in georgia and lucas tomlinson outside the white house. but we start first with rich edson in harrisburg, pennsylvania, where all eyes are on the nail-biter race between fetterman and oz. rich, good afternoon. >> reporter: good afternoon, mike. this is a government union headquarters here in harrisburg, the capital city of pennsylvania, john fetterman just finished rallying supporters here, he's been highlighting union workers here, the union vote. of he was rallying with union officials and workers yesterday in the philadelphia area. he said at this rally here that he plans on continuing to recover from his stroke, and he wants to win this election. >> c. oz has never forgotten every day that i had a stroke. in january i'll be much better, but he will still be a fraud. >> reporter: oz ripped fetterman for refusing to debate, and when he agreed, did so only once, two weeks before

election day, and after hundreds of thousands of early votes had been cast. oz and republicans nationwide have been campaigning on inflation, making the case democrat stimulus spending and turnaway from fossil fuels has raised costs across the country. the oz campaign's communications director says, quote: pennsylvania cannot afford more of the same with john fetterman's disastrous and dangerous ideas to put pennsylvania inmates back on our streets, decriminalize our drugs and prioritize criminals over safer communities. president biden is now getting involved. he's joining former president obama at rallies next weekend in philly and pittsburgh. down the stretch biden has also been mentioning this race much more often. >> yeah, i thought he was really good. i thought he gnaw what he was doing, i thought he was strong. look, fetterman is pennsylvania. i mean, fetterman is everything that he appears to be. we know where he stands, he has great courage, he has no

reluctance to say what he thinks. he's my kind of guy, and i think he's going to be fine. he's getting better and better. he had a stroke, he's recovering. thank you, all. >> reporter: former president trump will be hosting a rally in latrobe, pennsylvania, with oz. the fetterman campaign says they look forward to tying oz and trump together. the oz campaign says they look forward to tying biden and fetterman together. mike? mike: rich edson live in harrisburg, pennsylvania, thanks very much. in georgia the race for governor is entering its final sprint. opponents brian kemp and stacey abrams will face off on the debate stage for the last time tonight. charles watson is live in atlanta with the latest. hello, charles. >> reporter: yeah, hey, good afternoon, mike. republican senate candidate herr herschel walker has former president obama on his mind. the former president was here in georgia on friday where he had sharp criticism of walker. he questioned walker's will to actually want to help people and

called him suspect. walker has just responded. here's what he had to say to the former president. >> two years ago he told us to vote for joe biden, didn't he? if. to deliver an impressive performance in her final debate existence governor brian kemp -- against governor brian kemp on issues such as the economy and inflation. in fulton county, georgia, saturday, abrams made the case why she's better for georgia's economy. she touched on a number of issues including her plan to give teachers pay raises and expand affordable housing, things he said are only afforded to the privileged under kemp. >> we're going to have a governor who believes in all of us, who believes in one georgia, who doesn't believe that it's an old boys' club, believes that it is one georgia that belongs to every one of us. >> reporter: yeah, and the kemp campaign had this ponce to abrams saying many a statement, quote: the people of our state know that abrams only offers the same failed leadership they see with democratic control in washington which created 40-year-high inflation that's hitting americans in the wallet every day. meanwhile, governor kemp has been fighting for georgia families and with more than 1.5

senator chris coons on "fox news sunday." >> the folks who i've been campaigning with are running on our record. chair mcdaniels just said we're running away from it, but we're running on it because we've got real accomplishments to point to. >> reporter: inflation's been over 7.5% all year, mike, numbers in the seen in this country in 40 years. inflation peaked in june when gas was over $5 a gallon. the numbers have come down a little since, gas now $3.76 a gallon, still about 60% higher than when biden was sworn in. the latest inflation data says inflation is now at 8.2%, it was only 1.4% when bidenning took office. colorado's one of the states republicans are looking for an upset pick-up. >> we're dead even with the independents, that's who matters here in colorado. 45% of our electorate is independents. >> reporter: "the wall street journal" says that economists think there's a 6 if 3% of a recession in the next 123

mike: rich or around, do you agree with the majority leader's analysis? >> i think anytime you see is chuck schumer, he knows there's a hot mic there, and he's making this very intentional. when you think about the dynamics of the race in pennsylvania specifically, it's this: for john fetterman, he set the bar very low. if he completes the debate, that's a win for the fetterman campaign. dr. oz had to prove to the people of pennsylvania that he, one, lived there, two, he cared about their issues and, three, he was able to deal with the fact that on the other side was somebody recovering from a stroke. now did fetterman perform at that debate, and i do think if you talk to folks on the ground in pennsylvania, what they'll tell you is this: the dynamics of that race has pretty much remained the same. will it be a nail-biter? it absolutely will. is it possible that fetterman will pull out? it'll come down to turnout in two places, philadelphia and pittsburgh. if they turn out, it is john fetterman's night. if they do not, dr. oz wins it.

mike: all right. our fox news power rankings suggests fetterman/oz is a toss-up, walker/warnock in georgia also a toss-up. what do you think, erin? >> i agree. nobody is going in pennsylvania and hitting that as a 7, 8-point lead. but to the independent voter that remains in pennsylvania, there's a really interesting opportunity to talk to them right now, and it is the world series. we're talking about the fact that the philadelphia phillies are praying and the fact -- playing and that tv campaigns can buy t ads into those races -- tv ads. that's an electorate that's likely less political, but fetterman's camp has only bought for one. if we're talking about who's going to try to do good turnout in philly, looks like the oz campaign has the strategy for that. mike: all right, arizona, another battle ground. mark kelly verse is the blake -- versus blake masters is also a

toss-up. what about arizona, richard? >> that's an interesting one, because i think you're going to see some split-ticket voting. some folks are going to go to the polls, punch a republican for governor or a democrat for the governor or republican for the senate. i think in this case mark kelly's going to pull this one out. he's the incumbent. his wife, michigan gabby give orders, as we know was wounded in gun violence, but i think once again -- not only is this going to be tight, but we're not going to see it decided on election night. we're going to to wait to maybe friday to see how this comes out. and in georgia specifically, here's the truth. for both stacey abrams as well as rafael warnock, there's a second ball game here. after you get through tuesday, if none of these candidates get above 50%, we go to a runoff, and in a runoff in early december it's going to be the can you turn out your base versus the other person's base as the whole country watches and all, both parties' money, goes

to the peach state. mike: so you're saying christmas in georgia, got it. [laughter] the governor's race in the great state of arizona features a tough-talking former tv news anchor, kari lake. let's play it. >> we have a crisis on day one we're calling it what it is, an invasion, and we're going to send our national guard to the border, start to stop people from coming over and take on the cartels and end their fentanyl trafficking through arizona. it's as simple as that. mike: erin, no surprise she's hitting the border crisis hard in battleground arizona. >> absolutely, because it's a message that a resonates so deeply with the people of arizona. they've seen nonstop cartels coming across, they've been living the reality of illegal immigrants pouring across the border, what it does to their local resources and their communities and what the human trafficking and the fentanyl deaths. losing someone to a drug overdose is so traumatic, or a poisoning. this is a woman who's unafraid

to step up and say these are the crises to address, and she'll call the media on any if attempt to distract from what voters want to talk about which is the crisis they face every day at the southern border. mike: all right. i want to get your predictions because we're in crunch time here. senate, does it stay democratic? what's your thought? >> i think we're going to have to wait to see, but i will say for ms. lake, i don't think it's that simple. the idea of saying there's an invasion and she can send national guard troops there, that's not how it works. it has to to come back to washington, and the truth to immigration will be in the capitol. it's not going to come from senator -- governor lake or if it's governor abbott. it's going to come from here in washington with lawmakers actually reforming our broken, old and outdated immigration laws. mike: do democrats keep the senatesome. >> i do think republicans are going to take the senate. i think we're going to pull nevada, and with that, we're

attacked my husband paul. our children, our grandchildren and i are heartbroken and traumatized by the life-threatening attack on our pop. the suspect allegedly shouts where's nancy, where's nancy after breaking into their home. police have not confirmed a motive in this case, but yesterday at several campaign stops some top democrats either said or insinuated that this attack was motivated by right-wing politics. >> this habit of saying the worst about other people, demonizing people, that creates a dangerous climate. >> t going to be dependent on all of us to tone down the rhetoric. let's get back to substance and have debates about issues and do our part to, you know, tone down conspiracy theories, you know, rampant lies. >> reporter: but again, police have not confirmed a motive in this case, and lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are

condemning the attack. today on "sunday morning futures," house republican leader kevin mccash think says e is wrong and has no place in our community. >> i reached out and called the speaker. she was on a plane back for her husband, so we were able to communicate by text. she did say that the surgery went well. i wanted to convey that our thoughts and prayers were with her and her family and with paul, and we hope for him a speedy recovery and that we're able to stop this crime across our country. >> reporter: as for the suspect, 42-year-old david depape, "the new york post" reports bly residents described him as a drug-addicted homeless man who used to live with a radical nudist activist and has lived in an empty school bus from time to time. he reportedly claimed that he can talk to angels, and he's also accused of making a lot of disturbing content online, posting everything from covid, qanon and election conspiracy theories to anti-semitic comments and posts about aliens

muck. mike: you're looking at live images from our southern border wher the midterms approach. border officials are facing stiff challenges with encounters climbing. nate foy is live on the ground in eagle pass, texas, with the latest on the mounting crisis. good afternoon, nate. >> reporter: hey, mike, good afternoon to you. the largest group that we have seen cross the border illegally all week was this morning at 7 central time, 8 a.m. eastern time. about 100 yards from where i'm standing right now is the rio grande, and i want to show you how this works. migrants cross the river, they make their way through this thick brush. you see this belt has been tied

to this fence fence to prop it up so they can crawl underneath the fen, and you see just loads of trash left behind. the foreman of this ranch here in normandy tells us this is about two days' worth of accumulation. it takes another two days to clean all of this. a lot of migrants come with wet clothes, obviously, and then they change into clean clothes here and then heir processed by border patrol. our infrared drone captured this large group, again, the largest group that we have seen all week here in eagle pass and normandy. normandy has been a hot spot, but this is the biggest group we have seen. again, nearly 400. a lot of cubans and colombians, single adult men as well as some women and children mixed in as well. these are the migrants who want to turn themselves in to border patrol, but some don't. we have a chase out of kinney county that reached speeds of 140 miles an hour. the driver was an 18-year-old out of san antonio. he was carrying three illegal

migrants in the car. the sheriff says they've had over 100 human smuggling arrests just in that one county this month. but other counties are dealing with the same thing, mike. take a look at this out of uvalde county, the car stops and then the driver and two illegal migrants bail out. the driver was ared. both migrants were ap rehedgedded and hen referred to border patrol. take a look at this, mike. border patrol agents in the del rio sector arrested two sex to fennellers, both of them -- offenders, both of them mexican nationals. both of them were found to sexually assault children, one in 2013, the other in 2016. back out here live, mike, i can tell you for the first time today 59 migrants were arrested by texas dps for criminal trespassing. that's because the owner of this ranch has now signed an agreement so that all these migrants who come on this

with voters. >> they're not interested in solving problems. they're interesting in making you angry. and then finding somebody the blame. and they're hoping that that'll distract you from the fact that they don't have any answers of their own. >> the former president was campaigning for the lieutenant governor, mandela barnes, who says the two-term senator, johnson, has been in washington too long. >> aren't we all tired of being left behind by politicians who would rather serve their wealthy donors than us? we all are going to turn our backs on ron johnson. >> reporter: the former president was campaigning for the ticket. now, senator johnson is on the campaign trail again tonight in she beau boy began, wisconsin, on day three of ron's road tour with dozens of stops on a massive bus called the ron mobile. with little more than 3 percentage points between them, the race is far closer hand anticipated.

14%. are inflation and the broader economy the main issue that you're hearing from your constituents, congressman? >> absolutely, mike. and it is halloween tomorrow, and what has scared most americans right now is not halloween, it's the high price of everything. we're experiencing the highest inflation crisis in 41 years. it's, everything costs more. the price at the pump, heating your home, electricity, the grocery store. and why is this happening? it's because of policy mistakes. it's because democrats went on a spending binge over the last two years. the national debt is now $31 trillion, and and that overspending created excess demand. and then at the very same time, democrats waged a war on american energy, constraining supply. so you have a basic supply/demand mismatch, paying

people to not work, labor shortages and then declaring war on american energy, not producing energy through holding up permits, killing the keystone xl pipeline and then weaponizing financial regular regulation -- regulation through the environment aral, social and governance investing movement and through the security and exchange commission's rell regulation, depriving american energy of the financing that they need to make sure that we're energy independent. that supply/demand mismatch has pushed up prices, and as a result, the average more than family is spending $8,000 more for the same goods and services that they were paying for just two year ago. this economy is not working, it's totally unaffordable. that's why the voters are going to make a big change in november. mike: then there's the crime crisis across much of the country. new york city up more than 30 percent. of chicago up 39%. san francisco up 7.4%. how is claim playing in your

district and across the commonwealth of kentucky? >> it's a big deal. crime's a big deal not just in the congressional races, but in the races for the state legislature, for mayor, for local government. the american people, my constituents in central kentucky, they're scared because of rising crime rates. had hads are up 50%. -- homicides are up 50%. aggravated assaults up 36%. you saw what happened to paul pelosi, the tragedy there in san francisco. maybe democrats will figure out that defunding the police is a bad idea. it's soft on crime policies. you heard governor desantis and future governor lee zeldin talk about it in new york. the crime wave that's happening across the country is because of soft on crime policies. ending cash bail, defunding the police, the democrats' crazy idea in congress pushing this idea of allowing frivolous lawsuits against law enforcement. that's why in my hometown of lexington, kentucky, we have a

hundred fewer police officers on the street than what we need. louisville, kentucky, we need 500 more police officers. louisville, kentucky, is becoming a crime wave city like chicago. and it doesn't have to be this way. we just need to have tough on crime policies and start funding, not defunding the police. mike: congressman andy barr of the commonwealth of kentucky, thank you so much for your time, and we'll see how the midterms play out. >> good to be with you. mike: and prosecute other side of the aisle, texas democrat and member of the house financial services committee and homeland security committees, al green. congressman green, welcome. >> thank you for having me. mike mike so you heard your colleague from the commonwealth of kentucky. what about inflation, and how do you argue your point on the campaign trail? >> well, the truth is this, that inflation as is defined by my colleagues is not entirely correct because the spending binge that he spoke of was what

democrats did to make sure that when we had a global pandemic, poem were able to have food on the table, that people were able to have a roof over their heads, that people were able to have money in their pockets. i suppose my colleagues would have simply said let them starve, let them get e victimmed, let them do as best as they can. that's sort of a live and let live philosophy. that's not my philosophy. i'm a live and help live philosopher. so i contend the interest rates concern pardon me, the inflation rate he's talking about, wety not create. here's another thing that's really important. let's talk about what really has created inflation. this inflation is caused by oil companies not wanting to increase refinery capacity. they don't want to increase refining capacity because they are making huge profits by not doing so and, in fact, are shutting town refineries.

if you shut down the refineries, you have fewer products, much less product, much less oil. and if having much less oil then causes the prices to go up. thank god for the president who dipped into the strategic petroleum reserve so that we can maintain some stability with our oil prices. mike: congressman, what do you say to those who say that the biden administration energy policies are responsible in part for driving up those energy prices? >> i say to them talk to the oil companies that refuse to refine the oil that is available to be refined, that could be refined and placed in the market so that with more oil in the market prices will go down. but oil companies are making huge profits. why would they want to bring prices down? that's not an incentive. they want to keep prices high, and they're doing so by not bringing on new refineries and by so doing, closing refineries,

by the way, they are, in fact, causing less oil to be on the market. mike: you represent the great city of houston, texas. how big is the crime crisis? in many of our major american cities, how is it playing in your ticket? >> let's talk about what i heard my colleague say. he talked about san francisco. i have some empirical data in hand. san francisco had a murder rate that was half that of bakersfield, california. bakersfield has a red mayor, san francisco has a blue mayor, and that's ms. pelosi's home. by the way, ms. pelosi, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. bakersfield is the home of mr. mccarthy, the minority leader. so i think we ought to compare states as well as cities. my colleagues are very good at creating alternative facts. but the truth is, according to that statistical information, in 2020 the per capita murder rates

the agreement has been a way to get much-needed food supplies out of the war zone here in ukraine to need item countries. secretary of state branded it weaponizing food. russia blames the move on alleged ukrainian drone strikes on its naval ships in occupied crimea. ukraine is, forat least -- so far at least, denying responsibility. this as fighting in the eastern and southern parts of this country continues nonstop. a major battle is brewing in the coming weeks as ukraine tries to retaining take the important russian-held city of kherson. amid all of this turmoil, many here are trying to put their damaged lives and homes back together again. take a look at what we saw. this family at the time. amazingly they, like others in the building, survived. where did the projects hit? -- rockets hit? >> [inaudible] >> and this is what it looks like now, the apartment is being rebuilt. tatiana and her family want to come back. over 600 buildings in kyiv alone have been damaged since the war started, neighbors kicked in to start repairs. work is also being paid for by the government despite the threat of more war, for tatiana, it's worth it. >> we will come back here, and i will live here. >> reporter: tatiana and other folks wanting to come back to that building are also being helped with donations from outside of ukraine via their charity, save my home. this reconstruction task, mike, is a huge one. the latest cost estimate at least $350 billion, and as we all know, this war is not over. back to you. mike: yeah. huge job ahead.

special. joining me now live is uso o and ceo j.d. crouch. j.d., welcome. >> great to be here. mike: so what ice your wonderful organization doing to make the holidays better for military families, particularly the youngest members of those families? >> right. this kicks off our busiest time of year, the holiday season. this is what people miss the most, they miss the time around the thanksgiving dinner table, the christmas celebration and halloween. we've got halloween things going on all over the world at our 250 locations from guam, they're doing a big holiday parade. we're up at fort bragg with a monster bash going on there. in germany the kids will be doing holiday activities. so it's every one of our usos is really activate ad. and it's about the kids but it's also about the service members. we've got service members in poland and romania right now, and they're missing their holiday parties as well. we're going to have halloween activities for them and a way for them to connect back home.

mike make what do military families who are watching do in terms of finding out about activities you guys are hosting in their area? >> either contact your local uso on your base or go to uso.org/holidays to get more information on how you can either be a part of one of these celebrations or also support them. mike: so after several years of covid lockdowns and precautions and that sort of thing, do you feel like the holiday celebrations are going to be a lot more normal this year? >> absolutely, absolutely. all of our centers are open. we've got, you know, patrons coming in. our numbers are back up to sort of pre-covid times. so we're expecting a lot of demand this year. as people, you know, really are thirsting for getting out and getting together. mike: what more do you want to tell the audience about the great work the uso is doing? >> went we're hope -- when we're home for our holidays, having christmas around the tree, we've got about 10,000 americans in poland and romania right now who
