solution to speech you don't like is to add in your voice to the conversation. and now -- so these celebrities they're kind of self sensoring themselves and i don't think the names are really big enough to move the needle. they have their fans and that's fine but i think it's interesting this mentality that is really pervasive right now especially on college campuses where you can't be around any speech that you don't like so you have to remove yourself from the conversation entirely. >> todd: the left doesn't want other kids in their sand box if they don't play exactly the same way that they do and that's the problem. college campuses are a perfect example. these people want twitter to be a college campus. well not so under elon musk. they don't want a robust exchange of ideas because they don't want to be challenged on their ideas which many people often think are horrible ideas. what i find fascinating about all of this, it is important to point this out every time we do this story, elon musk, that guy right there, should be their god because he makes all of the electric cars that they all want us to drive in their climate

go until the elections? >> absolutely not but it's a message she's been sending. she advocated for defunding the police and that's something that we obviously see is a terrible, terrible decision. but this is not surprising. stacey abrams has made these salacious comments whenever her back is against the wall since the beginning going back to 2018. this is why i was so happy to see governor kemp stay focused on the issues. he talked about inflation, education and crime. those are the three things that are really really plaguing our communities right now and what we need to be talking about. so stacey abrams, her pivoting to these salacious comments is done so that she can dodge the how question. so she throws out all of these potential outcomes that she wants in her your topian dream but she never has a how or plan and makes empty promises and we think we often see that. >> todd: you brought up something interest aring. back against the wall. did you see thatten a say this was purposeful or did you see this and say she's been hammered

so much on the defund police issue and had all her stock issues and finally she just cracked and let everybody know what her real, rebelief is? >> yeah, i think it was a little bit of that. and the thing about it is and what i've seen, particularly when it comes to minority democrats, is that they love to go to the race card and play the racism card whenever they feel like they are in a position where they need some emotional support. and it's emotionally triggering. i feel like it's a very disrespectful attack. it shows that our law enforcement, it tells the community that the law enforcement here in georgia is somehow all racist. i sit on the board of corrections and we work closely with law enforcement and i can tell you right away that that is not true. my husband was a black candidate and he was endorsed by a sheriff. so that is not true. and i think that she knows that but she just wants to see how far does she go to try to trigger this emotional card. >> carley: and, janelle, on the race point, more than

1.6 million georgians have already cast their ballot this election cycle, which is a record high for the midterms. but you still have democrats, karine jean-pierre, saying high voter turnout doesn't mean that there isn't election voter suppression. how do you square those two? >> i want them to prove it. i get tired of hearing them saying that, no, no, no, don't see what you're seeing, don't believe what's right in front of you. instead, believe me. i'm telling you there's suppression although i'm not going to prove it to you. that's what they're saying it's absolutely ridiculous. i don't know anyone, particularly in minority community, of any community, that is struggling to go vote. if you want to vote, go vote. and there's nothing stopping you and they know that. they just want to continue to perpetuate at the expense of my community. >> todd: it seems that if you listen to the polls brian kemp has a very sizable lead over stacey abrams broadening this out to the entire state on that same ballot will abrams parent

care about the most. >> carley: meanwhile the federal reserve is gearing up for another blistering rate hike to pick up the administration's slack. ashley strohmier is live in the studio with more ashley. >> ashley: that's right. inflation and the economy are dominating concerns heading into the midterms according to the latest abc poll. 28% of voters say the economy will be the single most important issue when it comes to casting a ballot for congress the next is inflation at 22%, abortion trailing behind 16%, climate change coming in last at 5%. however when white house press secretary karine jean-pierre was pressed on inflation being a big worry for voters, this was her response. >> when the president walked into this administration, the economy was in ruins. it was in absolute ruins. we saw unemployment was at about 6.4%. and so now because of this president's policies, unemployment is at 3.5%, historic lows, we haven't seen

that in 50 years. >> ashley: republicans agreeing the cost of living is still number one in most americans eyes pointing blame at the biden administration. >> these families are struggling from the price of gas to the grocery stores and now we have halloween coming and with this biden inflation, candy is up 13%. so people want to see a real change and that's exactly what we promote. we have a plan out there with the commitment to america. we're very clear exactly what we'll do if we're trusted with getting the majority. >> ashley: and seat up for grabs in the swing state of nevada but inflation isn't slowing down there either. >> it's still very close. we're a tough swing state but i think a lot of it is because in nevada inflation was already 16%. our gas prices have hit $6. and so all of these issues that are kind of coming late, we've already been experiencing. >> ashley: so the midterm debate around prices comes as another rate hike is expecteded from the fed this week, an increase of

income, but even now i'm starting to get impacted by it. i have an adult child that has to come back home because the housing crisis is really also hit us pretty hard up here in maine. >> carley: yeah. >> ashley: lot of people out of homes right now and a lot of people not able to afford the increases in the rents. >> carley: rent is going up across the board as well. yeah, your daughter's coming home so it's affect people of all ages. and heating oil for residents now is more than $5 per gallon in maine and most of the us when just last year it was only $2 per gallon. i know you're also hearing from some of your patients about what they're going through. what are they telling you? >> it's not just patients, it's people i know. it's everywhere. i have -- actually, i do know of a couple people who are

currently about to lose their place that they're living in and, of course, that's taken quite a toll on that person. another person has had to choose medication -- rather food over medications at this point. it's just crippling, it's very crippling and it's sad to see. >> carley: it is so sad to see when the conversation around the water cooler is about the cost of gas, it's not a good place for the country to be in. does inflation or gas prices or the economy in general, will that impact who you vote for in the midterm elections? >> i'm going to be voting for the person who basically is attentive to the needs that are going on. because it's not just the northeast it's the entire country that's feeling this

walk free on a personal bond without posting money. archie hamilton joins us now. how broken is the system that this guy keeps getting released archie? >> it's absurd. it's absolutely absurd. he has extremely violent criminal history. he refuses to cooperate with the police. he never goes easy. with all of that, he's at home right now. >> todd: why does a judge seem so committed to protecting this guy and not the public? because, keep in mind, this guy has also bragged about getting in high speed chases because he says there's no consequences to him. there's consequences to, you know, the pedestrian that he hits. so why is the judge so eager to protect him? >> yeah, that's the problem. you know, we have a small percentage of magistrates and judges and they don't focus on the victims or potential victims. instead they just focus on the

person in front of them or the narrative they want to protect. somebody like tobias cattrone is a danger to society. he brags about shooting people, stabbing people, makes it clear he intimidates witnesses to get off charges and has done so. the man has been charged with very violent crimes and with all those circumstances he's able to go free and get away with the crimes he's committing. and, you know, the lenient bonds in this country, that coupled with the restrictive police pursuit policies, it's really empowering criminals to go out there and keep committing crimes. >> todd: archie, what does this do to morale among police? >> it's absolutely demoralizing for the police officers. you know, we want our police officers to go out there and proactive. go find the wolf hiding in the shadows, right? they do so, they risk their own

welfare when doing this, and then, hours later, the person that they risked their life capturing is free again, free to go victimize more people. >> todd: that makes no sense and i would not be able to do my job under those circumstances, i'm just saying. crime is ranking real high on a lot of main issues for voters, you see it on almost every single poll. when voters see a guy like this, are they inclined to influence their vote accordingly? are they inclined, hey, normally i would vote for person x but i'm voting for the hard core anti crime candidate this year because i can't take it anymore? >> well, i sure hope the voters are listening. i hope the lawmakers are listening. because i can tell you this. you know, we've seen in the last two years or so, we've seen a trend, you know, where empowering these criminals, nobody stops for the police anymore. our vehicle pursuits have went up about 900 percent just with

our agency alone and it doesn't stop here in the detroit area, it's all through our nation. and, you know, the resolve for that is, let's make our policies restrictive. no chase policies. those are absolutely not the answer. absolutely not. that's encouraging people to run. instead, we need our lawmakers to act in each respective state and those lawmakers need to make it an enhanced penalty for fleeing and alluding the police, mandatory prison time. that is the only way we will deter criminals from running. because right now we're telling them, hey, there's a reward if you run because police will turn off your lights and you're home free and that's completely wrong. >> todd: we need to make people like this worry about doing bad things. otherwise, they're going to continue doing the bad things. deputy chief archie hamilton, thank you, sir. critics are calling this washington post report propaganda for linking the attack on paul pelosi to, quote, years of gop demonizing.
