1:00 am
and then to have a real conversation not this virtue signaling regardless of the real-world consequences and they need to be punished. tammy bruce, good to see you and we will see you very soon. >> carley: america got its report card. you are watching" "fox & friends first"." i am carley shimkus. showing the largest drops ever reported. >> carley: reading scores have limited too.
1:01 am
the alarming numbers in alexandria. >> ashley, carley, it's sad when you look at these numbers laid out in a map or remote learning lesson for longer, children suffered the sharpest declines in learning. the nation's report card was last administered in 2019. show that since then eighth grade math scores have dropped by a staggering eight points. again, it's a three-point loss for reading in both fourth and fifth grade, statistic offer this quote: "the losses are bigger, much bigger in math and reading and are much vulnerable kids. those are things consistent with every other piece of information that we have seen in post-pandemic testing." school closures were the dander and so little was known about covid-19 but the more known
1:02 am
those closures became political, calling the shots based on national guidance and dr. anthony apo fauci is seekino separate himself from that. >> they always come back and say fauci was responsible for closing school. i had nothing to do -- let's get down to the fact. >> fauci did call closures a form of mitigation. to mitigate some of this learning loss. >> this year especially because we are seeing what happened locked out of school for so l long, our reading scores came back. if the percent of third-graders across the state failed their reading exam. we want to make sure every student has 25 hours of tutoring the matter where they are, what they are behind in, we can catch them back up. >> these students certainly needs something. this latest assessment shows that the declines impacted students across the board
1:03 am
regardless of race, gender, socioeconomic status. came down to where they live. carley, ashley? >> carley: the last time she was saying the test taken in 2019 before the pandemics of this is the best indicator of how covid lockdowns and virtual learning have affected kids. eighth grade math fell by eight points. what does that mean question mike peck a car at the commissioner the national education also said that normally for the nap assessment looking for snippets and as of 2-3 points. 8-4 points. so an eight-point decline we are seeing in math data is stark, troubling, insignificant. >> ashley: jeb bush said we need higher skills to succeed in the way the world is going so it really makes you concerned for the future of these kids and
1:04 am
when you think back to the pandemic, you are a future mom. i'm not a mother but we were kids in school will. we know how hard it was to navigate through life at that point. but my question is who is going to say who is responsible for this, step up. what are we going to do to solve this problem. i do want to take a listen at this, it's the angry parents. >> carley: listen to this and we'll talk about it. >> students are not meeting those basic benchmarks in math and et cetera. for covid, there are two years of learning loss. no one can knight it. >> i got smacked to the face and bagby's was to reopen our school. our kids are struggling for they said don't care. vehicle i want to make sure that my scoreboard >> i want to make sure that myss of education and the harm they cause over the last two years
1:05 am
needs to be fixed. the eagle obviously the school boards once they realize what was going on back to california, when they try to do away with certain math requirements and are they going to revisit this when they see these numbers or, you know what russian mark this is a crisis for our kids at our point. >> carley: this is been a crisis for the past two and a half years and recently jake tapper even said i wonder where the national conversation for lockdowns have been, we've heard all the parents we've been having on "fox & friends first," all the fox news shows several years sounding the alarm very we've been having this national conversation and now the data is finally catching up and welcomed the rest of america got to the broader reality that has existed
1:06 am
for all this time. where do your kids fit into all of this especially you have a fourth or fifth grader. the data also shows there was no statistically significant gains in math for either of those two grade either state in 22. every single state was affected by this. this is a particularly hard pill to swallow because it didn't have to be this way. when you relatively on the children were less impacted by this disease with proper ventilation on schools that were not significantly impacted by spread, if you had the ventilation and the ppe requirements. what happened is the cdc allowed the american federation of teachers to rewrite pieces of the biden administration, reopening guidelines that allowed school to remain shut down through 2020 and 2021. so these shutdowns were not based on science. they were based on politics. they were politically motivated. a big donor to democrats and the
1:07 am
biden administration. >> ashley: you will mention politics but at the end of alexandria's piece, it affected all communities, all races, boys and girls. it wasn't just one socioeconomic group that it affected. it was literally all kids across the boards. fourth and eighth grade with math and reading and math is hard enough. it was not a strong suit for me. i know. it was like that for a lot of people. a lot of those kids try to go along virtually with a parent and the teachers were complaining about the filtration systems and the schools. it's like what are you doing for these kids because the kids are the ones -- >> suffering. >> carley: you have all the kids in charge of 2028 saying this wasn't my decision. no lockdowns, dr. fauci, the american federation of teachers association has the audacity to say she's not calling for lockdowns. the administration --
1:08 am
>> ashley: that's what a lot are doing, i would bet. >> carley: parent sound off on the work culture infiltrating school systems in a whole group. parents keating as a key electric issue. >> we should be pushing the actual school studies, math, social studies, science. not, you know, gender studies. >> you can teach them one thing at home. but when you go there they are influenced by their teachers and their surroundings. >> one of those parents, a democrat, says sex education taking over the lesson plans, young kids wouldn't even think about some of the subject schools are teaching for 15 days out from the midterms, voters handle of the country's top issues such as inflation and rising crime. cory mills is a congressional cane to get.
1:09 am
former dod advisor under president trump and joins us now. always great to see you. republicans do trust, americans trust republicans to handle the kitchen table issues, the economy, inflation, crime. this is not a fact that's not lost on nancy pelosi and over the weekend she revealed her strategy and it is to change the subject. listen to this. >> it's about getting out the vote. everything else in the conversation compared to that. that fact is when i hear about people talk about patient, we have to range that subject. inflation is -- 's need to it doesn't seem >> you think about the fact that almost every single american today is causing them an extra month of salary to buy things they bought 22 months ago. nancy pelosi and the democrats
1:10 am
want to get away from inflation. first they say that inflation is transitory and they try to say the inflation reduction act would improve on the location. the reality is we've got a 40-year-old inflation. you've got about 3%. you've got where that gas prices are a record high. you've got where commonality is a record high. you've got the board are completely open. 273,000 just in the month of september, 2.2 million for the year. things are not going well for democrats. it doesn't highlight their failures in policy. >> carley: bernie sanders season in a totally different way. he says he does take an issue with the possible turnout or lack thereof of the young people voting democrat in this election. but he's also calling out republicans for not doing enough to fix the inflation issues. listen to this. >> want do they want to do?
1:11 am
maybe they want to cut wages for workers. do they want to raise the minimum wage? they don't. i think it's important to take the attack to the republicans. what do they want to do other than complain? >> carley: your reaction to that sound bite? >> i think senator sanders should also look at the nearly $5 trillion that's been spent in 22 months. the left is trying to continue to run on this modern monetary theory, this principle or idea that because we make our currency here in the united states we can just continue to do so and that that is not bad. but an increase in that leads to an increase in printing money which leads to inflation which then leads to what they are looking for which is demand destruction. so we have to identify with the fact that this is the result of inflationary spending. this is why we need to stop the green new deal. executive order bypassing
1:12 am
$55 billion college bailout recently joe biden actually said, yes, we passed this by one or two gunboats. this has never come to the floor a single time. what is is the left continuing to blame, blame, blame, not acknowledging the fact they are accountable. >> specifically how the senate is going to shape up. real clear politics say the senate rejections 53 seats for republicans, 47 for democrats which would be huge. 538 has the senate added that even match up. what are you hearing about how things will shape up. particularly in florida we are hearing that marco rubio's race could be a sleeper race. val demings could have traction on the ground. do you think that's true? >> i'll say now that senator rubio after the recent debates is definitely going up in the lead. republicans are
1:13 am
underperforming -- over performing on what the generic ballots are showing. when val demings showed that she had a temperament of the senate and losing it during the debate, i think that's a very positive thing for senator rubio. you are watching rigid events has taken the lead in ohio. you are watching where after the raphael warnock and herschel walker debate when you are seeing where that's drawing a dead heats. i'm definitely seeing where the republicans are sticking to the issues. democrats are trying to run off on abortion alone being the only positive thing that can stay on. definitely feeling good about the state of florida. for the first time under governor ron desantis, we have more registered republicans and you have democrats. this has never happened in florida's history. we have 3,000 more rested republicans and democrats. so i think you are seeing where repufloyd is taking a big stand, people voting for their feet by leaving democrat blue states like new york and coming to
1:14 am
florida, the free state of florida where we basically understand to not have unconstitutional mandates and i think they feel really confident going into the midterms both regards to the house but the senate. >> ashley: people hope they are playing in that both the same way they didn't like places in new york. >> do not new york might flo florida! >> carley: this last topic, north and south korea exchange and warning shots along the sea border earlier this morning that raised tensions after north korea's slew of missile tests the last month. i want to get your thoughts the whole situation but how can this affect americans? vehicle i think we definitely need to start acknowledging the fact that there is this axis of evil, this geopolitical lineup between china, russia, iran, north korea. north korea north korea feels emboldened by this. they launched the highest record of ballistic missiles just before the biden administration, there were 41 ballistic missile test. this happened on a number of
1:15 am
occasions where merchant ships because north korea does not acknowledge the northern line limits. there has been fired shots and artillery exchange and return. i think this is just a continuation of antagonistic behavior and activity between the two but it's certainly something that americans should focus on. he won a few seconds left because you are also running for congress in florida. just ten seconds, how do you think your race is shaping up to go weeks out? >> all races going great right now. up double digits, only 16 days left. i have a higher i.d., favorability's across analysis doing amazing. 13% undecided. governor ron desantis who i'm spoke with yesterday in a rally in the not worried about my race and going to continue to run through the ticker tape. doing well, going to keep it moving. thank you for joining us. >> ashley: thanks mcquarrie.
1:16 am
you holding talks with russia and minister of defense twice over the rican. they first spoke after a second call yesterday after mock-up that ukraine is planning to use a dirty bomb in its own country. the defense department saying secretary austin rejected pretext in russia's unlawful and justified war in ukraine. also shared his concerns with france, turkey, and britain's top officials. each country rejected what they call the transparently false allegations. president biden the state department is defending a $20,000 grant funded track shows ecuador. he telling fox news digital the money is part of "a wide range of strategic programs in ecuador operate concepts from diversity
1:17 am
and requisites nation the project will includewell dro minute documentary set to run until summer of next year. the state department added that the department is in response to a open alarming rise in violence towards the lgbt plus persons in ecuador." stop and watch this for horrifying video shows a moment and innocent bystander was shoved onto the subway tracks and this is the third incident in a week. the latest safety advice from the mayor eric adams. >> you are right about not having ipods and focusing on our phones. to joe borelli will be here with his response the democrats' crime and safety plans.

1:23 am
floor and called for funds to be diverted from our police force. and she disappeared and into hiding. our cities are being destroyed by crime. our police are not being supported. >> we need to ban dangerous weapons, assault weapons, we need to make sure we have really good background checks. >> carley: coming in the debate, murray shrank the lead from the 51-33 lead with 16% of voters undecided with 10% undecided, a little over two weeks before election day. democrat pennsylvania nominee john fetterman addressing his health issues and a campaign event to the democrat senator amy klobuchar. >> it's the elephant in the room but let's be very clear to everybody that's here there is a monitor right now in captioning so i can fully understand everything in terms of hearing.
1:24 am
i would remind people that half of americans use captioning when they watch television. >> fetterman defended his record on abortion as well as crime. >> i know it's your choice and that's the kind of person in this campaign that's going to lean in on that and join and to support it but whatever it takes, to have my vote if that would be something that would help codify roe v. wade into law. has never done one single issue towards crime. it as a photo. i'm proud of being the only person in this campaign that actually successfully addressed and fought for gun violence h here. >> carley: holds a small lead over republican candidate mehmet oz. >> ashley: carrie lake is shutting down rumors that she'll be former president from his
1:25 am
running mate if he'll run in 2024. >> if you are elected, will you commit to serving all four years as governor? >> i'm going to serve eight years as governor of arizona. the two spinning the narrative in order to scare voters into thinking she won't finish out his term as governor. it comes as recent polling showing taking the lead democratic katie hoss. democrat congressman henry cuellar pushing back on claims by vice president kamala harris that our southern border is secure. listen. >> first of all, the border is not secure. when you have 1.7 million individuals, that's over four and a half million individuals encountered at the border. plus you add the getaways, that's over 5 million individuals. in two years, the border is not secure. we've got to make sure that we
1:26 am
have repercussions. >> carley: not only has this year shattered border crossing, it's been the deadliest year we've seen in our southern border with a total of 856 migrant deaths. tennessee governor also warns that the national security threat over the border crisis and what the federal government should do about it. >> if you think there is a role, go back to what i said originally, i'm certainly hoping at the federal level, the national security issue we have at the border. my wife and i went down there last year. we had national guardsmen on the border of texas and it's not just drug traffic. human trafficking. sex trafficking. the illegal activity that's happening down there at really unbelievable levels... it infiltrates that crime all the way up into every state in the country.
1:27 am
there are illegal drugs behind the vast majority of the violent crimes that are happening in our streets and to make a change there. >> carley: picking a vice president harris, it was misinformation to help a minnesota belt fund that helps bailout violent criminals. governor will make your to respond to the vice president coming up next.

the to minnesota's attorney general under fire that democrats report defunding the police and in the debate, i don't know anybody who thinks we should defund the police. ellison how he himself has been vocal about dismantling the current police force. the ag stands behind a ballot measure arguing the minutes of the police department is "an
1:33 am
outdated model for law enforcement and safety." along the same lines vice president kamala harris under fire for supporting the benefit of freedom front which is a tax-exempt organization that bails out violent crim criminals. terraces on the defense saying politics are to blame sing "people are are playing political games right now. we are 18 always from midterms but we have sadly not seen a lack of men's information and disinformation. i think this is another example of another one of those examples." dr. scott janssen is a republican governor candidate from minnesota. kamala harris made these, it was misinformation, yet this same group, this fund acknowledge it help secure the release of sean michael tillman who back in may shot and killed a passenger on a rail platform. his priors included three felony counts in wooded indecent
1:34 am
exposure in the presence of a minor but i also want to point out the same groups also shelled out $75,000 to get a guy out of jail was charged with shooting at police during the george floyd riots. what kind of oversight does there need to be to prevent this group from getting these people back on the streets because it's not doing people in minnesota and a good. >> thank you. vice president kamala harris was a huge fund-raiser for the minnesota freedom fund. and basically for her to come out and say that this is misinformation, it borders on lunacy. she's a big part of this. she's hell-bent on getting people out of jail that are recurrent felons who have frequently violated the law again and in the situation of tillman, we had a press conference the other day. tillman killed a man on the light rail platform and we call
1:35 am
that out by having a press conference. harris comes out and says, well, that's misinformation, and it's just politics. it's not politics. exactly what she did. she's not wanting any responsibility for it. she helped raise $35 billion in a matter of weeks 2020. it would go back to what does bell mean, why do we have bail? it's probably for two things. we need to have that person show up in court but we need to have that person involved, the person family involved. if you willy-nilly and provide all the bell for someone to get out, you are basically giving them a get out of jail free card. telling them there's no consequence for the fact you are a recurrent felon, that you've done this before, you're now under arrest again. we are going to get you out and you don't have to put a dime into it. we are creating the very situation that people like
1:36 am
harris and attorney general keith ellison are saying that they don't support. but they do. they do support lawlessness. >> carley: we even have that sweet that kamala harris posted in 2020. that she supported the minnesota freedom fund but in 2020 she said if you are able to commit shipping now to the minnesota freedom fund to help post bail for those protesting on the ground in minnesota. a lot of other crimes, dr. jensen, that occur at the crime of the -- the in communities that kamala harris and others say they are trying to protect. so where is the logic in all of this? >> in minnesota it seems that we've got some sort of... the three musketeers when it comes to denigrating the police, we've got keith ellison, tim walz, and ilhan omar in congress. ilhan omar said that the police are a cancer that need to be
1:37 am
dismantled and defunded. attorney general keith ellison has said that they are in an occupying force in the art dishes. they got tim walz reporting this this to go, endorsing these to go, not willing to stand up for the work that police do. at the end make of the day tim walz has been more interested in making certain that maxine waters and ilhan omar are happy with him. minnesotans paying a price but we got people like harris, tim walz, ellison, and omar having a casual attitude toward violent felons. their idea of idea is frankly anarchy on the lose. >> ashley: i got to get your idea on this in response to the minnesota students who also saw a massive drop in test scores. fourth grade test scores are down nine points. reading is down seven. that's in fourth and eighth grade.
1:38 am
what is your response to this? >> minnesota used to be a steak that could be proud in k-12 for we now fail in reading, arithmetic, many areas. the teachers union in minnesota seems to be the grand puppeteer when it comes to all the levers that tim walz response to. in minnesota we've got a little bit of an interesting situation. we've got so many good teachers going into teaching to teach and they are not happy with their teachers union. there is a split between so many teachers and the teachers union because the teachers union is all about control and power and they are not concerned it seems with the following all scores and the point that you make is very interesting. the people, the kids that are having the largest disparity and achievement, the largest drop off, are the kids who can least afford it. kids in minority communities. these very children that so many
1:39 am
liberal politicians profess to care about are dropping off dramatically. it is in part because of policy put in place by tim walz. >> carley: these scores exactly like you said is because of these lockdown policies which is one of the reasons why i am sure you hopped into the race to begin with. dr. scott jensen, thank you for joining us this morning. appreciate it. >> thank you very much. >> carley: top white house officials including dr. fauci and jen psaki being deposed in a republican led lawsuit accusing the biden administration of colluding with big tech to censor speech online. we will tell you what comes up in the case. keep it right here on "fox & friends first."

t>> carley: tomorrow's debate set for the only time in the eight election climbing the democrats were taking so long saying when we take the stage on tuesday night, the first question should be why kathy hochul faces the bare minimum
1:45 am
simple debate after so many new yorkers have cast their votes is what she think the people of new york deserve. the latest quinnipiac poll shows zelda and trailing by just four points in the new york governor's race. and crime ranked as a top concern for new york voters. the new york city police department is on track to see more than 4,000 cops retire or resign before the end of the year. a rate not seen since post 9/11 exodus. over 2,000 officers have already fled the forest which is a 42% jump from last year. what's going to happen to new york as a result of this? >> we are going to be simply short-staffed more than we are now. we are seeing police officers retire and we are not seeing people join the ranks in the same numbers and frankly, carley, i can't blame some of
1:46 am
these officers. policing has been a very dangerous job. he always run the risk of danger, being shot, things like that. in new york city you also risk losing your pension for wrestling with a suspect and pressing their diaphragm. you lose qualified immunity so you have personal liability for doing your job. so we have more investigatory entities that investigate police officers more than any other large city. it's almost not even worth it for new york city police officers to be police officers because everything is really stacked against them. >> crime is already up and there's a shortage of police officers, a recipe for disaster and the reason we see the situation play out. a person was randomly shoved onto the new york city treadway tracks for the third time in a week for the 13th time this year. because of this, mayor eric adams issuing this advice to new yorkers. listen. >> you are right about not
1:47 am
having your ipods and not focusing on the phone and i do the same. we put out a video and information telling people to be aware of what's around them. >> that advice delivered with good intentions but what is it going to take for you new yorkers not to be on high alert to get into work in the morning? >> the problem with what he's saying is you absolutely all right, you have to have your head on a swivel. 13 people pushed in front of a train. that's not a one off, it's not one crazy person acting with mental illness or something like that. this is a crisis. the mayor has been pretty consistent in saying we need more police officers in our subway system. the governor, the state agency, the one has not been consistent and she's been the one to pump the brakes on this plan up until recently, it may be this week, polls came out saying that she
1:48 am
has to change the direction of her campaign. >> ashley: to your point, announces plan that overtime shifts to watch the subway system but you have the police benevolent association president saying that's unsustainable because the police are already doing so many overtime shifts, it's going to stretch them even thinner. will this plan even work? >> both of these topics are related to each other. we don't have the officers because so many are retiring without new ones joining the force. this is unfortunately the only solution and i understand what the president is trying to say. there is no option b. option a is the only one we can go with right now and that's flooding the subway system. the problem is still with state law and that's where even if we arrest someone or confide someone mentally ill, they are out of confinement within hours before the cop even gets off his
1:49 am
or her overtime shift. >> ashley: the new york post highlighting on the cover today, says pushed to the ads, concern for so many new yorkers who are just trying to get to work every single morning. i also want to ask you about the migrant ten facility in new york city built a house over a thousand people in "the new york post" reported that only seven people are living there now. what's going on here. why is it so empty? >> that's one xbox per migrant, i guess. what we actually use these tend toes, other than using this tent is to continue using long-term hotel rentals in average residential neighborhoods in new york city. we have concerning this cost a lot of money but more concerned that we are not using it for all male migrants should be used hoe there before we start troubling neighborhoods with just packs of migrants going door-to-door. that's what's happening in my
1:50 am
neighborhood where there is one hotel having migrants and i imagine it's the same in many neighborhoods around the city. even new yorkers who believe this is a problem and want to help these folks. >> carley: it's not just new york. crime is on the ballot across the country. >> ashley: talking to voters who are also survivors of the crime crisis. going to tell us how it's impacting your votes in two weeks. flush

>> fox news polling showing that 79% of voters are extremely or very concerned about crime, making it one of the top issues for voters this election. with more crime comes more victims, who are hoping for change this coming midterm election. joining me is paul, the owner of the blue dog beer tavern in los angeles, who was attacked by a homeless man and adrian medina, who lost his mother in 2021 and daniel, the owner of regard jewelry in austin, which has faced break-in attempts. thank you for being with us early on this monday morning. adrian, your mother martha was killed by someone out on bond for capital murder charges and
1:56 am
aggravated assault. you want you to speak to us about the importance of your vote and how important it is to vote for people who are not going to be soft on crime to keep the criminals locked up. >> you know, that's right, that is exactly what we need. i have voted democratic all along, democratic judges have put a revolving door in our system and it's got to stop. this city is in a downward spiral and we have to take it back. >> ashley: right. daniel, i want to talk about the numbers, abc news poll. which party do you trusts doing better handling crime? 22% of democrats and 37% of republicans, obviously more people think republicans can handle crime much better.
1:57 am
with attempts of vandalism on your jewelry store, are you with the peoplel who say republicans would do a better job and is that how you're going to vote? >> i voted democrat a lot, this time i will vote republican, it is the only way to stop this from what we've seen so far. our city has been overran with this. over and over again people try breaking into the store, i don't see an end if we votes the same way we have. >> ashley: a lot of people feel the same way. paul, you were attacked by a homeless man. you are owner of blue dog tavern that opened in 2009. in 200 2000 twenty, we saw homes encampments, we are not seeing it anymore, has that gotten better 1234 >> no, it's highly prevalents, you are not seeing it because there is other news.
1:58 am
i saw the stats and inflation doesn't bother me, i can work harder, crime bothers me. i can't grow eyes in the back of my head, the vote is too crucial in los angeles, there are three things on the ballot most important to me, we nick rick caruso, if karen bass getss in, the problem gets worse. we need to get nueva, the only crimefighter in the city and measure a in the county will give supervisors a 4/5th vote to fire the duly elected sheriff, measure a. no on measure a, vote for rick caruso and nueva, or downward spiral is the call for the day, downward spiral. >> ashley: like a mass exodus,
1:59 am
