facing americans and that happens to be the number one issue, economy and inflation, i think, is actually probably effecting us even more than the economy. >> steve: every day. >> ainsley: when it comes to the economy, you might have gotten a raise at your job. buff is it enough to cover that 8 point whatever percent with inflation. probably not. you know. so, i was talking to the owner of this restaurant. i said, how is it affecting you? he said eggs used to be $1 per dozen. now they're 144 per 30 dozen. so they have gone up tremendously. chicken doubled per price per pound. all paper product have increased and supply chain still broken. marjorie in little containers in to go food. notice the next time you get it three or four different brands of margarine or foil to go on top of the butter. we buy as much from our individual owners or vendors.

straight interest rate hike this week in an attempt to shoot down inflation. seems to be the only weapon. comes days before the midterms with soaring prices on top of american minds. here with what it all means, the host of varney and company and the host of american built we'll get to shortly on fox business stuart varney. stuart, this is for our long-term good to raise rates again that's coming in december? >> let's get it straight. there's an interest rate hike this wednesday. day after tomorrow. and it's going to be a big one. 75 bases point as they say in the industry. if they don't do a big rate hike. jay powell losing some credibility. probably almost certainly you are going to get a big hike wednesday. now, that's gonna have a mortgage rates they have already doubled in the past six months they are going to go up some more. paying 7% now on a 30 year fixed that's probably going to 7.5%. maybe 8%. it's going to cost you more to borrow for a car.
