passing legislation that will address american's most pressing concerns. where we are headed here, let's bring in louisiana congressman steve scalise, the house majority whip and incoming majority leader. first order of business almost out of the gate of achieving the majority in the house, members of the oversight committee said we are going to launch investigations first and foremost to joe biden, whether he benefitted and knew about his son's business dealings, that is the job of the oversight committee but do you believe that is the best thing for republicans to be doing out of the gate when you take back control? >> well, john and sandra, great to be with you and if you look, we ran on a very specific agenda in this last midterm election. we talked about getting the economy back on track, addressing inflation, and also about oversight, robust oversight that has been lacking dramatically for the last two years. you have not seen any oversight

into the biden administration's very questionable actions on so many fronts, this being one and a lot of others. and we said we would do both. don't just do one, we are going to pass policy, we'll have oversight and it can go on at the same time, starting on january 3rd, and we have been making preparations and in fact, if you saw that press conference with jamie comer and his oversight committee, questions they have been asking for months and the biden administration has been stone walling them. there will be subpoena power starting in january and able to get the answers. it's not anything new. we ran on this. this was one of the top planks in our agenda, both addressing inflation, the border crisis, so many other crisis, energy, and also oversight drama dramatically lacking the last two years. >> john: the white house is it not forthcoming, maybe you'll have to be more so. what james comer said in the

out to be true and now those are questions that are going to be investigated. and they are questions a lot of people have been asking for a long time and we are finally going to start getting some of those answers. and like i said, a lot of those issues that we are going to be having questions about, whether it's this hunter biden issue, whether it's the origins of covid, whether it's what happened to the debacle in afghanistan, potentially $85 billion of the world's best military technology left behind to a terrorist organization. a lot of questions like that. biden administration has refused to answer it, they are going to have to start having to answer the questions. >> john: congressman, some new members of the conference who say look, i don't want any part of these investigations. i think there is other work for the america public we need to do. george santos of new york says if parts of our party want to go into the investigations that's their perogative.

>> the possibility that there's a fifth blood type/dna there from the suspect's blood is huge, and i think that's what the fbi and isp went in to try to find to actually identify all the blood types. >> sandra: former lapd detective mark fuhrman, they were trying to find dna to find who is responsible for the gruesome murder of four idaho students. fbi is assisting in the case now, gone nearly a week without a suspect. bill, you find it hard to believe at this point they don't have a major lead in this case yet, considering mark's point this morning when bill and i

investigative steps, who was in the individuals or maybe one individual's orbit. some confrontation, something personal, discussed in past cases that when someone is stabbed it's really a pretty personal, typically, typically personal type of a crime, so was this person waiting, did they come in after they arrived back home, there are some questions we don't know but i think looking at maybe text messages, things on the computer, was there someone harboring some type of resentment or ill feeling towards one or the group of them, maybe that might be one of the key investigative elements. >> sandra: our reporter dan springer said a moment ago one of the most combed-over crime scenes he's ever been to. quite a lot of time has passed since this happened, a week now. you have to think that local authorities saw something they have never seen before, a murder

10:37 am
would that not elevate it to first-degree murder? >> that certainly would. you are exactly right and they could elevate the charges. you charge them with what you have at the time early on in the investigation and then as you develop more information, talk to more witnesses, more information from his personal life, social media, whatever they can get. if they find there was more premeditation they can always elevate the charges and charge him with first-degree murder. >> john: every time one of these things comes along, and far too often it seems, bobby, trace back and at some point in the process leading up to this could there have been some kind of an intervention. and the campus police did report that he was known to them, there was a threat assessment done on him after he apparently articulated the fact that he had a weapon to somebody outside of the university community. it was also a concealed weapons violation, a misdemeanor charge, it was 12-month suspended sentence. it was supposed to be under

you have divided government, what does it mean for getting something done when it comes to the economy, in particular, who voters said was the biggest concern, inflation. how can they come together, both sides, to bring those prices down? >> well they are not going to come together. biden created inflation by passing 1.9 trillion spending program and several other multi-trillion dollar programs. what happened with the house of representatives and filibuster in the senate, no more massive inflation creating spending bills. that is step one. some of the money that biden hoped to spend republicans were not going to allow that to move forward. so stopping the overspending and making sure there aren't any more waves of overspending is the first way and the only way to stop the inflation. >> sandra: ok. as far as working together on
