temperature down and understand we're all god's people we have to respect each other, we may disagree but let's agree to disagree and move on as human beings embracing each other as human beings. arthel: should there be stuffer punishment for hate crimes. >> yes, we have bias crime laws across the country. and because they are targeted crimes, because you are an individual who may be different from someone, you will be targeted, shot and killed, these individuals should get maximum. that would send a message to anyone who tries to duplicate the horrendous acts like this. arthel: the murder weapon was a long gun. do americans just have to accept that any time, anywhere, a shooter could appear and commit mass murder? >> well, you know.

it is just heartbreaking. maddi was an only child. and but like i said she was our child. reporter: police also reveal last night that 911 call that was placed hours after the students were killed was made from phone of one of the surviving roommates, two other students were in the house at the time of the murder. officers say they are cooperating with police, the victims were likely sleeping when they were stabbed multiple times and located on second and third floors of the house, officers believe that the attack was targeted, their killer has not been caught and murder weapon not yet recovered. considering this crime this traumatic there is the aftermath, you can only imagine what it looked like, they are told there a lot of physical ifd evidence in this case. >> in so much evidence it

will take a lot of time to process it all, it wasn't like, a pinpoint crime. this person was sloppy, h -- he made a mess. reporter: prosecutor said that law enforcement is trying to expedite everything that could lead to a suspect. i watched him leave the crime scene after visits yesterday, and appeared very emotional, a very traumatic scene, it was hard to see his face, i asked him about how he was feeling. >> i know this is a close-knit community, there has not been a homicide here in years, you can talk about the impact this -- just having on law enforcement too. to go through this. >> any time there is a list of life like this, particularly young people like this, it is horrible.
