as votes in nevada and arizona are still being counted. in the fattest governor's race, republican joe lombardo still holding the lead over incumbent democrat and the state senate race the gap is closing between republican adam lack salt and cortez masto but adam laxalt ist worried. >> it is important to note since the national media is not covering this. the las vegas mail ballots that are being reported include election day drop off mail. we had more republicans drop off election day ballots than democrats. we feel like we are in a great, great position and i'm super proud of my team. >> now to arizona where incumbent mark kelly's edge is shrinking and the senate race over g.o.p. challenger blake masters. it is still a nail-biter in the state's governor's race and bows for katie hobbs and republican candidate kari lake within a 1%

margin. >> you know, we are watching as they come in and will give a few extra votes to the democrats. the democrats are running out of ballots that will go in their favor. they know when they start counting these mail in ballots and delivered, that is when we will see everything shift. >> over to the house republicans just a few feet shy of the majority holding 211 of 218 seats. house minority leader kevin mccarthy said despite the lower than expected results, it is still a win for the g.o.p. listen. >> what was our mission? to win the majority and stop joe biden's agenda and fire nancy pelosi. all of that is accomplished. they don't give gavel small, medium, large, they just give you the gap on we will be able to govern. >> guys it may be another week before get results into key races. carley. >> carley: we are waiting, brooke, thank you.

kellyanne conway with important bias it is important for republicans to stay unified in their message to voters. watch this. >> i'm glad that donald trump and ron desantis into republican party and accomplishments people can look to and emily in their own states. people want to run for office because they are inspired by candidates, by leaders like them who don't back down and get things done, who work with velocity. i would love to see the two of them up on the stage in georgia with i don't know brian kemp throw him in there also so. we need more unity and less divisiveness into republican party. we have the best messages but not unity right now. the democrats have no good policies or aspirational, hopeful forward-looking messages but it paid off in some of the elections. >> todd: let's bring in robert charles former assistant secretary of state george w. bush and former naval intel officer who served in both reagan and bush white house.

so much election stuff, if you will time pack. i want to start with these delays. these delays are unacceptable they infused out into the system. why don't we still have a system that allows -- in many cases it elongates these races. it makes no sense. >> you are right, todd and need for gps and instant taxing the obvious answer is we ought to be able to get accurate votes within 24 hours. we are walking backwards because it asked mike historically ten, 20 years we had that appear the short answer is we can do that and a lot of ways constitutionally the states have the right to pick their own process by which they manage these elections. that is a constitutional prerogative. however, if you think about it big obvious comparisons when we file our taxes there is a deadline we are not allowed to be called -- we have to pay a penalty so one obvious way is to affect the timetable up by seven

days, ten days and say if you do mail in palette there ought to be a reason for that and not spread like birdseed but if you do a mail-in ballot you have to get it and buy a certain postmark. another way to look at it, shareholding at a board meeting for a company and proxy voting, there is a date at which the vote is not counted again. you don't wait 20 days, 20 days or two days after the board meeting. there is in a way to make easy way to do this back up the in mail voting and come in election day when they want to cast and those who want to cast it forecasted in the patient ahead of time. there is really no excuse for these did delays, particular 300,000 ballots dropped on election day in a place like arizona. what it does is use at a moment ago it creates public doubt and the outcome of course public distrust. speed to an arizona maricopa county if they would be finished counting the ballots by today but now the election

officials say the goalpost has moved in we need more time. we will be counting into the weekend. we will be waiting a couple more days. unless they speed things up in the next two hours, who knows. we are learning republicans received about 6 million more votes than democrats did. but that did not translate into as many wins as people expected. what should the party due in 2024 to get a better outcome? >> i think you ought to remember for starter this is the party of herschel wa frankly the party tt represents the greater principles of our founders. you take that as a starting point but the obvious answer is to unify after we do our buy-in. buy-in and unified but the bottom line there is good people running as republicans. they basically prioritize the bill of right. they prioritize fiscal responsibility. they prioritize individual -- if

those metal to you you have to fall behind as kellyanne conway, you want to fall in behind a candidate who will faithfully take that football over the touchdown line. and we are in that position. it's a deep bench and it's not old, worn-out socialist bench. but a freedom loving, strongly highly capable men and women bench that we ought to start thinking about how we get behind that bench and get the right team out there. once we get the right team out there, bring america back to america. >> todd: in light of carley's question, as the 2024 rates already begun? and yes to that question, the follow-up question is are we in a perpetual state -- -- >> the answer is yes one of the problems, social media and the 24-hour media of which we are all sort of both aware and part in some ways makes everybody sort of on tender hooks from the

minute you begin thinking about a future race. so in one spect we are and in another respect we've got to take a break. the current house will get about 12 months. let's hope the senate, too, serious oversight and how the government is operating or not operating and getting inflation down and national security up. once we do that, we will sort of turn to the wind, probably proudly turn to the land and people will start to think hard about the next election so cycle. those that win tend to be exhausted so a break before we turn into the 2024 election. >> carley: if the republicans take back the house, there will be investigations but where should they focus their attention? >> gosh this is embarrassment riches when it comes to oversight. you start with public corruption and relationship with biden to china, then afghanistan. think about the border and insecurity at the border. and think about the fact the

democrats defund the police and created record crime in many cities. start talking about the importance of getting rid of political violence and not normalizing it. start talking about how to get the economy back in control and reopen the energy sector. try to stop the runaway physical spending that had us pulling in $4.1 trillion in revenue for the last 18 months. so, there is so much to be done. the one thing i would say and republicans have historically been better at this for five years. i ran the better part of the oversight committee, big investigations into justice, waco the defense department, state department but one of the things you have to remember is what we are trying to do is make the government responsible to the people. we are not trying to impeach. we are not trying to run election cycle what the democrats have been doing running through the oversight committee. what we are trying to do is make sure there is no waste fraud and abuse and federal tax dollars and mine are properly spent. and what they don't want to

spend left in her pocket so we can spend it. >> todd: the government is there for us and not the other way around. there are so many amazing americans who devote their lives to our amazing country. the reason we celebrate a day like today. happy veterans day to you, thank you, sir for your service. >> i think it is to always remember the veterans and only 1% on active duty and all those veterans alive today present 7% to the country but remember without them none of these races happen. thank them in your heart and ultimately if you know a veteran or got a veterans hospital nearby, go pay some attention to them and say, "hey, i know what you did." these are the most unapologetic patrons. they are truly some of the most confidence regarding and patriotic people walking among us. >> todd: we will honor the family members have our own staff here at

there are congressional lawmakers who feel like this is not just a trip for the president to go over there and talk about platitudes in terms of the economy and the global marketplace, but really commit is a chance to drill down on the major issues. let me share michael mccaul of the great state of texas and you look at putin invading ukraine and china's president xi a working with the pentagon but china and taiwan, actually it is frightening and i would hope he is projecting deterrence to aggression and strength. but this administration doesn't seem to be capable of doing that. very, very tough words and a lot of people in washington feel this is a president who hasn't gotten in the face of china and maybe he will and maybe he won't. we will see. >> todd: kevin corke, have a good week and my friend. the white house to clarify president biden's call for an investigation into elon musk. >> the president yesterday said

alexandria ocasio-cortez after losing to republican challenger mike lawler. >> todd: ashley strohmier with updates on the latest drama, ashley. >> of the calls are coming out, sean patrick maloney says "kathy hochul's poor performance at the top of the ticket is why new york lost four and a half seats including his own." maloney was defeated after seeking sixth term by mike lawler. >> that is a problem. when you have open seats and they lose by double digits. so the candidates have to outperform the governor 514 points, 15 points and that is a lot to ask as a first timer. and it was our inability to speak to voters in suburban new york city. >> todd: it is not just kathy hochul but targeting aoc. and inserting "the last time i ran with aoc, we were endorsing the candidate 2-1 and i did not see her at one of the midterms helping with the house majority. so i'm not sure what kind of

new york to copolice involved shootings. that is terrible for the community and the officers alike. this isn't right what they are doing to the public. allow them to feel safe. the police officers on the street. work with district attorneys to keep bad guys behind bars and stop lying. this is not about democrat or republican but about what is right or wrong. >> carley: now that kathy hochul came within a couple of points of losing the governor's race and got an ear full from the people of new york saying they are afraid of crime. because of that, do you think anything will change? >> no, i think she is tone-deaf. a lot of politicians are tone-deaf. you heard from both parties. they are not listening and politicians are not listening to the everyday american citizens want. this is a truth, this is reality. luke walked out on the street and look over your shoulder. police officers off duty or curing their firearms because they don't even feel safe. people jumping out of cars committing robberies at gunpoint. 2022 we should be advancing things and looking for ways to

administration ready to appeal a federal judge who struck down their student loan handouts for the judge ruling the estimate of $400 billion plan is unconstitutional without congressional approval. the white house responding saying, "we strongly disagree with the court's ruling on student debt relief program and the department of justice has filed an appeal." president biden's plan would cancel up to $20,000 for pell grant recipients and $10,000 for people with federal student loans. the white house has 26 million borrowers have been considered for relief so far. todd appeared to be one critical race theory taking center stage in the racist vortexes state board of education seas. several candidates who ran against crt won their races tuesday night giving republicans one more seat on the board and striking the majority. two of those pat hardy join us now. thank you for being here. i would like to be with you, simply put did you win on the

parents who voted for you oppose crt? >> todd, i think it is absolutely clear that that is the reason why. we were successful on tuesday night. whenever i start of campaign, i went and with parents i listen to the community. one thing they were talking about was that they reject critical race theory. gender, diversity and inclusion because that does not translate into the american dream. >> todd: as a nomogram from jamaica and former educator yourself, how did your life experience inform you to the ills of crt? >> well, you know, coming from jamaica, todd, there was never a talk of race relations when it came to education. and i believe that that was the message that people here in south texan dominic texas heard before. i show everyone it doesn't matter where you are from.

it matters what you want to achieve and if you work hard, you can achieve these things without this reliance on race. tuesday gave us a strong win and a strong indication that south texas really believes in that oe countries. >> the control of that really needs to be at a local level. and so that is why it is very important for local school boards to be aware of and be aware of what is being taught in their particular school district.

>> todd: pat let's drill down on the subject matter itself. on a day like today, veterans day how important is teaching our american heritage, including the sacrifices of our amazing men and women in uniform to the children of america? >> well mike you are talking to lifelong social studies teachers. so this is my life story as far as wanting kids all ages. it really needs to start very early. and i think we made a mistake by pushing so much in the way of reading and math and not really including social studies and appreciation of our american heritage. that is what i would like to see really honed in on in the early grades so they can develop a sense of nationalism and love of country and respect for country and carry that through their whole experience and the public school system without critical race theory being a part of it. >> you don't need to whitewash

you confronted hillary clinton when she said something very similar. here we go again. what went through your mind when you heard the president say that? >> personally, i thought, carley, the only reason not reliable because the government will shut them down. it is the most reliable form of energy we have. if it weren't for coal, the energy grid now would come to a standstill. >> carley: yeah, coal alone accounts for 22% of electricity in the country. if the president is successful and shuts down the coal plants, what will that look like for people when there is no viable alternative right now? >> you are talking 100,000 people in coal related jobs and in the energy sector alone that would be without jobs. it is mind-boggling to think that this administration can say, yeah, this is a very good idea. if we shut these plants down and we put all these people out of

>> carley: it takes a long time to acquire the skills that you have to be a coal miner. how does that translate to the winter solar energy sector? >> well, i'm not exactly sure, carley, how that would apply to those sectors. i'm not sure what is entailed in those jobs, but coal miners are very skilled and very resourceful people. without a shadow of a delta, i know that anything put in front of us, coal mining people especially in west virginia can get the job done. we are very smart people, people who operate equipment besides the max size of buildings and skillfully can pick up and take on any challenge. but the upper counties have to be in place before we shut and what we have. >> carley: that is a good point. that is exactly right. interesting with having this conversation with you now, president biden is in the air flying into egypt for the e1 climate conference.
