subway. somebody else slashed in the east village. this is day after day after day. there are a lot of parents, a lot of families dealing with this reality of rising crime. >> dana: alexandria hoff is live in washington with more. hi. >> hi, crime has become an issue where democrats have had to tread lightly on the campaign trail not wanting to highlight violence in cities they control or former calls to defund the police. pennsylvania's toss-up senate race dr. oz has moved into striking distance of democrat john fetterman with ads calling out homicide rates in philadelphia and pittsburgh. fetterman has had to play defense there. >> i'm running on my record on crime. running on my record on crime. [cheers and applause] i ran to be mayor of braddock in a community that has significant gun violence. to be mayor, to fight that.

badly with people in north carolina? >> it is. it's people that know how to weld and build. those are the people that are our heroes right now and those in north carolina probably went right from high school right into the workforce. they made good money. sometimes making a lot more money than those with four-year degrees saying what do we get? nothing. people with degrees not paying the bills and can't pay back student debt get a hand-out and that's not sitting well. >> bill: democrats haven't won a contest since 2008. it would seem that republicans have the state locked down. this race is too close to call. >> there are 29 days to go. we're the nascar state and have to keep our foot on the gas and can't let up in the corners. >> dana: has the population changes with the build-up of the cities around charlotte and raleigh and a big university system, of course, super

popular. a lot of people want to live in north carolina and a well-run state. as the population changes one of the reasons we see this race being closer? >> we're keeping an eye on it. unaffiliated grow and grow and republican registration grow. unaffiliated are coming toward me. they want a say in their kids' education. beasley is a rubber stamp for joe biden's policy wrong on all issues including crime, inflation and education. >> bill: you will debate again? >> open to that. i don't think she would want to after friday night. she was exposed as a pretty radical person. >> you are one and done on debates? >> it's about talking to voters. early voting october 20th. >> dana: day before your birthday. thank you for being in new york. you'll be back on the campaign trail as soon as possible. >> bill: back overseas, barrage

of russian rockets striking kiev and other ukraine cities. multiple people killed and injured as putin meets with security council in moscow two days after the bridge from crimea to russia was hit by an explosion. how has this war changed now, trey? hello. >> bill, good morning. russia today launched a massive attack on ukraine firing more than 80 missiles into the country. ukrainian president zelensky says that iranian drones were used, launch from belarus targeting the capital of kiev. you can see the images here of pure devastation. multiple explosions rocking the capital killing at least five people. five others were killed in different locations. the after math of one of these strikes in the central part of the city. the worst air attack on the capital since the war began. the u.s. embassy in kiev sent

out an email to citizens saying shelter in place. putin commented today saying it is impossible to leave the crimes of the kiev regime unanswered. he is trying to frame the bridge explosion over the weekend as a ukrainian terror attack. in the second largest city of car -- people are sheltering in place here. >> russian rockets hit all of ukraine including our city where the rockets hit the infrastructure. the aim was not let people live normally and destroy the infrastructure. >> the city is in a blackout. many people staying underground fearful the strikes could resume. >> bill: trey yengst, good to have you on the ground in

broken. prices are risking an overshoot to the down side. if it doesn't stop, we'll act. last week was a broadside instead of a warning shot and acted with the 2 million barrel a day quota cut. i don't think it was about swatting at the biden administration or trying to make a point about the price cap or anything. i think it was just about trying to keep oil prices from falling further. >> dana: then for the strategic petroleum reserve draw downs. we're now down to i think the lowest it's been at 460 million barrels. look how far it's come down. the president continues to take our emergency oil and put it out there and in response to opec says we'll do 10 million more before the end of october. so how does that sit with the overall policy? and from your perspective? >> the president -- there aren't great options when oil prices are going against you. what you have to do is not make

mistakes that make it worse. draining strategic petroleum reserve a mistake. that's like fighting with a squirt gun against guys with ak-47s. we won't win. restricting product exports. bad ideas are what they are grasping for. the best thing you can do here is keep your cool and don't make mistakes. like further draining the strategic petroleum reserve. >> dana: explain what the nopec bill is. >> it would remove sovereign immunity from sherman antitrust investigations. right now the united states can't sue saudi arabia, mexico or kuwait for managing supply. if they pass this bill they could. the president could do that. this bill was used to break up standard oil in 1911. the reason it's bad if i wanted to kill shale oil, i would pass this and outlaw swing production. the dirty little secret. the necessary evil in the oil

markets, dana, is that you have to have somebody trying to keep oil prices stable or you see these wild boom/bust prices that we've seen over the last 20 years. remember just two years ago when oil prices were collapsing, president trump was becoming sort of the king of the opec deal. he dropped his aversion to opec and organized a big cut to rescue the shale industry. the only worse than opec managing the oil market is opec not managing the oil market. suing them is deeply unwise and short sighted. >> dana: what is your forecast for what everyday americans will be looking at in terms of gas prices and home heating oil in the next few months? >> dana, you won't have me on again. i don't have good news. oil prices are going higher and why. it's not about opec+. the e.u. sanctions on russia. the thing that people weren't paying attention to last week is the e.u. tightened their

should bear the burden for our broken immigration system regardless of which political party they are affiliated with. unfortunately we continue to have these influxes and it is something that unfortunately will not end. the fact remains that in fact let me go back to this. we've had a unified government multiple times in the past several decades and unfortunately, neither party has delivered immigration reform in several decades. we had it the first two years of biden and first two years of trump, obama, bush, clinton. and still neither party delivered immigration reform. unfortunately we continue to see these influxes and it will continue. we'll continue to see all these influxes because we have had for the last several decades. it's unfortunate because now you are having municipalities bear the burden of the financial costs associated with managing the flow of migrants. >> bill: you are right on not

dana. >> dana: aishah hosni, important story. we'll get the word out. >> the real question is will the f.b.i. hold people accountable? i mean, i got my doubts. frankly i'll believe it when i see it. 2016 they spied on president trump's campaign. 2018 mueller investigation, 2020 they suppressed information about the hunter biden laptop. we'll do everything we can to hold these folks accountable. if we have the majority bring them in front of congress, do to depositions to get the facts. >> bill: republicans are saying they'll launch multiple investigations into hunter biden if they take back the house in november. this admit reports the department of justice is considering federal charges against the president's son. here to talk about it john levine. from the "new york post." bring us what you believe is new on this part of the story today. >> a lot of the hunter stuff that you are seeing from the intelligence agencies or the department of justice or much of the mainstream media has been old news to regular viewers to

fox news and readers of the "new york post." i think what's new and interesting is finally the official, you know, organs of state are catching up to where we all are. now they say there is chargeable evidence about that, that hunter lied on federal gun forms. he said he was not currently addicted to drugs or narcotics when he purchased a handgun which you can't do, a serious federal crime. there is also talk he didn't report his full income taxes. so the justice department is the one that decides who and who doesn't face federal charges. that will ultimately be merrick garland and his people. he answers to president biden. >> dana: is there anybody that is -- i thought it was interesting that hunter's lawyer did come out last week and say that he wanted the justice department to investigate whoever leaked the story about the possible indictment. we don't hear too much from them. >> now it's the democrat and team biden concerned about leaking from the department.

never mind we saw years of leaks about the russia investigation which turned out to be nothing. interesting to see the shoe on the other foot. >> bill: what jordan talked about they would call christopher wray to testify which makes sense if you want to know why the f.b.i. hasn't proceeded on a particular investigation that you think should happen. however, here are the charges hunter faces tax crimes, foreign lobbying, making false statements, lied on a gun purchase paperwork what you just mentioned. if the republicans take the house, look at the long list of potential matters that they would investigate. his business dealings, his art sales, homeland security secretary, withdrawal from afghanistan, on and on the list goes. >> dana: a long list. >> bill: do you think that hunter biden is at the top of that list? my guess is yes. >> there is going to be a blizzard of house oversight probes should republicans take back congress.

the white house is gearing up hiring staff explicitly just to deal with what they expect will be inquiries and subpoenas and whatever else. very established d.c. lawyer and his deputy and the team will expand. >> dana: it is interesting how this story -- i believe now is not just on conservative or liberal sites. this is mainstream. people know about the hunter biden story and i don't think that even if they said well, he did those things when he was addicted to drugs and alcohol and therefore now that he is recovered he shouldn't have to face consequences for that. that isn't how it works for americans across the country. there would be backlash for that. >> that is not how it looks. look at paul manafort who spent years in prison over foreign crimes. rudy giuliani had his apartment raided for suspicion of fara
