the pain it will cause us. he is blocking way to make our own as much as he can. 1984 was the last time we were tapping oil like we were tapping beer in america. today's sale marks the end of the 180 million drawdown biden announced in the spring. the white house is warning there could be more of this sort of move on the horizon. so i mentioned that we're really getting low. what's that going to look like? but they said this a few weeks ago. >> so we're not considering new releases from the strategic petroleum reserve beyond the 180 million which is what you are speaking about, about the 1 million that the president announced months ago. we don't have anything more to share and we won't be considering new releases. >> harris: her pants are literally on fire because that was not true. the president trying to contain rising gas prices but fears now growing that it will do exactly

we sold at about $100 and buy it back when prices go down to about $70. that's critical because that's what the industry in the united states needs to know to invest today in increasing production. so we want to see as companies increasing production today. >> the financially irresponsible ones according to the white house are oil companies. the white house claims big oil executives are not passing along their savings to consumers. >> if president biden keeps going to the petroleum reserves when there are energy problems is he giving up on his campaign pledge to end fossil fuel? >> i want to be very clear on that piece. there is no shortage of opportunity or incentive for oil companies to ramp up production. we've made that clear. oil companies are raking in record profits as we have seen. >> we also know at the same time this administration hopes to eliminate most fossil fuel

8:05 am
stopping the keystone pipeline, allowing putin to connect his pipeline nord stream 2 to europe and we're not producing the oil and then we have to beg opec, right? of all things have to go to the middle east and beg the saudis to produce more oil. this is very dangerous. it's a dangerous policy. >> dana: is there anything going on that we should know about in terms of russia's role in this? the president often, you know, will go down that lane via his press secretary. >> yeah, putin and his pipeline into europe in order steam 2, why did the president of the united states waive and allowing putin to connect the pipeline. he wants to shut ukraine off to the black sea. it is an energy issue and always a national security issue. we talk about energy. the biden's creation, the biden administration's failed policies that have created this crisis that we're in.
8:06 am
we're going into the mid-terms and harris i'm telling you, i hear all time back home, inflation and gas prices. >> harris: it's interesting because the president is criticized for flipping the border policies that trump had in place but he was flipping congressional policies or legislation that had been put in place, too, with regard to energy. that's fascinating to hear from you. the other part about this is biden was so slow to stop buying russian oil when the war against ukraine first started and now i'm curious, he was tapping reserve then. where -- what options do we have when that gets so low it is not an option anymore? >> he has canceled all the options and now has to be green energy. you can't -- you can't do that overnight. >> harris: congressman, we all know that the majority of green energy is provided for -- through fossil fuel and coal. so what is he saying? it's not even possible to transition at this point because we still need the fossil fuels. >> it is not the flip of the
8:07 am
switch, you're right. we were going to put l and g terminals into europe to create more energy produced in the united states and send to europe. it was part of our strategic plan, if you will. he has turned it into politics and boi, it's a disaster. >> harris: here is senator cotton in "focus" yesterday calling out democrats. >> the democrats want energy prices to be high because they want to end american production of fossil fuels, oil and gas and coal. they may not say it in the 45 days before an election and they rely on gimmicks like releasing oil from the strategic petroleum reserve which is dangerous to our national security. mark my words, on november 9th the democrats will go back to wage war on american oil, gas and coal. >> harris: what do our enemies see at this point? >> they see weakness. we are projecting weakness. we can't develop our own energy. after the fall and debacle of afghanistan what did putin see?
8:08 am
weakness. what does xi in china see and everywhere else? that's why the hot spots are flaring up all over the globe making the world a more dangerous place because any time you project weakness you invite aggression and it goes back to chamberlain and hitler to reagan talking about peace through strength. >> harris: i was just writing this down as examples. so iran sent fighters to help russia take as much of ukraine as it can. force the ukrainians back to the table to take that piece that russia can call victory. then what is china doing? xi just said hey, with my next term can you build the military? not just technology but really build almost double in size. which would leave us conceivably outnumbered if we had to ever do anything. >> russia is buying iranian drones going into crimea, when you see the cities a third of the infrastructure being

help the decades-high inflation come down. you know the inflation reduction act didn't actually reduce inflation. never could. the unrelenting price spike has led bloomberg to this grim projection. 100% of recession in the next year. peter doocy was asking the tough questions as he always does. >> how is it that we can be barreling towards a recession and the economy is, as the president says, strong as hell? >> what we're seeing right now is the job market is strong, the labor force is strong, and that is not what we see usually before a recession. and so in a lot of that is because of the work that this president has done. >> harris: what is she talking about? >> look, we have the american rescue plan. i call it the american inflation plan. they have this inflation reduction act. it is not reducing inflation.
8:11 am
they've thrown gasoline on the fire by spending so much money. remember american rescue, $2 trillion being propped into the economy and that's why we have this inflation that's going on right now. now the fed monetary policy is to raise the interest rates and try to catch up with this inflation and they will cause a recession in the process. we're going into a recession right now. >> harris: we already are. we've seen back-to-back quarters of lower gdp and that's just one of the indicators we mix in, but a key one. the problem now is going to be that people's dollars, we're already missing a month's worth of salary based on the inflation we have right now. all the bills we pay and food we eat we would need to make 13 month's salary in order to pay for it all. >> right. it's about affordability. can you pay your rent, buy a house when interest rates are going up. can you eat, buy groceries, can you buy gas that's going up.
8:12 am
how about your retirement plan? we've seen a 20% reduction in all of our retirement plans. >> harris: i've had because i've been traveling recently one of the places i went to was your state to see the border. people are saying any nest egg is destroyed. in my late 60s, early 70s. we don't have jobs to wait it out anymore. we have left the job market. it's a heartbreaker. >> it has political ramifications. when people have anxiety about their nest egg being 20% taken out of it, when they were retiring and now they are thinking about having to go back to work, it is not good. >> harris: let's get to this because it really is what you are an expert on in terms of homeland security and the border. hundreds of people who would love to cross into our nation, many from venezuela, have assembled a caravan and hit
8:13 am
guatemala and their border first making their way toward the u.s. look at their forces fending off trying to hold their border. and look how small that area is. our area is 1933 miles long with maybe some chunks of wall because our president doesn't really want to secure it. can you imagine that little bit is what they're facing. all of this comes after president biden invoked the trump era title 42 to send venezuelan illegals back to mexico. he did that a few days ago. we were getting inundated and so are now the northern triangle countries we promised we would be xw neighbors with. the policy will allow as many as 24,000 venezuelans to be accepted into our country as long as they have a sponsor. congressman, you are looking for answers on that new policy. i know you wrote a letter to secretary of state blinken and homeland security secretary mayorkas. a pull-out from your letter.
8:14 am
it seems more likely to serve as a magnet for additional migrants from venezuela and elsewhere. why did you write that? >> because first of all this whole policy of reversing remain in mexico and the migrant protection protocols has created this chaos at the border. we see 3.5 million illegals come into this country. we can't absorb this. they have no legal status. in addition, enough fentanyl to kill the entire population seven times over. we have almost 100,000 young people dying just this year alone from fentanyl. and it is killing a generation. but why are we going to let venezuelans in by airplane, right, if they have a sponsor and then deny them entry at the border if we can deny venezuelans at the border why not the rest of them? >> harris: it's a lot more surup tishous that way. harder to track. you don't have reporters to get the cameras of all things left at the border as they take off
8:15 am
everything and leave behind all sorts of unmentionables to try to get into this country and crawl through fencelines. remember how they were moving the minors in those night flights to places like tennessee. senator blackburn told me about that. they're harder to track. at the border we can see them. >> we're busing them out of my state to new york and to d.c. and so you can get a taste of what we experience every day in my state of texas. >> harris: it's working. democrats are responding. >> they are seeing the pain the policy has inflicted on the nation. when you talk about 100,000 young people dying, that's more than vietnam over 20 years. >> harris: wow. we'll have that be the last word. thank you, i appreciate you being here. >> thanks. >> harris: a tough detail. georgia reported record early voting numbers after the left cried jim crow 2.0 over the state's new election law.
8:16 am
well, what are they saying now? conservative critics are calling them out because people are definitely voting. plus democrats and president biden himself putting abortion front and center with 20 days to go until the mid-terms. will anything they're trying at this point work for them? >> all they're left with is abortion. and we know how the democrats love to operate. they operate based on emotion. we all know the truth. put it in the hands of the people. it is ridiculous. >> harris: voters have said they have bigger concerns. democrats seem intent on putting their eggs in one basket. jason chaffetz is in "focus" next. veteran homeowners, need cash? with the newday 100 loan, there are no upfront costs for appraisal or termite inspections. no upfront costs at all to get the cash you need. veterans get more at newday. ♪ ♪

8:22 am
and for all. the mid-term elections are critical to elect more democratic senators to the united states senate and keep control of the house of representatives. if we do that, here is the promise i make to you and the american people. the first bill that i will send to the congress will be to codify roe versus wade. >> harris: why didn't they do that in the past when they had majorities in the white house? you could ask the last two or three democrat presidents that. they have a reason. wonder what it is? president biden with a big promise on abortion. a hard one to fulfill with a closely divided senate. current congress has made unsuccessful attempts to codify roe. the dem-led house passed a women's health and protection act in july but failed to advance in the senate. "wall street journal" says his speech is a political bet that stressing abortion will drive more suburban women to the polls and save democrats.
8:23 am
at least mr. biden is telling voters what his party's priority is. not easing the price of gasoline or groceries, either. reporters asked the white house press secretary about the president's position and whether he would reverse individual state's abortion restrictions. watch this. >> number one. would that bill codify roe or would it go farther and overturn individual state abortion restrictions? number two, are there any abortion restrictions at all that the president would support? >> what the president is going to do and wants to do and believes in doing is codifying roe. he believes that is what was the law of the land, the constitutional right for almost 50 years and he believes in it specifically. >> that didn't answer either question. >> he believes in roe and how it stood before the dobbs decision. >> harris: and that reporter kept going at it.

good for him. jason chaffetz fox news contributor, former utah congressman. she doesn't want to answer that question because i'm certain her boss has told her don't answer that question. >> it's not in the notebook so it is not going to get answered. as you pointed out, harris, the reality is the democrats have the house and senate and the presidency. they failed to pass the bill that the president promises he would do next term when their numbers are worse. the reason he didn't is because it was so radical. there were no limits and so people on the republican side of the aisle who sometimes vote in favor of pro-abortion bills like susan collins and lisa mer kowski, they thought it was so radical even they couldn't support it. and they've got to answer this question. what limits would there be? the president's position thus far as best we can tell based on the bills that are moving through congress is that right up until the baby is literally crowning that you can go in
8:25 am
there and kill that baby. and it is such a radical position. i don't know where in the world they think they are going to get away with that. that's where they placed all their marbles in this election right now. >> harris: democratic women that i've spoken to the years i've done elections have told me why this didn't get codified in the past. because of the language that you were just talking about being used and the facts you were using because women want a way to come together on this issue and if you don't divide us, it is amazing what we can accomplish. i just question how all of this gets done without that actually happening? and do democrats get their money back if he makes promises he can't keep? anyway -- >> look, the problem for the democrats is the policies that they implemented on crime, on immigration, on inflation, on energy, all of those things actually got implemented. there were changes from what we were doing under donald trump and the republicans.
8:26 am
look at the consequence. they have no answers to that. the "wall street journal" editorial was pitch perfect today. they have no answers on the policies that people care about most. that's the bottom line. that's why i think there will be a red wave in both the house and senate. >> harris: democrats are keeping the topic on abortion and going all in. some critics say this ad from congressman eric swalwell goes too far. >> mary anderson? >> yes. >> i have a warrant for your arrest. >> arrest for what? >> penal code 243 violation. unlawful termination of a pregnancy. >> that is my personal business. >> that's for the courts to decide, ma'am. >> harris: swalwell posted the ad on twitter saying maga republicans want women arrested for having an abortion. this is what that looks like. wow. now remember who we're talking about here, just to put it into

8:28 am
they've oversold it. the people that were going to vote abortion as their number one issue were already going to vote for the democrats. now it's just hey, can we get the people out to vote? but the more moderate people, the people with a conservative bent i think they come in droves to the republican party because we actually as republicans they have something to offer the people. >> harris: last year we heard cries from the left over georgia's new election law. they were claiming it would lead to voter suppression. watch this. >> tonight's lead jim crow 2.0. >> it is the most pernicious thing. it makes jim crow looks like jim eagle. >> remnants of jim crow. revivals and attempted revival of jim crow. >> jim crow kkk-like caucus. >> their strategy right now is to pass racist voting laws, a new jim crow in the south. >> harris: as it turns out the
