>> jackie: races in michigan and new york tighten, democrats are sending big names to pennsylvania, obama and biden will campaign on john fetterman's behalf on november 5. >> carley: thank you, let us bring in pennsylvania candidate jeremy shafer, good morning to you. we want to talk about the race in a moment, first to the debate between fetterman and oz, how do you expect it to go and what would you like to hear the two candidates discuss? >> yeah, first i'm glad they are having this debate, in the first place. there was talk pennsylvania voters would not be able to see this debate. pennsylvania voters are suffering, inflation and crime are rampant and they want to hear solutions. i know dr. oz has been talking about that, looking forward to hearing his ideas here even more.

>> todd: jeremy, your race, there is clear contrast when it comes to crime, will crime out of all the issues important to the american people, specificsly the pennsylvania votesers in the 17th district, will crime be the issue that tips this race in your favor? >> yes, look, i'm proud to be endorsed by local police and so many democrats are seeing people want to defund the police and we are having violence off the chart in pittsburgh and across pennsylvania, voters want solutions to keep their communitieses safe. it is getting voters energized and looking forward to election day to turn things around. >> carley: your district is located in pittsburgh suburb being represented by connor lamb, who is advocating the seat or leading the seat because he tried to run for senate unsuccessfully, fetterman won

the primary, also your district voted for president biden by three points, but your race is considered a toss-up right now, a win that you could get. what are you hearing from voters and why do you think you could flip this seat? >> yes, this is a critical seat that we need to win to flip control of the house. voters in western pennsylvania are frustrated with inflation and gas prices out of control. we enter colder months, people are filling up fuel oil tanks and getting natural gas bills and seeing bills that are in some cases double what they were last winter and this is crushing families, crushing retirees here. cost of living, inflation, are driving this race. we are getting our message out and we are confident on election day we will end on the right side and deliver change to this country it needs.

>> todd: you'll have to convert democrats, that is just the way it will have to be, on the campaign trail and talking to democrats and independents, what do they tell you about why they are crossing the aisle for snu >> i've always been a problem solver, i'm an engineer, my opponent is a lawyer. i talk about the problem and how to solve it. in western pennsylvania, we sit on one of the largest reserves of energy, on the shell, the saudi arabia of natural gas, it is especially frustrating to voters to be paying sky-high energy prices. i talk to voters of all parties and tell them it does not have to be this way, we can safely extract domestic energy and be energy dominant and drive gas prices down from the $4 they are in western pennsylvania, while providing jobs to democrats, independents and republicans in the community. >> todd: democrats want to free

photos and writing last night one of our canvasser wearing one of my t-shirts and hat was brutally attacked by animals in hialeah, florida, suffered internal bleeding and will need reconstructive surgery. mayor of hialeah, florida, esteban bovo, is here now. there are obvious questions over whether or not this attack was politically motivated and the hialeah police department is saying there is no evidence the attack was. as of monday afternoon, there was no indication that is the case. do you think this attack was politically motivated and what do you know that we might not? >> good morning. look, i think first we need to talk about the facts, a gentleman has been politically active in our community, a

council candidate, been out canvassing, something i've done for 30 years and all of a sudden, something that is unusual in my city, he gets jumped and the investigation seems to lead to multiple folks that were involved in this beating and right now i don't think anything could be discarded. we don't want to jump to conclusions, but i believe this is a head-scratcher in a community that normally you don't see this kind of violence. >> carley: the pictures are horrific, the suspect, javier lo lopez, got into trouble at a political rally once, here we are. do you know who this canvasser is and how is he doing this

morning? >> he's in better shape than the day before, i had the opportunity to spook to his dad yesterday and his dad is very concerned. chris has been a political activist in our communities, he's a decent guy as far as i know issue his political views may vary, he ran for city council and he's been basically going door to are doo, we live in a hyper-political era right now and basically as he's going out and going canvassing, we have various candidates doing this in my city, to have this happen and my understanding is that apparently this gentlemen said you can't cross my sidewalk, chris tried to go around or go through the street and before you know it, there is alter altercation, the investigation is looking at others that may have participated.

believe what joe biden and the left are saying, what is going on here? >> what they want is to give states the right to sterilize children and this is something that we've seen before. we've had states sterilize people back in 1927, when the supreme court said states could sterilize people. now we have the medical aristocracy setting their sights on children and this is why the law should step in and why states do ban therapies that turn out to be inherent and harmful and unscientific. we've done this with gay conversion therapy, banned in 20 states and rightfully so. transgender converg therapy is be banned, it is harmful and scary to think that your own child could be on it is road to

a candidate that might change things or is that unrealistic? >> i don't think it is unrealistic, getting away from republican versus democratic narrative, it has a lot to do with having right candidate come into office who are not going to be there for office, someone has to be there on the ground. this is not like any other city in the united states, this city goes through turmoil each and everyday. this weekend 50 people shot 182 wounded with gun violence. multiple people shot in a car jacking, we need a candidate we can look at and say they are going to take care of our people and that is how voters and people are, tired of republican versus democrat, they want a good candidate.
