in 2022 they put his political opponents in jail. steve bannon will join us. first welcome to "tucker carlson tonight." it feels like washington has always hated trinity. -- donald trump. that's not true. for years he was considered a joke in washington, d.c. that was true as the latest 2016 primaries. many professional republicans that were making positive noises about donald trump. it changed in a moment. it changed on february 13th of that year at the republican debate in south carolina which donald trump criticized the iraq war. obviously it was a big fat mistake he said. it was obvious it was a mistake. that doesn't mean you were allowed to admit it in washington. you weren't. thousands of lobbyists and

journalists owed their salaries and reputations to perpetuating the lie that american foreign policy was succeeding. no one believed that but everyone had to say it. here was donald trump refusing to play along and giving away the game in public in tv. the reaction in d.c. was donald trump must be stopped. god knows what else he might say. the never trump movement that resulted from that year's south carolina debate went on to do all kinds of things like subverting the rule of law. the first effort was a spoiler campaign designed to siphon votes from trump in the general election. a group of liberals in washington recruited

a bureaucrat mcmullen and convinced him to run for president. he was 40 years old and never married and very odd. liberals were happy to write him checks. the voters were not impressed by mcmullen. he won half of 1% of the total and zero electoral votes. yet, here's the point, 6 years later, evan mcmullen is running for senate in utah against the incumbent mike lee and he could win. if mcmullen wins, his vote could give democrats control of the u.s. senate. how is this possible? it doesn't make sense. utah is a conservative and republican state. mcmullen has the same world view as pete buttigieg, a liberal

democrat. but he is not running as a liberal democrat and that's the key to his success. he is running as an independent. many voters appear to be under the impression he is independent. but he is not. that's a lie. mcmullen is as independent as kamala harris is. he is less independent than omar il ilhan. ilhan omar. he uses the democratic fund-raising program act blue -- co founded by a biden advisor. there are blueprint public affairs, all democratic party firms. in politics you pick a side in the consultants you hire. mcmullen picked his side, the democratic side.

the creepy liberals at the lincoln project are pretending that mcmullen is not one of them. repub republicans, mcmullen represents your values. really? which values are those? did he oppose amnesty for illegal immigrants or oppose tony fauci? he can't acknowledge that roe v. wade was a bad decision. he is a liberty robot. nothing independent about him. watch him read the democratic party talking points on ab abortion. >> i am committed to the sanctity of life. that means the lives of women and the lives of unborn of course and the lives of

children. we have to take a more comprehensive abortion. >> you don't support overturning roe v. wade as did you in 2016? >> i do not think that is the way for the country to move forward on this issue. >> tucker: oh, so keeping roe v. wade is the way for the country to move forward. but roe v. wade froze everything in 1973 and imposed the most radically pro-abortion laws in all 50 states. this doesn't make sense. it's pro-abortion. you don't typically hear mormons talk like that. mcmullen did not used to talk like this. in 2016 he denounced donald trump because he said trump was not pro-life enough. i am the only pro-candidate in the race in 2016.

4 years later. he clarified what he means when he says pro-life. being pro-life has nothing to do with protecting children. he said: you are not pro-life if you can't say black lives matter. black lives matter which is a pro-choice organization. are you following this? it doesn't make any sense. he is a liberal democrat. that would be fine if he ran as one. utah voters should know who they are voting for and he should be honest about who he is. if you paid attention to mcmullin's last 3 years in public life it's obvious. in 2020 he endorsed joe biden because he cares about republican values. watch. >> for many choosing between these two americas requires us to do something we have never done before:

crossing party lines to support a unifying presidential candidate of another party. i believe joe to be an honorable patriot who is loyal to the republic lick. i plan to put country over party and cast my vote for joe -- >> tucker: vote for joe biden who not one time in his life put country over party. after endorsing biden for office and let's of people did. don't call it independent. mcmullin did not act independently. just the opposite. he got his opinions from karine-jean pierre. there is not a stupid democratic buzz phrase he is not over-use again and again. here's one. he accuses a majority of house republicans voting to overturn the election results. >> to see that deadly insurrection happen that

threatened our democracy and watch a majority of house republicans still vote to overturn the results of the election, all of that just describes a party that is sick that, is rotten to the core. >> tucker: okay. he is an msnbc contributor. that's what he is. if the voters of utah want to laboratory one just elect joy reid. she doesn't pretend to be something she is not and probably smarter than mcmullin. no one voted to overturn the results of the election. not a majority of the house republicans. republicans did what democrats did in 1969 and 2001 and 2005 and 2017. republicans objected to the certification of the results pending an audit. that's what happened. we watched. but mcmullin doesn't mention those dates because he is just repeating talking points he gets

happening. something surprising in a good way. new york is an overwhelmingly democratic state. no republican will get elected governor of new york obviously. but this year a republican looks like he may be elected governor of new york. zeldin is running against kathy hochul. he was not elected but appointed. kathy hochul has made new york must more dangerous. robberies are up 34%. murders in the subway system are as high as they have been in a quarter century. that's the population of the center of the state kathy hochul

of on the criminals. kathy hochul wants to get rid of all gas powered vehicles over the next decade. we had the new cdc guidance come out adding the covid vaccine to their list. you have a governor who is talking about a consideration that maybe she would mandate that for kids. office already required on college students and people getting fired for their refusal to get the covid vaccine like healthcare workers. i believe there should be no covid vaccine on anyone. grade school, employment or otherwise. everyone who was fired should get their jobs back, with back pay. the contrast is clear. and democrats and independents are saying we have to go another direction. kathy hochul has to go and she will on november 8.

swing states failed to preserve voter data from the 20election. -- 2020 election. that's a violation of federal law. there were discrepancy between the number of voters and the number of ballots cast. there was a difference of 15,000 votes in one county. how bad the record keeping is. one of our producers just received a voter card to vote in miami dade county in the mid-terms even though he hasn't lived there for 15 years. he joins us now. hogan, what did you find? >> in the law they are violating is the civil rights act of 1960

which requires states to preserve and maintain these lists and voter data for 22 months after a federal election. we did go into these 14 states. we looked at the topmost populated country, 100 of them. only 6 managed to keep any data whatsoever. it was egregious when he looked at the numbers. it gets worse because we looked at the number of voters who voted and compared that to the number of baltlots cast. they didn't match and the officials had no answers. rick scott won his last election by 10,000 votes. cobb county, georgia, we found 34 thousands discrepency.

you would not let this happen at your bank. if you gave them $100 the slip should come back and say 100. what if it said 50? these numbers don't match. these laws are violated across the country. the elected officials are stupid, lazy, ignorant or malicious and they are violating federal law. we are working with the secretary of the state on the ground to make sure we can get to the bottom of this and make sure they retain this data for the upcoming federal election. it would be easier to check up on it. here's the big problem. the person that has to actually enforce the 1960 civil rights act is merrick garland and the doj am do you think they will take their off of trying to call
