one entrance and one exit you have to obey the rules. that didn't happen after the big rivalry game, period. >> not even close. >> bill: nice to have you. >> dana: we'll see you on "fox & friends." >> bill: see you in arizona tomorrow. >> dana: they'll eat early in a diner. often and early. "the faulkner focus" is up next. here is harris. >> harris: which begin with a fox news alert. democrats are no doubt worried about the state of arizona. both the senate and governor races are tight. remember with 36 governors in particular those seats in contention across america, that job can change a lot in this country with so much power resting in the hands of governors who are often called mini presidents. i'm harris faulkner and you are in "the faulkner focus." where we can almost count this thing down by the hour almost. six days until november 8th and we will know who americans want

on capitol hill and washington, d.c. and leading more than half of the states in our nation. democratic lawmakers trying to save themselves in the house and senate by putting up the party's only rock star working him overtime at this point. former president barack obama has to clean up all the policy weakness on crime, the border, inflation and he has to find a way to get the base excited about next tuesday. something they clearly don't think the current president, joe biden, can do. voters apparent lack of enthusiasm for the current president was on full display at this event. >> come on, people. let's wake up. we have the president of the united states in the house. come on now. i know you got a little more energy than i hear, okay, thank you very much. that's the crowd i know. those are the people i represent. okay. just wanted to make sure you were still here. >> harris: she couldn't tell there were people in the room. wow, that's debbie wasserman
8:02 am
schultz. fa democrats are trying to get the crowds excited. maybe obama will be the answer. president biden, however, has been relegated the places like florida where you just saw the crowd not so hyped up. where one top fundraiser for obama's old campaign says chances of victory are slim. >> florida is out of reach and the fact that he is coming here is indicative of, i guess, unfortunately, that the candidates that want him are in a mode of desperation. that's unfortunate. i found it very interesting that his people are trying to spin it as not being a referendum on his leadership. of course this election is about a referendum of his leadership. >> harris: in arizona it will be barack obama. the woman there wants to be

arizona's next governor. kari lake will be in "focus." first let's go to peter doocy live at the white house. peter. >> hillary clinton is doing the tv rounds for democratic candidates as well. in an interview now she is suggesting that she thinks the only people that are voting republican this cycle are ones that are not smart enough to understand the issues. >> i'm not sure they really understand the threats to their way of life. >> that is in line with a costly comment she made in 2016 when she referred to people moved to back donald trump as a quote basket of deplorables. president biden's plans to -- he does plan to speak about ongoing threats to democracy this evening and critics are already claiming this is just a way to cover for potential losses. >> i've heard a lot about democrats worrying on threats to democracy. i think democrats are mostly
8:04 am
worried about threats from democracy. in six days the american people are going to repudiate their ideological agenda. >> as president biden steers clear of every major battleground except pennsylvania, the party is sending barack obama in to do the heavy lifting for seats that may decide control of the senate. and on the road he is also doing the heavy lifting for his former vice president as well. >> some have said they are going to impeach president biden. now, they aren't sure why. they're not sure what for yet. but apparently that's beside the point. let me ask you a question, how will that help you pay your bills? >> today the obama mid-term tour will go through another battleground that president biden has been avoiding this cycle, arizona. harris. >> harris: that's right. he is going to a high school there. we'll get into it with our next

guest. the competition for arizona's governor seat is certainly one to watch as i was talking about. those seats are important. governors have a lot of power. our last fox news power rankings before the election still have this race in the toss-up column. new fox polling shows democratic secretary of state katie hobbs and republican kari lake are in a statistical dead heat. that one-point lead for lake well within the margin of error. but a big enthusiasm gap could make the difference. in that same poll, 68% of lake's backers say they're excited to go vote. only 48 describe their support for hobbs as enthusiastic. that's a 20-point deficit for the democrat. republican candidate for arizona governor kari lake in "focus" now. good to have you on the program. first of all. >> good morning. >> harris: let's start with in
8:06 am
september you were a point apart. august 3rd points apart and she was leading. now it has flipped and been consistent. what has made the difference? >> we've been out working and talking to the people. we've been out for more than 500 days meeting with people in arizona and the talking about the issues affecting their lives and policy to help solve our problems and she is hiding in the basement. she barely showed up in the democrat primary. nobody ever saw her. she has been in her basement just like joe biden was. so i think the difference is we have policies that are common sense to help with the issues we're facing every day. katie hobbs has been hiding. she refuses to debate and disrespects the people so much she won't take the debate stage and talk about what she wants to do for arizona. that and she is a twice convicted racist who cost the people of arizona $3 million. the press doesn't cover that. >> harris: it's interesting.
8:07 am
when you use language to describe her, she has a word apparently that she uses about you that i picked up just this morning. i was going through video and okay, why wouldn't she sit down? let's hear the latest for the reasons why she won't debate you which benefit who, the voters mostly. let's watch. >> why not get on the debate stage and debate her? >> not only is kari lake -- has she centered her entire platform around the election denialism, i didn't want to give her a bigger stage. >> it would be an easy fix if you stood on a debate stage and confronted her about these issues. >> we're six days out from the election and our campaign strategy is the campaign strategy. there aren't -- i have stood up to this bully for the past two years and people in arizona have seen that and i'll continue to do that. >> harris: okay. first of all what is your
8:08 am
reaction to that? >> just another excuse from katie hobbs. i want to know why didn't she show up for the democrat debate? she can't articulate her policies and afraid of taking the debate stage. the policies she wants for arizona would turn us into california. that's not what arizona wants. she is soft on the border. her idea for the border is let joe biden handle it. he is the guy who got us in the trouble we're in right now. we know from her record she is out of touch when it comes to what families want as a legislator, she co-sponsored legislation to start and introduce kindergartners to sex education. i don't know any parent who wants that. that was something she pushed when she was in the legislature. she is out of touch and i don't care who comes in to rally with her, nobody is interested in katie hobbs. you saw the enthusiasm numbers. you mentioned them.
8:09 am
0 enthusiasm. she put out a video. no views. she will take a resounding loss. >> harris: it is also a loss for the voters because they don't get to know both of you in a room being asked the tough questions. as far as skipping the democratic debate, i don't know why she would do that. that's an opportunity -- that's like free advertising for her. i do want to get to this because i know you do take the tough questions and do you have the tough talk. fox polling shows 47% of voters are concerned that your views are too extreme. that's compared to 42% who say the same about your opponent. talk to me about this. >> well, what am i extreme on? if you throw any of my views and explain where it's extreme i'm happy to talk to you about it. i don't know what's extreme about wanting to secure the border. we have a plan to secure the border calling day one calling it an invasion.
8:10 am
we have a plan to give half a billion dollars back to hard-working tax paying citizens by eliminating the grocery tax and the rental tax in arizona. we have plans to start dual track education so our high school kids after 10th grade can get a trade skill training, vocational training education or career certification right there in high school so they're ready to take on the opportunities that await them. i don't know what's extreme about that. i don't know what's extreme about wanting to fully fund our police and make sure that all of our police departments are fully staffed. these are not extreme ideas. that's what the left has been saying. they've been putting dark money into attack ads trying to paint me as an extremist. when you listen to what i have to say my ideas are common sense. they are extreme. >> harris: you are getting to something as you lay out your plan for the people of arizona. you get to all the money and now they are bringing in barack
8:11 am
obama, who i know you say you don't care who they bring in, the democrats. but they clearly see a weak spot for this seat and also the senate seat in your state. and so the ads that they are running obviously would be part of the language that seeps into polling. we don't know what's going to happen, though, we know who is most excited to go to the polls based on other polling. i want to talk to you more about the border. i'm not going to ask you to talk about your opponent and what she thinks about it. she should be making that case for herself. >> that's right. >> harris: i live not far from where you are about to go have your next event. you are going to old town in scottsdale. >> we have several events today. >> harris: part of the year my husband is in arizona and we're there. people are talking about this. the border situation in arizona in particular is different than texas. it is mainly about fentanyl. that fentanyl goes all over the country. you have to have a handle on the
8:12 am
border. if people have an idea of what that looks like, that's why you needed a debate. i know kind of but i want to viewers to hear it directly from you. i know what you stand for. katie hobbs has a few days to make that point as well. >> well i'll tell you what i stand for. taking back control of our southern border from the narco terrorists who are hell bent on poisoning us with fentanyl. i'm going to tell you, i didn't know you were a resident here and happy to hear that. part-time resident. the hardest thing in the last 500 plus days on the campaign trail has been having moms and dads come up to me and tell me they lost a 19-year-old son or 17-year-old daughter or 20-year-old daughter because they took one pill and didn't realize it was laced with fentanyl that came across the border from the mexican cartels. they will never get their child back. we don't have the option to have a weak leader in arizona. we need somebody who is ready to
8:13 am
secure that border, take on the cartels and protect our future and our children. i don't want to have to face another mom or dad who has lost a child. that child never comes back. it is appalling that we haven't had strong leadership to protect our citizens. that will end in january 23rd when i'm sworn into office. >> harris: kari lake republican for arizona governor. one percentage point apart within the margin of error and gone back and forth along the issues. we enjoyed hearing about the issues from you. thank you very much for being in "focus." >> thank you very much. appreciate it. >> harris: i mentioned that former president obama will be in phoenix, just so you know at cesar chavez high school visiting a majority hispanic area that could help shore up the democratic ticket. that's what he is working on. remember, the left has lost a lot of the latino vote across
8:14 am
that border state line. the 1,933 miles in those areas. interesting if obama can make any of the loss of. 0 responsibility. critics piling on after a teachers union president supports the idea of amnesty for terrible decisions on covid lockdowns. the ones that set our children back by years in math and reading. plus the one issue which could decide the race for new york governor. >> cathy hochul is coming across as absolutely totally out of touch with new yorkers who want to see their elected officials fighting crime. >> harris: i mean, yes, in cobalt blue new york there is a republican candidate who is putting pressure on what tuesday could look like. lee zeldin now calling the governor crime wave kathy.

and wants to get rid of the hard earned benefits that ohioans have earned, wants to cut our future like schools and children. for what? for what? >> harris: we finally figured out what gets her going. it is not shutdowns and children and education. i don't know why she is screaming. power panel now former georgia congressman and then a former biden campaign surrogate. kevin, i've never seen you act like that. she leads 1.7 million teachers. what's going on? >> she is fired up. i'm a calm, cool collected kind of kind. >> harris: your party needs randi weingarten? you have the president. >> she is talking to her members in ohio in terms of the aft out there stumping for ryan six days

out from the election. she is talking to union members about this election. i'm a calm guy. i don't like to yell and scream. i have be on your show for years. it is not my personality. >> harris: you are intimating you feel like you have had a lot of reasons to yell and scream. doug. >> no. >> it's amazing. these last few days keep getting more randi out there. let's put her out there more. this is what we've been saying all along. her focus has been on teachers and liberal ideology, not students. that's the big key issue and you heard it in the virginia seventh and others. the education issue through the pandemic people are in tune to. the teachers union, they are being threatened by the questions coming up and more concerned about teachers and union issues than kids. >> harris: it is really important and interesting what you are saying. if there were ever a doubt she was focused on politics over

children, she now is rubber stamping that with her hands waving in the air like she doesn't care. i'll go again in reverse order, doug. >> it just shows it. like i said, when you -- for republicans sometimes we spend a lot of time honing our message and listen to what the other side is saying and amplify that. they are making our point for us. for years republicans have talked about school choice and education and people may not believe it. now we can point to the other side and these teachers unions making our points for us. sometimes it's better to be quite and let them do the talking. when they talk, we win. >> harris: kevin, you first. new comments from hillary clinton. she apparently believes voters may not understand what is at stake in the mid-term elections. >> are you concerned that maybe voters aren't putting those pieces together, that having a republican house would mean that the people you are talking about would be even more empowered? >> i think with all of the noise that we've got in this election
8:53 am
season, i don't think people are able to really grasp that. but more importantly, i'm not sure they really understand the threats to their way of life. >> harris: deplorable 2.0 anybody? anybody? kevin. >> i don't think it's a winning strategy ever to talk down to voters whether you're a democrat or republican. >> harris: why does she keep doing it >> i joined fox news to persuade viewers about the good things democrats are doing. we cut childhood poverty. >> harris: i don't want you dodging the question about hillary clinton. it is out there in the down stretch to november 8th. it is basically her, a few others and barack obama. i don't want you to dodge that. what do you think about what they are doing? that stuff is contagious. >> i'm saying we have to put out a positive vision for why voters
8:54 am
should stick with the democratic party six days out. i don't think it's helpful when we talk down to voters in any condition in any way. we have to make a persuasive arguments when democrats are the better party when it comes to economic issues, what we've done doing the last two years. secretary clinton was talking about the economic situation of americans. as i was saying before, we cut childhood poverty in half in two years. we shouldn't go to parents and say how stupid you can be to vote against your child's interests. look at what you're doing, stick with us to stay the course. >> harris: doug. >> that's why you have kevin trying to repair it. ronna mcdaniel and the rnc have a secret strategy. maybe hillary clinton and randi weingarten are surrogates. let's get them out there more. it seems like hillary clinton didn't realize that the absolute breakdown of the 2016 election

where she lost had a lot to do with the fact that people believe that she thought the country was stupid if they didn't believe like them. >> harris: one thing the party who chose to pay the other side is probably not happy about that now, the democrats who paid all of those candidates in places where they thought they had an easy win.
