a choice when it comes to abortion. joe has more with answers and we begin tonight with what we are hearing from police organizations and why they are saying the defund the police message is a deadly message. >> that's right, since monday, a dozen police officers were shot nationwide, tweeted spewing of anti-police rhetoric by some media figures, as well as the failed policies of rogue prosecutors and judges are placing officers in greater danger. this culture of lawlessness must talk. and that includes an off-duty officer killed in north carolina last night.

the 15-year-old suspect killed five people including an officer. in two people killed a this weekend as well. the political climate is said to be to blame. >> this goes back to 2014. we have the michael brown, hands up, don't shoot. everybody got into this scenario, and it wasn't true. that opened the door, now we move onto the last two years, police officers have been demonized for the last two years. >> and bristol connecticut, wednesday, this 35-year-old sergeant in this 34-year-old officer was shot and killed. the two fallen officers responded to a 911 call for a didispute between siblings with the call was reportedly a deliberate act lured the law

[inaudible] >> i looked out of my window, there's a neighbor on the ground. >> we are learning more about the 15-year-old lead shooter, from people that went to school with him and rode the bus together. describing the suspect as quiet, saying he would only socialize with his brother, a 16-year-old, who was also killed. she said her son walked outside and saw a woman bumped over after being shot. along with the police officer that was headed to work, the police identified for others between seniors old and 52 years

america and the media coverage appears to be missing. bringing in rob o'donnell and jonathan fahey. this is from john, who is a retired member of police member. plus, we will get your take on the other side. let's watch this. >> the main function problem that we have at this time is that these politicians have stripped us of the most important tool that a police officer has, and it's not on his belt. it is respect. and when respect is taken away, the public does whatever they want to do and now we are seeing the results of this. >> i think that he is spot on when he says that. because when you lose the respect, when the police officers walk around doing the job that they have to do and they lose respect, they have nothing. what are your thoughts? >> 100%. for years now we have seen the

degradation including the men and women that wear the uniform which is creating an atmosphere in which we see the worst of it were 12 officers have been shot and like you said by the ambush attacks directly targeting law enforcement. to my putting up these numbers if i can, because 54 officers this year have died by gunfire so far. at 62 last year. i mean, we are only in october and this could be the deadliest year in the history of this country for the police officers, that is saying something after 2020 and 2021. >> that's right, it was up around 60% from the year before. already most likely going to pass that this year and i think it's a disgrace. but he hit a nail on the head that it's a lack of respect that is causing this and this

constant tearing down the police officers, pushing these false narratives for political purposes which started way back in 2014. it really hit the apex when the democrats saw this as an avenue for political gain, they are willing to just demonize law enforcement, promote false narratives and they don't care who was harmed and now we have the public and the police that are being harmed. >> and for me it seems sort of unfathomable when you think that we report more and more on these police officers being drawn into some kind of an ambush or being ambushed out as they are patrolling the streets, and yet there is no outbreak. where are the marches, the politicians and others saying that this cannot continue. >> absolutely. it's like the police in this nation are second-best citizens that they would rather just pretend these things are not

happening. but what is happening is the citizens that are dealing with the rise in crime, it's happening with them as well. you are starting to see the outrage, the rhetoric from the past is a major policy situation coming up in the midterms and hopefully we see change with the flow of what's going on 2 my nephew is a police'. trace: my nephew is a police officer and some wonder if seniors have their back. they say that they know that there's no air power coming behind them and it's kind of a lonely feeling out there. >> yes, you are right, nobody has their back. it used to be a bipartisan agreement that people supported the police officers in this country. disagree on everything else, but people stood behind the law

enforcement. but that changed in 2020 and it has been devastating ever since. i feel bad for your nephew because people don't always have the facts and if there's a chance to make political points and benefits out of them or anyone else, they are going to be more than willing to do this and we have seen them with the border patrol agents as of recent. they don't care, it's a means to an end. >> which begs the question how do we convince the young people to join the police departments and to join the military as it's getting harder and harder and we cannot hit the levels that we need to in the military and police departments are badly in need of officers around the country. >> yes, across the nation, military and law enforcement are struggling to replace who is inside law enforcement. we need to hold them accountable when they act, but they haven't

that the governor signed which will go into effect for all of illinois on january 1. since july 21, 225 people have left the office of kim fox. >> 235 people have resigned. even those that like her as a d.a., she is been a failure. what are your thoughts? >> well, it is a mess. ceo of mcdonald's called them a city and crisis. pritzker and the democrats and the super majority have all pushed business and families out of the state. so the number one problem at this time in illinois is crime and safety. almost 600 people have been murdered in the calendar year alone in chicago. thirty-one months, and every day

there's been a shooting and a death and, you know, this has to come to an end. >> even the governor is starting to talk tougher on crime. i think he sees the writing on the wall. >> there's movement taking place in illinois. telling you why, don't write them off. november 8, that's going to be a big day because we are going to do what i believe the rest of the nation has turned their backs on, which we are going to rectify by turning the state around. >> "the washington post," some others, they accused you of bashing the city of chicago, and i'm quoting the persistent anti-chicago rhetoric presenting a quandary for the candidate. criticism of the city and the democratic leadership is cheered on by the hard right. but he also needs the support of chicago and the surrounding suburbs to win in november. what are your final thoughts on that?
