden administration. just talking aboutville filing and lambasting our energy producers, but the response to this 2 million barrel per day cut from opec, there is talk of
6:06 am
an antitrust suit against opec+ and talk of some politicians in the democratic party threatening to withdraw u.s. troops whether than telling our energy producers have at it, we'll support you at every turn and in terms of policy mistakes, the fed's inflation fight has been that much worse because of the money still coming out of the biden administration in the form of stimulus. even some states are doing it. >> yeah, well, you know, you can't make this stuff up, you just can't make this stuff up. we would rather have venezuela, which is a socialist communist country basically run by the cuban secret service and financed by russia, cuba, and china. we would rather have this guy maduro produce oil, which by the way is the dirtiest oil in the world, disgusting, terrible oil. ours is the cleanest in the world. we would rather him produce or
6:07 am
we would rather iran produce. we're still negotiating this nuclear treaty with iran which is a farce and is one of the reasons why the saudi opec people are turning towards russia and away from the united states. we would rather do anything, dagen, than open the spigots here in the united states. i mean, you just can't make this stuff up. yesterday you had the announcement from the nsc and nsc shows you how we have to curb fossil fuels. no, i beg your pardon. it shows why you should open the fossil fuel spic other. worse in terms of national security terms. we have fore feated the whip hand in the world oil market. we're no longer dominant or independent. we've given that power to russia, opec, that's a giant
6:08 am
mistake in economic and national security terms. for joe biden to start blathering on here about how he has improved our economic security, that is completely wrong. they are talking about shutting down all the off shore federal leasing. the other stuff the justice department will sue opec, real'y? you think they're quacking in their feet over that? i don't think so. the obvious thing is to open the fossil spigots, 80% of the world's power comes from carbons, oil, natural gas. 80%. and we have spent in recent years trillions and trillions of dollars and we have not moved the needle at all. fraction lower in carbons and we have not increased the use of renewables whatsoever. there is no alternative infrastructure.
6:09 am
my point is in every single way we have an inflation problem, we have a soft economy on the front end of a recession problem. we have real wages falling and we are now outsourcing the principle source of energy. we are outsourcing it to the middle east once again. remember the arab oil embargo in the 1970s when i first came to the federal reserve and wall street and to venezuela and to iran. this is farcical. the "wall street journal" editorial board called it preposterous. >> dana: larry kudlow, thank you so much. we appreciate your expertise as always and the national security warning is well taken. thank you so much. >> dagen: new f.b.i. report on violent crime in the united states shows the national murder rate went up last year but the report does not include data from some of the biggest and most crime-ridden cities in the country. among them chicago. that's where garrett tenney is standing by live. good morning, garrett.
6:10 am
>> dagen, good morning. the new f.b.i. report may paint a rosier picture than the reality. the bureau switched to a new program last year. 40% of police departments did not report data by the agency's deadline including major cities like here in chicago where part one crimes, the ten most serious crimes that occur on a regular basis are up 37% this year compared to 2021, which was one of the worst years in recent memories. the f.b.i. report doesn't include l.a. where part one crimes are up by 11% and didn't include new york city where part one crimes are up this year 32%. where we continue to see instances of seemingly random violent attacks on the subway like this one from just last night. police say a 30-year-old man was getting off a train when an unknown man came up to him with a large knife and unprovoked
6:11 am
stabbed him multiple times in the back and chest before running away. the victim was taken to the hospital and is listed in serious but stable condition. it's also worth noting that not included in the f.b.i.'s crime report is new orleans, which recently became the murder capital of the country with the highest murder rate in all the land. dagen. >> dagen: thank you so much, garrett tenney in chicago. crime and public safety proving to be major issues on the campaign trail. lawrence jones has been crisscrossing this entire country talking to voters and he will be in studio with us in a little bit about the impact in november. >> dana: president biden not mincing words when it comes to the nuclear threat from vladimir putin. what it could mean that he is now using the word armageddon. >> dagen: fox news gets an exclusive ride along on the full scope of the crisis on the southern border.
6:12 am
>> dana: the feds are closing in on the president's son. just how strong is the evidence? jonathan turley will break that down next. >> the possibilities of all the things he was doing with foreign countries is not if here. what is in here are lying on a gun registration form. so it's a big moment if they are going to go forward with it. think he's posting about all that ancient roman coinage? no, he's seizing the moment with merrill. moving his money into his investment account

lot of ofd of criminal conduct by hunter biden. there has been a lack of interest and pursuit in looking at some of these claims. the concern really for some of us is whether this is being pushed by the mid-term elections, the republicans are expected to take over the house. announced they will investigate the hunter biden matter. this could essentially close off that avenue for prosecution by reaching a plea agreement. so many people are concerned as to whether the full scope of potential criminal conduct will be included in this type of indictment. it is hard to tell until we see that indictment about how aggressive this investigation has been. the concern that i have is that one of the crimes that has not been raised is a fara violation dealing with the registration of foreign agents.
6:22 am
with people like paul manafort the justice went aggressively to prosecute those people not registered as foreign agents. hunter biden seems to meet that paul manafort standard. and if that's not included, it will raise a lot of questions because by not including it, you don't have to ask embarrassing questions about influence peddling that may have generated millions for the biden family. >> dana: okay. so i want to follow up on that a little bit. one of the things that you continually hear and it is the right answer, no one is above the law. we heard this a lot about the trump mar-a-lago raid. absolutely agreed. on the fara violations what would explain that except for they just don't want to go there? >> yeah, i don't know. i testified on this in congress and noted that if the paul manafort standard is followed, then hunter biden would be indicted. mueller, the former special
