and it was a total train wreck for the left. fetterman, flip-flopping on key issues. watch. >> good night, everybody. let's talk about the elephant in the room. i've had a stroke. he's never let me forget that. my doctor says i'm fit to be serving. >> john fetterman during this crime wave has been trying to get as many murderers convicted and sentenced to life in prison out of jail as possible. >> i believe that i run on my record on crime. i'm the only person on this stage right now that can -- that has been successful about pushing back against gun violence. >> there's that 2018 interview that said, quote, i don't support fracking at all. so how do you square the two? >> i do support fracking. and i don't -- i don't -- i support the fracking. i stand and to support fracking. >> fetterman's camp blaming the captioning system provided for

whose facing family scandals, lies about his past jobs? >> greg, that was hard to watch. did you feel bad for john fetterman up there? >> no. i felt bad for os. >> did you? >> yeah. he was terrible -- no. actually i think os did a -- i mean, it was like having bad wi-fi. fetterman kept going in and going out. i felt kind bad for him. he could have diffused the bomb much better if he just said -- you know, when he said elephant in the room, he should have said, look, my mind works fine, but my body is catching up, i'm in a dial-up mode in an ig world. maybe a joke. pretending to be concerned or disgusted because people are talking about that, you put him out there. you put him out there. you're allowing everybody to watch this. so it's on you. we don't mind dan crenshaw, right? we don't mind governor abbott.

captioning, he allowed that to happen. the second thing, they started early voting in september. september 19th, i believe, for this election. way over a million votes have already been cast. and there was a news nation that the host of the debate, they had a focus group, and there were some democrats there, and independents leaning democrat, who were thinking, oh, boy, what have we done? that doesn't necessarily mean they would have voted for dr. oz. maybe they would have, but they might have chosen connor lamb, the other democrat, running in the primary. john fetterman's stroke was before the primary. he and his wife kept telling everybody, he's fine, he's fine, he's fine, remember, for about eight weeks. now some democrats are saying maybe he should never have debated anyway. that's wrong. if you're really concerned about democracy, you want integrity in elections, debates are important. as you move forward, thinking about these rules, perhaps early voting shouldn't start until after the first debate has been

held. i think that's fair. his team needs to get their story straight. they came out and said john fetterman had a strong performance. the next thing they try to say is that the technology was to blame for the stumble. that forced the company, nextstar, to come out and say it worked perfectly fine. if republicans win in pennsylvania, they'll get the majority. that's why a lot of democrats are hand-wringing this morning. aside from the stroke, i do think it was a bad policy debate for fetterman on energy, on the i come, and on crime in particular, student debt. all of those -- on the issues, it wasn't strong either. >> really, really bad. he was asked by the moderator twice, are you going to release your medical records, and still won't, after this, to release the records. >> he refuses to release the records. the guy had a stroke five months

ago. okay? many people who have strokes are right now in rehab and therapy and cognitive therapy. it is clear that he did not have the ability to answer anything beyond the most -- the most, you know -- how can i say this? superficial part of it. there was no in-depth, no substantive discussion. he could not go down to a, b, c or d. so he promotes himself, saying, see, i showed how good i am, how great i'm feeling. i don't know that anybody who watched that say, gee, that's who i want me to represent me in the senate. he was was against fracking four years ago, and now he's in favor of it. you can say it's a stroke, god bless him, i hope he gets better, but we're talking about the senate, we're talking about a country that's divided, a country where everything matters, every fact, every issue. you don't look at the superficial layer. you've got to go down.

he's got a progressive socialist ideology, where he wants to release one-third of the criminals in prison. he wants to get rid of parole for lifers who are in jail. this is a guy who is not in the mainstream. and there's no question september 19th they started voting. and now he has the debate on october 25th, whether it's 650,000 or a million who have already voted, they can't change that vote. there's one more thing i want to say. you know, it just reminded me of joe biden. remember joe biden, he was in the basement, we've got covid, and his wife jill is walking him around. i feel like the same thing is happening here. with fetterman's wife, saying, oh, he's fine, he's fine. maybe you should be taking care better of him. maybe he should be in rehab. maybe this isn't the time for him to be running. you know, that's just my opinion. >> of all candidates, it's fetterman that barack obama and joe biden are going to go to pennsylvania together and

campaign with together. what does that tell you? >> well, i think you framed it right. this race here could very well determine or decide who is in the majority in the senate. it was painful to watch. there's no doubt. this is a person, a human being, who clearly is battling his recovery and battling with the recovery to get through it. you have to hope and pray he does get through it. i'm not sure it affects the outcome in any meaningful way. i think that the issues here that dana raised are issues he's been campaigning on from the very beginning. he won the primary. now it seems he's three or four points ahead as we get to november here. i to think an argument should be made -- can be made about this early vote piece, but voters who don't want to vote early don't have to vote early. if os had a poor performance, some would have said, maybe i should have held my vote back to see how he performed or fared during the debate. look, obama, biden, everyone is going to descend upon this state. frankly for democrats, what

governor who wasn't elected, is that she's disconnected with real concerns. do you remember that when crime was happening, she was -- her big thing was pronouns, able to get the suny campuses to enforce their pronoun laws. those were what she called the victims, were the p pronouners. >> i thought his energy matched the voters' concerns, and hers did not. she was sitting back. did she not see the poll where the number one issue in new york to voters is crime? lower than that is the economy and inflation. so that should have been something i think she should have been able to match the concern of the voter with her energy. she did not do that. i thought his answer was good as well, talking about the other types of crimes that you see. people are very much worried about broken windows. we talk about it all the time. >> that's the philosophy that when you let that stuff go, everything else comes up. >> also, how can hochul say that

the criminals end up with consequences, with cash free bail? we've seen it over and over again. how many times do we tell a story, this victim was killed. turns out, oh, guess, what he had a rap sheet a mile long and got out last month after a burglary charge. when they says to zeldin on crime, i don't know why that's so important to you, it reminded me of when -- do you remember terry mcauliffe in virginia running against glen youngkin said i don't think parents should tell teachers what to teach kids. the. >> judge, it's a very "what difference does it make." >> absolutely. it's part of who kathy hochul is. i call her the accidental governor. no one voted her in. it's this arrogance, condescending, let the people eat cake. >> you made a cake. >> i did make a cake today, but that's another issue. why are you concerned about it? you know, with the changes?

i don't know why that's so important to you. this woman is clueless. she's clueless. if you listen to the whole debate -- and i did -- there was very little she said about what she was going to do. the she didn't talk about the economy, crime, toes or energy. what she talked about was the fact that we're putting -- we are paying $600 million for the buffalo bills stadium of which i believe her husband has a piece, and the other piece she talked about is the covid masks when lee zeldin brought it00 when she paid $637 million, whatever that is, double the amount of masks everywhere else in the country and got a big contribution. this is a woman who is part of the pay-for-play corruption in albany. lee zeldin was on his game. he talk every issue, whether it was crime, the economy, energy. he knows what the issues are. she says, what is crime to you? my god, there was a shooting in

front of his house while his daughters were home. somebody came up to attack him on the stage. this woman is in la la land. you know what else? i'll tell you what else. she was w with with cuomo, i dot think she learned a thing. he kept her in the background. she was there when they needed a lieutenant governor. she was somewhat polished, knew how to say, no, i've never been engaged in corruption, but never knew what she was going to do for new yorkers. lee zeldin killed it. >> in the greenroom, harold, i liked when you said you liked the cut of his jib. i said that's illegal. you said, that's the way i roll. you hit me in the face. it's totally ridiculous. >> i don't remember it like that. i'll take your word. i think zeldin had a pretty good night. i thought, to your point, and judge you were saying it as well, i thought that governor hochul would have spelled out three or four things she'd done,

two or three things differently she was going to do, and one or two things she would do if elected. there might have been a missed opportunity there. lee zeldin's challenge is he's pro-life, connected to mr. trump, former president trump, and i think what the governor thinks if he's able to connect him to those two factors, that that will prevent him from running up a significant vote here in new york city, making up 40% of the vote, the five boroughs do. >> he said on the abortion issue, he won't change the law in new york. he's not concerned about that. that the law related to abortion is fine. he's not a zealot coming in. >> people said that about the supreme court, and look what happened. that's his challenge. i would have spelled out, here's what we're doing on crime, here's what's been wrong, here's what we'll do to fix it, and

here's what i'll do to bring in jobs, and bring in healthcare. >> jesse, pretend you were watching the debate, not hanging out in a hot tub -- [laughter] >> i watched the debate in a hot tub. ha-ha. if you're giving a speech, you can get away with platitudes, but if you're in a debate you have to get specific. kathy had no specifics. did you notice in the clip, she goes, well, i've pushed policies that do anything for crime. name a policy. >> yeah. >> she hasn't pushed any specific policy. and lee was specific about bail and about the types of crimes being committed, about sentencing and psych wards. so that was good. it used to be considered racist to let black neighborhoods kill each other. that used to be considered racist by not policing black neighborhoods, by not prosecutorring black-on-black crime, but today's democrats are back to that.

they're not policing. they think that's somehow not racist. in fact it is. so, dana, you're right, you have to connect to the streets. she can't connect at all. you can see her eyes are glassy. she's got no emotion. the country right now, especially new york, is emotional. they're emotional about crime. hispanics, all voters. when you begin to take them for granted and think 45 days out from an election and get a massive get out the vote effort, that's the only engagement, you'll run into challenges that i don't have agree with the congresswoman. i understand what she's saying. you can't say they've never campaigned. i think there's a laziness among some democrats and strategist how you engage communities of color, particularly black and hispanic voters. black and hispanic voters are interested in crime, interested inflation, national security. we want clean energy. we also want energy that's plentiful. you have to have the same conversation with those voters as every other voter. when you try to figure out how to angle to talk to these voters, you'll risk it. the congresswoman is trying to say, alienating people, pushing them to the other party. >> don't call them tacos. >> breakfast tacos.

>> dana, the truth is that with the number of blacks and hispanics who are moving toward the republican party -- i think whatever that number is, there's a movement -- and low voter turnout, i think that might be part of the argument that aoc is making. do you think there's a motivation on the part of the democrats to have a high voter turnout? >> well, i think that, one, i've never heard her praise anyone. she just complains about everybody. i would point her to dan balls at "the washington post," the veteran reporter, who did a deep dive on hispanic voters in nevada, and that's a senate seat they're likely to lose, in nevada, because of latino voters. of the i don't know why you guys are laughing, but you can tell me at a commercial break. the other thing is, let's be honest here, they're departing mostly on economic issues. if you push the green new deal, you want to take away their

jobs, take away their agriculture, make them call themselves latinx, they've abandoned latinos on that. latinos are the ones who are the most entrepreneurial. who was hurt the most during the covid lockdown? the entrepreneurials. you can't show up and say you can't vote republican because you never. that's not going to work with people. the school issue was a big one. glen youngkin said i will make sure advanced math is taught in schools, that reading is taught at grade level, because parents want their kids to do very well. >> greg, part of what aoc is complaining about, when the president issued that pardon for those people who were in prison for marijuana possession, she wanted it to extend to undocumented individuals. she's very upset with joe biden for that. >> oh, boy. >> in the end, how does it play out? >> i don't know, judge.
