police officers shot in raleigh, north carolina, and also police officers shot in bristol. one's wife is expecting a baby. these are fathers, brothers, sons and it's really, really scary. we have a beautiful lady in the back, amy went to the university of south carolina in the honors college with her dissertation on police and tell me more about your dissertation because it is concerning you especially for your own son. >> sure, my dissertation research was on the relationship between leadership behavior. some of the things we've been talking about today. and resilience and police officers. leadership and how it makes a huge difference for these officers that are facing horrific situations all of the time. it is a real problem with her attention, it is a real problem with recruitment, and we are seeing that in departments across the country. >> ainsley: and your son is interested in law enforcement? >> he is. as a mom i am terrified. this is a terrible time to go

with the law enforcement and to think that could be my child, it breaks your heart. as a citizen i am really grateful and proud. he is the kind of person who should be wearing uniform with a badge and when the time comes all weekend it was committed to god and that's what we can do. >> ainsley: lots of prayer, pete, brian, isn't that sad? these are individuals that are putting their lives on the line to save all of us when we are having an emergency situation. and when you see so many police officers leaving the forest, retiring, that is pretty scary because who are we going to call? the bad guys are calling 911, they are luring the police officers to their house, this is what happened in bristol, connecticut. the officers show up to save lives and make a difference and they are shot and killed. >> brian: thanks, ainsley, we will expand on that now. >> pete: police on that topic have a juvenile suspect in

custody following a deadly shooting spree in north carolina yesterday. five people were killed including an off-duty police officer, authorities say another victim is fighting for their life. a k-9 officer was also hurt but is expected to recover. >> brian: investigators say the suspect was armed with a rifle started shooting on a walking trail around 5:00 p.m. officers blocked off the streets around the neighborhood, an hour-long manhunt. this tragedy comes less than 24 hours after to cope an addict stomach to my connecticut police officers responded to what they thought w was a domestic dispute but it was an ambush. >> pete: officer alex hamdi was announced dead at the scene and officer diamante's was in critical condition. alex larocco was greatly injured. they say "the spewing of anti-police rhetoric by social media figures as well as

">> brian: since last thursday 12 officers have been shot in the line of duty 15 police officers have been killed so far this year and a line of duty and it's still october. sergeant john karpinski from connecticut police was here to put in perspective what's going on. >> the main function in problem we have right now is these politicians have stripped us of the most important tool a police officer has. it is not on his belt. with respect. when respect is taken away, the public do whatever they want to do and now we are seeing the results in exit interviews because everyone is quitting and leaving. the exit interviews, 82% of people said the reason we are leaving as we don't feel we have the support of our administration and/or our city

philadelphia. he set a policy where three things really don't get prosecuted. marijuana possession,, and shoplifting. it's not a big item. they don't prosecute so people with impunity come into the store and say well, i'm just going to take it and no one do anything. things break down the problem is that's fine, well, and good if you are taking something you need but then the business says i can't do business here i will shut down so now no one has a place to buy stuff. not a good thing. >> brian: they don't have much of a choice, thanks, jeff, appreciated. when you see smash and grab people come in t guys come in, women too, how do you stop them? do threaten to shoot them? call the cops? cops aren't coming. they are depleted. speed when you shut your business down because there's nothing you can do. >> brian: how may times can you lose all of your stuff?

>> ainsley: ryan mcbrien i was at a mall in your area out f long island at a department store and i was standing at the front door i was trying to exchange something, and i hear all of this commotion. screaming. this girl is running with her friend to the exit door where we were standing and she had all of these pocketbooks in her hands, very expensive purses. the clerk said she was looking at all of them, they pulled them all out, they unlock them because all of these were attached to the lock with the big string and they unlock them and put them on the counter and the girl ran off with all of them and ran out the door. the clerk was worried she was going to get fired because you are only supposed to unlock one pocketbook at a time, the girls ran out, the police officer showed up or whoever was on duty there is a department store and set i am not allowed to do anything. the department store says i can't. they had a getaway car on the outside and the guy standing next to me was going to lunch and stop the girls or trip them when they were walking out of the store, and his wife and i

pushed him back and said it's not worth it. they could have a gun. the police officers were not allowed to do anything in this, the girls got away and those thousand dollar pocketbooks will end up being sold online somewhere and there is nothing we can do. when you hear stories in california where if you steal less than $1,000 there is no penalty for it. the criminals know that. the guy who went to florida and was a criminal and said but i am from chicago and the police officers in florida said you are not in chicago anymore. you are getting locked up. we hear these stories, someone owns the wawa, someone owns that department store and many will say they have insurance. we are entitled to this, no you are not it's called stealing, it's theft. police officers are leaving because they are getting shot. our country is so crime-ridden, we are talking to this panel about crime and they are so concerned about it. those living in new york city are concerned and watch our backs we go to the atm and think about that, and look around. it didn't used to be like this

's speed to the midterm elections are a few weeks away so one of the top issues that parents are preparing for the polls as they are going to cast their votes? what issues? let's bring in our panel of virginia parents and we were just talking we have 5 minutes we will take a break and then five more so everyone gets one minute to say why it's important for them to be here because you risk being canceled in your communities. we will start we have bonnie who is the president of the parents association, bonnie, why? >> i want people to know, education is such an important issue and it should not be as much of an issue. our group came together, republicans, democrats putting party issues aside we all want our kids to have a good, quality education to support their schools, we want to support great teachers in our schools, but any time you object to something happening in the school system, it is painted as a partisan issue. i encourage parents around the country to pay attention to what is happening in their schools and to take things to their school board.

learning and education and the harm they have caused over the last two years needs to be fixed. they are the ones who need to fix it. >> ainsley: ron, you are running for county supervisor, why? >> that's right, 2023 and they ran for school board in 2019. and issues day-to-day how it all ends up and our kids need to be educated well in school and to be safe. those two have been well defined in the last couple of years between covid and whatnot and our techs always need to be spent accordingly. we need to h competent superintendents and board supervisors on each position to have this so that's why i am running for supervisor in 2023. >> ainsley: then you will be in charge of the money which will be allocated to the school board. >> that's correct. >> ainsley: amy why was it important for you to come and stand up for your kids? >> no matter how this goes, we don't know how elections are going to go. we hope and we look at the tea
