remote and not a lot of traffic or people in the water, so surfing there quite a bit. it's definitely on your mind. i'd say upwards of 70% of the time i do surf there by myself. so it was on my mind and it being the month of october i had some second thoughts about it. that day, it was on my mind more than usual, probably just because it was the beginning of october. >> tucker: it's can and eat when your worst fears come true because then at least you get it on the way. this great white shark latches on to you how did you get them off? >> i just pedaled out. i had been in the water for 10 minutes. between sets of waves you have time to think about anything it

was on my mind in that moment. there were a lot of seals in the water, so i actually thought it was a seal. i came to while i was unde underwater. most of the pressure was around my knee. it was more localized so i thought it might've been a seal. and i pretty much just give it one hard kick and it pretty quickly released and i got to my board and pedaled in, kind of not knowing that i had many lacerations. i even checked my knee to see if it had broken my wet suit and felt a little tear. initially i felt somewhat inconvenienced or agitated that is seal might've given me an infection so when i made it to the beach, that's when i realize how serious it was.
