5:00 pm
five?" jessica. yeah, we have $100 bet on the red wave this red wave's big and i'm going to clean up. i'm going to see a naked t. roy and win at least $1,100. that's all for us tonight. i bet you're happy about that. dvr the show. tucker's up next. always remember one thing, i'm waters and this is my world. >> tucker: good evening. well tucker carlson tonight! the babylon bee is one of the last english language satire tights sites on the internet -- sites on the internet. the babylon bee by contrast is intentionally musing and it succeeds mostly because it's sharp and it's honest. this march, the site published a piece with the headline "the babylon bee's man of the year is rachel levine."
5:01 pm
the article is funny because it pointed out rachel levine is himself pretty funny. here you have a man dressed up like a woman in makeup and purple glasses wearing some kind of admiral's uniform pretending to be the assistant secretary of health when he looks like a candidate for an imminent heart attack himself. so the whole outfit is a riot. it's like a halloween costume some clever drunk college student dreamed of. this year i'm going as an obese transvestite health admiral. you'd laugh if you saw him at a party but the biden administration can't allow to you laugh at rachel levine or kamala harris or any of the other transparently absurd figures pretending running our continue are country or for biden himself who somehow got 81 million votes despite being senile and rarely going outside. it's all pretty funny when you think about it but you can't laugh and you can't laugh because humor is the most subversive thing. once you start noticing the pure hilarious ridiculousness
5:02 pm
from the people in charge, you may be much less likely to obey them so it's absolutely vital someone wipe that smirk off your face by force f necessary. twitter immediately banned the babylon bee from its site for the crime of making fun of rachel levine. you've heard that story. you've heard other stories like it but here is what is interesting about this one. elon musk, wherever he was at the time noticed this happening. he was appalled. he's not appalled because he's an ideological conservative. musk is the richest man in the world. he didn't get that way by being a right wing political activist. he's a business guy. musk has politics. he's a civil liberties oriented liberal banning a comedy site for mocking someone in power? that seemed totalitarian to elon musk. musk called the head of the babylon bee, seth and told him he might need to buy twitter and he wasn't kidding. yesterday after months of legal drama, musks did that.
5:03 pm
"the bird is freed" he tweeted, then he fired several of the company's top executives including its ceo. within hours, he pledged to let people laugh on line if they wanted. to let people who's been excluded from our public conversation speak lifting the bans on the banned commentators on twitter. that would include presumably donald trump, the former president, project veritas, a group of journalists, alex jones and many thousands of others. then musk promised to make twitter's algorithm transparent. what is twitter's algorithm exactly? we don't have any idea. no one's seen it. we will now. twitter will no longer be a publicly held company. it'll be a privately held company and musk has said he will show us exactly how to works. apparently, the algorithm has effectively existed to center conservatives on the basis of their political views. so now in one day, people who could not speak will be
5:04 pm
allowed to speak. the playing field will be transparent which is a prerequisite for fairness and if you want to laugh on social media, you can. it seems like a big day. this seems like good news. and if your job was to defend freedom of the press -- and it is the job of journalists to defend freedom of the press, because they rely on it -- you'd think you'd be pretty excited about this. oh, but they're not excited. instead, journalists are panicked by this development. watch! >> i think he's a jerk. i think that he's cavalier. i think there's something dangerous when the richest guy in the world controls one of the most important political social platforms in the world. i think this is a guy who ran a business, come in in business and fire the people before you sit down with them shows a cavalier recklessness. reminds me of a bond villain when the richest guy in the world buys a social media platform, it it's not a good equation. he's a dangerous fellow. >> it's scary when rich people
5:05 pm
own media companies says donnie deutsch who inherited a media company from his own rich father but he doesn't mean it! there's no principle here! no one at msnbc means it. how do you know that? because they're not complaining about say msnbc's corporate owners, its billionaire owners at comcast. they're not upset about the fact that jeff bezos, probably the second richest man in the world owns the hometown newspaper of the government, "the washington post." "the washington post" owned by another billionaire just published a tweet telling users how they could crush twitter now that elon musk owns it. "if you do only one thing" the post wrote "lock down your ad settings on twitter. starve 'em out!" ha-ha. "the washington post" reporters are also panicked that free speech might be back on twitter. taylor lorenz, one of the most famous and thoroughly ridiculous reporters a particularly rough night, "it's like the gates of hell opened on the site tonight,"
5:06 pm
she wrote. ha-ha. the gates of hell! people in media you may have noticed spend their entire lives online. no, the gates of hell will open when we run out of diesel fuel and the airlines don't work and people freeze to death. the gates of hell don't open when people get to say what they want on social media. sorry. get some perspective, honey. but none of them have perspective. it's sad, frank shaw who works at the head of communications at microsoft. lorenz was upset because she makes her living by defaming people and then harassing them personally, but until last night, twitter protected her and many journalists like her from any criticism whatsoever. here is gotti who is the chief censor at twitter, the head lawyer, explaining why twitter bans anyone who mocks journalists, "because it's dangerous to mock journalists" watch. >> we were trying to understand the context of what was going on and take action on them. i don't know, joe f you've ever been a target of a
5:07 pm
dog-piling event on twitter it's not particularly fun when thousands of people or hundreds of people are tweeting at you and saying things and that's -- that can be viewed as a form of harassment. it's not about the individual tweet. it is about the volume of things that are being directed at you. >> no, i understand. >> in that particular case we made the judgment call -- and it is a judgment call -- um to take down the tweets that were responding directly to the journalists that were saying learn to code even if though they didn't have a wish of harm attached to them. what we viewed as a coordinated attempt to harass them. >> tucker: see how this works? when you're a journalist, you can destroy people's lives -- in this country -- on behalf of a political party. totally crush them. get them fired from their jobs. attack them to the point they literally lose custody of their children -- which is happening now, by the way. you can do whatever you want if you're a journalist but if anyone criticize you, they have to be shut down because their criticism is violence. in this case, twitter objected
5:08 pm
to the phrase "learn to code." now, that's a phrase specifically used to mock journalists because that's what journalists told coalminers to do when they lost their jobs. learn to code. it's not a threat in any way it's not violence. it's a joke, but until last night, you couldn't say it on twitter. of course, you could aim it downward and still tell coal miners to learn to code but you couldn't tell people with power to learn to code. that's the point. when you eliminate free speech, who do you help? the people in charge. only the powerful benefit from censorship. the other day, the caller was banned for telling "the daily show" to learn to code. so the propaganda had protection from twitter. that's the point, and they've lost it. and blogs like "the verge" are very upset "the verge" published a profanity-laced creed that included this line, "most people don't want to participate in a horrible, unmoderated internet spaces.
5:09 pm
also, everyone crying about free speech conveniently ignores the biggest. [indiscernible] free speech in america is the te f-ing government." that's true. it's also a lie of omission because twitter was happening on behalf of the government. we know that thanks to lawsuits filed by alex and others. we know for a fact that twitter censored political views at the behest of the white house and also at the behest of pfizer. the biggest company in the world, the biggest government in the world get together and tell less powerful people they can't talk. that's what the media are defending right now. so obviously, they don't understand the concept of freedom of speech or why it's important or why elon musk bought twitter. joe, a natsec expert wrote this last night for example. "i now approach every tweet as if it could be my last --" oh,
5:10 pm
the self-dramatization of these people. they're such drama queens. democratic party mark alias says "i'm here until he kicks me off." mark is not going to be kicked off twitter. we don't want him to be. we think everyone should be able to speak, period. that's the basis of a free country. when you don't have that you have totalitarianism. the whole point of the action to make sure everyone could talk. that's why elon musk did this. the point is to stop censoring all people, period. we're celebrating because we're free to say what we want. that's what they took from us. that's why they're terrified now. exactly! so the people who have always been able to say whatever they want are upset not because their right to speech is under threat, because you now have the right to speech and they hate that. because now it's more of a fair fight. restoring free speech is the main reason that elon musk
5:11 pm
fired preying, the loathesome head of twitter who went on the record in 2020 saying his goal was to block people from saying what they believe to be true. watch. >> our role is not to be bound by -- our role is to serve a political organization. our moves are reflective of things we believe lead to a healthier public conversation. the kinds of things that we do do is to focus less on thinking about free speech but thinking about how the times have changed. one of the changes today that we see is speech is easy on the internet. most people with speak. right? our role is particularly emphasized is who can be heard? >> tucker: so free speech isn't just a prerequisite for freedom -- of course. it's not simply the first right guaranteed in the bill of rights, it's our civic religion. it's what america is.
5:12 pm
without free speech, it's not america. period! so here you have a guy who comes to america -- clearly a smart guy -- does very well here -- good for him. made $42 million last year. great! within a few years of getting here decides to overturn our civic religion and nobody says anything about it? be gone! no! elon musk also an immigrant to this country, by the way, comes here because he understands that freedom of speech is the whole reason you would want to live here in the first place. so think about twitter before yesterday. it was censoring people before you even knew you were censored. this is called shadow banning, using algorithms to suppress information like the "new york post" accurate reporting on hunter biden's laptop. they did a lot of that. remember? >> one of the things i'm most excited about in our efforts is to switch to proactive enforcement. i think that for too long, we relied on people reporting things to us and i'm sorry
5:13 pm
about your experience and the reports that you get. i don't -- i can't address those specific ones but i do think enabling twitter to be more proactive and actually identify this content to the extent that we can is going to make a big difference for people so that we can take action on this content before it even gets seen. >> tucker: yeah. so we can censor you before you even know you've been censored and we're so confident in our total power over you that we can brag about it on tv. that woman and her boss and a lot of other people at twi twitter, the enemies of free expression, the enemies of freedom itself, they're all gone! walking down the road talking their lunch boxes. this is a huge deal. it's hard to overstate how transformative this could be. the activist left believed it owned twitter and the public conversation in this country more broadly. why do they think that? because for many years, they had owned it. they had a monopoly and that monopoly has been broken.
5:14 pm
once everyone can talk, rich or powerful, poor or powe powerless, doesn't matter! when everyone can talk, nothing will ever be the same. and the democratic party will be forced to defend its positions on their merits. democrats pulled a sitting president off twitter. now apparently he's running again. so how can you possibly defend censoring that candidate, donald trump? if you support democracy, are you really going to argue that a presidential candidate can't talk? they're going to have to argue that. they're going to have to say that in public. what's that conversation going to look like? the biden administration is in trouble because of this. everything depends for them on censorship. everything! they're going to do everything they can to shut twitter down again and they're going to do their best to destroy its new owner. elon musk must know that he's doing it any way. that's the definition of
5:15 pm
bravery. people assume that billionaires can afford to be bold. you can do whatever you want. you're rich, but the opposite is true actually. look around, how many brave billionaires are there? not many, why? because the more you have, the more you have to lose. there's no such thing as fu money. there's only fu poverty and yet the richest man in the world is risking it all to save free speech. whatever you think of elon musk and however this ends, that's a remarkable thing to watch. the ceo and founder for the center of american liberty joins us tonight. thank you for coming on. you've devoted your entire life to defending free speech in the courts, and bless you for that. you're one of the very few that still does it. does this seem like a big deal to you? >> well, it's a huge deal, tucker and i'm very excited now. elon musk, like you said, is taking a big risk by doing this he's putting a target on his back. he's already done that. my perspective is that twitter is so important to the public discourse here -- i sued twitter two occasions for two
5:16 pm
people with very different radical views. both were censored. megan murphy was censored for stating truths about transgender people coming into women's bathrooms and spaces and creating threats and rogan o'hanley was censored by our california government using a biden vendor to take down his accurate speech, questioning certain aspects of the 2020 election. many of our other clients have been censored. you mentioned project veritas. tulsi gabbert was censored. and many more of them. i'm happy to see the new content. i think some of the things that he needs to do to immediately restore confidence in the value of this platform is -- like he said -- to open up the algorithms and stop the shadow banning and really open up and publish the records of all attempts by governments, by private corporations, by
5:17 pm
politician tosses ask for censorship. we should all know what happened and transparency is the first step to resolving the public trust in this very important platform. so even though i'm suing, i would love to see these improvements be made, and all the noises he's making so far -- yesterday's terminations of the most egregious anti-speech executives at twitter -- is a major first step. and now, um, i hope elon musk hires the right people. it's people or policy. it'll be very important for him to make sure the new leaders of twilter discard all of these -- twitter discard all of these bad, old policies and then i think, you know, it is an absolutely open horizon for free speech on the internet now. >> tucker: and tell us exactly when and how government colluded with social media platforms to squelch political speech? you make such a smart point in saying that i wish i thought of that myself, but i hope we will do that.
5:18 pm
we have a right to know. that is a clear violation of the first am first amendment s ? >> i think so that's what our lawsuits are alleging. so far the courts haven't gone there. they need to the lawsuits are ongoing. i hope we can move past them and speak freely. >> tucker: amen. thank you for all you've done on behalf of speaking freely. appreciate it. >> thank you. >> tucker: you probably have the sense joe biden has led a lot of people into this country illegally. you probably really don't have any idea how many. when you find out, you'll be shocked. we were. we'll tell you after the break. first we have breaking and sad news involving the husband of the speaker of the house, paul pelosi, 82, of san francisco. our west coast news anchor trace gallagher is tracking these developments for us. trace? >> trace: thank you, tucker. this is a fox news alert. i'm trace gallagher in los angeles. a suspect is behind bars
5:19 pm
following an attack on house speaker nanci pelosi's husband, paul pelosi. he's recovering after undergoing surgery to repair a skull fracture. the intruder who reportedly called out, quoting, where's nancy and beat pelosi repeatedly with a hammer inside of the couple's san francisco home. paul pelosi also has serious injuries to his right arm and his hand. the assault comes 11 days before the midterm elections and is being condemned on both sides of the political aisle. watch. >> i think we're looking at a time in our country where there's so much discourse that is fueled by hate and divi division, and anyone who professes to be a leader i think has to really understand that the meaning and the impact of their words and their posture on things like this. >> trace: senate minority leader mitch mcconnell said this about the attack, "horrified and disgusted about
5:20 pm
the reports that paul pelosi was assaulted in his and speaker pelosi's home last night. grateful to hear that paul is on track to make a full recovery and that law enforcement including our stellar capitol police are on the case." for the latest coverage, i will see you back here tonight on america's late news, "fox news @ night," midnight eastern, 9:00 p.m. here on the west. i'm trace gallagher.

5:24 pm
5:25 pm
>> tucker: the biden administration released the latest numbers on border crossings, illegal border crossings late friday night. they're hoping no one would notice but our bill melugin did notices. >> reporter: dhs released highly-anticipated border numbers on friday night. they're historic. there were more than 227,000 migrant encounters in september, highest september in dhs histsry and the equivalent of two full-capacity university of michigan football stadiums. fiscal year 2022 ended with nearly 2.4 million migrant encounters equivalent to the population of houston and it's the highest fiscal year ever recorded, not including 600,000 known got-aways in the year. there were also 98 border patrol arrests of suspects on the fbi's terror watch list in 2022, nearly quadruple the
5:26 pm
previous five fiscal years combined. cvp sources tell fox in this del rio sector in the first three weeks of october alone, there's already been more than 29,000 illegal crossings here. in the rio grande valley, video provided by a law enforcement source shows a group of drug smugglers in broad daylight loading up a waiting vehicle with bundles of drugs. >> tucker: so this country's never seen anything like this. this'll change america forever in ways we can't even anticipate. what are democrats saying about it? well, they refuse to acknowledge even that it's happening when melugin confronted them in congress about the state of the border, they ran away. watch! >> ma'am, is the border secure? do you agree with the administration that the border is secure? we'll let you go. >> chairman, one question, in your opinion s the border secure? -- your opinion, is the border secure? >> i have to give a speech. did you hear me? >> i heard you. is the border secure? >> reporter: answers about the border few and far between
5:27 pm
from some democrats on capitol hill including alejandra mayorkas. >> i'm bill melugin with fox news? do you have a few minutes to talk about the border real quick? >> i don't. >> 900,000 got-aways. >> no comment. >> reporter: only democrats from the state of texas, the front line of the border crisis, ended up talking to us and they expressed concern about the border. >> this is unsustainable! it has been unsustainable for years. >> we have resources down there but we clearly need to be doing more. >> this is our administration. i'm a democrat, and they need to understand they own it now! they own it now! and they have to take the steps to correct this! > >> tucker: if you're wondering why republicans are surging in the polls, this is why. the only candidates talking about the border turn out to be republicans. >> we have a catastrophe at the border. we shouldn't have sanctuary cities as john fetterman has tried to introduce.
5:28 pm
the completely porous, open nature of our border which john fetterman supports created a humanitarian crisis. >> we've seen a massive increase in overdoses. 2021 was the highest number we've ever seen, and we can directly correlate this to the whitmer/biden policies of having an open border. we know that drugs are pouring across our border every day. >> the surge is still continuing, and it's not just about people coming, it's also about things like elicit drugs that are coming. the lex trafficking and the labor trafficking. this is about working with the department of justice to be able to tackle the elicit drugs coming in. we need to stop it at the border. >> we've had millions and millions of people pour in across illegally. we've had record numbers of fentanyl come in. we now see it ravaging our communities like never before. i didn't hear people like charlie expressing outrage about that. >> the thing i worry about with all of this illegal immigration is that if you want to start a relationship with this country, we're all common citizens, we're all in a great, big american family. we look after each other whether you came one
5:29 pm
generation ago or 10 generations ago. we're all part of the same family but your introduction to this country shouldn't be breaking its laws. >> tucker: so how many people have come into this country illegally during the biden administration so far in less than two years? well, the federation for american immigration reform, "f.a.i.r., has been following this. they've determined that 5.5 million illegal aliens have crossed into the united states since joe biden took office. that's more than the population of many countries. that's more than the population of new zealand or ireland or costa rica. the scale sun imaginable. we will not recover from this. -- is unimaginable. we will not recover from this. dan stein is the president of f.a.i.r. 5.5 million is almost hard to believe! >> you have to remember at any given point in time there are hundreds of millions of people on the move around the world and according to international surveys, 2.5 billion people who would like to move to a handful of countries including
5:30 pm
the united states. joe biden has turned his back on the american people and our borders. he has a dha secretary who not only lies but believes he could improvise, make up immigration law by using the parole power which congress has said is very limited to turn around and let in millions and millions of people under parole which is a fraud on the american people with the expectation that someday if they can't make an asylum claim, maybe they'll be removed back to their home country. this is a fraud on the american people. it's a total lie. but the worst part is, hundreds of millions of more people around the world see what is going on and they're really, really interested in making plans to move here. unless the biden administration -- for the first time we see the administration that doesn't pivot. there's no pivot. there's no response. biden's never been to the border. harris has never actually looked at the situation at the border. mayorkas simply lies about border patrol agents whipping -- he turned his back on his
5:31 pm
own border patrol. how could mayorkas conduct operations as secretary of homeland security when he doesn't have the respect of anyone working in immigration enforcement? the republicans have an agenda. come january, the american people will be looking very closely what republicans do because they have a commission from the american people. parole has to be shut down. congress has repeatedly tried to stop this kind of abuse by principle executives. when you have the president of the united states who won't let carry out his fundamental functions under the constitution to defend our borders, it's no different than failing to defend the united states from military invasion, say the chinese decide hawaii is somehow part of china and hunter -- and biden calls hunter and hunter says don't worry about it, that's an impeachable offense! or unconducting foreign affairs or minting counterfeit money! this is counterfeit immigration undermining all the limitations in immigration law congress has carefully
5:32 pm
crafted over many decades. >> tucker: i don't understand -- if you got 5.5 million people coming in less than two years why the governors of arizona and texas, both republicans, haven't sent the national guard to seat border? that seems like a really simple -- no one's ever explained that to me. do you know why? >> remember, tucker, this is what the aclu wants. it's why they sued the trump administration hundreds of times. the southern poverty law center. the national council of -- well, maldaf and the other organizations for years have fought to bring out total border anarchy and fayios. this is the objective. they say states can have no authority to implement immigration law so unless you have state and local cooperation with the federal government, the situation will only deteriorate. >> tucker: such an act of hostility towards the united states. i mean, only people who hated a country would do this to the country. i really believe that. i'm amazed by what you found. thank you for bringing us those numbers. dan stein of f.a.i.r.
5:33 pm
thank you. >> thank you. >> tucker: democrats came out and endorsed the caststration of children. -- castration of children in one state, they want children to be able to get castrated without their parents' knowledge or consent. hard to believe but true on a happy note, final exam is back. stay tuned for cable news' greatest, maybe only quiz show. we'll be right back. hello, i'm franklin graham. we're in election season and many politicians are promising that they're telling the truth. i can tell you there is one who always tells the truth. that is the lord jesus christ. he said, "i'm the way, the truth and the life,
5:34 pm
"and no man comes to the father except through me." there aren't many ways to god. there is only one, and that's through jesus christ. god sent jesus to earth to save us from our sins. he took our sins to the cross. he shed his blood and died, was buried, and god raised him to life on the third day. if you have never trusted him, if you have never put your faith in the embodiment of truth, the lord jesus christ, you can do that right now. just pray this prayer with me. just say, "god i'm a sinner, i'm sorry, forgive me. "i want to turn from my sins, "i believe that jesus christ is your son. "i want to trust him as my savior, "and follow him as my lord. "from this day forward. if you prayed that prayer, call that number right now. god bless you!

>> tucker: this isn't just a news program. there's a game show component. it's called "final exam." we don't just if you will people off the street compete. we find actual news professionals, people who watch the news for a living, to determine who's been paying the closest attention to what has been happening in the world this week's contestants are both cohosts of "outnumbered."
5:39 pm
kailey mcnaney -- i've gotten inside tips on who might have the advantage but -- >> emily. >> tucker: i'm not going to reveal those. >> i have the reflexes of a sloth so. >> tucker: i can say sincerely i'm rooting for you both. you know the rules. i'm just going to repeat them just in case you have forgotten. hands on buzzers. i ask the questions. they're all the multiple choice. the first person to buzz in gets to answer. all possible answers or for answering. get it wrong, you lose a point. best of five wins. are you ready? >> ready to go. >> tucker: this is an amazing story. i know you'll know the answer. a massachusetts woman protesting an eviction has been charged with assault and battery for attacking the police in a very unusual way. what weapon did she use? was it, a, a ferret, b, venomous snakes or, c a swarm
5:40 pm
of bees. >> i'm going to go with a, a ferret. that would be fun! >> tucker: that's a traditional weapon of ev eees -- evictees? >> she unleashed a swarm of bees on sheriff's deputies. they say she smashed a lid over to agitate the bees and make them more aggressive. >> tucker: wow! bees, not the ferret. i'm pro-police but i'm kind of impressed. bees. you never hear that. ok, take a look at the picture of your screen. it's an extreme close up of a bug's face. the question is what kind of bug is it? a, a bed bug? b, ant? c, black horned beetle? >> it is an ant!
5:41 pm
i saw this. it's terrifying! >> tucker: ok. we're going to see if you're correct. that's your guess. here's the answer. >> we're about to show you something that will haunt your dreams. >> it's a close up of a face that borders on demonic. look at it. it has angry red eyes. >> it's impressive. >> you're doing great. you're doing great. you're doing great. >> tucker: it was an ant. we move onto question three. congratulations, by the way. here is that question, every october hundreds of people flock to a place called casterly, belgium, for a very different of race. participants dress in halloween costumes and paddle across a lake in boats made of what? a, pumpkins, b, plastic bottles, c, rubber ducks? emily? >> guessing c, rubber ducks.
5:42 pm
>> tucker: that who have been my guess, too. i have no idea whether that's correct or not but we'll find out. is it boats of rubber ducks? >> check out this annual belgium halloween tradition. >> i knew there was a rubber duck event somewhere. >> tucker: i would have thought rubber duck, too, but it's a massive pumpkin. this is a prince harry question. prince harry is releasing a tell-all memoir described as emotionally powerful and remarkably personal about his life in the public eye. the name of the book has just been revealed. is it, a, ginger and miserable, my wife as a royal sellout. is it, b, my crazed narcissistic wife is a nightmare? is it, c, spare? >> i'm going to go with c. >> tucker: you don't think
5:43 pm
