eric. eric: let's bring in nick, retired philadelphia police officer. what is going on in the city of brotherly love? >> this here, this isn't the first time he's released a murderer into the streets of philadelphia. this guy larry krasner, he's stacked up and released 2000 bodies. there's no other to describe, he's a lunatic, a present danger to citizens in philadelphia. unmitigated disaster in his policies are breaking the back of the city. complete mayhem in the streets of philadelphia. we had two young ladies raped our public transit center on two different days last week. a police officer assaulted by atvs and dirt bikes, stoning and hitting police vehicle with bikes, something never seen

brings the total for fiscal year 2022 more than 2.3 million, another record. bill melugin is live with the latest in texas. >> good afternoon the federal government released the numbers very late last night, past 11:00 p.m. eastern time on a friday night. the numbers are historic. in the month of september alone, cbp reporting to 27000 migrant encounters at the southern border, the highest september ever recorded in dhs history, the numbers showing the school year 2022 ended with well over 2.3 million migrant encounters for the fiscal year, that's the highest school year ever recorded and showed fiscal year 2022 ended 98 people arrested on the fbi's terror watch list by border patrol at the seven order. it's almost quadruple previous five years combined. the numbers are not slowing

thank you. arthel: and we are going to get more on this from lieutenant chris with texas department of public safety. tenant, you and i spoke two weeks ago, thanks for coming back. the pictures from bill's report and numbers remain astounding, has your department of public safety been able to change operating procedures in the last two weeks? is there anything you been able to do to ease your burden? >> good afternoon and great to be with you again. first, those numbers and the video is staggering to see, it's a daily occurrence on the southern border but in terms of border operations with operation lone star, one thing we see an increase in his human smuggling events along the southern bo border. the federal government in operation, safe and expelling it as well as but that is not impacting what we are doing,

majority of what we are seeing predominantly from the northern triangle countries we encounter every day with human smugglers so one thing we are doing different than the governor announced is a statewide campaign to crack down on fentanyl and go after the organizations manufacturing disturbing fentanyl. arthel: excuse me, i'm going to get to fentanyl in a moment because it's a big deal but i want to be clear, i asked you since the last time we spoke, if you been able to change operations at all their, texas dps. >> oh, right. we don't always change operations, based on the threats we will change operations and create specialized teams with investigators and troopers working with federal partners to crack down and go after these organizations for human smuggling so based on the threats we see we can change operations and add manpower but also working with federal partners to provide support in

the groups coming across in eagle pass, texas, the most we can do is alleviate the flow by buzzing immigrants on the private property to ports of entry and they take custody of them or those who voluntarily want to go to century city's chicago or washington, then buses go there and that has continued. arthel: i understand you can't do it alone. have you spoken with gop leadership in congress on the plan that they have ready to go on day one? should they regain full control of congress and what is that plan? >> me personally, i haven't, a short the governor's office has as far as what plan and strategy they will put in place come november if that turns out to be the case but we will continue to adjust operations based on what we see and also whatever the

governor has that he wants to use as far as using every resource possible to help our partners to secure the border as much as possible but it's all state-funded and resources in all we can do as far as the stateside as opposed to enforcing immigration, we cannot do that. arthel: i will get to the federal and biden admini administration, stephen, your director, has he altered orders and guidance recently? >> in terms of operations? our director gets as far as any orders from the governor and from that leadership on its filter down to the men on the ground, our troopers and agents and investigators, so we are always having conversations with the governor's office to try to find an address the concerns from those who reside in those communities, planters and whatever we see as far as the

stateside, whatever resources we have, we use them to our advantage to help the flow but our main focus is the criminal element, drugs in human smuggling cases, we see cases play on the in the migrants and some are being killed because they are on high-speed chases. arthel: from what i can tell, you are doing the best you can there locally, dps and the folks the front lines there. have you personally or perhaps texas dps contacted and received a reply from the biden administration since you and i last spoke two weeks ago? >> no, i have conversations with the governor's office as well and based on their communication, there's no communication whatsoever from the federal government. arthel: and what about reverse? you said no communication from the white house to the

governor's office, the governor's manchin, what about reverse? >> the governor has been trying to communicate with the federal government. most recently when he signed executive order to declare second cartel is a terrorist organization, would not received acknowledgment as far as with the federal government will do, if they will initiate that or go after these conversations manufacturing fentanyl but from what i understand, there's no communication. i don't get involved on that political side but based on what i know from conversations, that has not been done. arthel: all right, i get it. the governor, texas governor greg abbott influencing new policies and you don't know but policies are very important but if there's no communication both ways, it will just keep continuing to the border crisis continues. fentanyl rings smuggled at

alarming rates killing our kids, parents are morning. as a leader, they are on the border, what would you like to say to those listening and watching us? >> the most important thing aside from the enforcement action by now, we've seized 37000 -- doses in texas but the most important thing is awareness, educating our children and families and friends because especially as halloween approaches, we see this rainbow colored pencil, candy. it's dangerous to our children so one thing we need to emphasize is awareness of education and that's what we are doing on the stateside trying to spread awareness especially in schools and high schools and colleges, to get the message out and be mindful and aware poison, especially as halloween approaches. arthel: really good messaging there. you're working hard and it takes everybody to work on this.

as the days are winding down for the midterm election. control of the senate could come down now, a handful of swing states. the power rankings that put senate races in arizona, georgia, nevada pennsylvania in the top of column is election day nears but is something else going on here? kayla -- kaylee joins us from washington d.c. what trends are you seeing as election day gets closer? >> in the weeks prior we see a burst of enthusiasm from democrats and that has been completely erased the past couple of weeks alone, massive gains among republican candidates in both the house and senate races there are three big indicators i think represent was going to be a runaway this november. one from a new york times poll finding 30% of the country of likely voters strongly

disapprove of joe biden and his party. a second is a poll from data polling that shows 49% of parents k-12 children plan to vote republican over democrat. the third is the same new york times poll that shows independent women swung toward republican candidates by 18 points when last month in september they were supporting democrats by 14-point so that's a 34-point swing, these are trends to keep an eye on in the next three weeks. eric: democrats have been trying to rely on the abortion rulings as well as protecting the democracy and the elections. is that resonating as much as the other issues like the economy? >> they are not. the same poll found 5% of voters rated abortion as one of their top priorities heading to the polls november where vast majority of voters responded

said inflation, the economy and crime where their top concerns. when you have top democratic leaders like nancy pelosi downplaying those issues being important saying she dismisses the polls in which voters say those other concerns, how are they supposed to resonate with voters who are concerned about those things? eric: what race you think will be most surprising? they are tightening getting closer to election day, you see a race we should keep an eye on? >> i think arizona, people are underestimated masters ability to be kelly and the other one is nevada. if her republicans when nevada senate seat, everything else is downhill from there it will be easier to bring other candidates over the finish line. eric: in terms of those two races versus pennsylvania with federman and doctor oz, with

that surprise people? >> i think doctor oz has a strong chance, pennsylvania is to his disadvantage, they are going to be taking the debate stage a couple of weeks before the election. if that was taken from month and maybe doctor oz would have a better chance but a lot of it remains to be seen, it's hard to tell but things are changing so quickly anything could happen but republicans do have a strong position moving into november. eric: three weeks in politics feels like eternity. what you addiction? nancy pelosi say democrats will hold the house. what you think will happen? will find out in a few weeks. >> the republicans when at the house, i would guess 20 seats i would say i do think republicans win back the senate may be only by two or three seats but i do think republicans have a chance of taking back the entire congress.
