rachel: we're back with a fox news alert. we're closely watching the tragic breaking news out of colorado. >> at least five people are dead and 18 others hurt after a gunman opened fire inside a gay nightclub in colorado springs. the fbi is currently on the scene. the fire department was among the first responders when it happened overnight. >> right behind the police, we do trai with them. once they get to a point that's comfortable, they call in and we commune directly with them. >> the club releasing a statement saying in part we are devastated by the senseless
6:01 am
attack on the community, we thank the heroic customers that subdued the gunman. >> patrons were as young as 18 years old. the gunman is in custody and is being treated at a hospital. the police are set to begin a press conference in about an hour. now to another fox news alert, moscow, idaho police are shedding new light on grew mom e murders of four college students. rachel: police have not identify any suspects. the university of idaho is planning on holding a vigil in honor of the victims on november 30th. >> ashley spree strohmier a hae latest. >> reporter: police honing in on the details of the victims' final moments, now clarifying a surviving roommate made the first 911 call just before noon
6:02 am
last sunday. that roommate's identity has not been he revealed. police don't consider had him a suspect. investigators seen yesterday measuring --seen measuring tire. it is not clear who drove the private vehicle but police say they do not believe he is involved. fbi agents and prosecutors were also seen near the crime scene yesterday as the investigation hits the one week mark. the parents of victim kaley gonsalves joined lawrence jones last night with these memories. >> she was a three times deans list member, her grades were amazing. she loved competing. she was a highly driven person who -- >-- she had many goals inlife. she was like mom, did you hear
6:03 am
about that, did you hear about that she was very we'll versed. she would think someone was following her and she would say i think someone's following me. i would say, kaley, call the police. she was very aware. >> reporter: she called her friend multiple times during the of the attack. police are he reviewing the final movements of all four victims hoping to turn up any new clues saying there were no signs of forced entry. moscow police are set to hold a press conference with the latest at 3:00 p.m. pacific time. back to you. >> let's bring in joseph scott morgan to shed a little more light on the investigation. great of to have you on the program with us. as you a week removed from this
6:04 am
crime look at it from afar, we've possibly had evidence at the crime scene when it comes to the amount of blood people have talked about, footprints, tire tracks outside the residence. certainly we're hoping there's some digital video evidence perhaps in the neighborhood. what to you would be the most important he's piece of evidence to focus. >> well, it's certainly going to be revolving around the movements of this individual within the residence. because we have four individual victims. this is very up close and personal. we're talking about an edged weapons, that's what they said. so just imagine if you will as horrible as this is, every individual that was attacked subsequent to the first one you'll have what's referred to as a co-mingling of blood where they transfer evidence from person to person to person. now, it's significant because since there was so much blood
6:05 am
spilled, it is impossible for this individual who perpetrated this horrible crime to have gotten out of there without having a copious amount of blood on them and there's a chance that they probably tracked through the house and i don't just mean walking through puddles of blood but it would be on their hands, they're going to be touching various surfaces, they're going to be leaving bits and pieces, bread crumbs if you will all the way through the house. that's what they're doing at the scene right now, it's very subtle. they have to be painstaking what they're doing. rachel: i spoke with dr. batten earlier today. i asked him -- because we had seen a clip earlier of the father saying that they had warned him they that it could take a while. i asked the doctor how long does it take to process dna and this blood. here's what he said. >> if there was a struggle, there are defensive wounds and any scratch marks, all of the fingernails of the four victims
6:06 am
would be examined, fingernail scrapings to see if there's any dna from the perpetrator which can occur during a struggle. once it's collected, it can be done within 24, 48 hours as would happen here because the fbi facilities are pinpointed here so the actual process can be done in 48 hours if they got fingernail scrapings. that will be done very quickly. it's finding the evidence, looking at all of the blood at the scene and seeing which -- if there's anything there that might have come from a different person. rachel: he also mentioned that the killer could have worn gloves. my question is, how could that alter the ability to find out who this was? >> well, yeah, that is an issue, certainly if the individual has essentially gloved their hands, you're not going to have the
6:07 am
opportunity in that sense to get what's called touch dna where we have skin cells that fall away. you get a partial strand relative to that one more thing we have to think about, in the cases i've worked relative to sharp force injury cases particularly when you have a fevered event where you have multiple stab wounds, it is not unusual for the perpetrator to have actually cut themselves so when we talk about co-mingling of blood here, you can actually have an essence of the perpetrator of their blood if they injured their hands, that's significant. and also what the doctor is saying is significant relative to fingernails. this individual if the victims fought back, they could have injuries on their face, scratch marks, this sort of thing, and that wouldn't be easy to cover up. as a matter of fact, still to this day a week afterwards there would be evidence there on that person. >> joseph, how do you preserve a crime scene? you've got first responders come
6:08 am
rushing in. the first person's in, then multiple people after that, ambulances, medics. if it's that messy, is there any way for it to be preserved? >> well, you know, we go into crime scenes understanding that, hey, god bless the first responders, all right. they do their job. they do their assessment. we factor that in. we understand it. they have a job to do. once that happens, you have to have a central point of contact that's managing that scene that shuts it all down, nonessential personnel are not allowed under the tape at that point in time. you have to have a reason to be there. and that way you can maintain the continuity and that's going to be very important. remember, we saw the prosecutor out there and so the prosecutor is on top of this already. they're considering everything in this case and it would not surprise me, the person that was out there is going to be the individual that when this does go to court, when it does go to trial and i feel sure they're going to catch somebody, that person from the da's office is going to follow this all the way
6:09 am
through. rachel: you how confident do you feel about these investigators? there's been two pretty significant mistakes made already, one with the tire marks not being preserved in time and also this co-mingling of trash between the victim's house and the neighbor's house. does that tell you something about just maybe how inexperienced perhaps the local police are? i'm not trying to undermine them. i'm looking at what they're doing here. >> no, they've got a lot of resources and a lot of people on the scene. it's not simply the locals. yeah, let's face it, listen, you can work in a very large jurisdiction, i worked in atlanta and new orleans, and it is uncommon to actually have a quadruple stabbing. you can't take the measure of it, how infrequently this happens. as far as the tire tracks go, that's going to be kind of an ancillary finding. what's really important, people have seen that image of them taking a look at the tire tracks, that's not what is important in that image.
6:10 am
what's important is you look back up the hill, they've got what appears to 3d imaging going on, that looks like a farow device. they're taking thousands of high resolution i images that also te laser images. they will be able to literally he create a virtual crime scene. i would suspect they probably did this within the house too. trash is certainly important when you begin to try to understand the pattern of the trucks when they're picking it up, when they're dumping it and that's something you have to do from jump street because everything et cetera affected as you -- gets affected as you move down the time line, when you have that one moment in time when the events occur, you of move out further and further, everything becomes diminished. hopefully they were able to capture and harvest as much evidence as possible.
6:11 am
>> thank you for adding that perspective. thank you so much. >> thank you, guys. >> i can't help before we leave this behind, he mentioned how rare it is for there to be a quadruple stabbing. you add to what you brought up, which i thought was a great point. you have two people who survived this thing in the house and four others who were killed. and some of them with defensive wounds. and yet it didn't seem to be enough to wake up the rest of the house. i'm just wondering if that implies there had been an efficiency, how do you get four people -- >> apparently the other two were upstairs so there's a little bit of standoff. take any average person off the street especially if someone's got mental issues, they're not going to be able to do, execute that type of horrific thing and not wake other people up, not mess it up, not leave obvious evidence behind that points to -- >> not leave wounded people. >> not leave wounded people who
6:12 am
can identify that point. quadruple stabbing in the dead of night, no one hears it, not discovered until noon of the following morning. let's hope we don't have a situation where someone who knows what they're doing took out a vengeance killing there. i feel for the community, the college kids and others who are trying to go about their lives. until someone is caught, that's medicamortifying. >> a headline in the new york times, in a first, which countries agree to pay for climate damages in four nations. the united states and european union are pushing for assurances that china will contribute to any fund created. and that china would be not eligible to receive money from them. united nations classifies china as a developing country which would make it eligible for climate compensation even though it is one of the world's
6:13 am
greatest emitter of greenhouse gases and second largest economy. >> when our leaders are at the g-7 or the g-20 or the g-4000 with these other leaders, this is what they're prioritizing right now. will, you said it right in the previous hour. this is climate reparations, the guilt of wealthy places going to the u.n., being told howievillel and terrible we are because we create combustable engines, now you must pay for those sins and our taxpayer dollars will go to pay other countries because we're so bad and china is finding a way to game the whole thing by saying we don't have to pay in because we're technically a developing nation so you should actually pay us as we pollute more than anybody else if the world. it's insane. rachel: yeah.
6:14 am
that classification of china ridiculously -- >> top 27. rachel: the ridiculous classification of china as a developing nation when we know they have one of -- the second largest military in the world, they are the massive exporters to everyone a across the world, there's no way this is a developing country. that classification comes from the u.n. which we also help pay for in large part. so it's all a scam. it's all a scam. you wonder how our own president would think that it's okay to do as you called it, will, a he gglobaltax. so take take our tax dollars and pay other poor countries and also china, how they come up with these ideas, how they don't look out for us. we're in the middle of a recession. and why would that be okay to take our money to pay other countries because supposedly we use fossil fuel. i think we have some sort of graphic here. >> we do. rachel: on who is actually emitting because we know china

went to the summit went in private jets. it's about redistribution, not about the climate. it won't solve what they claim is the climate problem. they're dumping billions of dollars into an idea that's making no difference but they're getting rich doing it. all of their offspring are invested in these industries. >> the elite benefit from this, the globalist class, no doubt. are the chinese giggling or belly laughing behind joe biden every time they meet and he says this climate change stuff is really important, will you sign on to be a strategic partner. you want to be a strategic partner on emitting less. he probably turns to his add vvievicar and -- advisors and ss let's build more coal plants. it's so unserious. rachel: when you have a president who is compromised by the chinese, he has no leverage with the chinese so that's another problem that we need to get to the bottom of. >> fox nation is celebrating yellowstone's 15 150th birthday
