a possible huge break in a 2017 murder case, two young girls in indiana. malta reports model reports say police took a man into custody, went to the delphi murders. ashley strohmeyer has details. >> reporter: it is an unsolved high profile case for 5 years. libby williams and abigail williams vanished in 2017 and were last seen being dropped off by libby's sister at a popular hiking trail at a small indiana town and never seen alive again. their bodies were found the next day around noon. multiple reports indicate indianapolis police have a man in custody in connection with the murders. 50-year-old richard allen was booked in the carroll county jail but moved for his protection. allen's connection to the girls as unclear but libby's sister

those were the ones we encountered. yesterday in a "fox and friends" town hall i spoke to locals in the border sector to see how this is impacting them. here's what they had to say. it is clear to me you all think this is a dire emergency. i will start with you. you are a prosecutor. you work in the law area but also a ranch. >> we had to change the way they kids. the kids if they hear helicopters or sirens have to run home. they are instructed to do that when they are outside. that is happening in the united states. when you have a house with your front door you don't go to sleep with the front door open because you want to protect your family. right now we sleep with our front door open as a nation because of the policies we have and the terrorist numbers will show that and i worry what the future holds for the nation.

rachel: what are you seeing as a rancher? >> you can see them on game cams. one of the interesting things is we have a radio tower on our property and we are told by border patrol agents that they are catching people 30, 40, 50, 60 miles away from us and they have their roots mapped out on their phones and that radio tower on our ranch is the first point in the united states. they have been given this route and that's one of the things they are using. that is scary. we don't see them coming through in the dark of night. rachel: you told me if people could hear the stories you and your husband who is also law enforcement tell about the things they have seen they wouldn't believe it. >> we talked about this. between agents and law enforcement and people here, we

persons in one day is chaotic. >> there was no federal help. >> i spoke to chief ortiz about federal response. it wasn't until days into the event that it came down to del rio, texas. rachel: if fox news hadn't had drones, what anything have happened under the bridge? would you have seen a response? >> i don't think it would have been as swift. we took initiative. i was trying to direct traffic myself, vehicles that were parked through the del rio side, just to bring attention to the crisis that was happening under commercial traffic. that in combination with fox covering it did amplify our voices and that is something i am speaking on. this is an international crisis, economic and committal crisis of great proportion.

>> you are former border patrol. >> former cbp officer. rachel: you used to be a lifelong democrat and you said it is the border issue that made you are republican. explain. >> the border issue was a top priority for me and i was conscious when i was a democrat that this was an issue that was going on for many years and it was both parties, administrations, they dropped it time after time after time, but what i did notice was when trump came on board he brought this to light because everybody at the border knew we had an issue for decades. when he came down i noticed how the media, you know which media i'm talking about, put him down along with leadership from the democrats and that is when i said i need to jump over to the other side because that is the side that is strong in regards to border.

rachel: it is a trend, we will see if the former mayor might switch parties here. let's get you quick, frank, you're running for congress as an independent, the border issue is your top issue. >> the only border patrol agent on the border running for office and the reason i'm running as an independent is the republican congressman tony gonzalez voted for the january 6th commission, in san antonio, one of the biggest, he pushed to vaccinate border patrol agents, pushed to fly illegal aliens out of laughlin air force base and people are tired of politicians only using them for their vote. people want action. that's why i am running for congress. rachel: you said the hospital's are overrun and you are worried about services. >> it is like a fireman bringing buckets of gas to a burning house and throwing money at the problem to make the pipeline bigger for more

people to come in. our hospital districts, local sheriffs, local law enforcement and communities that pick up the tab and it is resulting in people having to wait for hours just to get emergency care and i'm talking about americans pushed to the back of the line so illegal aliens are pushed to the front. and border regions we are tired of it. rachel: you are a former journalist or currently a journalist, you were. you said the center, the root of the problem, kamala harris said get to the root of the problem. you said the root of the problem is the ngos. give me some insight. >> they go to foreign countries where you have asylum-seekers and refugees and they encourage them to come to the united states and release documents behind and take on a new identity and they produce

paperwork for them. when they have the paperwork to some city in the united states, they got rid of the whole neighborhood of people. make them lose their properties to eminent domain and build two story homes for foreigners to come in on taxpayer money as we are paying for this. why are we wasting state and federal funding? rachel: you really feel the frustration of the people who live along the border. that was such a diverse group, hispanics, white people, democrats, independents, republicans. all of them united on the issue of the border and saying that they know that the democrat party that president biden is simply as frank lopez explained, expanding the capacity to process them and doing nothing to stop them at the border.

lessons learned. in a new documentary fox weather meteorologist amy freeze was covering the storm and she joins us now. i'm excited you are hear from fox weather. you are on your show on fox weather right now so thank you for taking some time, 10 years since super storm sandy. amy:we went into the neighborhoods and talked to folks who lost their homes and when they look back, they sold their homes. when they look back at the storm they would do things different, they would have evacuated but they loved living close to the ocean. will: some people evacuate and nothing happens and sometimes you don't and everything becomes dangerous so that is a hard lesson to learn but the messaging around super storm sandy was hard for meteorologist. it was a super storm, really a hurricane but we couldn't call it a hurricane at the last minute.
