joe: woke is back in session. students at wharton school of business can now major in subjects like diversity, equity and inclusion, or environmental, social, and governance factors for business. outside the classroom, investments in these woke fields are suffering. will diversity pay dividends? for that, we will turn to strive asset-management founder vivek ramaswamy. my first question on this, it sounds cool, going to the specialized field, are people hiring individuals with this skill set? >> this is a disaster but a simple business school lesson is embedded in it. if your tuition is going up and the value of what you learn goes down, you are getting a bad deal.
5:22 am
this fits the new lowered standards that many of these institutions like a glove. you want to talk about you pen, right next to the business school, they said for certain races, they require an mcat score to get in. it is accommodation of lower admission standards, lower value of what they are learning, business school student should learn about microeconomics and macroeconomics, not diversity, equity and inclusion as a major in and of itself but as these people get into the workforce it will affect their effectiveness as executives in corporate america, as investors and so on. bad for them, bad for the economy and bad for the country. joe: a lot of businesses bending the knee to woke america, are there businesses that are making it in their business because of the squeaky wheel getting the grease when it comes to this type of thing? >> this is rampant across corporate america.
5:23 am
for corporate america much of this is to deflect accountability for the issues they would rather not be talking about in creating a capital diversity department meant -- training, in the name of diversity, actually means conformity. but there could be some optimism in this as well. it is giving opportunity for hillsdale college to start a business school. i will give that advice but at the same time this could be the beginning of a pendulum shift in the other direction. a generation of business school alumni in the 1980s and 90s learned what milton friedman caught, the purpose of a corporation is to make products and services for profit. if you have a new generation learning the opposite maybe there is something about a graduate that wants to rebel against what they were taught, that could presage a pendulum swing in the other direction 10 to 20 years from now when they realize they didn't guess what they should have gotten and come back to their senses on their own.
