crime as well as inflation. and he sees that governor hochul has no ground game. the democrats don't. they haven't needed it. is talking about trump and abortion and ignoring crime. in fact, in denial. here's an excerpt from it the story of the 2022 election could be democrats overestimating how much voters compared about january 6th and the ties to donald trump and republicans like mr. zeldin. she is running ads right now nonstop in new york about zeldin and trump. by constructing a campaign rose garden those concerns and not threats posed by crime, immigration. hinojosa and over democrats nationwide real risk of not facing up to the mood of the electorate at a time of pressure and fear. and she made it worse. she actually insulted people who said that crime is high and a concern. that you are data deniers. and that people are ginning up the nature of crime. if you are paranoid we will deal with it. the numbers say you have no reason to be. the numbers say we have every reason to be. murders and shootings are down

slightly. not anything else. >> steve: right. the cover of the "new york post" this morning crazy kat and it "new york post" depicting her. she is wearing a little tinfoil hat right there where she is talking about paranoia. the g.o.p. conspiracy to convince people crime is rising. you know what? she calls republicans data deniers. let's just look at the data itself. the "new york post" this morning has the crime stats for new york city 2019 to today. murders up 32%. robberies up 32%. felony assault is up 24%. burglary is up about 50%. grand larceny is up about 20%. and grand theft auto, get this. is up 148%. so she doesn't want you to believe your lying eyes, there is a crime problem happening here in new york state. and she is the governor. this is all happening on her watch. >> ainsley: mark penn. >> steve: look at that how can she say everything is safe.

>> ainsley: every day. and mark penn writes in his article that rapes are up 11% in new york city. subway ridership remains depressed with regular stories of people being pushed onto the tracks. ran rasmussen dom muggings and random shooting on a brooklyn train. talks in the article what san francisco did. voters recalled the d.a. out there because of all of the crime. will new yorkers do the same thing with our current governor because she is not doing enough for crime and then she is say that this is all blown out of proportion and we are making all of this up joe biden won this state by 23 points and they are -- the polls are neck and neck with zeldin and hochul. some have her up by single digits? >> brian: so on friday, they announce governor desantis was coming saturdays to do a rally. they had 7,000 rsvps by 4:00. they had though shut do down ended up 1,000 parking lot on long island. she has event the next day 175 people with the first lady.

yesterday she had hillary clinton. if you want to know how valid and how real his chances are, lee zeldin. you get governor desantis on a saturday to come, you know it's real. you get governor youngkin i think one ever the hottest endorsers out there right now because what he did in a blue state and that's called win, he appeared in west chester with lee zeldin yesterday in front of what was it 500. >> ainsley: 500 people. >> brian: if you are glenn youngkin, you can only go to places to have an effect. for him to show up. that says a lot. >> ainsley: look at the number of people in the crowd that does say a lot, brian. >> steve: and the fact that the first lady will be with kathy mobiling on thursday just four or five days before the election. so much early voting goes on. some people have already made up their minds that they're looking at those images. they know they are terrified to go outside. and i was talking to a friend who has connections to brooklyn. every person he knows who is a democrat but rides the subway is thinking about voting for lee

zeldin because they have got to use the subway to make money to get to their jobs. and if they can't, you know, they lose their job. they don't feel like kathy hochul is helping them out when it comes to crime. she says hey, don't believe your lyin' eyes. they believe their eyes and the subways here in new york city are dangerous. we are going to talk lee zeldin who has been a victim of crime himself over the last couple of months. remember at that rally guy came up with a sharp key chain thing and then, of course, his daughters were studying inside their house. he was at a columbus day event, and there was a shooting in his front yard. he knows firsthand that there's a problem. the governor apparently does not. >> ainsley: he also talked about rikers island the corrections officer stand 5 sometimes. day after day people are thrown on to subway tracks. the long island dad was at a parent's weekend at marist college and went down to the hotel to get a cup of coffee

like we all do in the hotel area. >> steve: a nice marriott. >> ainsley: was shot and killed. we need to clean up new york city. back in 1994. a republican governor was elected, pataki beat cuomo know in 94 and we haven't seen a republican governor since then. >> brian: republican congresswoman in staten island are tough fight to get another two years there. >> here is nicole mall talks. >> i would say crime is probably the top issue right now. we have a governor who refuses to fix the laws what they are reading with every day. what they are seeing with their own eyes is not real. that's what she is telling them i know the people on staten island are fired up to vote for him. i know the people on long island where lee zeldin currently represents is also fired up. so we just need to make sure that people get out to vote.

there is no argument there. they are out there trying to change the narrative. it's too late in the game to change the story. so, yes. it will rally a little bit of the base. but those key middle voters i don't think they are persuaded. >> polling shows it's still tight. point oall the issues that you want. i won't quarrel with people that say that democrats should have had a better plan, perhaps on crime and maybe on border security. that issue is not resonating with voters. midterms are always tight races anyone who denies that energizing your base whether republican or democrat midterm ignoring of the history of midterms. >> banking a lot on hillary clinton energizing folks in new york. i will believe it when i see that. >> we will see. >> ainsley: isn't it interesting when you look at neck and neck races and policies look at pennsylvania fetterman is so radical but doing well. >> pennsylvania is a great example of why the president obama might not work in the

outside of katie hobbs. kathy hochul is the worst candidate for governor running in the country right now. >> brian: true. >> hands down. listen, i get it. i'm a conservative it's hard for me to be objective on these matters, but i say that with a pure heart. she is just terrible. terrible and the one issue you definitely don't want to down play is voters. there were two things that jumped out at me with that clip. number one, she calls lee zeldin a data denier which i find fascinating because i lived through the nypd transformation under broken windows where they use data to target low level crimes. pull low level criminals off the street and high level crimes stopped happening, too. when you get the guy jumping the turnstile he doesn't go and mug someone on the train. notice she goes and crime is down in democrat states. did you notice she didn't say city because it doesn't matter who runs the state. it matters who runs the city if you have a liberal mayor in a

very poorly for kathy hochul. if lee zeldin doesn't win, it's going to be ridiculously close considering the democratic lean of new york state and the city. but, brian, she is in real trouble again. i know cops. here's the problem. most voters do know a police officer or know someone who knows a police officer. and they talk. the ferguson effect and the effect of the george floyd blm riots were real. they just look at the a data. >> rural cities had a big problem after that. conservative run cities although few of them and farther between didn't have this problem in conservative run states. we didn't have a problem down here in martin county. my sheriff said listen, you want to protest, fine. that's your first amendment right. stay on the sidewalk do it peacefully. we will even protect you and make sure nothing hans. we had zero problems with crime down here. this is not -- this is not the case in liberal cities where crime exploded because of a permissive environment kissing criminals' butts.

for it. there is a world out there that is not waiting for them and, in fact, when we look at the test scores of our children here against the rest of the world, china is number one. and u.s.a. is number two. we need to do differently. we can't keep doing the same things that is voting the same way expecting different results. we know what that means. and we're not insane. we are quite sane people. and we are taking back our country. we're taking charge. >> brian: 38% of eighth graders cannot grasp basic math concepts. so we look at a situation where randi weingarten says we all suffered let's get over it. "time" magazine says forget about it. i say we can't forget about it. especially biggest drop on test scores came from impoverished districts. people need it the most suffered the most. got to be help to pay for it. here's the plan. do you guys have a plan to catch the kids of virginia up for what they missed?
