hopes on former president obama. >> bill: he was stumping wasn't he? georgia, michigan, wisconsin. a desperate attempt to drum up enthusiasm. democrats bracing for what could be a bad night. watch. >> i understand why you might sometimes just want to tune out. just watch football. but i'm here to tell you that tuning out, milwaukee, is not an option. you have a choice between folks who will say anything and do anything to get power, and leaders who share our values. >> dana: underscoring democrats' concerns the fact that new york is now seen as a battleground state. lee zeldin has a real chance to become the state's first republican governor in two decades bringing in heavy weight surrogates to help him over the finish line. >> the other thing he will do and what new york really needs

6:03 am
we're here in westchester county in thornwood north of new york city. today you can see they are getting ready for the rally. behind me is the zeldin bus. republican nominee lee zeldin will be getting high-power help this morning from down south. accompanied on the campaign trail in westchester county by virginia governor glenn youngkin. westchester north of new york city similar to the middle and upper class suburbs of virginia where residents are concerned about taxes, quality of life and such. yesterday zeldin said the theme today will be education. he wants to try to replicate some of governor youngkin's policies on education that youngkin has imposed in the commonwealth. stricter testing. charter schools and dealing with some of the gender issues. another major issue in public education is giving parents more
6:04 am
say. >> the focus of governor youngkin as it relates to education policy specifically, very much in tune with the education policy feedback that i get from parents in westchester and in those surrounding areas. i believe that parents should have a fundamental right and have a fundamental right to control the upbringing of their child. >> for her part governor hochul campaigned in westchester county yesterday with first lady jill biden. only eight miles away. hochul has been addressing crime. something that has brought her campaign down in the polls. she claims that gun crimes are down and says that the perception of crime being very high in new york is actually wrong. >> crime is very important. people are concerned about it. there is a lot of fear out there. but for that to be extrapolated because i told him i don't know why i have to keep telling him why it's so important. i already know.
6:05 am
>> governor hochul later today will have a news conference with members of moms demand action, a gun safety group. as for mr. zeldin, he will campaign tomorrow in new york city and suffolk county. he had represented them in albany. in nine days we'll find out if he will go back to albany swapping the legislature for potentially the governor's mansion. that rally here in westchester later on today with governor glenn youngkin. >> lee zeldin will join us next hour. >> dana: tightening races across four key senate seats. nevada is neck-and-neck and in georgia, arizona, and pennsylvania democrats hold single digit leads. the party is hoping former president obama can come to their rescue. he will join president biden later this week in pennsylvania and that's where we find senior national correspondent rich
6:06 am
edson. hi, rich. >> good morning, dana. no public events for either senate candidate in pennsylvania. a busy weekend for john fetterman. we're a week and day out from election day. held a couple of events in philadelphia, here in harrisburg area as well appealing to union members and college students specifically holding an event at temple university in philly over the weekend. we're less than a week before the last three u.s. presidents, including the current one, come here to get involved in this campaign. president biden has been leaning more into this race. he invites vice president harris appeared with fetterman. biden and former president obama. biden has already been campaigning for fetterman. >> president biden: he is my kind of guy and i think he will be fine. he had a stroke and is recovering. he will get better and better. >> mehmet oz and his campaign
6:07 am
welcome the biden/fetterman connection. a statement they say joe biden and kamala harris refuse to fight violent crime, stop the flow of deadly drug across our border and combat skyrocketing inflation and gas prices. no distracting from this dangerous agenda. another president is planning to travel to pennsylvania on saturday, former president trump. he will be in west pennsylvania closer to pittsburgh, a fetterman aide says that campaign is looking forward to tying the former president to mehmet oz in all of this. tomorrow is the last day in pennsylvania that you can request an early ballot. early absentee voting has been going on for several weeks. if you don't apply for it by tomorrow you have to do it the old-fashioned way, show up election day eight days from now. >> bill: let's bring in marc thiessen on a moan. good morning. karine jean-pierre was on the
6:08 am
airwaves over the weekend talking about the mess that was inherited two years ago. >> when the president walked into this administration, the economy was in ruins. it was in absolute ruins. you saw unemployment at 6.4%. so now because of this president's policies, unemployment is at 3.5%, historic low in 50 years. >> bill: that or people were locked out of their jobs because of the pandemic. her phrase is the economy was in ruins and that's issue number one for so many across the country. how do you see that play, marc? >> they think the american people are stupid. literally. when joe biden came into office, unemployment -- the inflation was 1.4%. today it's 8.2%. he says it is not a record. it is a record. here is the proof that they know they're responsible for. have you seen a single ad touting the american rescue plan
6:09 am
by any candidate in any mid-term race across the country? you would think -- they passed 1.9 trillion in cash they handed out to people in stimulus checks and other things. when presidents and his party hand out cash they shout it from the rooftops. nobody is talking about it. the reason is they know the american people know that's what unleashed the inflation we're experiencing today. so you have in michael bennett, the debate the other day. o'day was asking him do you request the spending. he didn't say i'm glad we passed that spending and put money in the pockets of colorado forties. he pivoted and inflation and that's not our fault and it's global inflation. the democrats aren't running on biden's number one accomplishment in his eyes because it unleashed the inflation we're experiencing today. >> dana: not our fault is a theme. president biden blaming a lot of
6:10 am
people but himself. watch. >> they all want to keep ghastly prices low. the threat of the climate crisis can't wait any longer. >> most economists, including me, believe we'll be transitory. >> president biden: economists call all these things transitory effects. i will work like the devil to bring gas prices down. impediment to production in the united states called the bankers on wall street. it is largely the fault of putin. republican wins, inflation will get worse, that simple. >> dana: we can show you this, gas prices now versus when president biden took office is what people are feeling. 3.76 per gallon nationwide average. it was $2.39 when he took office. the democrats tried to do in the last few weeks is say if the republicans win, they will cut social security and medicare. which doesn't have a lot of teeth because you don't have republicans campaigning on that. >> no, not at all.
6:11 am
gas prices never went up above $3 under donald trump. biden broke that threshold in four months. the largest years over year gas price increase in 30 years before the war in ukraine and anything else. look, this is the reason why biden is so unpopular. he keeps saying things contradicting the lived reality of the american people. the least popular president in american history. they are going to get barack obama to step in on the campaign trail because biden is so unpopular. i looked at barack obama's record. he presided over the largest loss of power of any party in history going back to the 1950s. under his watch democrats lost 12 senate seats, 64 house seats, 939 state leather, 30 state legislative chambers he is electoral kryptonite. if he is their savior, they will need a lot more help than that. >> bill: a lot of math. thank you, marc, nice to see
6:12 am
you. last week i think you would agree like so many of the stories being written is that the republicans are on the march. it may be the case but i would venture this week a lot of these -- "the new york times" on the senate side now give the edge in arizona to a democrat and georgia and pennsylvania to democrat. they think nevada is a tie based on polling. everything is within the margin of error. you start to see an edge for democrats in some of the key senate races. we shall see. there is the drama. >> dana: you see polling that says that. if you look at votes on the ground and early turnout in nevada, republicans are crushing it and where the democrats seem to be a little reluctant. it seems to be a trend nationwide. we have eight days to go. things are going to tighten and be close. stick close to us at fox news and we have you covered on everything. oral arguments begin next hour at the supreme court in two high profile affirmative action cases. the justices considering whether

harvard and the university of north carolina can keep using race as a factor in admissions for the sake of diversity. chief legal correspondent shannon bream live outside the supreme court in washington. this case is very important and could have huge impacts and consequences across our country. >> you are exactly right. this is one of the things in covering the court for 15 years, this subject has come back again and again and again. as colleges and universities struggle with they say wanting to put together a very diverse incoming class and trying to find a careful way to do that when they are using race. the plaintiffs in this case are a group of asian american students saying essentially they're being subjected to discrimination because of some of the policies. they say that students who come in as black or latino applicants are much more weighted toward admission and winding up to be, they say, a backlash against them as asian american students whether they have equal or higher schools is their

complaint. harvard and unc say we're trying to do the best we can putting together the incoming policies. harvard said we haven't figured out a better way to do it and keep doing it. the current policy is that colleges and universities can use race. they have no narrowly tailer how they use it. you can't have exactly how many people from one group will get in. the case comes for the fourth time since i've been covering the court. we'll wait to see. went polling from "washington post" showed 63% of americans said they would actually be in favor of the supreme court banning or opposing these racial systems that are currently being used. colleges say they simply haven't figured out a better way to do it just yet. back to you. >> dana: interesting, shannon. you'll be there today and we'll catch up with you later. >> bill: 15 past. stunning infrared footage showing hundreds of migrants crossing over a private ranch. what the owner of that property is now calling for.

ground war with his troops and we've all seen the evidence of that ukrainians literally retaking territory that was once occupied by the russians. and the russians don't have the capability to go on the offensive. their mobilization effort, while ongoing and troops are arriving, they are displaying little training and incredibly low morale like the troops on the ground. he appointed a general in charge of the ukraine war, he had charge of the syrian war where he killed hundreds of thousands of syrians, that's a fact. to include bombing hospitals that would bury deep under the ground. he used penetration bombs to destroy them. war crime for sure. what is taking place and what he is about, he clearly wants to shut down the electric grid as you mentioned and the distribution of water and sewage, particularly as the four months of winter are beginning
6:24 am
to arrive and punish the ukrainian people to break their will so that they will not continue to support their government and to support their troops. all the evidence that we have largely anecdotal at the institute for the study of war says it will fail. there will be suffering as a result of it but the ukrainians will not back away from the support of the government and troops. if anything it is likely to increase their resolve, dana. >> dana: we can show you a map of where forces are now fighting. you know the maps better than i do at the institute for the study of war you look into these things closely. you mention the winter and what it could do to the ukrainian people. what would it possibly do to those russian troops especially the ones just conscripted? >> certainly they will suffer through the winter as troops do. it's always tough getting through the winter. russia has adequate supplies to
6:25 am
take care of them certainly because the fighting is taking place much closer to russia's supply lines in crimea and also in russia proper itself. but fighting will continue through the winter. right now it's mud and slow go. but in december and january, that ground will freeze and that will permit a fair amount of mobility to take place. yes, the offensive that ukrainians are conducting, dana, is still ongoing and i suspect they will likely take kierson, the first capital the russians took at the beginning of the war and they would likely do that sometime prior to the christmas holidays. that will be a huge strategic victory for them if they're able to do that. a major strategic setback for the russians once again. so yes, the fighting is going to continue. it will be intense for sure. and we don't believe, even
6:26 am
though there will be somewhere right now between 50 and 80,000 additional troops arriving to assist the russians as a result of the mobilization, we don't actually think that they will be decisive. that kind of numbers will certainly help and there is more coming. but if they aren't properly trained and they don't have the will to fight, and particularly the will to fight is at the cornerstone of everything in this kind of warfare, they aren't going to make a material contribution. so putin's attempt here to stop the bleeding and obviously to try to retake territory lost, is likely not going to happen. >> dana: meanwhile people are going to be very cold, very hungry and very uncomfortable without water and energy not just in kiev but throughout the country. we'll keep an eye on it. general jack keane, thank you. >> have a wonderful week. >> bill: parents' rights and kids' education tipped to scale
