ago. if you are watching "fox & friends" at 3:00 a.m. it is indicative of the enthusiasm in the state of arizona for the election that is just five days away. are you guys psyched? [cheers and applause] and it feels like all roads lead through arizona because the balance of the u.s. senate may be determined by who wins the race between mark kelly and blake masters. how do we feel about blake masters in this room? [cheers and applause] he has run a big come from behind campaign that has caught a lot of support. and he is tied in the polls. of course, the governor's race can anybody find katie hobbs? she seems to be nowhere to be found. she is using the biden basement strategy as she runs against kari lake who has proven to be very formidable. [cheers and applause] the polls have also tightened, although her former station the local fox news station had the poll up 11 a couple of days ago.

we are talking to voters about issues of inflation, issues of the border, especially in arizona, education, and new educational savings account here and, of course, crime and things that animate real people some of which voted already. many of which will be voting on election day. we are proud to be here in arizona, "fox & friends," thank you all for being here. i will send it back to you and we will talk to the voters later in the hour. >> brian: i have a question for a lot of folks, i am struck by mark kelly and tim ryan pretending as if they have taken on president biden. we know they have not on any issue. they are distancing themselves from them. but you know who has? senator sinema. i wonder if people in that diner view her as somebody in a positive light because she, along with joe manchin, have pushed back a lot. because that is an interesting question so brian kilmeade has a question for all of you. as mark kelly supporting

about crime. kathy hochul has had a chance to solve our crime problem. she has made it worse. criminals get in, they go into the front door and walked out the back door immediately. they continue, more crime, more crime, repeat offenders spirits of republicans do care about these issues. that is why -- if the democrats have done a great job the last two years, there would not be this red wave. >> brian: they are very close to immigration reform. barack obama wanted to pull on that from the past but never got together either conference. over the last few years, the one thing criticized about donald trump he was too tough on the border. right? he wanted to build the border, remain at mexico, threatened to tariffs. >> ainsley: that is immigration. >> brian: so president trump, you can say he didn't see a list, but it wasn't lack of trying. it wasn't from five separate plans and i will get the next one until you do. but things got out of control in

portland. things got out of control in seattle purity said i will send in federal troops and that caused controversy. they were protesting with the protesters and chop was allowed to flourish and people died. then he offered national authority and to chicago to break up the gang violence. you might not like the way, but you can't say he didn't try to attack it. at the same time, we have an administration with things criminal first. so, not only because they are ignoring those issues -- and i look at it differently, steep, even though they aren't strong on this, barack obama should come out and say address the issues people care about them by coming out and saying the republicans want to solve anything, that is not something that will resonate. if you come out and say we will be tougher on crime and crime is a problem but these are the right people to do it. that might be a better message. >> steve: listen, they have the solutions and it's not working. that is why people will vote against them. >> ainsley: they are in control of the house, senate and

presidency. >> steve: keep in mind historically, whoever the president is during his first term, first midterm, they always lose seats. but for a wild, it looked as if the democrats were going to -- e heard back when inflation started to go through the roof in november, december, january, february. it was going straight up and there was going to be blue ebb because a red tsunami. well, then, gas prices started going down. now, they put so many eggs into the abortion basket in the month of august, the democrats actually hold the lead. but according to the latest "wall street journal" poll, since august, there has been a 27% shift with white suburban women away from the democrats. now, they favor the republicans by 15%. and so much of it has to do with the cost of everything. you know, when the price of oil

was going down, it was suddenly looking pretty good about a month ago for the democrats. but now, you know what, the price is going back up and their chances are dwindling. >> ainsley: that poll is interesting because being a woman, i'm always fascinated to find out what the suburban mom thinks and how they will vote. they make 20% of the electorate which is a powerful force as you know. 54% of the white suburban women think the u.s. is in a recession. the economy is heading the wrong direction and the number one issue is rising prices, number two threat to democracy and number three supreme court overturning roe. i like this poll because it is "wall street journal" and conducted by a democratic posterior and republican pollster together. >> brian: and the story members because a lot of republicans making gains because they talk about education and they are talking about problems with curriculum. one of which is tudor dixon. this came out during the debate that she had with governor whitmer. listen. >> i had a gentleman come up to

me just a few nights ago and he said, "i found contained in my school library describing how to have sex to my son." i went to the democrats and i said, i can't believe this is in there. you are no longer a part of my party. just a few weeks ago, not only was i a democrat running for office as a democrat because democrats won't stand up for the children go back to the basics. i'm leaving the democrat party. >> steve: there she was simply recounting the story someone had told her that she met a couple of days earlier, but stephen colbert on his show a couple of nights later ran a clip of that and he's positive she is making that up. >> this is not the only one word about this issue. so was this guy she totally made up. >> a gentleman came up to me a few nights ago and he said, "i've been school to my content my school library describing how to have sex to my son." he went to the democrats and i

it." >> brian: we will see if there is retraction to stephen colbert show or whatever the late show. and see if he comes out and apologizes. i wonder if he even knows there was a follow-up because i don't know how often he watches us but its full circle but the people of michigan will and a two-point race, this could make a huge race because it goes back to education and proven right against against the entertainment factor in the story. the two current governor is so progressive and she kept schools closed. that was one of the states when closed for a really long time. tudor dixon sees this and has four little girls of her own and she fought cancer and she was a mom. she said, i am going after this governor and i want to be the republican and they are neck and neck. gretchen whitmer bringing in randi weingarten to come on stage and they are blaming everything else on school closures and out on them here that is white tudor dixon is doing so well because mama and

joining the republican party? >> she left the democratic party and became an independent because how extreme the democratic party has gotten peer that is the one thing people in south dakota need to realize, my opponent is embracing all of the values of joe biden in this extreme national democrat party. he wants to raise taxes. he wants to shut down schools, mandate vaccines and he voted that way in the legislature. tulsi really talk to south dakota and that we work across the aisle and be together. everyone here who needs to serve in office should love american want to protect freedom's. that is what the people of south dakota have been working with us the last several years. >> ainsley: you are running against jimmy smith, a congressman. if you look at emerson college poll, you are up by 56% and he is 37%. but he says that if you look at different polls, they are saying different things. he said it is actually very, very tight. what do you say to that?

>> jamie is not a congressman purity served in the legislature and he's got a voting record of when he has worked in the state to extreme policies to raise policies during the race. he has many times talked about the fact he wants to find new things to tax. very different than what i have done. listen, the poll that matters is election day. we know people in south dakota have not made up their minds yet. we know we need to keep talking to them about the wonderful things happening here. we are leaving the country and the economy and the kids international outcomes because they are in classrooms. parents have control over the children's education with band the critical race theory being taught to the kids. we have less than 700 people in the whole stay on unemployment here. everybody gets up and goes to work. our incomes are going faster than anywhere else. we are doing very well and fighting off joe biden and extreme policies from the federal government. jamie does not want that. he very much endorses what

joe biden is doing to this country and his policies and life will change overnight in south dakota if given a chance to sit in the governor's office. >> ainsley: these elections have consequences. i was watching "the ingraham angle" last night and talking about the states that shut down during the pandemic. we have to national report card and the scores for those states. she said, don't forget because we have another pandemic, god forbid, these governors if you elect them, they can shut down the states again. you are promising your constituents that will not happen. >> yeah, we want our voters to be educated and recognize i have done exactly what i promised to do the last four years on the defendant their constitutional rights, protected in freedom and given them more control over the decisions they make for their families and businesses. jamie smith would do the exact opposite, day one governors make decisions and impact your lives. if you keep your business open and decide if your kids have to get vaccinated to go to school or not.

a nation. >> brian: progress on inflation, really? president biden attempting to tout his administration success on the economy on the same day the federal reserve jacked up interest rates another .75. >> ainsley: that is bringing interest rates to the highest level since 2008 as the white house struggles to take inflation. >> brian: but we are doing great, larry kudlow on fox business news, larry kudlow, larry, acting weird to this rate increase. how do you explain the? >> well, you know, jay powell was very weird. he was giving us a kamala harris word salad yesterday. i mean comic that is the best i can figure. first, it sounded dovish and wouldn't raise rates that much more quickly. so the market shoots out 400, 500 points. then later on, he sounded more tougher, more restrictive, more

hawkish and the market fell 400, 500 points. and in fact my was on sandra smith trying to figure this out. and the teas, the market was up 450. about the time we got to start of the year, it had gone flat. while talking, it went down 500 points. sandra thought it was a misprint. she didn't see it properly. so look, there was no clear talking here. no one actually -- i was actually reading last night all kinds of market commentary by various market people on wall street trying to figure out what he was saying. people really disagree, fox does, explain the unexplainable. it was a real mess. the bottom line here, we have a tough, embedded inflation. it is probably somewhere around 7%. wages somewhere around 7%. a 4% fed funds rate, the target rate. and it is still below that 7%

inflation. it is going to have to go higher. they end came, brian, 2%. that is their target from a right? they are a long ways away from that. there will be a lot of pain as the fed tightens money. >> steve: larry, do you think jerome powell had a conversation with the president's advisor and said, "you know, this will be a long haul if simply just going to be bringing it down with interest rate hikes." and if you decrease domestic oil production, that would have immediate impact on everything. >> gotcha. i totally agree with what you just said. unleash oil and gas production. take the handcuffs off. take the shackles off. and all of these hundreds everyday things that we do with clothing and food and groceries and gas prices. all of those prices would come down. the economy would recover

faster. you are totally right. but look, your first question, i'm unaware he has met with biden recently. it is possible we don't know, but i'm unaware of it. remember though, the treasury secretary and the chair of the council of economic advisors and the director of the national economic council job i held, those folks at the top of the pyramid do meet regularly with the fed chair. i don't know what the conversations are. all i know is yesterday's performance by jay powell, who is a good guy and doing the best he can come up at the federal reserve is a terrible forecasting record. what he is giving you is uncertainty. i mean, it was augmented to students. a word salad that investors could not put it figure out. >> brian: tune in at 4:00 on fox business because that man delivered certainty. >> ainsley: i love his show.
