i think it can help you and others in your life. you can preorder it right now, thank you for spending parts of your sunday with us, good night from south carolina. "life, liberty and levin" is next. with an exclusive interview with former israeli prime minister netanyahu. >> we have we have an exclusive special guest tonight. the former prime minister of israel who is in the longest-serving prime minister of israel. in four americans we have not
5:01 pm
heard much from the prime minister. but you should know he's running for prime minister. my fingers are crossed because we need a strong israel. and he has written a book that is so fantastic it is called beebe my story. it is his real story it's america's story. it's a world story. it's a narrative where he walks through from early in life up to really current day. it's very fascinating. interesting the interaction with various american presidents and secretaries of state. i went to start not at the beginning mr. prime minister i went to start with something that is existenial to both of our countries. that is the regime in iran. now, president trump pretty much at his foot on the throat of this regime. he got rid of the deal the obama administration had negotiated.
5:02 pm
president biden is begging the same regime to sign something, anything. even though the regime keeps thumbing its nose at the united states and is working at breakneck speed to get their nukes, what do you make of this? >> will be the height of folly to enable i want to get nuclear weapons. i think what we are seeing in the world today is the danger of having aggression armed with nuclear weapons. that was ironic, the ayatollahs nuclear weapons is the worst thing you can possibly imagine. they chanted death to israel. they also chanted death to america. where the small stay tuned you are the big stay tuned. they develop nuclear weapons and the memes to deliver them to everyone in your cities, then you'll be held hostage forever. you've already seen what it's like we have a rogue regime like north korea and half of agent is quaking in fear they just fired
5:03 pm
a missile over the skies of japan. i can possibly reach you two. but to have the ayatollahs that are committed to the destruction of our way of life, chanting death to america. have them have nuclear weapons is nothing short of folly. and it has to be stopped. i've devoted a lot of my time to stopping it. and i think that any responsible policy on the part of the united states should do that. but should not facilitate this iran deal that basically pays a high white with gold with billions of dollars for iran to become a threshold. this should work the opposite. it should put crippling sanctions on iran an incredible military threat to prevent them from acquiring the weapons of mass death. spieth do you think site has been effective in confronting firearms? >> no i don't. they give lip service to the opposition.
5:04 pm
to the upcoming nuclear deal because the majority of the public is against it. but, the opposition is to go to the un as i didn't draw a redline. go to the u.s. congress as i did which was a very difficult decision to go to a joint session of congress and to oppose the policies of a sitting president or the united states is an indispensable ally was not an easy thing to do print and write about in my book of memoirs. i debated with myself long and hard. when i said you have a regime that's openly calling for the annihilation of the jewish state, is openly trying to develop atomic bombs to that affect, i had a choice. i did in every form and every television program on every meeting with leaders. i wish i see that now but i don't. that is not change affect iran's nuclear weapons threaten us. but they also threaten you and
5:05 pm
they threaten the peace of the world. you do not want a fanatical islamist regime be armed nuclear weapons. >> the book is "bibi: my story". you can get it at "bibi: my story".com. you can get it at amazon.com. any major books are in the united states you can get it as well. what would your relationship? you're right about these things in the book i want americans and others to know this and much more detail. what was your relationship like with barack obama? >> it started out in a superintendent janitor's office and the national airport in washington. i was leaving washington he was coming. he was a center to them. we actually had a good meeting. i look forward to cooperating with them in case he would be elected i was running and he was running. we both got elected we met again in israel. and i said look, he said to know what i said to him we both came out of opposite sides of the
5:06 pm
political spectrum. but we are pragmatic enough to work together for our country's interest or at least so i hoped. and in some things we did. but i think with the ironic question on the palestinian question we always parted. i thought that obama was not a weak person. i thought he was strongly committed to his beliefs. they were just in my opinion on these crucial matters the wrong beliefs. we had an inevitable clash when i realize he was pursuing a deal nominally. to prevent iran from getting nuclear weapons. cited in kicking the can for forward. as allowing ironic and international seal of approval to become a threshold nuclear state with the breakout time that obama himself would be zero and a few years he said that on pbs interview. breakup time to nuclear weapon.
5:07 pm
so i thought this is something i cannot accept credit cannot accept the idea of containing a soft to apply everything i had including when necessary taking the very difficult decision of confronting a sitting american president and his policies. and i did it. we ate and then joe biden finally on this subject the prime minister for period of time when he was in it. and hamas raining missiles down on your country you talk about this in your book. what was joe biden's reaction? question i have known it since he was a young senator and washington and i came there as a deputy ambassador. he always says beebe i love you i don't agree the word you're
5:08 pm
saying. i suggest sometimes i put i reciprocate that. we retaliated obviously and tried to knock out their missile launchers which they had placed in neighborhoods. initially it was supported. and he was supported through the right to exercise self-defense. he was under great pressure from a certain wing of the democratic party. he started saying and it, and it, and he says no i got to keep on going until we accomplish our objective. it took about ten days for us to accomplish our objective. but eventually i would say the american pressure that at the point we completed the obje objective. didn't get to point of confronting it biden is sympathetic reflects on the
5:09 pm
palestinian question is also misdirected and trying to be a diplomat here it's wrong. and wrong for america to effectively seek to contain an iranian nuclear weapon. to say we going to have it anyway, let them have it. >> no, they have to be stopped for you do not want a regime that believes the destruction of america to have the memes to carry out that action or even to threaten you with that. that is something that will not advance peace. i think you need strong leadership to reinstate a crowd about military threat on iran. that is the only thing that will stop them. look at the rogue countries and i write this in my book. look at the rogue countries that try to develop nuclear weapons. one was saddam hussein's iraq it was stopped by action. the second was sierra, it does
5:10 pm
also stop by israeli military. the third was libya that was stopped by threat of american military action. and fearing he would be taken out. the fourth was north korea. there is not military threat there is a series of agreements that north korea violated. the result is that of nuclear arsenal that can threaten you. the fifth is iran that for one year alone after the second gulf war thought america would take action against it so they suspended their nuclear program. after year they realize there is no such threat. they have been going at it. as i've said i've devoted a good many years including all of my tenure as prime minister to do everything in my power to stop them. stop them through military action, political action, stop them through programs like this. i think it requires also
5:11 pm
american leadership to stop ironic. to to prevent iran from having nuclear weapons. the proposed agreement as the opposite of what is required. >> it looks like president trump realize that and understood t that. and got out at that iran don't put economic sanctions on iran. looks like he saw the same with the palestinians pretty cut off funding for the palestinians he could see that they were giving money to terrorist activities and so forth. and then the biden administration reverses course almost across the board. adopt obama policies and institutes those. and so now we have a situation where the palestinians are committing more acts of terrorism against israelis. the saudis are moving towards the chinese and the russians. you had more peace deals, for during your prime minister ship and all of the prime minister's combined before you.
5:12 pm
sounds to me like we are heading in the wrong direction. >> i hope you can change that direction in a few weeks. of course it depends on the result of the elections. but yes look, for a quarter of a century the prevalent wisdom among the elites of israel and the west was the only way israel will break out to more peace agreements with arab countries is by having an agreement with the palestinians. peace with the palestinians. now that may sound logical but it wasn't actually placed an impossible barrier. the palestinians did not want peace with israel, they wanted peace without israel. they did not the state to israel they want estate instead of israel. so they vetoed any agreements after two peace of ribs with egypt and jordan for 25 years we could not get any peace agreements because everybody had the slogan you got a piece of the palestinians. and i said no. effective the other way around
5:13 pm
you do not let the palestinian tail wag the body of the arab world. what you do is go around the palestinians and you make peace with the broader arab world and then maybe you will get the palestinians to curb their rejection to israel. that as we ended up doing. and it happened because of the increased power of israel that we had been able to achieve through economic reforms, free markets through military reforms and through diplomatic prowess that combine the two. it is a peace through strength through the iron triangle of peace economic strength, military strength, diplomatic strength. it paved the way for peace agreements. statement may come back mr. prime minister want to pursue that. the iron triangle of strength. hard power, soft power coming right but all this in your book. your book is a "bibi: my story". you can get it at "bibi: my

confederacy and where the bloodiest battles wars of american history to give those angles and opportunity. you need hard power but there's one in the world today to understand is that free democratic countries have to be strong and have to have the leadership to apply strength judiciously but to apply it against those who seek our destruction or the destruction of our way of life. so i am devoted a good part of my life to ensuring israel, the country of the jewish people who did not have any power for centuries and were massacred, exiled, leading to the worst massacre of the world the holocaust we would never be defenseless and we would have the power. the problem was you need an army. everybody understood that. but the other problem is f35, submarines, drones, intelligence, cyber at all cost money. when you get the money? the only way to get money in my

view it was not there high-tech socialist economy that israel had basically was to transform it through a free market revolution into a capitalist economy. i devoted much of my time as finance minister, i served in that capacity as well and prime minister to affect a free market revolution israel. not all because i believe in it because it was the indispensable instrument to give israel the memes to shore up its military, it's intelligence, cyber capability. what happened was the combination of israeli civilian technology which is outstanding in israeli military technology which is outstanding, gave us a third of power which is diplomatic power. country started coming to israel because they needed us. we did not have to go to them because we needed them. that place israel had its rise on the ladder of the nations.
