they are genuinely concerned about the direction of the country and they are asking for a change. speak to you electing katie porter who is the vice chair of the progressive caucus to electing a republican would be a wild swing. what are the polls saying about your chances? >> it's a big swing. in 2018 katie porter ran, she was new to this world and it was a tough year for republicans and she won and in 2020 her opponent didn't have very much money. this time she has a record. it's not a very pretty record. i have the money and we are exposing her record and that's why the voters are coming my way and that's why i'm leading in the polls. >> todd: have democrats come so out of touch with real americans, the concerns and the fears of everyday americans, a california residents quite aren't even on board with the democrat policies and you just assume californians are going to be on board with?

>> that's right. the democrat party has lost all common sense. you can't spend your way into disparity, taxiway into prosperity. if you don't enforce the law, people are going to break the law a lot more and that's what's going on. you see it in our big cities. you can hardly visit them anymore without stepping over some criminal element there. the voters are tired. they want a change. >> i'm sure they want to change in one particular area which will be gas prices for the president was in your state, the highest gas prices in the country and he was asked about this and his response was, well, gas prices have always been high in california. karine jean-pierre also addressed gas prices nationally and alluded to the fact that people should feel lucky and grateful because gas prices have fallen from their summer highs. i'm sure your constituents, the people you hope to represent don't feel grateful for where gas prices are right now.
