sent across the rio grande by masked smugglers. joey: they the border is wide open as my migrants continue te flow into the u.s. rachel: griff jenkins is live at the border again. griff, good morning. >> reporter: hey rachel, joey and pete. we had another big group come. they come every morning like clock work. i want to show you something we've not shown yet in the 15 days i've been on the ground here at eagle pass and that is the processing center. the bosses say the border is open. talk to the border patrol agents doing the hard work, they're told don't talk about the border being open, just process faster. here's why. look at this. had this is the processing center on the outskirts of eagle pass, put up about three months ago. if we can go to our sky drone, look how massive the tents are.

so let's start with the venezuelans. so first of all, there have been reports that nicolas maduro he be emptied out prisons and encouraged criminals to come this way. other people are saying, you know, that this title 24 that is used exclusively for venezuelans is because the biden administration doesn't want people who are against socialism to be the ones coming in because they were the majority group before. others saying there's something to do with the oil deals between nicolas maduro and the biden administration and this new title 42 process which keeps venezuelans in mexico and not able to come in with the other illegal migrants. what is happening? what's your assessment? >> reporter: great questions, rachel. and remember, we don't have diplomatic relations with the country of venezuela because of maduro so really nothing about what he may be doing or his intentions are actually confirmable or verifyable. we know this, that is that title

help us. this poll from fox newses was between the ninth and 12th of october for registered voters. which issues do voters say the gop handles better. if you look at the first 10 minutes of the hour, the first one makes sense, border security, republican plus 21. crime, plus 15. and inflation, plus 13. foreign policy considering the state of the world, plus 9. a lot of advantages for the republicans to press. joey: and a there's another poll following this one up and i want to bring this up now because when you cross reference these two polls you'll see something. this is a poll asking respondents if they're extremely or very concerned about what -- kind of rank which topics they're extremely or very concerned about. at the top is inflation, higher prices. and that's at 89%. after that's higher crime rates, then political division, russia/ukraine situation and it's a list of about 1 spark spk a 12 or 15 spinnings, border security is toward the bottom.

if you cross reference, republicans are plus 15 on crime, plus 13 on inflation. that's the top two things they say 89 and 79% are. you're starting to see that republicans should be doing really well in the elections coming up because the things that people are most concerned about, they think republicans have a better handle on. rachel: sos there's a reason i made my podcast from the kitchen table because the kitchen table is really where the rubber meets the road in terms of politics and so we have also on the fox news poll an understanding of where your family has had to cut back to afford necessities. so look at this poll. it says that in july -- in march of 2022, 67% said they had to cut back a lot and now it's up to 71%. joey: heading in the wrong direction. rachel: it's going in the wrong direction. if you talk to any of our fox business hosts and correspondents who are so good

and have their pulse on what's happening, they don't see inflation is going to -- it's going to going higher and higher. pete: not so transitory at this point. even with what the federal reserve is doing raising interest rates is not effective. another question asked national economic conditions, is it getting better or worse? this is usually falling if the lap of whoever is in the white house at that moment. 73% saying that the economic conditions in america are getting worse. obviously that includes democrats and eu independents if you're looking at a number like 73. democrats, what they're running in campaign ads, it's abortion, climate and this is underneath what's going going on with highr crime rates. what's going on in schools, 10 years ago, would that be on the list. rachel: i did a segment with charlie hurd and alexandra will, and we talked about obama going

to states that are in play and democrats are struggling and i asked do you think this will help them and it was interesting,a alexandra wilkes said, look, the 2016 election was about obama voters, that election turned on obama voters who voted for trump. pete: be i heard her say that, yeah. rachel: and she said what have the democrats done to win those back? look at the topics you just said. that they're focused on. abortion -- pete: election denial and climate a change. joey: all at the bottom of the poll. rachel: they insulted the working class voters, insulted them, called them them racist aa they're not talking about the things that are important to the voters. joey: democrats, especially president biden are moving away from the issues that the progressives took up, election denial, voter fraud,

saying that the economy is strong and i think if you can't afford groceries, if you're trying to figure out what trips i can take to take my kid to soccer or school or whatever because it's heart arrested tod to fill up the gas tank and your leader is saying the economy is strong, this isn't just i'm not going to vote for him, you're angry at him. it's an insult. this is an insult. this is the kind of stuff that comes out of communist countries when they have a ministry of truth. this is a lie. the economy has never been worse. inflation is at a 40-year high. and it was only a couple years ago under the trump administration that a we were living under the best economy in all of our lifetime so people are not stupid. they know what a good economy feels like. they don't have to think back 15 years for it. they know what it was. pete: there are questions whether they can evi eventually deliver but republicans like kevin mccarthy and others are smart to laser in on border

security, crime and inflation. that's where people's heads and hearts are right now. turning to additional headlines this morning including this. california police arresting a suspected serial killer while he was allegedly out hunting for new victims. authorities taking wesley brown lee into custody overnight yesterday. police say they studied his patterns, arresting him while he allegedly stalked an apartment building with a gun wearing dark clothes and mask around his neck. l he'll face charges they in connection with seven shootings that killed six people and wounded a seventh in stockton and oakland, california, going back to last year. and a fire breaking of out yesterday at the notorious iranian prison where many political prisoners are he detained in tehran. iranian state media a says four prisoners died and another 61 have been injured. it's still unclear if the fire is related to the anti-government protests that have gripped the country for the past few weeks but hundreds of

pete: thousands of soldiers now have a criminal record. despite never being charged with a crime. the army's investigation of a now defunct recruiting program largely started in 2006, 2007, accusing recruiters of giving cash incentives for newcomers to the national guard. alexandria huff is live in washington to help us explain. >> reporter: many of the soldiers are no idea they had an arrest record until they were denied a job or permit for a weapon. it stems from an investigation

that started about a decade ago, titled task force raptor, believed to be the army's largest investigation in history. the task at hand was to look into over 106,000 soldiers who were paid by the national guard recruiting assistance program and smaller counter part. the programs sought to increase enlistments by offering a cash reward for referrals and it did that, bringing in 150,000 new army recruits. but by 2012 it came under scrutiny due to the company that was contracted to run it and while the whole program was deemed illegal since the payments exceeded what congress allotted the army for bonuses. in comes in task force raptor to investigate possible fraud. while 137 soldiers ended up being charged, over 2500 soldiers were simply flagged or titled as part of the investigation. but the entry alone into the army's criminal investigation's log showed up like an arrest for felony when the information was uploaded into the fbi's criminal

interest rates continue to go higher and the next federal reserve meeting is november 1st and 2nd and we are expecting another 75 basis point hike in the federal reserve fed funds rate. what does that do to industry? it just makes what you're paying for things more expensive. take a look at housing. this is where you really see what has taken place, housing starts have plummeted. construction materials are up in price. and those people who are going to buy a home are now thinking twice, why, because interest rates, the 30-year mortgage fixed rate is close to 7%. that's a double to where it was just a year ago. so people are going to buy a home and realizing that their mortgage payment is now going to be hundreds and hundreds of dollars more than they thought every month so they're saying forget it. i can't buy that house right now. i better rent. then they go to rent an apartment, they go to rent a home and they're getting major sticker shock because the price of shelter, rent skyrocketed as well. what has not moved at all and
